Chapter 28
Clark woke the next morning. He felt lighter, he had made his decision, now he needed to let Lois and Diana know his choice. Before he could move to get up, his communicator went off.

Earlier in Themyscira…
Diana awoke to a tight pain in her stomach. She clutched her stomach and moaned. This must be it, she thought. Her mother had placed two guards outside her bedroom for just this reason. Diana called for the guards. They rushed into her room, saw her clutching her stomach and one ran for to notify the Queen and Epione. The other stayed with Diana. Diana was breathing heavily while her stomach spasmed again.
She asked the guard to hand her her communicator from the nightstand.
"Wonder Woman to Watchtower" she panted.
"This is Watchtower" she heard Bruce's voice.
"Batman…I need Kal here now!"
"Diana, are you okay?" Bruce asked.
"Batman I need Kal here now!" she ended on a long growl, "it's time!"

"Superman, this is Watchtower." Clark heard in his communicator.
"Superman…" he replied.
"Superman you need to transport to Themyscira immediately," Bruce said. "It's time!"
Clark jumped from his bed, changed into his uniform and ran to get Ma.
"Ma, hurry, we have to leave, Diana is in labor." Ma came running out of the kitchen, and Clark grabbed her and flew them to the Embassy. They were immediately granted access to the portal and were at the palace within ten minutes after his communicator had gone off.
The two were rushed to Diana's chambers. Clark burst through the door and ran to Diana's side. She was grasping her stomach, panting and moaning. Clark grabbed her hand.
"Diana, I'm here!"
"Kal! Thank Hera!" she moaned again.
Epione talked the Princess through the contractions. Clark decided to see how their son was doing. He used his x-ray vision.
That's when everything stopped. The pain, the spasms, they just stopped.
Diana looked up, "they stopped?"
Martha spoke first, "I think you were having Braxton Hicks contractions. It is just your body's way of preparing to give birth.
Clark then added, "he hasn't moved down the canal, you weren't dilated, I think Ma is right." Clark wrapped his arm around Diana's shoulders.
She leaned into him. "I thought it was real." she whispered.
Kal turned her head to face him, "Diana, I'm sure it felt real, besides, I would rather you call me for a false alarm than me missing the birth of our son." Martha patted Diana's leg. "its okay Dear."
Hippolyta invited the Kents to breakfast. Diana was left to get dressed and the rest of the party moved to the dining hall. She joined them as soon as she was dressed. She sat between her Mother and Kal.
After breakfast, Clark took his mother home, reminding Diana to contact him no matter what. He got to the Daily Planet late and Lois was at her desk.
"Where have you been Clark, I called three times!" she asked.
"Diana called this morning," he replied quietly. Lois gasped and looked at him. "Did she?…so you have?…" Lois sputtered.
"It was false labor." he replied. He watched as Lois took a deep calming breath. "but, we think she will go into labor soon."
"oh!" Lois replied.

It had been a week since Diana had the Braxton Hicks contractions. Clark got ready, today was his weekly counseling appointment with Lois.
He walked into Dr. Bailey's waiting room and sat down. Lois wasn't there yet, so he quietly waited. His phone vibrated, he had a new text message. Lois was going to be late.
Just then Dr. Bailey called his name. He sat down and let her know Lois would be late. Dr. Bailey asked if he had thought about her last question.
"I have, I really have thought about his a lot." he replied, " I need your advice…I really been thinking and there is something I need your advice about."
Dr. Bailey listened as Clark talked about his thoughts and feelings, she gave him some advice and then there was a knock at the door. It was Lois.
Dr. Bailey had Lois sit down, why don't we pick up where we left off last time, "Clark, why did you marry Lois?"
Clark took a deep breath, he then looked into Lois' eyes.
"When I first met Diana, I was infatuated, I was brash and I didn't know how to handle myself. The more I got to know her, the more I realized that we came from two different worlds and I couldn't compete. I decided she was too good for me. I moved on. We were friends. I had always been friends with you Lois, when we first met I had strong feelings for you. You didn't feel the same way about me. It wasn't until you knew more about me that you even considered dating me. I proposed because I was in love with you, I wanted to spend my life with you. Lois, I thought I was over her,I thought I could happily move on and never have to think about the what ifs. I thought I was doing what was best for her and for you. I've messed this up, Lois, I do love you, but, I am in love with Diana."
Lois stifled a sob.
"I think we need to do what's right for both of us, I didn't want to hurt you Lois, I wanted to protect you, but I did hurt you and for that I am sorry. I think we need to stop pretending we can fix this.
Lois stared into Clark's eyes. She shook her head as the tears rolled down her cheeks. "I think I have always known that you were waiting for the time you could be with her…I just thought we had more time together first." Lois cried into her hands. "Clark, I want a divorce."
