Clarissa huffed as he watched the student run to meet his friend. "Is that a kid? Is he a student here?"
Havi glanced at the small boy talking to Vald. "I've seen him around on occasion. Does it matter?"
"It's just amazing," she said. "You'd think a young genius would be going to a better school."
Havi shrugged and went back to his office. She followed and continued talking.
"So I got Karla to agree to meet you for coffee sometime. She's shy so you'll need to be a gentleman and pay for everything, and also keep up your side of the conversation! Did you notice that you don't tend to talk that much? But it doesn't matter, 'cause I'm sure you two will hit it off right away!"
"I never agreed to meet this Karla girl," Havi said. He dug some papers out of his desk and shoved them in his backpack. He was going to take his work home today to make sure he wouldn't be disturbed by Clarissa and her useless attempts at match-making.
"You're just shy," she dodged. "You'll be fine once you see how beautiful Karla is!"
"That's not the point."
Clarissa huffed. "Then what is the point? You never agree to anyone I try and set you up with!"
Havi sighed and covered his face with his hand. Dealing with Clarissa was tiring. "I'm already dating someone," he said.
Clarissa was struck dumb for a whole minute. Havi used the time to gather up all that he needed and exit the room. She left after him, but didn't regain the ability to speak until he locked the door and started walking away.
"Oh my gosh! Seriously? You never mentioned her! Why didn't you ever mention her?!"
"He's not exactly the meet-and-greet type," Havi said.
"Of course," Clarissa laughed, not making a big deal of his change of pronoun. "Can I meet him anyway? I want to know who has the ability to put up with you long enough to date you!"
Havi chuckled. "No. He doesn't want people to know."
"Is he still in the closet?" she asked, her voice getting quieter as they passed a group of students.
"In a sense," Havi smirked.
"Then be sure to introduce us as soon as possible!" she said loudly with a huge smile. "I can't wait to meet him! Tell him that!"
"Sure," Havi sighed.
