KPOV:

War has always been apart of this world. It seems no matter how many years go by, this will always be the ending result. As the fellowship mount their horses, I see the King at the head of the company with his niece. Aragorn is to my right with Gimli and Legolas on his right. As I ride my horse onwards, I cannot help but feel a bit ashamed. All these people are walking because they do not have horses. Passing by some people, I can see what they think. I can even hear some of their thoughts.

A hopeless battle…

We Wont survive this…

Maybe pity will be taken upon us…

They all were the same; a battle ahead but one that will ultimately be lost. As the party marches onward, I see the two children Gandalf and I saved. The little boy and girl who rode to Rohan. I take my horse closer to them and the young girl sees me first. She is gets scared because I'm so high up but I quickly dismount so that we are standing side by side.

"Do you remember me, little one?"

"Yes. You helped my brother when he was hurt"

"Yes, I did"

I see the maid Eyowen appointed guardian of these two children. She did not look pleased that I was talking to the little girl. However, I am not one so easily offended by a mean countenance.

"Tell me dear one, what is you name?"

"I am Freda, and my brother you saved is Eothain."

The boy does not even look my way. His gaze is fixed upon the road.

"Do you think we'll find our mama?"

"She is probably waiting for you at Helms Deep"

"Do you really think so?"

"I do"

Freda walks on with a slight smile on her face. The hope that her mother would be at Helms Deep brings her joy. Eothain still will not look at me. Maybe he's afraid of me; maybe he thinks I'm a witch. That assumption, however, isn't far from the truth.

We walk on until the evening. By then Freda became very familiar with me and insisted on holding my hand. She held it for most of the day. As the sun began to set, I had to leave Frida and go find Aragorn and the others. I told her how I would see her the next morning. I leave her in the hands of the maid that also seems not to like me too much. When I found Aragorn, he was talking to Eyowen. It looked like she was giving him some stew. Little did he know that Eyowen's cooking is absolutely dreadful. I could see his face when he went for a small sip of her soup. I couldn't help but let out a laugh.

"What is so funny? If I may be allowed to ask?"

"Oh, Legolas! I did not hear you come up"

"I apologize. I didn't mean to startle you"

"It's alright. I was just laughing at Aragon. He just got a good mouthful of Eyowen's cooking"

"Is it bad?"

"Horrible would be a better term. The poor girl can sew dresses and wield a sword but her cooking is pitiful"

"Tell me, I did not see you after we left Rohan. Where were you?"

"I went to go stand with Frida and Eothain; the little boy and girl Gandalf brought into the main hall."

"Are they well?"

"Quite well. The young boy does not speak to me or look at me. I cannot tell if his silence may be causing a side effect or just fear of me."

"It would be best to assume both. In his case anyways"

"I guess you're right. Tell me Legolas, you seem upset. Will you not tell me what is troubling you?"

"I feel sorrow for these people, that is all."

"Why do I get the feeling that's not everything"

"You are too perceptive Kaydriella"

I guess he does not wish to share more.

As the night falls I find myself drifting away to sleep. Legolas is beside me and Gimli is across. He already passed out from the hard day's walk. The night was graceful, not too cold or hot, with a beautiful sky full of stars.

"Kaydrialla? Wake up. It's time to go"

I recognized Legolas' voice. I open my eyes to see that I have fallen asleep, once more, on top of Legolas. I blush and quickly retreat off of him.

"I'm sorry. I did not mean to fall asleep on you."

"I do not mind. You keep me warm when you do"

He is flirting with me. How could he possibly think of flirting with me at this time of day?

"Come on ye two love birds. I don't have all day, now someone help me up on to that horse"

Gimli got a full view. How embarrassing. Aragorn was already packed and ready to go. He probably got very little sleep. Eyowen was standing right beside him when we departed. I have a feeling that she does not know about Arwen. I know his reasoning for leaving Arwen, but he wont be able to get over her; just like she will not be able to get over him. They are meant for one another. I know it.

We've been walking for about almost half the day. I found Freda and Eothain after a few hours of walking. I after another hour, I put them both on top of my horse. They looked like they were getting tiered from all the walking.

"Miss?"

"Yes Freda?"

"You have a nice horse. What is it's name?"

"Fae-Hun"

"Wow! That's pretty. Is it another language?"

"Yes it is. It's elvish Freda"

"And what does it mean?"

"It means spirit heart, literally"

"Why did you name it that?"

"Well, he has this pretty white coat which reminded me of a spirit and his heart is loyal to me so it only seemed fitting to call him that"

"Well I think he is pretty"

"Me too Freda."

Even though Eothain continues to ignore me, I know he is alright. For some strange reason, I think I would be able to tell if he wasn't. I see Legolas go up ahead, along with some riders to check the path. We haven't had much trouble on the way to Helms Deep. However, Saruman is a ruthless man who would attack and kill anyone. Suddenly, I hear a scream for the front of the company. No one else seems to hear it but my hearing is better than theirs. Is that a warg I hear? Then it is comfirmed by the next sight I see. Aragorn races back from atop the hill yelling.

"Wargs! We're under attack"

My suspicion is confirmed. The king called for all riders. I looked at Freda and Eothain; they were sitting atop my steed. I could see fear in both their eyes. I could not take the horse away from them, I just couldn't do it.

"You two take care of my horse, okay?"

They both nod. I hated to part from my horse again, but right now they needed him more than I. I quickly ran past the people now fleeing to the lower ground. I saw Eyowen and the king exchanging words. No doubt he needed her to lead the rest of the people to Helms Deep. I see the king turn his horse, rallying his men, about to charge the Wargs. I finally reach the top of the hill, and the fighting had already begun. Alas, my legs do not carry me as fast as a horse. I grab my bow and begin firing. I see Legolas on a horse but Gimli isn't on. He must have fallen off. I see Aragorn atop a horse as well. I continue to fire arrows until it becomes harder to aim. I drop the bow and unsheathe my shot swords. It is time to fight. I first charge a Warg with no rider. Easy kill; I make a swift move to the side and stab my sword into it's neck. Another WArg and his rider charge me and I dodge once more, this time I could only wound the Warg. I was able to cut one of its hind legs but not as deep as I wished. The Warg cried out in pain and I heard another Warg coming up from behind me. I could hear it was too close for me to move around but then I saw that Legolas sent and arrow straight through it. I focused back on my injured Warg and rider. The rider began throwing its knives at me. One was able to cut my lower side, but nothing lethal. All the others I dodged. The warg would not come ithin my radius now because it was afraid of me. I grabbed a knife from my side and threw it. It hit its mark, dead on. The rider fell to the side, I then ran up to the distracted Warg and finished it off. These riders and Wargs fought different. They had more skill and sharper blades. That is never a good thing. I saw a rohan guard knocked down about to be devoured by a Warg. I quickly take my other knife and throw it into the warg. The guard looks to me with a face of gratitude. Almost all of the Wargs are dead now but then I see Aragorn, riding to the edge of the cliff with one. He was struggling and I did not like how this was looking. The Warg was running without its rider I ran as fast as my legs would take me to reach him. I saw his hand was caught in the strap of the warg. I saw as the warg reached the edge and fell over taking Aragorn with him. I quickly dove for his free hand to grasp as I too went over the edge. I grabbed his free hand then grasped the edge of the cliff with my other. I got him. But then suddenly, a bug tug came and I realized, Aragorn was still attached to the Warg. My arm couldn't hold all of us and so my arm gave out and all three of us began falling. Right before we hit the water I make eye contact with Aragorn and say

"Amin hiraetha" (I'm sorry)

I grab his arm and using all my strength pull him up past me so I will hit the water before him. I close my eyes and embrace my death. I am not afraid of death.

LPOV:

As the Wargs begin to dwindle in number, I cannot seem to find Aragorn anywhere; nor Kaydreilla. I hope nothing has happened to them.

"Aragorn?! Kaydriella?"

Gimli begin searching for them too, but he does not see them either.

I walk to the edge of the cliff and hear an orc laughing wile his wound bleeds out. He seems way to pleased with himself for a dying orc. Gimli gets to him first.

"Tell me what happened and I will ease your passing"

The orc was clearly dying as he was coughing up blood but still seemed to laugh.

"He's. Dead. Hahahaha. He took a little tumble off the cliff and his pretty lady friend thought she could save him hahahaha weak stupid fool hahaha"

NO! That cannot be! I grasp this filth by his armor and will make him tell me the truth

"You lie"

"hahahahaha ahhhhhh"

The orc died right there. I refuse to believe what he said. I will not accept this. I look down in his hand to see the Evenstar pendent in his rotten hand. I take it so that he will not taint the jewel any further. I walk to the edge of the cliff and look down to see any sign of life. The king also looks but what we both see is heart breaking. The waters look rough and a fall from this height would most likely result in…death.

"Get the wounded on horses. Leave the dead"

I turn to say something in opposition but I know what I would say, wouldn't change his mind. The king walks away and I stand here looking down at the waters that have broken my heart. My dearest friends, now lie somewhere at the bottom of this chasm. I'm such a fool. Why must this life be so cruel to me. To take away from me a dear friend and the one I would dare call Mela en' coiamin (Love of my life), I am surly being punished by the Valar.

A single tear was shed for the elleth who had captured my heart. And another for the Mellon that I would give my life to. As Gimli and the others began the to head towards Helms Deep. I stayed but a moment longer; saying farewell to my heart.
