As the pod flew through space you could hear the screams of the two passengers inside, both frantic and terrified of the speed in the situation they were in. As he kept screaming Bernie felt as if he would pass out from all the exhilaration. He in fact he almost did till the ship shifted making a sort of bump to shake the ship. Flo screamed as she lost her grip and clung on to the first thing she could, not really thinking on what she was doing and not caring. Bernie felt something cling on to him. He gasped as he looked down and was shocked at the sight.
Flo was holding on to him for dear life her body shaking and her eyes teary. His breath caught in his throat. Here he was screaming out of his mind, and experienced adventurer, and here beside him was someone with no experience at all. He could see Flo was scared out of her mind, never experience such a thing until a while ago. A determined looked spread across his face.
Right now was no time for him to panic but for him to be strong. He held on to the woman beside him, clinging not in fear but in determination as he brought her to his chest and said "Don't worry Flo. I am right here. I won't let anything happen to you." Flo dug her face into his chest feeling comforted by the hug and his words but could still not stop the panic in her.
Then it happened, the pod began to rattle and shake. Bernie clung tighter to Flo so the shaking would not rattle her more. Though he felt his own nerves where shot. Flo could not stop her shaking but in this position she somewhat felt safe. She had never had anyone but her family ever hold her like this and feel safe. Even in the situation they were in, one that has left her in complete panic, the feeling of someone caring enough to help her somehow calmed her enough to think a bit straighter. At this moment she began to pray, Bernie heard her praying and put his own head down and began to do the same.
Suddenly one more jostle, a big one, enough to shake them to their very core shook the ship and then stopped in an instant. They still clung to each other for a moment, unsure of what had just happened. Bernie looked up saying "We, we are alive?" Flo shook but brought her head up and looked around the ship and her eyes caught sight of the windows. There she saw sunlight and a blue sky. She replied with "We made it."
She gasped as she thanked God for her life, crumbling down from her experience. Bernie cried in joy and did the same as they both got to their knees still holding each other, just happy they were alive. Then Flo thought of something "Bernie, where are we?" This caught the red heads attention as he shakily got up to a monitor, it was broken in a crack and frizzed but as he touched it, it came to life and a female voice said in a broken voice "Welcome to Westen, planet of the wild west where cowboys make their homes in the small towns of this dessert planet along with native Americans."
Suddenly the machine shot down and broke fritzing out. Bernie jumped back but then said "Oh no no no!" Flo said "What!" as she got up she wen to Bernie who was franticly trying to fix the machine but sighed as he said "I cannot fix the machine, we could of possibly found a way to fix it and contact the team but it seems everything was destroyed while entering the planet's atmosphere." "Oh no!" Flo groaned as she sat back down from exhaustion and the news.
She then said "What do we do now? Neither of us are probably able to walk properly after that fiasco, so we have to rest before we go out there and look for help." Bernie jumped at that saying "Help?" Flo nodded replying "Yes help, and maybe even parts for the ship. This place may be a wild west town but there's still mettle." Bernie sighed saying "That is true and that would mean I might be able to repair the ship. If not there must be some sort of homing beacon on the ship. So the others should know where we are in time."
Flo nodded saying "Well that's good at least." She got up and looked outside and saw nothing but dessert. She sighed as she got on a bunk and laid down saying "We should rest, then we'll go out and look for help. Is there anything on the ship we can take with us?" Bernie looked around for a compartment and said "No it seems there is nothing we can use to help us." She sighed saying "Then we'll have to leave as soon as we wake up, we can't stay here with no food and water or we won't make it. Good thing the pod is cool so we won't lose water while we rest. And even thought we might face predators, without water we should probably travel at night to reserve strength."
Bernie then said "But how will we see?" She sighed saying "That's the one problem." Suddenly she hit something on the wall, she looked to it, open it and said "Well look at that. I must have blocked the sight of this compartment. It looks like a bit of food and water and even some flashlights. I still say we should travel at night, we might have to deal with predators and bandits though."
Bernie gulped saying "Bandits, predators?" She nodded saying "Yes Bernie we're in a wild setting so those are known to be here. But I still think it's better for us to go at night when we won't lose as much water while finding a town that might be miles away." Bernie sighed but nodded lying in another bunk as he sighed looking up and hoping the others would find them soon. The two then fell asleep from exhaustion.
