KPOV:

I open my eyes to a beautiful morning. I take my time getting out of bed and putting on some clothes. I look into my closet to see what I could possibly wear to Arwen's party but I see nothing. What a Shock. I put on some training clothes, grab my short swords, and my bow. Every morning I go out and practice with Elladan and Elrohir. Sometimes we practice for the whole day, other times its just the morning. I always enjoy my mornings; they are always filled with cuts, bruises and dirt. Apart from my father, they have taught me almost everything about fighting. I even rode into battle with them.

Walking down the corridor I see Lindir and Lord Elrond. They both give me a slight smile as I walk past and down the stairs leading to the training hills. Before I reach the bottom of the stairs, Arwen happen to run straight into me.

"Are you alright, Arwen? I did not see you coming up the stairs"

"It was my fault for I was not looking up. Where are you off to?"

"I was heading for the training fields"

"This early? If I know my brothers, they are not probably even awake"

"Well I wanted to get a head start with my bow. I just got a new one a week or two ago. I need to break it in. See"

I show Arwen my hands and she sees the blisters on my hands.

"I see. Maybe, if you would change the grip, it would be less harsh on your hands.

"I've tired that, but alas it would not change the blisters in my hand"

"Well I'm sure we have something in the healing hall for that. A dressing or cream of some kind should heal it faster. Have you tired that?"

….. "Uh"

"Kay, you should really go there more often. You have fast healing because of your elvish side but still, they could easily heal this up in a matter of days"

"I know"

"Then tell me you will go there today. At least before the party"

"You mean to tell me that my blistered hands aren't attractive?"

She stares at me and the bursts out into laughter.

"They are very attractive my friend. I just don't want you to ignore your injuries, like you normally do"

I cannot deny her accusations. It is true. I normally never tend to my injuries. I think of them as minor cuts and bruises

"Have you picked out an outfit for tonight?"

"…no?"

"No? What do you mean no?"

"Arwen you just told me about this gathering last night. It is unfair of you to expect me to have an outfit picked out already"

"You don't have a dress in you closet, do you?"

My goodness, she gets right to the point.

"Not really"

"Then what were you going to wear?"

"I was going to mention it to you"

"When? An hour before the party?"

"…maybe"

"Well, I will correct this wrong. By the time you return to your room, I'll have a dress and circlet picked out for you"

"But you said I could pick out the dress this time"

"I did but, would you rather spend your morning trying on dresses with me, or fighting at the training fields?"

sigh

"Just nothing like last time alright" I say through crush

"It wasn't that bad"

"What are you talking about? It was terrible!"

"I know. I will admit the train was a bit grand for the occasion"

"I can be the entertainment for that evening."

"I shall see you tonight, Kay. I will have your outfit ready for you when you get back from the hall of healing. Make sure you take a bath"

"Arwen, you sound so much like a mother right now"

"I have to go now. There is so much to do and so little time to do it. I will see you at the party"

Arwen dashes by me. No doubt she is going straight to the dress makers. I feel bad because now she has more to worry about, but it was her who insisted on me going so I guess it all balances out in the end. I reach the bottom of the stairs and

…..

"Creek"

"Who goes there?"

I quickly turn to face the direction of where the sound came from. I held my knives out, ready to strike. I look down the hall and see no one. I could have sworn I heard something. Maybe it is my imagination getting the better of me. I turn around to start walking back to the fields and I hear it again

"Creek"

"Who is there?" I ask again but I' don't turn around this time. If I concentrate, I can hear the person's breath and figure out where they are hiding.

"Show yourself."

Nobody is there but I do hear the breath, and it sounds like it is coming from-

"AHA!"

I see a figure jump out at me and suddenly begin to defend myself. I slash my sword high at the body jumping high into the air. Our blades trike each other in mid flight as the person is coming down on me. I quickly moved to the side in hopes of dodging the person as they strike on me. I make a quick turn to face the person attacking me when I suddenly hear behind me footsteps; running closer and closer; hitting the floor faster and faster. I can hear the other person running up on me from behind but I am ready for them. When I hear him raise his blade, I bend down to the floor and swing my foot to trip him. The person anticipates my moves and jumps over my head to land with his other partner in crime.

"Good morning boys"

"You're slipping Kay, we almost had you there"

"Ha please, do not falter yourselves. If I am recalling correctly, it is two against one and you still have failed to land a strike on me. Now who is the one slipping?"

I grin at them. Elladan and Elrohir just grin back. I love fighting these two. Elladan and Elrohir then dash away from me heading towards the training fields.

"First ones to the fields gets to choose who the target is in target practice"

Elladan shouts over his shoulder as he and his brother dash for the fields. They were playing dirty, I love it. I'll win, even at the disadvantage.

We all get to the fields, however, I take a short cut and beat them both by a few seconds. By the time we all get to the field, we are breathing heavily.

"How. Did. You. Beat. Us?"

Elrohir was utterly shocked at my victory. But he was still catching his breath or else he would really be putting up a fight. I was on the grass lying down, trying to catch my breath as well.

"Shortcut"

and I pointed to the tree I used to cut through the armory.

"That's cheating!"

"No it's not, Elladen. It's being intuitive, aware of my surroundings, thinking on my feet"

I use a mocking tone like when they use to teach me. They chuckle for a moment and then we re-position ourselves. I guess to day we are going to start with close combat. No matter, I won the bet so I will have my turn at firing arrows at the both of them.

We spend time fighting until about mid-day. We stop for quick snack but jump right back into it. It was a few hours before the sun would and I still had not been able to have my "target practice"

"Alright, I've had enough close combat. Time for some arrow shooting"

"But isn't time for you to go get dressed for the party?"

"Nice try Elladan but I do not have to be there until later tonight"

"But you told Arwen you would visit the Healing hall before going to the party tonight"

"So you were eavesdropping on our conversation?"

"Better go now. It takes a while to reach the healing hall from here"

They were not lying. The healing hall was decent walk from here, and Arwen would never forgive me if I didn't get some cream for my hurting hands.

"Fine"

"Really?"

"Yeah. I'll let you guys slide this time. Besides, my aim is terrible and if I actually hit one of you guys, Lord Elrond would probably have me thrown out of Rivendell"

I walk back to the house. The healing hall was all the way on the east wing. It is a long walk. I cross over the bridge and turn right at the pass. From here it was a straight walk to the healing hall. When I got there, there was hardly anyone inside; patients and healers. I walked up to the first healer I saw and they automatically could see that I needed cream for my hands.

"Follow me"

I follow the tall elf to a giant dresser with many little containers all inside.

"Show me"

I show the elf my hands and it only takes them a second to find a cream for my hands.

"This is an athelas based cream. Mixed with a few other organic finds, this will heal your hands faster than anything else"

I take the small container, containing a light green shade of cream inside.

"One more thing"

I follow the elf one more time to another dresser where wraps and cloth were stocked.

"Use these bandages for two days. By the third night, your hands should be healed. If they aren't come back and see us for more supplies"

"Okay. Thank you very much"

"You are welcome"

I turn and head out of the healing hall. Unfortunately, my room is at the west end of Rivendell; closer to the stables than any other rooms. That means another long walk to my room. As soon as I reach my door I know what is on the other side. Probably some extravagant dress with fancy jewels to wear with it. I open the door and hanging in my closet is a gown I thought I'd never see. It was a remake of my mothers wedding dress but in a sky blue tint. My mother and father got married in Rivendell with Lord Elrond's blessing. How could I not wear it? It was so beautiful. On the desk there was a circlet, a very basic circlet but none the less elegant. I walked over to it and noticed a note on my desk

NOTE~ Kaydriella, do not forget to take a bath

I walk to my bathroom and see that the tub was filled with clean water. Arwen probably saw to it that I had clean water to bathe in. She really went out of her way. It would be an insult to her if I did not do my part.

After the bath, I put on the dress. It fit perfectly and was absolutely lovely. I looked in the mirror and still could not believe she was able to remake the dress. She has a good memory, everything was exactly how I remembered it. I always would see it in my parent's bedroom but never dreamed of wearing it myself. If there ever was a dress I would ever wear, it is this one. I brush out my hair and by the time I put the circlet in, it is already dark. Looks like I might be a bit late to the party. Good thing I am not an important aspect of it. I step out of my door and notice another note on the floor.

NOTE~ Kay go to the dining hall immediately.

I head for the hall but slowly. I wanted to let the dress drag behind me as I took each step. I closed my eyes and imagined what my mother would think of me, what my father would think. I felt complete wearing my mothers gown. I reach the hall doors and slowly creep them open. I did not hear too much noise, at least not enough noise to justify a party.

POP! Crack! Boom!

"Happy Birthday!"

an entire room roars at the moment I step into the room. I see things fly in the air along with glasses being raised to me. I see the entire hall filled with elves that I've come acquainted with, some even friends with. They all held a glass high in the air at my arrival. There were no words I could say, they just seemed to escape my mind. I look closely at the crowd once more and see Arwen and her brothers grinning uncontrollably. Behind the Lord Elrond gave me a grand smile.

"To one of our newest and most valued member of Rivendell; To Kaydriella!"

Lord Elrond spoke a grand toast and they al drank to me. I wish I had a glass of wine in my hand. Maybe then I could hide my blushing cheeks.

"Now let us celebrate!"

Elrohir speaks next to begin the festivities and to pull some eyes off me. I think he could tell I was getting very uncomfortable standing in front of all those people. Suddenly, someone grabs me from the back and attempts to wrestles me to the floor. I try to fight back but the dress I'm in, strictly demands no roughhousing. I try to think of the only person who would attempt to tackle me down at my own birthday party, but I could visually see Elladan and Elrohir. It must be

"Aragon!"

"Hello there. I see someone has not been training lately."

"If I were not in this dress, I would drop you to the floor and you know it"

"Yes but you are in a dress so I must take advantage of the moment"

Ughhh I try to get out of his hold but alas, he has me in this hold to good.

"Alright fine, I surrender"

Aragorn gives me a very shocked look

"This may be the one dress I like Aragorn, I do not wish for it to get messed up. And may I also add that Arwen made it. So if she were to find out you ripped a tear in it…. Need I go on?"

"I see your point"

Aragorn lets me go and hugs me.

"You look beautiful tonight Kaydriella"

"Thank you Aragorn"

Suddenly I see Fire Works

GANDALF! Where is he? I know he is her. There is no such thing as fireworks and no Gandalf.

"Where is he?" I whisper into Aragon's ear.

"Did someone call for a wizard?" A grand old voice fills the room and everyone goes silent

Then he walks through the doors. Gandalf, the Grey walks through the giant double doors and proceeds to down to the center of the room.

"Where is she? Where is our guest of honor?"

Gandalf looks through the crowd but sees me because of Aragorn's aggressive nudge into the middle of the room.

"Ah, Kaydriella my dear"

"Mithrandir, you are here?"

"Do you think I would miss out on any opportunity to drink on your behalf?"

We both laugh at his joke, because we know it it true. Gandalf always came by almost every year to check on me.

"I am glad you're here Gandalf"

"Me, too Kaydriella, me too"

Author's Notes:

So Here is another revised chapter. Like I said before, these have not been touched in years and I feel like there is so much more I can add to the story. Please, if you would like to, read these early chapters and tell me how you feel about them. Some things have changed, but utterly for the better. I feel like the story is way more compact than the simple chapters I had before. Thanks for sticking with the story. I know the beginning can be rough, that is why I'm revising it.

As to the C2 my story just received, I do not mind that it is on a list of stories a person found poorly written. I bet some of it is a bit rough around the edges because I started this when I was a sophomore in high school. That just means I have so much more improving to do on the story. There is a pledge I plan on signing called "Do it for Frodo" which is against people making C2's or any thing of the sort that can be interpreted as hurtful. I do believe there is a fine line between constructive criticism and degrading put-downs; sometimes we can do hurtful things and not even know it. I encourage all who read this to look up and sign the pledge! Thank you for all your support and I really do appreciate each and everyone of my readers!
