The day passed quickly for Havi. He gave his students a paper to do during class, earning him a lot of groans and curses shouted at him, while he wrote down all of the bits of his past life that he would remember. He knew he had been a sorcerer and that the staff in his apartment had been his at one point. He also knew that Haleceles was the same man now as in his past life, but couldn't figure out why he had something against Havi's student.
Havi recalled some childhood memories where he was alone in a giant building with nothing but books for company. He knew that even in his past life he was extremely gifted and unpopular. Except while in his past life that had led to a life of seclusion, this time around it had advanced his career and landed him with colleagues like Clarissa who seemed to force their way into his life without his consent.
He could remember how he had met his student's former self, but not why or where. His student hadn't seemed to change much either, but there was something very important he knew he was forgetting. He felt that his past self was trying to tell him something but couldn't understand what or why. There were too many questions and not enough answers for his liking.
He decided to interrogate Haleceles later about the rest but tried to focus on the here and now. Students turned in the paper near the end of class and he'd have to read them soon or else make it a pass-fail assignment, something that would make him hated by most of his students and loved by the rest.
"Professor?" Havi glanced up at the male student who was standing in front of his desk, staying after everyone else had left.
"Yeah?" Havi grunted.
"I was wondering…" he trailed off, not looking at the professor but at his hands instead.
Havi raised an eyebrow. This student was probably just out of high school: young, naïve and prone to crushing on impressive professors who weren't too old. Havi had gotten many love confessions from girls this age, but only a few from boys. More often the student was too scared to say anything and ended up running from the room in embarrassment.
That was exactly what this boy did. He glanced up at Havi, met his eyes, and mumbled an apology while sprinting for the door.
As he ran through the doors, Haleceles walked in. He held the door open for the fleeing boy and smiled as he watched him go. "I remember you having the same effect on people back when you were my student," he said to Havi.
"Well I don't," Havi said gruffly. "Actually, I think I don't remember a lot about back then. Care to elaborate?"
Haleceles walked over to the desk and the two of them stared each other down. Both looking for something in the other, and not finding it. The wizard sighed. "I hoped to spare you from this fate a second time, but I assume that it is probably for the best. Sit down and I'll explain everything."
Personally I'm not a big fan of Master Haleceles, I thought he should've tried harder to help Vald and Havi instead of just assuming he's have to kill Vald. So in my version he's even more passive than that! I may include him more later, but he's a minor character in the manga so far so won't be big in my story either.
Again, thank you so much for reading! It makes me happy that someone likes what I've put so much time into.
