KPOV:

I grabbed my short swords and my bow. I didn't know who was coming with me so if they wanted me to shoot, I could. I'm not the best at archery, but I am still better than most. When I get to the stables, I do not see another person there. Maybe they are running late. I saddle Fae-Hun, my horse, and walk him out of the stables. There still is no sign of the other person coming with me and I don't want to be here any later. Just as I was about to mount, Legolas pulls his horse up next to me all equipped and ready for a fight.

"So you are the one Lord Elrond sent to come with me?"

"And it would seem that you are the one I am accompanying"

"Elladan and Elrohir said that they were attacked towards the south part of the border. We should start there"

"Sounds logical"

"Alright just follow me"

I know this place better than he does and it would only make sense that I take point on this. Besides, I can take care of myself, I don't really need his help. We ride in silent for a good deal of the time. Finally, Legolas breaks the awkward silence

"Are you sure you are able to this Kaydriella?"

"I beg your pardon?"

I slow down my horse because we are approaching the area, but also out of shock that he would say something like that.

"I do not mean it as an insult my lady. I was just thinking that you might be a bit tired from earlier today"

"What do you mean, Prince Legolas?"

Since he was bringing back the formalities, so was I. He didn't some happy about me putting Prince in front of his name.

"I saw you today, training that is. It looked pretty tough and-"

"-And what? You think I am not strong enough to do this?"

"No, I just meant that if you are not at your strongest, you might want to consider letting me take the lead. If we are to fight together, it would be strategically better for me to go first"

"Look, you are correct in your assumption that I am tired from this morning. But you are wrong in thinking that you should take point. I know these lands better than you and I would be more of a surprise to the Orc pack. I could lure them out"

"Lure them out? You would use yourself as bait?"

"It sounds bad when you say it like that Legolas, but yes"

"I cannot agree to this. You could get hurt"

"Can you shoot?"

"What do you mean?"

"Can you shoot from a reasonable distance away?"

"Yes, I can. But I fail to see the relevance"

"Then it is settled. I will lure them out and fight on the open plain. You stay hidden within the trees and make ranged shots"

"But-"

"Don't worry, you'll be fine. There is not a chance in the world I would let Lord Elrond's special guest get hurt"

I dismount myself and set my horse to the side. I do not tie him down because he might need to flee without me. Right as I begin my way to the open plain, Legolas grabs my arm.

"I do not like this plan Kaydriella"

"I never asked you to like it"

"You could get seriously hurt"

"Legolas, I would not have offered this solution to Lord Elrond if I couldn't accomplish it. I will be fine, and so will you. There is nothing to fear"

I reassure him and break through his grasp. He wasn't holding on to tight, but tight enough to stop me from walking. I take the lead again, and begin to walk out into the open plain. This is where the twins told me they were attacked. I keep walking forward and notice a piece of material. It looks and feels like elvish silk. No doubt this is where they were attacked. I recall some ranger skills Aragorn tried to teach me. I was able to follow some orc tracks that lead me right to two orc scouts. I motioned to Legolas to relocate. He would have a better shot if he were to move along the border of the forest. I too was a reasonable distance away from the scouts so I thought it best to shoot them down. I grab my bow off my back and quickly notch an arrow. As soon as I released it, I would give away my position. Oh well, it would not matter sooner or later. I released the arrow and it shot straight through the orcs head. The other scout sees me and releases a vicious battle cry. However, before he could end it, I sent another arrow straight through his head. I then wait for the rest to come over that small hill. I count ten before I begin to shoot again. This time Legolas is shooting with me. We are able to take down a decent amount of them, but they were getting closer and some were throwing spears at me. I need to drop the bow and take out my swords. As soon as I unsheathed them, and orc came up to attack. I easily dodged his attack and sliced his arm off in the process. He fell to the ground grasping the open wound. Another came at my head, but I was able to duck and cut him in the stomach. Two more were coming my way and I prepared myself, that is until they both fell to the ground with arrows in their bodies. I see some of them are beginning to understand our plan because they begin to run towards the woods. I quickly run after them and kill a few more, but some of them are just too fast. I notice more and more keeping coming up from that hill, I cannot believe this many were able to slip past our senses. Legolas can handle the few orcs coming after him. I had to do something about the ones that keep coming over that hill. I run towards it in hopes of getting a better idea of the number we are facing but I never make it there. I massive Orc comes up from the hill with a bow and arrow and begins to aim for me. I quickly doge to the right, but the arrow does manage to graze my left arm. The pain was instant. No doubt they dip their arrow heads in a poison of some kind. It was just a scratch though. There was no way I could get up close to this orc and more kept coming for me. So now I had an Orc shooting at me while, the others were trying to kill me up close. I guess this is how the orc feel about Legolas and me. The only difference is that I am way harder to kill. The orc's that got up close to me died in an instant. They could not match up to my skill. But I still had that archer shooting at me. Only a few Orc remained but they all were heading straight for me. I couldn't take them all on with the archer still persueing me.

"LEGOLAS! THE ARCHER! Ndengina ta!" (Kill it!)

The last three orcs were a bit timid in facing me. They knew that their lives were about to end very soon. They all stood in fear of what I was going to do to them. I had no patience for their incompetence, I swiftly ran up and cut into two of them, the third Legolas put an arrow in. I looked over all the dead bodies lying on the plain, their blood staining the lands of Rivendell.

"Kaydriella! Kaydriella!"

Legolas came running out of the forest to see if I was okay. I turned around to see that not a single hair out of place.

"I'm fine Legolas. No need to worry. They did not stand a chance. We need to pile the carcasses and burn them. Only then can Rivendell be rid of their foul stench"

"I will pile them; you are injured"

Legolas acknowledges my arm.

"It is no injury. Just a mere cut from an arrow. We need to finish what we started"

Legolas nodded his head and we began to pile the bodies as afar away as we could put them. Legolas carried more than me but I didn't care. I was just glad this was over. Now we can go back and rest easy. Once they all were piled all we had left was to light them on fire.

"Light them up Legolas"

He does as I say and we head back to our horses. I try not to look at him because he is looking at me. Eye contact would make that even more awkward. Once we reach the horses, I mount mine as quickly as I can. Legolas, however, is digging through a saddle pocket and pulls out an herb.

"I really would feel much better if you at least put this on your cut until we get back. Many of their arrows are dipped in poison and it will need further attention"

Legolas hands me a clump of Atlealas and a small piece of cloth to hold it in place. He then mounts his horse and pulls it closer to me.

"Please, allow me"

Legolas takes the herbs and places it on my cut. He then wraps the cloth around and ties it. He does it so perfectly, like he is adept in the skill. I wonder, how old is he?

"Thank you"

"Your welcome"

He stares at me and this time I look back. It was awkward, this eye contact. I break it of course and thank him one last time.

"Also, thank you for killing the archer. I'm afraid I would have way more cuts if you were not able to kill him"

"It was no trouble"

We begin riding back

"I'm impressed with your range Legolas. Many elves cannot shoot as far as you. You must be quite an expert with a bow"

"I have been in many battles; I know my weapon well. Just like you. You seem to know your short swords very well too"

"I am still learning. As you know, I aspire to be a master someday. But I still have a long way to go"

The rest of the ride back is silent. Only the ambience of nature fills the rest of our travels. When we get back, night has already fallen. The stable boy takes our horses and we both head directly to Lord Elrond to fill him in on our task. Lindir takes us to him directly.

"Lord Elrond"

We say simultaneously as we bow

"Come now there is no need for that. Tell me, what did you face"

Legolas began but I had other plans

"My Lord Elrond, Kaydriella and I, we-"

"-We would like to know about Elladan and Ellrohir. Are they alright?"

Legolas gives me the strangest of looks when I cut him off. He does not know what I'm doing. Lord Elrond, however does.

"They are quite well Kaydriella. Now Legolas tell me what happened"

"Well Lord Elrond as I was saying I-"

"-Legolas wishes to know the punishment given to your two sons. He is very worried for them."

"He is worried for my sons? Where would he ever get a thought like that Kaydriella?"

Legolas turns around and speaks to me

"Kaydreilla?"

"Just go with it Legolas"

He looks at me a bit worried but nods. He turns back around and says to Lord Elrond

"I believe I am also interested in knowing the latest status of your sons"

"Are you sure Legolas? You would not wish to ruin a wonderful friendship just to create some mischief with a young elleth who should not stick her nose into business that is not hers"

Oh Lord Elrond was going to use his long lasting friendship with Legolas to win him against my plan. How could I compete with that?

"With all due respect my lord, after witnessing Kaydriella in battle, I would not wish to do anything that might upset her. I would never wish to be on the receiving end of her blades."

"Legolas, I would have to agree with you on that notion so I will tell you of Elladan and Elrohir. They are to be on strict be rest until they get bet better. Once they recover, they will be inactive soldiers for a year and remain on stable duties"

"half a year"

I'm going to try and barter with him. I've done it in the past. Lord Elrond can't help but laugh at the audacity of my attempt to bargain but he knows it comes from a good place. He responds

"Eight months"

"Five months"

He laughs even more at my retort.

"My dear that is not how it works. You start with your lowest, and I start with my highest. You cannot go lower then your first offer"

"Four months"

"No. You cannot barter with their punishment. Legolas, tell me what happened before I lose all my sanity"

Legolas gives me an apologetic look. I guess that is his way of telling me I lost the battle. Legolas responds

"Three months? My lord?"

I cannot believe Legolas would go to all this trouble for me. I'm sure the ramifications wont be pleasant.

"Alright fine! For the sake of my head and patience I'll make it five months. But this will not happen again. Am I understood?"

We both nod vigorously. I cannot believe that worked.

"Now will someone please just tell me what happened?"

Legolas tells him for I think he still in better standing with Lord Elrond than me right now. I stand in the back waiting for their conversation to end. When it does, Lord Elrond summons me and Legolas leaves the room.

"Legolas tells me that you fought well. Actually he marveled at your swordsmanship. No doubt Master Arthion will be pleased. He also told me of an injury you sustained"

"It is just a minor cut. I was shot at by an archer and his arrow grazed my arm"

"May I?"

I turn so that he may unwrap Legolas' cloth and see the cut. It looked much worse than when we were first looking at it. Lord Elrond went to touch the skin around the cut and I flinched because it hurt immensely.

"Unfortunately the arrow that grazed you was dipped in the diabolical poisons. But we can get ride of this here, no problem"

Lord Elrond, himself tended to my cut. He was very careful not to irritate it any more than it already was.

"If I may ask, did Legolas wrap this up? Because we both know you didn't"

"He did."

"What do you think of him?"

"I think he is a very skilled archer"

"He has had time to perfect his skills"

"Skills my lord?"

"Oh yes, there are many things Legolas is skilled at. You have only seen one of them"

"How old is he?"

"That is a question for him, not me"

"You don't know do you"

Lord Elrond smiled again

"Even if I did know, I would not tell you. There you are all done. Be sure to get that changed everyday until a week has past. If it still looks like that, then we will try another dressing. Alright?"

"Alright"

"Oh and Kaydriella, one more thing, you should probably thank Legolas for helping you. You know with both your agendas"

He is right. I really do need to thank him. If it were not for him, I would not have been able to get Lord Elrond to change his mind. By now though, it is well into the night and I am completely exhausted. I will have to thank him tomorrow.

Author's Notes:

I told you these revised chapters would be coming out soon. I decided to completely rewrite this one. Just because it was very messy before and this will give a stronger connection between these three characters. As always R&R. Again, there will be continuity issues because I am still in the process of revising. You can always PM me if you have any questions. Thanks for reading!
