KPOV:

Gandalf always came to visit me; at least once every year. Gandalf helped me a while back. When I thought all hope was lost, he made me see that it wasn't.

"Oh Gandalf, this is a lovely surprise. It has been a while since your last visit. I almost thought you had forgotten me."

"forget you? I could never do that. Valar know you would never let me."

"You must tell me of your adventures. I long to hear of some good fights and adventures"

"From what I gather, you are quite the fighter now."

"Yes. Elladan and Elrohir have trained me well. In the near future, I'm going to try and join Rivendell's militia and fight along side Lord Elrond"

"I see. So is that what you want to do? Fight?"

"…..yes"

"Hmmmm I see. Well you know I wish you all the luck and I will always support you in whatever endeavor you choose"

We both smile back at each other. I've missed him. Back when he first brought me to Rivendell, Gandalf was always here. He would stay at months for a time. As I grew more acclimated with Rivendell, he showed up less and less. It made me cherish the times I would get to see him.

"Alright now this is a party so I'm going to find a drink so if you will excuse me"

Gandalf walks away to go find a drink, no doubt it will be a glass of red wine. The elves always had the best wine. No others could compare. I see Elladan and Elrohir, so I decide to thank them for the lovely party they threw me.

"You two were in on this weren't you"

"We have no idea what you're talking about"

"Then let me ask you this, how did she get you both to show up?"

"Well she is our sister, she asked a favor of us and we complied"

I knew that was a lie. Arwen amy look sweet but she knows ho to blackmail people when she needs them. As for these two, they hate parties almost as much as I do. Although, I have noticed their interest in dancing with pretty elleths. In any circumstance, there was no way these two showed up here of their own free will.

"I know you don't believe us Kay"

"That is correct Elladan. I don't"

"We were not forced to come and if you want proof, here"

Elrohir reached behind him and gave me a small box wrapped in gold paper with a beautiful ribbon on top.

"A gift, my lady."

Elladan nudges Elrohir to correct his statement

"Beg your pardon my lady, a gift from both of us"

At first I just stared at the small box, wondering what could be inside. I then take it for if I didn't I knew they would be offended. They would always get me something for my birthday, however, nothing this grand before.

"What is it?"

"Well if we told you, then we would have wasted the hour it took us to wrap it"

"It took you an hour?"

"This is not our area of expertise"

I laughed a bit. They were embarrassed to admit it but, they did not know how to wrap a present. I gave them both a hug for the wonderful gift. I will not open it now. I sense the present may make me cry.

The party goes on and on, it feels like I've been here forever. I must admit though, I was haiving a relatively good time. Aragorn and I danced and then Elladan and I danced. Elrohir got jelous and asked a dance of me alter the night and after that, I was completely exhausted. I really do not dance at parties but I guess I have to make an acceptation for my own Birthday. The party seems to be dying down a bit so I try to make my escape. Tomorrow is an important day, I have training with the short swords master. There is no way I can be late for that so I sneak out to the balcony and try to make my daring escape

"And where are we slipping off to on this lovely evening?"

I did not have to turn around. I was caught by lord Elrond, himself.

"Good evening my Lord Elrond"

I curtsy all the way down and stay there until told otherwise. The dress really helped hide my terrible curtsy.

"You did not answer my question"

"Oh I apologize. I was just getting some fresh air. It was getting a bit cramped inside"

"I see."

He knew exactly what I was trying to do. He walks over to me and offers me his hand. I take it and he helps me up. We walk over to the edge of the balcony and look out into the night.

"Kaydriella my dear, you have grown so much. Over these past two centuries I've seen you change so much. You bring joy to my old age."

"Much joy you yourself are responsible for. You all have given me a home here. A family here. It is you all who bring joy to my old age"

"I know you believe that you owe me a big debt for receiving you those many years ago. But in truth, you also aided us. Look at how happy you have made my children. I have not seen them like that for a very long time. You changed us as much as we changed you"

We both go silent for a moment to really let our words sink in.

"So I understand you have an important day tomorrow. The short swords master has agreed to give you a trial run. You know, if you win his favor, he will train you to be a master like himself"

"I know. I am very nervous about it. When it comes to close combat, I do better with my short swords than a long sword, but I worry that all my training has not been enough. I'm afraid he might not wish to teach me"

"There is always that fear but you must not let it overcome your skill. I've seen you fight I've seen you take down both my sons. If you can show the master that Kaydriella, you will have yourself a short sword master"

"Do you really think so?"

"Yes, I do. And to ensure you that I believe in you, I brought you this"

Lord Elrond walks back into the hall and quickly comes back out with a gift. I take the gift from him and unwrap it. Inside the wrapping were two brand new short swords. Sharpened and beautifully crafted.

"Lord Elrond, this present is far to grand for me"

"I would beg to differ. They were your father's. I had them remade and sharpened for you. He would have wanted you to have them"

"I don't know how to thank you"

"You can thank me by becoming the next short sword master"

I forget all the rules of proper etiquette and hug Lord Elrond. I do not care, the gifts he has given me are unmatchable.

"Now I am going to go in that direction, which means y back will be facing you Kaydriella. I would certainly hope you return to you party"

Lord Elrond winks at me and then does exactly what he said he would do. It did not take a genius to decipher what Lord Elrond was truly saying. I was grateful, for he is allowing me to escape the rest of the party.

I quickly use the balcony as my way of exit, but I have to be very careful, I wouldn't wish to rip my dress. I used the trees to help me with my devious escape and took off towards my room. I wanted to be well rested for my training session tomorrow.
