A/N: Glad to see people enjoyed the last chapter. I almost felt bad putting it out because I know it's not my best work. But that chapter was forced. You know when stories start to carve themselves and the characters became real? That's what these two are doing. Anyway. I'm totally stoked to have reached over 150 reviews and a whopping 311 followers and 133 favorites. :D this totally makes me happy. And while I might not have the most timely updates, I promise to not quit on this story until it's finished. Also, this chapter was much easier to write than the last. Hence why it's a little longer.

Chapter 26

Severus looked through the chaos for Hermione, but he had heard the distinctive crack of disapparation. What was she thinking? She might not be able to miscarry anymore, but she could cause great harm to the baby. But he didn't have time to think about that. If he didn't get in there and join the death-eaters, there would be more trouble than he knew he'd be seeing for letting his wife disappear with Harry.

Hermione, Luna, Harry and Ron all stood on the side of a busy street in their nice clothes. It was the first place she thought of, the theater district with her mother.

"Hermione! What are you thinking?"

Harry's voice rang out against the noise of traffic and a few people stopped the look. She knew what he was talking about, but ignored him and began walking. She didn't know what she was looking for, a place to hide, but nothing came to mind. And then she saw it, the coffee shop. A little hole in the wall, empty of all muggles except one employee. And she walked in, knowing that they would all follow, except for maybe, hopefully, Ron.

"Hermione, what do were you thinking? You're pregnant!"

"Harry, stop it, I know-"

"Clearly you don't. If you did, you wouldn't have done something so stupid."

"He knew."

"What? What are you talking about?"

"Harry, Severus knew. He knew that was going to happen. The whole time. When he arrived, during the ceremony, when we danced. He knew that we would be attacked."

"That doesn't excuse what you did. You endangered your child."

"It's his child too. It could be just like him."

"Hermione," Luna interjected, with her soft distant voice, "I know you care about that child. No matter who its father is. Remember, you told me about what happened before. I know how devastated you were."

"Bull shit. She didn't care one ounce for our child!"

Hermione felt cornered. Under attack. Ron really had no idea how heart broken she had been about what she had to do. When it happened, she knew there would be a trial, and she had been hoping they would make the ruling they did. But that was when she thought Ron was the one. That was when she thought she was in love.

"Can I get you guys anything?"

They all looked at the girl, probably no older than twenty as she held her notebook ready to take their order.

Hermione spoke up first, "Just some green tea please."

"A cappuccino please," Harry asked.

"Oh that sounds interesting! I'll have one too please," Luna sang in her usual enthusiasm.

And Ron was the last to order, with a befuddled look on his face, "Um, I guess I'll have the same."

Hermione knew he wouldn't like it. And she had to hold back a laugh at the thought.

"Hermione, look, I get it, it's hard to know that he didn't tell you, but you said it yourself, you're in love. People do crazy things when they're in love. He was probably trying to protect you. And even though I still don't understand, or fully support it, you chose him. You made an unbreakable marriage vow. So you need to think about your child and go back and work things out."

"Harry, it's not that simple. He knew that people I know and love were in danger. He knew, and said absolutely nothing."

Hermione, I think it's time you tell the truth. George knows. I know. Harry is your friend, and at one point, Ron was your love, school year sweetheart. They might understand better if you tell them the truth.

No! Luna, I can't. I've told them this to protect them. Ron has proven to be scarily unstable.

Then why did you run with us? Part of you still trusts him. I don't know why, but you do. Despite him attempting to hurt you, and convincing his mother to poison you. Part of you hopes that he is still the person you gave your virginity to.

Hermione didn't want to admit it, but Luna was right. She knew it. She wasn't thinking when she disaparated with them, but she knew it was because a part of her still trusted that Ron loved her enough to care.

"Hermione?"

She looked at Harry, "What?"

"Didn't you hear me? You can't stay. You might be married to Snape, but if Voldemort finds out you helped us, you're screwed. I'm sorry, but you have to go."

"Please, Harry, don't make me go back."

"I don't care if you go back or not. But you cannot stay here. You cannot come with us. And that's final."

"Harry, please, you don't understand," Hermione was crying, begging now.

"Oh shut up you stupid little slag!" Of course it was Ron to speak. The words dug deeper than she would have admitted. "Harry said no, so you aren't coming. Besides, we both know you're only good for one thing, and you already suck at that, I'm sure pregnancy doesn't help."

She wanted to make a dig. She wanted to hurt him. But she didn't. She didn't have time to when two death-eaters burst in.

The all pulled out their wands, and Hermione struggled to pull herself up to a standing position.

"Well lookie here, Snape's mudblood is back to helping her old friends. Won't He be pleased to find this out? You won't be anything more than a breeding cow for that child and then you'll be dead."

Hermione turned around and pushed her friends with all the force she could muster. "GO! Get out of here!"

And Luna listened, grabbing the boys and disappearing.

"I guess all you have is me again."

She allowed them to pull her brutally forward. And when they appeared on solid ground again she was face to face with her husband and his master.
