"Why did you not tell me?"

"Legolas, I never intended on concealing this forever. I was going to tell everyone, when I was ready"

"How long have you had this? Been like this?"
"Legolas I am in no mood to be picked apart by the likes of you or anyone for that matter"

"You owe me an explination. You owe me the truth-"

"That is all I have ever told you. I have always been honest with you. Are you really going to jeopardize our friendship just because I hid the most shameful thing about myself from you? If so you are no Mellon of mine"

There, I said it. I don't owe him anything. If he was truly my friend, he would respect my feelings. At least the Hobbits aren't so shallow. I go to sit by Frodo, who still seems a bit surprised at my powers. Why wouldn't he be? At least he isn't acting like I grew a third leg or something. Aragorn has not even looked in my direction since the avalanche and Boromir is keeping his distance from me. I feel alone. Gandalf stood up for me but he is trying to open a dwarf door right now. Gimli was just excited that we would be visiting his cousin, Balin. Pippin seems to be frustraighting Gandalf so he walkls away and stands by Merry. We all sat and stood silent for a while. If Gandalf couldn't open the door than I doubt anyone else could.

Merry and Pippin began throwing rocks in the small pond facing the door. Frodo got up from the rock and took a try at the riddle. At the same time Aragorn was growing a worried face from Merry and Pippin. He made the two sop throwing rocks.

"Speak friend and enter. What's the elvish word for friend?"

"Mellon" Gnadlaf answered the question, and sunddenly a low rumble began. The stone doors ddragged open and a very foul odor rushed out. It was such a foul smell. We all slowly approached the door way and walked in. It was completely dark.

Gimli was so excitied to show off his culture to the fellowship.

"Now, you'll master Baggins, the hospitality of the dwarfs. Mauling fires, ripe meat nipped fresh off the bone. And they call mine. A mine

I move closer to Boromir and Legolas because they can see beyond the dark as can I. Something is greatly a miss here. I stumbled over something and Boromir catches me before I fall. We both look at what I fell over and it was a skeleton, a skeleton wearing dwarfish irons.

"This is no mine. It's a tomb"

Gimli's mood suddenly changes. He runs from one skeleton to another, screaming in agony of his fallen brethren. Legolas runs to a skeleton and pulls out an arrow. He studies is for about a second and knows exactly who has done this travesty.

"Goblins!" Legolas notches an arrow and everyone pulls out their blade. We slowly back up making our way out of this horrid place.

" We make for the Gap of Rohan. We should have never of come here. Now get out of here GET OUT!"

Suddenly there is a yell from behind us from where the hobbits were.

"Frodo!"

"Strider!"

Sam yells for Aragorn and goes after Frodo. Sam cuts the tentacle holding Frodo's ankle but more splash out of the water and grab Frodo once more, this time lifting him high in the air. Boromir and Aragorn go straight into the water cutting at the monsters tentacles. Legolas begins firing at the monster from afar. I put my swords back in their sheaths and grab my bow from my back. I stand next to Legolas and begin firing as well. He looked at me at first but I pretended to not notice. I was not going to lose my concentration because of him. We both stood looking for good openings to fire when suddenly; Legolas hit the tentacle directly wrapped around the monster. Aragorn then cut the other tentacle holding Frodo. Boromir caught him from the air

"Into the mines!" Gandalf yelled to everyone. Legolas and I still stood firm to make sure the monster would not get to Aragorn or Boromir. Boromir then yelled for me to shoot the monsters eye. Both Legolas and I take aim and shoot the monster directly into its left eye. For a split second the monster screamed in pain but we only made it angrier. It continued to try and entangle us but it grabbed onto the door of the mines. The doors and stone could not hold the weight of the creature and began to crumble. I wanted to make sure Aragorn and Boromir made it in.

"Kaydriella, come into the mines. The doors are collapsing"

"One more second Legolas I can get it"

"Forgive me but I will not risk your life"

Legolas grabs my arm and pulls me into the mines. Dodging rocks and stone falling we all made it in safely. Besides some minor cuts and bruises we were all safe, for now. It was completely black. There was no light until Gandalf used a crystal on his staff to light the darkness we all stand in now.

"We now have but one choice. We must face the long dark of Moria. Be on your guard. There are older and fouler things than Orc's that dwell in the deep places of the world. Quietly now, it is a four day journey to the other side. Let us hope our presence goes unnoticed"

We all walk in silence. I walk behind Legolas and in front of Gimli. Besides the place being completely dark, the buildings underground are quite beautiful. The way everything was carved out almost as if the stone was telling the dwarfs what it wanted to be. We walked with very few breaks. With it being so dark, one could easily lose track of time. Some paths looked completely destroyed and ruined. There were a few times when I felt as if I might fall. How funny for me to fall to me death in a mine. Surly the humor is not great. We walk up to a hall which had three pathways. We all paused behind Gandalf who was the only one who knew his way through the mine.

"I have no memory of this place"

Oh dear. That cannot be good. Given that Gandalf does not know which way to pick, this is a perfect place to stop and take a rest.

"Aragorn?"

"What is it Kaydirella?"

"You have not spoken a word to me since-"

"-The avalanche. Yes I know"

"Well I just-"

"-No Kay, you did not even tell me, me who is just as close to you as Gandalf. How is it that he knows of your true nature and not I?"

"Aragorn I-"

"-You what? You thought that you could hide this forever? You thought that I did not need to know? You think by not telling me, I would be better off not knowing at all?"

"You could not possibly know the first thing about this, you know why? Because I don't know. I thought I knew okay. I thought I understood. That's why I left Rivendell with Gandalf. I left to train with Saruman. But he turned against us. He lied to Gandalf, he lied to me. I don't even know how to begin to explain what transpired in Isengaurd. I don't know if I want anyone to know"

"Kay-"

"I just couldn't tell you. I couldn't tell anyone. The only reason Gandlaf knew was so that he could help me control them. But guess what, what I once had, was stolen from me by my own mentor. Yeah, Saruman betrayed me and stole all my powers. Gandalf had to rescue my body from Saruman's dungeon and Lord Elrond had to bring me back to life."

"Kay-"

"-And the worst part is, I don't know what is going to happen to me. Nobody does. My powers were very ancient and we have no information on my kin. They seem to be returning but at a slow rate. I just have no idea and I never meant to hurt you or anyone for that matter. Okay?"
"I am sorry Kaydriella. I've been selfish and unfair to you. I was just hurt that I did not know. I had no idea. Please forgive my arrogance and stubbornness"

Aragorn offers his hand in his apology. And I hesitate. I can't help but hesitate because of how quickly he seemed to change moods towards me. I take it his hand because this man is like a brother to me and I could never ever not be able to forgive him. Our hand shake quickly turns into a hug, a hug and a smile. I sit with Aragorn and rest my head on his shoulder. I close my eyes and for the first time on this quest, I fall into a deep sleep. I never realized how exhausted I was.

LPOV:

She was asleep, with Aragorn. She had finally fallen asleep. She must be very tired from all her previous activities. I cannot believe I did not see this before. I knew there was something she was hiding but I never knew it would be to this magnitude. Powers? From where? I thought the only ones gifted powers were the five wizards of Middle Earth. Is she an exception? I cannot stop this feeling of fear for her when I see her. I am over flown with this feeling of fear when I look deep into her eyes. Gandalf must know. He protected her from ridicule on the mountain. Perhaps I should not pry. I heard everything when she was explaining it to Aragorn. I bet there is more to the story than just her explanation but pressing the matter seems to only upset her. I see Gimli sitting alone. He proably is still devastated from all this destruction. I should say something.

"Gimli"

"What do ye want elf?"

"I wish to extend my condolences to you. No one deserves a sadness this great. I am sorry for your loss. I am sure that we would have been greeted by the finest of your kin and fed with only the finest of food. I would not doubt the hospitality your kin would have provided"

"Yeah well they aren't here to give it, are they?"

"They would be honored to see you Gimli. I am sure of it"

"I still hold a hope that there may be dwarfish life yet within these mines"

"Than I shall hope with you"

"Why ye hope for my kin when we know there is a mutual dislike for one another. I do not dislike you Gimli, and as for your kin, there is nothing I hold against them. My conscious is clear."

"Hmmmm very well then"

I sit beside Gimli and wait for the wizard to remember.

BPOV:

The wizard seems to have lost his sense of direction. Better than going off an unknown path to our doom. I am still shocked by Kaydriella's secret but I really haven't had time to think upon it. Is she a witch? She couldn't be a witch, witches are evil and she does not have the malevolent spirit of a witch. Poor thing, she must be alone in this world for there are no adept female magic users other than the few women who dabble in the dark arts. Even then those women are completely mad and she seems as sound as ever.

"Merry! Pippin! Stop making so much noise. You will attract unwanted attention"

"But we are hungry and cold"

"Then eat a small thing and bundle up. The mines are no place to create havoc when none is called for"

"Look, Kaydriella has fallen asleep. She looks so comfortable"

"You know I haven't even noticed her since-"

"-the snow falling down on us and her using her cool powers and saving me?"

"Yeah"

"She is something wonderful"

"She is something that is for certain"

"Now Boromir, that's not very nice. She is still the same person we met at Rivendell. The same person we all have grown fond of. What recently occurred does not change her image in our minds. In fact it might have become even brighter than before"

They were right. I was being shallow. I bet she must think me a tool for being so blind. Why is it that the hobbits can talk me into reason, but I can't seem to do it myself.

"You know what Merry? You are absolute right"

I smile and move closer to them. They do seem a bit cold and let them lay on my cape for warmth. Who knows how long we will be here.

"You are surprisingly warm Boromir"

"Why is that such a shock to you Pippin?"

"I don't know"

He smirks at me and returns to the warmth of my cape. I know one thing for sure, I will never have my fill of these two hobbits.

Author Notes:

Let me know what you think and any ideas you have in the review section. Thank you all for sticking with my story. I don't own anything other than Kaydriella and her story. Please R&R!
