Sam's POV:
I made sure all of us were packed. We always seem to be the ones holding everyone else back so at least this time, we will be ready to go on time. I'm really glad Kay told us about herself; it made it easier for everyone else to open about themselves as well. I remember when she helped Mr. Frodo with his nightmares. Whatever she does, they immediately go away. I wish I could be as brave as her.
"Sam?"
"Yes Aragorn?"
"Are the hobbits ready to go"
"Yes sir, they have been packed since yesterday sir"
"No doubt in my mind that you did most of the packing"
"Well I don't mind, really"
"Well I wanted to tell you that when we leave the elves wish to aid us by giving us provisions to travel with. If you could make some room for these provisions then that would make you one step in front of everyone else"
"Yes sir, Aragorn, sir. If I may ask, when do you suppose we'll be leaving?"
"Early tomorrow morning, before the sun breaks"
"Alright, we'll be ready"
"Glad to hear it"
Aragorn walks away. It seems after Gandalf's death, he has become the leader of the fellowship. No doubt he has the credentials for it but no one can ever replace Gandalf. I walk over to our things and start rearranging them in order to make room for the hospitality of the elves. Merry and Pippin come over to offer help but their help wan't much of anything
"Come on, Sam! Enough moving things around. Let's go explore!"
"Pippin, this has to be done before tomorrow"
"Why? Whatever for?"
"I told you, Aragorn said that the elves were going to give us food to take with us. We all have to make room in our packs for it"
"Food ya say?"
"Yes food"
"Well why didn't you say that in the first place. Of course we'll help"
Merry and Pippin go straight to work. They unpack everything in their bags and repack it to make room. I don't do 's bag, he has enough to carry already.
"Alright Sam! We are all done. Now come, it is not everyday we get to see this place. Why not explore hmmmm?"
"I don't know Merry. What if we get lost"
"Nonsense, we will be fine. Plus I know for a fact that if we do get lost, these lovely elf friends of ours will come find us. In the meantime, lets go look around!"
"Alright but we go together. Where is ?"
"He was over by the pool last I saw"
"Let's get him before we day any exploring"
The three of us walk down to where Frodo stood in front of a small bowl of water. It seemed to have no water in it even though a reflection was produced.
" ?"
….. No response
" ?"
…..No response
This time I shake him
" !"
"Sam!"
"Phew. You gave me fright there . Are you alright?"
"I don't know Sam."
"What' happened?"
"I was shown something, something that does not rest easy with me. But then again, I am a ring bearer"
" you're scaring me. Tell me what's the matter?"
"It is nothing Sam. At least nothing you need to trouble yourself with. I see you have round up Merry in Pippin; what do you intend to do with them now?"
'Well we were just going to look around"
"EXPLORE! We are going to explore"
Merry shouted behind me the word he prefers
"We wanted you to come as well "
"You agreed to this?"
"Sort of."
"Well if you agree Sam, then I have to agree as well. Let's go explore"
We first started out by passing just a few rooms at a time. They looked like private quarters so we tried to hurry through. Merry and Pippin were searching for the dinning hall or some room that had food. We passed by a few soldiers that gave us quizzical looks but I wrecking thats because they don't see many folks like us. We keep walking until we pass a bigger platform with targets at one end.
Swoosh
Suddenly an arrow goes by, almost taking off Pippin's eat. We turn to see the shooter and its Kay
"Hello friends!"
"Kay!"
We all run over closer to her but Merry and Pippin, again, are the ones who pounce on her.
"What are you doing here?"
"What do you mean Merry? What does it look like I'm doing?"
"Oh yeah"
"How long have you been here?"
"Only a little while, Sam"
"How come you didn't bring us along"
"Well Pippin, I was just going to shoot arrows and you boys don't know how so you would just be sitting around watching me."
"Then can you teach us?"
"Merry, I don't think they have a proper bow your size."
"Where did you get this one Kay?"
"I found it over there. They have a few scrap bows, this one seemed to be alright"
"Come on, lets go find us a pair of bows"
Pippin insists on Kay teaching us how to shoot a bow. So we all go over to find bows, but Kay was right. All these bows are broken.
"Now who leaves a pile of broken bows sitting around like this?"
"Hang on a minute Sam. I think I can get you a bow"
"Really Kay?"
"Alright, all four of you stand in a line over here"
We do as Kay asks while she goes searching through the broken bows. She proceeds to match our height with a broken bow. She breaks them down so that we could use them and uses string from other bows to hold them together.
"This should do for now"
"Wow, My own personal bow"
"Are you going to teach us how to shoot now?"
"I can try Frodo. Now since there are only two targets, only two of you are going to shoot at a time"
"Oh I want to go first"
"Me too!"
No doubt Pippin and Merry are the most anxious to shoot.
"Now I just want to say that these are real arrows and if you shoot me, I will shoot you back. So let's begin"
Kay proceeds to show us the proper way to stand and pull back on the string. She would not let Merry and Pip near the arrows until they got their stances right. Finally when we got to shoot arrows, they were too big for us so she had to improvise. She helped us pull the big arrows back; primarily because we were not strong enough to pull all the way back on the strong. In the end, there are reasons why hobbits do not shoot arrows and that is because we are simply too small.
"My arm hurts Kay"
"Well Pippin, you arm just is not accustomed to this type of labor so it is going to hurt for a little while"
"Why didn't you tell me that before we began shooting?"
"Well it was you and Merry who wanted me to show you"
"Yes but I didn't know it was going to hurt"
"Oh stop complaining, you know you had fun"
"I had fun!"
"I'm glad you did Sam. And what about you Frodo? You've been quit mute this entire time"
"I enjoyed this Kay, really I did"
"Why don't you boys move along. I sense there is food on its way to the dining hall and you boys would not want to miss that"
"If only we knew which direction it is in"
"Perhaps I can help you"
Kay winks at us and picks up her bow. She grabs and arrow, turns around and pulls back on the string. We all stare in confusion because she isn't aiming at anything
"Mae govannen mellonamin" (Well met my friend)
Kay began to speak another language and out from the shadows and elf appears. Her arrow pointing straight at him.
"It is nice to see you again my lady"
The elf bows down to her and she withdraws her arrow.
"Haldir, My friends here are in quite a stir. Do you think you could point them int he direction of the dinning hall"
"It is that way. You are far from the dining hall so might I suggest a closer spot with food?"
"Oh absolutely sir"
Pippin was excited to hear that there was a closer spot that had food
"It is a small room just beyond that corridor. You'll have tog down some steps but just go straight and you shall see it"
"Wonderful! Thank you sir! Kay are you coming?"
"I think I'll sit this one our Merry. You guys go and have fun, but do not break anything. Understand?"
"I'll keep an eye on them"
"Thank you Sam. Frodo, you too. Make sure they stay out of trouble"
"I will Kay"
"The last thing we need is to be kicked out of Loth Lorien"
We walk the way the tall elf told us to go. No surprise we were there in less than twenty minutes. Pippin thought they trick us but I knew Kay would't do that to us. The food they had was different to the kind of food we eat. There was not a great variety of meat nor sweets. There was many fruits and vegetables so we stocked up on the fruit. No one was really eating the food. We were the only ones. Do elves not eat? Come t think of it, I don't think I've seen kay or Legolas eat. Oh my!
KPOV:
"It seems to me that you care deeply for those hobbits"
"That can be easily seen Haldir, without need of hiding behind trees or sneaking about"
"I admit it. You caught me"
"Did you really think you could teach them how to shoot?"
"Do not doubt them Haldir. They have much more to give than any of us could imagine"
"I am sorry. I did not come here to offend you"
"I know Haldir. Why did you come?"
"Well your fellowship is leaving tomorrow. I wanted to wish you safe travels. I never thought I would ever meet the daughter of Calemidaer. He saved my life and it pleases me I was able to repay that debt to you. You have his heart, no doubt"
"Your words are kind sir. I appreciate what you have done for my friends and I"
"Will you follow me, Kaydriella?"
"Follow you where?"
"The lady Galadriel has asked me to give you a few things. I doubt you will kill many orcs in the gown"
"I would have to agree with you. Gowns do not suit me"
"Oh no Kaydriella, they suit you very well. They just do not have the suppleness for fighting"
I blush at his compliment. I always hate it when people compliment me in dresses. We walk back to a private room. There was a bowl of water to clean with and on the bed there was new clothes for me to wear.
"We do not have many female fighters so her ladyship had these made just for you. After you were brought to the healing hall, she had these made. We just could not see you back in those ruined clothes you came in with"
The clothes were wonderful. They were beautiful. Also on a chest I saw my short swords looking sharper than ever.
"I understand that these were you father's so I had them sharpened. There is more"
He reaches over a chair and pulls out a bow. It is a beautiful bow. Just my size to.
"This one is from me. I saw you shooting and it would be an insult to your skill if you did not have a bow to match it"
"Haldir, I cannot possibly accept this"
"Yes you can. I understand that this quest may decide the fate of Middle Earth; well it is no secret that the elves are leaving these lands so we might as well leave behind something useful to those who wish to stay and protect it. Are you going to protect this land?"
"Yes"
"Then I see no reason for you not to accept my gesture of good will"
"How can I ever than you?"
"Stay alive. The world needs more people like you. Well I will leave you to change. When you are finished, your fellowship will be regrouping at the bottom of the stairs to you left. One last thing Kaydriella. Here is some dressing for your wound. I gave one of the hobbits extra bandages to put in their packs. I advise changing that bandage after a few days."
"Diola lle, Haldir" (Thank you)
"Tenna' ento lye omenta, Namaarie" (Until next we meet, farewell)
We bow to each other and he leaves. Lady Galadriel obviously knew what I was going to choose. She knew that I could never stand back and let others fight this battle without me. She and Haldir have been very kind to me. It is time.
I put the clothes on and to no surprise, they fit me perfectly. The vest fit perfectly. Maybe they took my old clothes to use them for a size model. That is what Arwen always did. My short swords are deadly sharp and the bow is absolutely fantastic. I step out of the room and I've never felt more prepared in my life. I walk down the steps and sure enough, the rest of the Fellowship were waiting.
"Hey look, the lassie has a new outfit"
Gimli was the first to notice me coming down the stairs. I walk by the hobbits and over to Boromir and Legolas. I notice Aragorn stands alone on the opposite side of the room.
"Hello Kaydriella"
"Legolas, Boromir. How long has he been standing over there?"
"Too long. We leave tomorrow morning and there has been no word from Aragorn on what our next move is"
"You can blame me for that. We did not end our last conversation too well."
"It will pass Kay. Don't worry. Why don't you help me get the hobbits ready to sleep"
"Boromir even though they are child size, they aren't children. They can sleep on their own, without need of story time"
"I see your point"
"Actually Boromir I have to speak with Sam so if you would like to come lang for that you may"
"Well you know me, I can never seem to turn you down"
I roll my eyes. In many ways Boromir is like a cild. I will always admire that about him. As the night went on I felt the need to sleep more ardently. I look around me and everyone but Legolas seems to have followed suit. There is no shame in taking a little rest. Yawn…
….
LPOV:
"Kaydriella? Kaydriella, it is time to wake up"
"Huh? Go ask Legolas, he always has an answer"
"Kaydriella, I am Legolas, now please"
"I didn't do it"
"Kaydriella, you must get up. We are going to be late"
"Here Legolas, I'll get her up"
"Boromir, I would advise against anything that might startle her"
"Nonsense. All she needs is a little shake"
Kaydriella fell asleep on her side and Boromir came up behind her. He placed his hands on her arm and back. I did not like this. He rolled her on her back; I really did not like this. He then proceeded to try and scare her awake. I told him, I warned him it was a bad idea. Kaydriella awoke and proceeded to punch him in the head.
"Boromir what the in the world were you thinking?"
"I was trying to wake you up. What in the world were you thinking?"
"You scared me! What did you expect?"
"I expected you to jump, not punch me in the face. Ow! How can you punch that hard?"
"Doesn't matter, I'm up now"
"I warned him Kaydriella"
"Yeah I bet you did Legolas"
"I did, honest. He just continued to do what he wanted to"
"Let's just get the others up"
Kaydriella and I go to wake up the hobbits while Boromir was still in pain from Kaydriella's punch. I cannot deny the little moment of laughter I let out when she punched him. It was almost like she knew what I wanted todo.
I followed Aragorn, who was being led to the river by Haldir. We were going to use the river as our next mode of transportation. When we arrive there, stacks of wrapped goods are waiting for us. Lady Galadriel rides in on another boat coming down by the river. We were asked to line up to which we received cloaks from the elves of Loth Lorien. Lord Celeborn was there to see that each one of us received a cloak with a leaf pendent acting as the hook. Lady Galadriel then gave us all gifts to take on our journey. She gave Frodo a kingly gift; an eleven star.
I help Aragorn and Boromir pack the provisions into the boats. The hobbits sit idle, picking which boat they will sail in. Haldir was also there to see us off but his gaze was mainly upon Kaydriella. I cannot help but feel he has feelings for her. I guess getting her affections will not be an easy task.
We set off using the river as our next source of transportation. Kaydriella and Gimli were in my boat. Kaydriella even offered to switch places with me if I got tiered. After riding down the river for nearly a day we make camp. Aragorn and Boromir took watch but Is stayed awake, just in next day we ride down past the Aragornath and camp for another night.
Saruman's POV:
Now is when i shall rise from the ashes and spread fear all through out the land. My name will strike fear into anyone who would oppose me. I have my Urk-hai army and I plan to use them for a very specific task.
After Kaydriella escaped, I sent Grima to Rohan. He will be my mole for another plan of mine. I have my Urk Leader round up all the Urk's for this mission. I must share a few words with him before departure from Isengard.
"Hear me now! There are five particular lives in which I have specific instruction for you. There are four Halflings; all of which I need brought back alive. One of them has something very precious to me. The fifth life is that of a elf girl. I've been told that she is with the same party so there would e no need to track her separately. She I would like back alive as well but if you cannot bring her back, kill her. Do you understand
the Urk nods with an added growl.
"Now go and do not fail me!"
I remember the last meeting with Sauron and he was not pleased that Kaydriella had survived
Flashback
"Your little apprentice survived. I was under the impression that you were going to end her."
"Oh Dark one, I apologize for my mistake. I had thought that I did kill her"
"Enough, no more excuses Saruman. Do you know how dangerous it is for her to exist right now?"
"My Lord, I thought her kind held no control over you"
"That is correct, when my ring of power is returned; She is the last of her kind which means she has enough power to challenge you and me. I trust you knew this prior to herescape. You fool, how could you let her escape?"
"Lord Sauron, I took her powers from her. I transferred them to myself. She is absolutely powerless. Her existence is no threat to yours any longer"
"I do not care. You can never fully strip away what she is. The only way to do that is to kill her. I want her dead, Saruman. I do not care if she no longer has powers, I want her dead. Fail me and you shall suffer"
The meeting ended. I took my hand of the seeing stone and tripped backwards.
"Master? Are you alright?"
"Yes, Grima. In fact I have a task for you"
"How can I be of service, Master Saruman?"
"Go to Rohan, become the Kings hand"
"But sir I"
"No need to worry. I shall place the king into a deep trance. A sickly state that will welcome you back with open arms"
"Yes my lord"
"Pack your things tonight. Tomorrow, take Kaydriella's horse and travel to Rohan"
"Sir, I could never take her-"
"YOU DARE DEFY ME? She is dead, Grima. Her horse would be to if I didn't have need of it. Now you can either take the horse or walk. Your choice does not matter to me"
Grima walks away and heads for the stables. Looks like he will be taking her horse after all. It is better he not know that she is alive, it would only distract him. Besides, he will never see her again for I must follow Sauron's wishes. I have to kill her. I thought that if I were to take away her abilities, his interest in her would go away. I guess he always planned for her to die. I guess if I were to look at the bright side, I am now the most powerful wizard on the earth. There is neither time nor room to regret the actions I have taken. No longer am I Saruman, the white but Saruman the dark. Death to those who defy me
