GPOV:
"SARUMAN!?"…. no response.
"I know you can hear me!"….. no response.
"Please let me out!"…..Silence
"Please!... please, please, please!"
Kaydriella begins to cry again. It is too dark for her to see her wounds bleeding out. She feels less and less but she does not realize the damage she has sustained. Only streaks of sunlight, through the cracks of the dungeon, provide light for her. Her wrists are chained to the wall and she can only move a few inches away before her restraints kick in. She wondered if she will ever get to see the sun again. Little did she know of the brew Saruman was making above her.
Saruman began to work on a spell. The spell was ancient and very fragile. If one thing went wrong, if the transfer got disturbed in any way, there could be fatal consequences. The spell required time; it was a slow and rigorous process. He had to put Kaydriella in a deep sleep so he instructed Grima to pour a powdery substance into the one air way going through the dungeon. This toxic fume wouldn't kill her but it will put her in a deep sleep. Once Grima Returns he can begin the power transfer spell.
"Master Saruman, the powder has been spilled. Lady Kay will be snoozing in no time"
"Very good Grima. Now your final task is to make sure I am not disturbed. Once I begin, I cannot be interrupted. Do you understand?"
"Yes Master. May I, however, inquire a small question of thee before I take me leave?"
"What is it Grima, be quick with your tounge"
"What is to become of her Ladyship? Mistress Kay?"
"Why do you care? She is of no importance to you. Is she?"
"No master. I was just wondering what will be done with her by the end of all this."
"What would you suggest I do with her once I get what I want? Would you prefer me to put her under your care once I am finished?"
"Master, I would do what you wish. If you would give me the responsibility of Mistress Kay after, then I would never object"
"Grima you are now pestering me. If you wish to obtain her after my objective is completed then you may. I will warn you however, if she survives, she will most definitely be altered. She will be very different and changed. Do you find this agreement fair?"
"Yes sire. I am in your debt. "
"Then get out and return to your duties and no matter what you do not interfere with Kay or myself for the next two moons. Understand?"
"Yes sire"
"Then out with you."
Grima leaves Saruman to begin his work. What Saruman has not revealed is that this spell will put Kaydriella under extreme duress and pain. The spell is ancient and rarely done because of the number of failed attempts and deranged mages left to wander the earth. He was, however, absolutely certain that his strong will can dominate the spell the entire time and leave nothing to chance. He will obtain her magic and she will survive. The pain, he could not spare her from. He looked for other options but ultimately this is the only way.
Saruman began to repeat the chant to mark the beginning of the spell. About a few minutes into the spell he heard uncontrollable screaming coming from underneath the floor. Saruman knew exactly from whom it came from. He hoped the pain would not start till at least a deeper part of the spell. He did not know what hurt more, the pain of guilt thumping underneath his chest, or the piercing screams filling his ears and head.
Gandalf's POV:
I have told Frodo everything I know. We must move quickly and stealthy. Frodo begins to pack his bag and I feel a slight tinge of guilt for making him do this. I do not have all the information I require so I must seek Saruman's council.
"You must leave. And leave quickly"
"Where? Where do I go?"
"Get out of the Shire. Make for the village of Bree."
"Bree. What about you?"
"I'll be waiting for you. At the inn of the Prancing Pony."
"And the ring will be safe there?"
I could not lie to him.
"I don't know Frodo. I don't have any answers. I must see the head of my order. He is both wise and powerful. Trust me Frodo, he'll know what to do"
I help Frodo put on his bag and cloak. He reminds me so much of Bilbo right now.
"You'll have to leave the name of Baggins behind you. That name is not safe outside the Shire. Travel only by day. And stay off the road"
I notice Frodo tucking in the ring in his front, left, vest pocket. I handed him a walking stick and could only smile at the sight of him.
"I can cut across country easy enough"
"My dear Frodo, Hobbits really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month, and yet after one hundred years they can still surprise you"
I was very proud of Frodo. He was becoming so very brave in this short period of time. Then I heard something from the window. A slight rustle in the bushes.
"Get Down"
I walk slowly over to the window. There is nothing that my naked eye can see. I use my staff to stun the creature eavesdropping on my conversation.
"OW"
What? Who is this. I grab down and pull up a hobbit. It is Samwise. Of all the insidious tricks to play.
"Confound it all Samwise Gamgee! Have you been eavesdropping?"
"I haven't been dropping no eaves. Honest. I was cutting the grass under the window there. You follow me"
"A little late for trimming the verge don't you think?"
"I heard raised voices"
"What did you hear? Speak."
I did not realize I was now yelling at Sam.'
"n' n' nothing important. That is, I heard a good deal about a ring, a Dark Lord, and the end of the world but; Please sir, don't hurt me. Don't turn me into anything, unnatural. "
"No? Perhaps not. I've thought of a better use for you."
GPOV:
Saruman has gone through more than half this spell. On a good note, Kaydriella's screaming had subsided. The spell was nearly complete. All that was left was to secure both vessels and close the connection line between the two. This still would take a long period of time and power. Saruman was weak. His body sore, and his mind crunching under the pressure, he was ready to take a break. Sadly no break could be taken. The spell must be completed in full.
It took half the night to finish the spell. When everything was over, Saruman felt powerful but weak. The spell drained him physically and mentally even with his newly acquired powers. As soon as he was fit to do so, Saruman would have to report his success to Sauron. He however was not up to the task at this moment and would have to postpone the meeting until he was stronger.
Kay's pain, sadly, did not go away. She was in pain for most of the spell. Thankfully her body shut her down, leaving her unconscious on the dungeon floor. But this did not happen until the half way point. That's when her screams and crying stopped. She just had a part of her being, forcibly sucked out of her, and put into another. It was like severing ones soul from their body using only a blunt knife. Excruciating pain was an understatement.
Grima went down to check on her, after Saruman went to rest. He brought the small, lit, candle to her face and he saw emptiness. She was paler than a sick elf, and broken like a piece of wood cut in half. Grima finally understood what Saruman's meaning when he said she would not be the same. All he could do was sit there with her. He rearranged her body into a more suitable position and left a small cup of water for her when she would wake up. Grima couldn't help it; he released her wrist restraints and laid her flat on her back. He placed a kiss upon her cheek.
"I am sorry for what has been done to you"
With that said he takes off his cloak and cushions her head, like a pillow. He leaves the candle down there if she wakes up before its light goes out. He walks up the stairs and closes the door behind him. He does not regret any of his actions.
