KPOV:
"Breathe Kaydriella, just breathe"
"I am fine Lord Elrond, just a bad dream; that's all"
"What did you dream about? If I may ask"
"It was the day I lost my family"
"My dear, say no more"
Lord Elrond embraces me. He knows the pain that day caused me. Only a few know about this. It is not something I like to think on frequent.
"How did you get in here?"
"What do you mean dear Kaydriella? I used the front door"
"No, you know what I mean. How did you know?"
"I was passing by. I had business with Legolas and wished to walk him back to his room"
"You put that elf over on this end?"
"Yes, I did not realize you had a problem with my decision"
"I don't. You normally house guests closer to the central part of the house"
"Ah yes but this guest seems to know his way around quite well and he prefers more quite places to rest. You do not make as much noise as my sons so I thought it wise to put him here"
"My lord Elrond I-"
Both of our heads turn to see the very guest we were speaking of. The elvish prince was standing at the other side of my door staring straight at us. I may add that he was definitely underdressed for any formal confrontation.
"Oh please forgive me. I did not know you were speaking with another. I heard your voice and wanted to discuss something with you but I did not mean to intrude. Forgive me"
"Legolas, this is not my room. Your apology is misplaced is it not?"
"It is indeed"
The prince turns to me and bows to me.
"Forgive me my lady, I did not mean to interrupt"
I bow my head back in acceptance of his apology. The elf then turns to go back the way he came.
"My Lord Elrond, do go after him. His conversation will probably be vastly more stimulating than mine"
"Are you sure you're alright?"
"Absolutely"
Lord Elrond leaves my chambers and walks to follow Legolas. I try to go back to sleep in hope of getting a bit more rest. Alas, I did not get anymore sleep that night. The next morning, I was at the practice field an hour early. There was no way I was going to be tardy again.
I meet with the master and train all day. We do not break for food until it is well past mid day. We worked mainly on my form and footwork. I did not even get to pick up a blade today. He said that I would not need my blades for a long time. Not until I mastered everything else. Finally, he dismisses me for the day and I am completely drained. My shoulders hurt from being under this intense amount of work. I should probably stop by the healing hall to grab some sort of tonic for my aching muscles. On m to the hall, my mind was so adrift I did not even notice the elf in front of me that I walked straight into.
"I beg your pardon my lord. I was not paying attention"
"My Lady Kaydriella, do not apologize. It seems that I was also not paying attention either"
It was that prince again. Why must he keep showing up. Although he was heartbreakingly beautiful, I would bet he already had another, or at least deserved a princess just as beautiful as himself.
"May I inquire to where you may be going, my lady?"
"Firstly, if we are to keep meeting like this please just call me Kaydriella or Kay for short. There is no need for such formalities with me"
"That seems fair, so long as you would do the same with me. Now where are you off to?"
"I was going to get something to ease the pain in my shoulders. They hurt from this new technique I must learn."
"That's right. You have just begun an apprenticeship have you not"
"I have"
"You are to study under the swords master"
"I am"
"How do you fare so far?"
"It is tough but nothing I cannot handle"
"I see."
"If you would excuse my Legolas, my shoulders are aching for some relief and if I do not give it to them soon, they will jump off and leave me"
He laughed at my joke
"We wouldn't want that would we"
I bow as my goodbye and continue on my way to the healing hall. When I get there I notice both Elladan and Elrohir were inside. They looked pretty bad from where I stood so getting any closer could horrify me. None the less, I walk up to them. They were lying on two beds side by side no doubt and they both looked badly injured.
"Mani marte?"(What happened?)
"We were doing a patrol along the borders when suddenly we were attacked"
"Attacked? By what?"
"By Orc's"
"Orc's? That close to our borders? That cannot be."
"It was orc's for sure. There is no way to miss them"
"How were they able to overcome you? If you were patrolling than you must have had other elves with you. Wait, where are the others?"
"There at least we can bring some honor to ourselves. We sent the other riders back. There was never a hint of threat before near this area and saw no reason to drag more men and horses out."
"So you patrolled it yourselves"
"Exactly"
"Does your father know?"
"Not yet"…
It only took two seconds for everyone in the room to grow silent for they all shuddered in fear of who was standing at the entrance to the hall.
"What in the Valar is going on in here?"
Lord Elrond stood at the entrance to his healing hall and saw his sons beaten and bruised.
"Well now he does" Elladan whispered to Elrohir
I was in no way up to defend their actions but I couldn't just leave them to be yelled at. Why must they make horrible yet accidently good decisions.
"My sons making reckless decisions on patrol? You two are supposed to be model soldiers and instead you make a terrible judgment call as this one?"
The two said nothing. They knew this was coming. They knew he had every right to be upset with them. Everyone in the hall began to slowly clear out. No one wanted to see this for Lord Elrond rarely ever shed his calm demeanor.
"This is unacceptable. I must punish both of you starting with no more patrols and you no longer are allowed off Rivendell soil"
This was bad. We all knew Lord Elrond was going to punish them more even strip them of their position. I couldn't take a chance, I had to distract him somehow.
"My Lord Elrond-"
"-Not now Kaydriella. I am not finished with these two"
"Please my lord, Elladan and Elrohir tell me of an orc pack, the pack that attacked them by the border. Please, if this pack is as close as they say, it will only cause trouble entering our lands. Allow us to go take care of this mess"
"This is not your mess to clean up Kaydriella"
"I know it isn't but it still needs to be cleaned up. They obviously cannot do it alone. Let me help"
Lord Elrond finally broke his deathly glare and turned to face me.
"I would not wish for you to go alone, nor do I want these two going with you. They are too injured to provide any use to you. I will send another to take their place. Are you sure you want to do this? You have had a long day and with all this new training, I fear it may impair you"
"I will be fine. Besides, it will be one less thing to worry about. All I ask is that you be lenient towards Elladan and Elrohir. Yes, they messed up, but they still saved the lives of their soldiers by doing so. Surly some praise is needed there, even if it was by chance"
"Go, and be careful. I will deal with these two. You will leave within the hour. Make yourself ready my dear and meet you companion at the stables"
I immediately left. I only had a little bit of time to grab my things and head to the stable. Lord Elrond has me leaving within the hour so it will be a rush. I wonder who he is sending with me.
Authors Note's:
Another chapter revised! I know this one may be on the shorter end but my chapters do get longer as you continue to read. Also, again I would advise against reading the next chapter to all the new readers because I am revising them and many things will not make sense. I guess I could take the entire story down to do so but I don't feel like doing that, sorry. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Comment if you like it and I'll get the next chapter out ASAP!
