Hi, my lovelies! Thank you so much for your support and your kind words. I really need them lately, even though I know I don't deserve them.

I haven't exactly had the time to respond to your reviews individually lately, but I promise I will try to find some time and do that next week.

Okay, guys, enjoy!

On her way back to the Mikaelson mansion, Caroline recalled the last bit of her conversation with Bonnie.

"I hate to break it to you Caroline, but you don't what you're doing." The witch said.

Caroline huffed. Well, that was a piece of information, and that was helping. "Thank you." She replied ironically.

"I'm having a hard time helping you Caroline because I'm having a hard time getting you." Bonnie said. "You have simply done everything the wrong way round with this guy: you move in with him but you're not involved with him, you kiss him but still don't want get to involved with him and to top everything, you are leaving… or not in a week." Bonnie summed up. "I mean, seriously, Caroline." She was left perplexed.

Caroline heaved a sigh shrugging. "I don't know, Bonnie, I mean things haven't gotten so out of hand… you know? None of this was premeditated… like really none of this. Even the kiss I told you about, it was an in-the-heat-in-the-moment kind of thing, and it was not to be anything more than a kiss! But before I knew it, it just turned into a full make-out session!" she told her friend pointedly and didn't wait for the latter's response. "Like we were all over each other, our lips just wouldn't separate and our hands…"

"Okay!" Bonnie cut her off urgently, the mental images becoming too much. "Too much information!" she said and the blonde looked down smiling somehow apologetically. "Do you want to be with him? I would that say you do." She gave her opinion still.

Caroline thought about it remembering that Klaus asked her that very same question earlier in the afternoon and she didn't answer… what was weird and paradoxical because it was so clear in her mind and it was probably the only thing that was clear in her mind right now: of course she did want to be with him.

"I do." She answered.

But things weren't that simple…

"It's just…" Caroline started. "… I can't help but…"

"I know." Bonnie said. "But you've gotta let go, Care." She paused. "Who knows? Maybe Klaus can help you." She said shrugging.

Caroline looked at her and then, away, her mind clearly going to another place. She shrugged. "Yeah, maybe."

She had gone to Bonnie's to clear her mind and try to see things more straight…; that was a success, partly. She had gotten answers –she wanted to be with Klaus, she didn't want to move out of the mansion –but…, now she was asking herself even more questions. And in addition, she would have Klaus to face tonight.

He needed commitment… Could she give him that…? 'Oh god…'

"Is everything okay, brother?" Elijah asked his little brother casually lifting his gaze from the book he was reading to the hybrid.

"Why are you asking?" the latter asked back looking up from his book as well.

"Well, other than the fact that you almost emptied Theresa of her blood today, you seem annoyed." Elijah spoke the most calmly in the world refocusing on his reading.

Klaus closed his book and set it down on the sofa's arm. "You just had to bring that up, didn't you?" he rhetorically asked. "The woman is still breathing Elijah, no reason to dwell on it."

"No thanks to you." Elijah commented pointedly growing his eyes.

"I was thirsty!" The hybrid defended. "And it's not like that was the first time. What's the big deal?"

"You're right: that wasn't the first time." Elijah agreed. "However, it had been a whole week since you showed yourself so… greedy, for lack of a better word." He stated.

Despite the usual nonchalance in his voice and the casualness he was showing, Elijah really was concerned for his baby brother. These last few days, Klaus had indeed adopted the feed-heal-compel way, much to Elijah's surprise yet certainly not displeasure. However, something must have happened since he returned to his old habits earlier in that afternoon…

Elijah wouldn't be surprised if it were all somehow related to a blonde who was not his sister.

"Well, thank you for your concern big brother but I'm okay." Klaus sarcastically responded. "And I'm not changing my mind about Katerina so don't waste both your time and mine trying to mollify me!"

Caroline who had been listening to the conversation, but what seemed to be a pre-argument, between the two brothers was taken aback by Elijah's words and her eyes instantly widened. He talked to Klaus about Katherine?! What? How? When?! When did he work up the courage to do that?

And Klaus! Did he have to say no?! This was one of these moments she talked to Bonnie about when she just wanted to throw a plate at his face or rather a knife! And as if denying his brother his love wasn't enough, he just had to rub it in.

She hadn't meant to eavesdrop on them; she just walked into the house when they were talking, and since she didn't care for her return to be known…

The hybrid's obvious awful mood did not incite her to join them.

Elijah lifted his gaze to his baby brother. "Your anger wouldn't have a deeper origin, would it?" Elijah inquired tit for tat while knowing the answer for sure; as always, Klaus' inability to control his emotions gave him out.

Klaus narrowed his eyes at his big brother. "Again, I am perfectly fine." He reiterated his jaw tightened, what didn't go unnoticed by Elijah.

The elder Mikaelson directed his gaze back on his book. "That wrinkle on your forehead says otherwise, brother." He countered.

"Oh, he was born that way." Kol butted in entering the living room.

Elijah let out an unhidden chuckle whereas Klaus let out an exasperated sigh.

"Where is Caroline, brother?" the younger brother asked his bigger yet not oldest brother inquisitively. "I haven't been able to get hold of her all day! Has she come back to her senses? Have you driven her away?" he provoked playfully.

"One more word out of you and I…"

"Will tear up my liver, yes, I know." Kol cut him off with a falsely annoyed expression. "Same old, same old, brother, seasons change." He said sarcastically. "Now, you didn't answer me: where is the beautiful Caroline? Did you get into a fight?" he inquired narrowing his eyes and wrinkling his nose. "Because I noticed how you almost took her last breath away from Theresa."

"Goodness!" Klaus exclaimed. "Can't a man enjoy some fine blood and quench his thirst anymore without it being assimilated to heartbreak?!" the hybrid lashed out his eyes furiously widened.

Elijah stood up and approached Klaus, his book in his right hand. "Control, Niklaus." He advised implicitly putting his left hand on his little brother's right shoulder. "Control is everything." He said patronizingly and patted Klaus' shoulder eliciting a cluck from their younger before he headed for the stairs.

/

"Yes?" Klaus answered as someone knocked at his door.

Caroline opened the door and entered his bedroom. "Hey." She said timidly; she almost sounded intimated by Klaus.

He was backed against his headboard, his sketchbook on his lap and a pencil between his fingers. "Hey." He said in return looking up at her.

She approached his bed timorously at a slow pace.

"You came to take your suitcase?" he inquired.

Caroline looked up at him and stared at him. "No." She said taking a step further.

"Then why?" he inquired.

"Are you kicking me out?" she asked in return.

He didn't answer her: it was a rhetorical question.

To be honest, at first, Caroline was set on delaying her talk with Klaus for as long as possible: she was like 'there's nothing that can't wait till tomorrow…' But she found she didn't want to go to bed knowing Klaus was mad at her and there was tension between them, so she decided to work up her pluck and go explain herself.

The blonde got even closer to the bed and attempted to get on it but moved backwards as she had a thought. "You're not going to dig your fangs into me if I crawl over, right?" she made sure half-jokingly.

Klaus raised his brows at Caroline and couldn't help the damped laughter that escaped him at her worried expression. She half-smiled half-sighed in relief.

The blonde took that as a good sign and climbed on the bed. She crawled her way to him and settled next to him at the top of the bed.

"I do want to be with you." Caroline immediately reassured Klaus looking him dead in the eyes.

He stared at her more intently than before as she looked away an apprehensive look on her face knowing a 'but' would necessarily follow.

Do not be mistaken: Klaus was more than pleased to know that Caroline did want to be with him and shared his feelings. He just didn't show it because he was bracing himself for what may, most likely, come.

"But I don't want us to let people know yet." She added nevertheless. "I want us to keep this to ourselves for a while." She said gesturing at the space between them at the 'this' part.

Several seconds of silence passed before Caroline finally turned her head to Klaus to gauge his feelings: nothing. She made her eyes go round the room indicating that she was waiting for him to react.

"So you want to be with me." The hybrid eventually spoke.

Caroline raised her brows at him widening her eyes lightly. "That cannot possibly be all that you picked up on."

He gave her his trademark smirk causing her to roll her eyes. She smiled and looked back at him. "I do." She reaffirmed.

He smiled thinly at her mirroring her expression. "But you don't want to tell anyone?" he made sure: better lay everything on the line.

"No, not for now." She confirmed.

"Why?"

She shrugged. "I just, I want us to enjoy this. We're just getting started, you know? Can't we just… enjoy?" she asked. "I mean, if we tell everyone, they're going to make such a big deal out of this and I don't know; I just… I want a chance to sort out my feelings first."

This whole situation was really thoroughly confusing for Caroline: she had come to care for this man so much in such a short amount of time… She never would have thought even in a million years that she would ever feel this way about Klaus. She had no idea what had happened in the past few weeks… She guessed Elena was right: she had been in denial; such feelings don't appear overnight.

He had truly kind of crept up on her. He came out of the blue and here he was: shaking her world! Making her feel things she did not want to feel, changing the way she looked at things, making her question her wants, her needs, her desires… He was doing an extremely good job at messing with her head whether it was on purpose or not. She had no idea how she even let him get under her skin like that.

She wasn't expecting him. She wasn't expecting this. She wasn't expecting the way her mind got muddled whenever he got close enough to her for his scent to invade her nose; she wasn't expecting the way her heart started to race whenever he gave her that scorching gaze of him or more recently, whenever their lips would only be a few inches from connecting.

"Sort out your feelings?" Klaus repeated.

Caroline sighed. She wasn't sure how to express what she was feeling without hurting his feelings.

"Klaus, you turned up in my life at the awkward moment." She started to explain to him what she was currently going through in her head. "And these feelings came really unexpectedly. And I need you to give me time to figure them out." She told him gesturing with her hands. "You've got seven years to deal with them, don't I get a few days?!"

He stared at her a few more seconds and then looked away. He honestly didn't even know what to say to her. A part of him just wanted to reassure Caroline: tell her to take all the time in the world, tell her that he would wait forever if he had to; but the other part of her just wanted to scream at her and ask her to make her mind already. But at the same time, the last thing he wanted to do was pressure her or drive her further away.

Klaus eventually looked back at Caroline. "I wish I could tell you that I'm okay with that… that I'm giving you as much time as you need…, but that would just be lying to you." He paused. "And I would never lie to you." He said and Caroline smiled thinly in reaction.

"I'm not in high school, Caroline, and neither are you: I don't want to hide you like a teenage boy hides his girlfriend to his parents and I don't want you to hide me." He declared pointedly. "If we're going to do this, Caroline… it's going to be all the way. So I'm asking you again: do you want to be with me?"

The blonde sighed and closed her eyes. She shook her head hoping to find some sort of resolve. Why couldn't anything be simple in her life?

"I don't know how to explain what's going on in my life: a part of me wants to jump into this, head first, and just live what we have to live." She paused. "But the other part of me, the rational one, just can't help but think that is the worst idea ever." She trailed off. "Don't take it badly."

"How am I supposed to take it?!" he asked her. "And which part is going to win?" he asked in a lower voice as though he was afraid of hearing the answer.

Caroline turned to look at him and saw the fear in his eyes and in that moment her f=heart just felt like breaking: she was the one doing this to him. She heaved another sigh. "Klaus…" she breathed. "Please don't be mad but… can we please put this conversation in suspense for now?"

Klaus contemplated her and saw in her expression how emotionally challenging this must be for her: she looked exhausted. Klaus guessed he could try and show understanding for once in his life.

He nodded. "Sure."

She nodded too and let out a half-sigh of relief. She nodded again and moved to get closer to him on the bed. She lay down and rested one side of her face on his chest as he surrounded her back with right arm and put his left hand on her waist. Once she got comfortable on his chest, Klaus laid a soft skin on her forehead and the blonde closed her eyes to savor the moment shutting out all her uncertainties and dark thoughts for the time being.

/

"This is a much messed up relationship." Elena declared.

Caroline blew. "Well, thank you Elena for that brilliant and complex analysis." She said ironically.

"Caroline! You did come here to have my opinion, didn't you?"

"I did. But you could sugarcoat it a little." The blonde commented.

After talking to Bonnie about her relationship issues with Klaus and after getting into a fight with him again this morning, Caroline decided to consult Elena on the matter as well. Perhaps, the raven-haired woman would be able to see her through and give her some insight into her own feelings. After all, her best friend did know her pretty well.

"Can you hand me my white shirt please?" Elena asked her from the bathroom.

"Where is it?" Caroline asked looking around the room.

"On the pile of clothes on top of Stefan's suitcase."

Elena was in the bathroom getting ready to go join Bonnie at the Lockwood mansion in order to help her organize the upcoming Masquerade Ball in the honor of a charity organization. She was done with her light makeup and now it was time to dress up. As Caroline still hadn't reached her the white shirt she had asked her for after a minute, Elena passed her head through the bathroom's door slight opening to look what was taking the blonde so long. "Caroline? What is it? You don't find it?" she asked and the second she heard Elena's voice, she noticed Caroline stoop awkwardly towards the suitcase.

"Uh?" Caroline asked glancing backwards at the brunette. "Yeah, it's a mess around here." She said before spotting the requested shirt. She took it and threw it over to Elena. "There you go."

"Thanks." Elena said catching it before she returned fully to getting dressed.

A few moments later, she stepped out of the bathroom and into her bedroom. "So what were we saying?" she asked the blonde to remind her as she joined the latter on the bed.

"Oh you were just saying that I'm getting into a messed up relationship."

"Right. Well, I'm sorry, Care, but it's true. You guys are just at the beginning. Your lips should be attached to the other's ones and you should be gazing lovingly into each other's eyes and just cooing." Elena said romantically. "Instead, all you guys do is fight! That's not normal, Care; that's not how a healthy relationship should be." She told him. "Are you even in a relationship?" she inquired her brows knit together lightly. This was just too complicated for her understanding.

"Yeah, we are." She responded uncertainty ringing in her voice and Elena gave her a look. "I mean we are." She reaffirmed with more confidence. "…just not in the public eye." She clarified. "You know what? I am so tired of justifying myself over and over! I don't want to go public yet. Period! What is the big deal?! Doesn't every couple need an adjustment period?"

Elena raised her brows and widened her eyes. "Okay, Care, you need to breathe. Alright? I couldn't care less about you going public, okay? This is you and Klaus' business. I mean don't get me wrong: I love you and obviously, I'm concerned about your well-being. However, I do not feel concerned about what goes on in this relationship. You already know my opinion on the matter: I don't approve. Now, it's up to you." She told her friend. "The only person who's annoyed by the current situation is Klaus." She said. "And you, obviously." She added. "And frankly, I can understand him. I mean he probably think that you're ashamed of him, which mustn't be easy to deal with."

"I'm not ashamed of him." Caroline stated.

"I know. I never said you were. I'm just saying your attitude probably makes him think you are. I know I would." Elena commented and the blonde gave her a scolding glance. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding." She said. "Sort of."

/

Klaus was in his room getting some rest or rather trying to, what was not an easy fit considering how upset he was. If only he was merely upset, Klaus was also utterly confused.

To say that he didn't understand Caroline would have been a great understatement: he was clueless, as in clue-less, regarding her indecision and what seemed to be her own proper confusion. She said she liked him and cared about him. So what the hell was so confusing?! What was going on inside her head?!

Was she playing him? Using him as a distraction for her time being in Mystic falls…?

He refused to believe that. That wasn't her.

But what else was he left to believe? Was she ashamed of him?

How much time together did they even have left?!

She was driving him mad; she was driving him absolutely mad! And the worst part is there was nothing he could do about it. He couldn't reverse: he was already in too deep. She was the piece of him he wished he didn't need.

He just wished he knew what was troubling her so much so he could be of some kind of help.

She said she needed to figure some things out, but he was hooked with her and he was almost convinced that she had feelings for him too, so what was there left to figure out? Klaus didn't know much about love, or relationships at all for that matter, but he knew when two people truly and genuinely cared about each other, it shouldn't be this hard.

He had waited so long for her, waited for her to be ready, to let him show her all that she meant to him…

He had already done everything he possibly could; she knew how he felt about her, she couldn't not know, he had made it damn obvious. There was really not more he could do, especially if she refused to let him in on what was disturbing her. 'It's a bit difficult to win a fight when you don't know your rival.'

Caroline Forbes was definitely an intriguing woman, probably the most enigmatic person he had ever known.

He remembered their goodbye seven years ago. He let her go that day and here they were seven years later, and he was once again letting the beauty slip through his fingers.

"Where will you be going?" he inquired.

"Somewhere." Caroline answered with a sassy little smile, her arms crossed and her legs in a similar position.

She really didn't want Klaus to know where she was headed: the chances were non-negligible that he would coincidentally bump into her in Boston in one month.

Klaus creased his brows. "That's not an answer." He pointed out.

She shrugged. "It's mine."

Klaus wrinkled his brows lightly at her response, but as she gave him a tiny, almost imperceptible smile, his features slowly softened.

They both sank in an intense gaze, Klaus' blue eyes narrowly focused on the blonde's face as though he was trying to memorize her features, to burn her image inside his memory, until the tension became too much for Caroline and she dropped Klaus' gaze.

"Um… I had a favor to ask you." She said breaking the silence that had turned uncomfortable.

He nodded. "Oh, I was suspecting you hadn't come here just to say goodbye." He said half-jokingly.

Caroline, however, didn't take it as a joke judging by the glare she threw his way. "Were you just born a jerk or something?!" she asked him shrugging, her brows knit together.

"No, that was Kol." He responded briefly closing his eyes and lightly shaking his head.

She raised her brows at Klaus and just stared at him for a moment. Then, without warning, she burst out laughing; and his laughter soon joined hers.

'I might actually miss this' she thought to herself.

Their laughs calmed down, she smiled sweetly at him and her smile shyly faded away.

"What did you want to ask me?" Klaus questioned.

She looked up at him hoping he would accept and respond to her demand.

"I want you to promise me that you will not try to find out where I am or send your minions to look after me. I am a big girl who can take care of herself, am I clear?" she asked him.

"I never said you weren't." countered the hybrid.

"You're not answering me!" Caroline said pointedly widening her eyes.

Klaus stared at her contemplating her request. Could he do that? Could he just stay away for God knows how much time without trying to contact her, to see her, to talk to her?! Or even without trying to know if she was alright?! He heaved an inner sigh. He really wasn't sure. But clearly it was what Caroline wanted or else, she wouldn't have made the trip.

Caroline stared back at him, their eyes relentless on each other, as she waited for his answer.

"I will respect your wish." He broke the silence.

"You will?" She asked raising her brows and widening her eyes, disbelief clear in her expression and voice.

"I will." He reaffirmed.

She smiled at him appreciatively. "Thank you."

She stood up and so did Klaus. "Let me walk you out." He said and they headed for his entrance together.

Once outside, Caroline turned to him and they stood awkwardly in front of each other –well, Caroline particularly. "Well, um…" she didn't really know what to say to him. They weren't enemies anymore, but she didn't really see him as a friend either… Their relationship had yet to be defined. "… I guess I will see you." She settled for that.

She turned to enter her car but he stopped her from opening the front portiere by grabbing her arm and turning her around. He lowered his head towards her and before she could comprehend what was happening, he had kissed her on the cheek leaving a burning sensation on the skin. That was probably the most melting kiss she had received in a while.

He pulled away only to anchor his light blue gaze into hers. "Let me make this clear: I will respect your desire, and I won't pursue you to the ends of the worlds." He ended half-jokingly getting a small genuine laugh from her. "But we will meet again someday, and that day, I will never let you go again." He promised her pointedly; it almost sounded like a threat. Caroline gulped. "So you go and see the world. Enjoy yourself. Hell, be a heartbreaker!" he told her. "Because once you're mine… no take backs. I intend to be your last love, Caroline Forbes…; however long it takes."

He meant those words. He really did want to be her last love, and he swore to himself that day that he would never let her go again once they would reunite; and he was intent on keeping that promise. But how do you retain that something that isn't yours to keep.

/

"I feel good when I'm around him. He makes me smile and laugh. And he challenges me! You know most of the time, it's me; but he challenges me too. He makes me question what I hold as true; he gives me a new outlook on things. He makes me feel confident about myself. He makes me feel safe and protected. And I am crazily attracted to him: whenever we're alone together, tension automatically fills up the room and there are moments when he looks at me and I just… I feel…" she struggled to find the right word.

"Consumed." Elena completed without the least doubt about her choice of adjective: she knew all too well that feeling.

"Exactly." Caroline said. "He consumes me. And it's so new for me."

There was a long moment of silence as neither of them added anything and Caroline lost herself in her thoughts. "But I don't think it's worth it."

Elena knit her brows questioningly. Another minute of absolute silence passed. "You've changed, Care." Elena noted.

The blonde looked up at her raven-haired friend. "What do you mean?"

"You're not the same woman who left seven years ago. You've become… darker, pessimistic."

"I've grown up, Elena; I've matured, that's all."

"Are you sure?" Elena questioned. "I feel like something's happened to you."

"I traveled Elena; I was to places. I saw things; things that made me update my view on life. Yes, I've changed: I'm not an optimist anymore, I'm realistic." She declared.

Elena briefly looked away unconvinced. "Well, going back to the matter, you're wrong." She affirmed. "It is worth it. Love is always worth it, Caroline." She assured her. "Take it from the expert in epic love." She said in a joking tone making Caroline laugh.

"Just look at Stefan and me: after everything that we've been through and all the ordeals that we've had to overcome, we're still together and our love is stronger than ever." She affirmed pointedly. "It is worth it, every moment of pain. Stefan and I…, we've been through hell and back but you know what, there's not a single moment that I would like to erase because it brought where we are now."

The corners of the blonde's mouth raised into a smile. "Have you told Stefan how much you love him recently?"

Elena frowned for a second. "Stefan knows that I love him." She said in an obvious tone.

Caroline shrugged. "You can still remind him." She said. "How are things with Damon back? Is he behaving?" Caroline inquired.

"As much as he is capable of." Elena answered simply with a half amused-laugh.

"I see. So he's not." Caroline deduced.

"He hasn't been." Elena specified. "But I gave him a fair warning, and he's been… putting some ice on it."

"Good." Caroline approved, pride laced in her voice. "Finally!"

"Yeah, yeah, don't think I don't know what you're doing: I see right through you."

"What do you mean?" Caroline asked innocently.

"You're trying to take the attention off you and bring it to me. Well, it's not working. We aren't done; I have gotten through to yet."

"Well, what more is there to say?" Caroline asked seeming bored already.

"Who do you think you're kidding, Caroline?" Elena asked accusation perceptible in her voice and the blonde raised her brows at her in interrogation. "You say that you don't want to go public before you have sorted out your feelings. Yet, you have talked about what's going on between you and Klaus to both Bonnie and me, the closest people to you. That leads me to think that in reality, you don't want Klaus to talk about your relationship; and more specifically, you don't want his siblings to know." Elena began her psychological analysis of her best friend who was listening intently. "Now this is what I believe: you know that once his siblings will know, your relationship will take a whole other extent and it will all become much more concrete. You're afraid to step into this relationship because you feel like there may be no way out. You're afraid of feeling stuck!" Elena concluded and watched as her words sank in. "Have I reached a delicate spot?" she tried to know the blonde not replying anything.

"You may have." Caroline agreed somehow. "I mean, yeah, now that you mention it, I guess there was a part of my subconscious that was afraid of getting into an irreversible situation."

Elena listened to Caroline intently. She knew it! She knew it from the beginning; she saw right through her!

"Well, all I can say is if your feelings for Klaus turn out to be half as strong as my feelings for Stefan, you will never want him to let you go." Elena told her from her own personal experience.

Caroline stared at Elena completely stunned her eyebrows raised, and let out a disbelieving half-chuckle half-laugh. "I cannot believe that you're defending Klaus right now! You're actually trying to persuade me to go through with this relationship."

"Yeah, well, I have too much going on right now in my own life to trash Klaus. Besides, I love you, Care, and I want you to be happy. So if Klaus does that for me, then I guess I kind of owe him one." She said honestly.

Caroline cocked her head to the left moved by her friend's words. She reached out for the latter and pulled her into a tight hug. "I love you. You're the best friend ever." She said in a small voice. She pulled away. "Don't tell Bonnie I said that." Caroline joked causing Elena to laugh.

"Speaking of whom, we should go help her for the Masquerade Ball." Elena said.

"Yeah, I was planning on going to the Lockwood mansion a bit later, but I really have to go back to the Mikaelson mansion. You know me and events; I wouldn't let Bonnie down if it weren't important." Caroline said and stood up. "I will swing by later, okay? I'll try to. I will be there tomorrow in any case. I'll call Bonnie in the car; you kiss her for me, okay?"

"Okay." Elena said. "Can't Klaus wait a little?" she asked.

"Uh…" Caroline pretended to consider it. "I think he's waited long enough." She said with a small laugh and turned around to leave.

She stopped at the door and turned around holding it her face half-in half-out. "You should call your boyfriend… and tell him how madly in love with him you are, or better yet, find him. It won't hurt him." She assured her.

Elena let out an amused stifled chuckle. "Very well, mom."

"Okay, see you later, kiddo. I love you." Caroline played along and then strode out the door.

"Love you more." Elena shouted to her.

/

Klaus heard his door open. Now, no one had knocked; consequently, he hadn't let anyone in. "Did I say come in?" he asked annoyed to whoever was disturbing him and looked up at the intruder. "Oh…" he said as he saw it was no other than Caroline.

She didn't say anything. She just walked towards the bed where he was sitting a book in his hands; she removed her ballet shoes and climbed on the bed.

"I'm sorry." She said after settling next to him.

Klaus heaved a sigh closing his book and set it down on his left nightstand. He wasn't particularly surprised: he was prepared for this. There were only two choices she could have made; and he knew which one would have been his. "You don't want to be with me." He reformulated her words more explicitly.

"No." She corrected him nodding. "I'm sorry for making you doubt." She said and turned to look at him. She couldn't figure out what he was thinking so she merely elaborated. "I do want to be with you. I want this; I… I want us. And I'm sorry if I made you doubt my feelings. I'm sorry if I made you think even for a second that I was ashamed of you, or feel like I thought you weren't worthy of me. I'm sorry that I've put you –." Her apology was interrupted by Klaus' lips crashing on hers.

Though caught off guard as well as surprised, Caroline immediately returned Klaus' kiss and even deepened it. She held on firmly to his neck for balance as he sucked all the air out of her lungs, not that she minded of course.

"Wow…" Caroline breathed as Klaus released her lips.

A few seconds passed as they both recovered their breaths. "Not that I mind, but what's with…" she started to ask, but once again, Klaus' assault on her lips hindered the blonde from finishing her phrase.

He pulled away after several seconds and gazed into her eyes. "You lost me at 'I want us'." He confided to her in his so damn sexy British accent.

Caroline first raised her brow at him, then, she started giggling and reattached her lips to his. Klaus kissed her back with a renewed fervor and she rolled them on the bed so she would be half on top of him.

"You're mine?" Klaus asked, disbelief written across his features.

"I'm yours." Caroline confirmed.
