Chapter 4
I want to apologize for my rudeness for not posting this sooner. With college it's been very difficult to post any stories, but I will try my best to post whenever I am able. And I also want to thank you all for coming to view my story. I appreciate the continued support. Please continue to give me your insights on anything I should do. So without further interruptions, let's continue.
After the qualifier, the Hiashi twins asked to tweak Shun's deck a bit and he agreed as they took it to their home, which was a huge white mansion. Their parents worked as CEO's for their own company and they were renowned for supplying money for the Buddy Police and to their higher-ups in that apartment.
"Shun did pretty well, but without the use of his Gods Barrier card, he would have lost. We need to up his defenses more so he can have his double bonus ability when a god is fighting alongside another god." Shiro stated totally stumped.
"I wonder what card would be the best choice with a high defense and that can come back to protect Shun from damage…huh, I know…" Shiki said as she smiled as she flipped through her tablet to find the card she was looking for.
In Aibo Academy, Shun's group was on the roof along with Gao's and they seemed to have had the same idea of changing their decks.
"Hephaestus, God of Blacksmiths and Fire, huh?" Shun asked amused.
"Yeah Shun, with this card in your deck, by my readings, you will have a better chance to double your chances to team up with your other gods to a hundred and fifty percent. Hephaestus is able to be called to the field whenever your life points are four or below rather if it's in your deck or even in the discard zone and the best part is that his defense is ten thousand!" Shiki said with a smile.
Shun was a bit shocked to hear such a defense for one card.
"T-that's amazing Shiki. I will gladly use him."
"That's good since I've already set four of them in your deck; you're all set to go." Shiro replied as he handed Shun his deck.
"Thanks Shiro, with the new added god to my deck; we'll be an unstoppable team."
As the "Heroes of Olympus" continued their card construction, they overheard Gao's group and Gao was very upset on the fact he would have to sacrifice one of his dragons, which is against his code of honor and denies Baku's new deck as takes it and leaves to think things over himself. After that, things got a bit complicated as Gao's deck by the name of Jin Magastu. Jin asks to challenge Gao to a buddy fight with Gao's own deck and he accepts. During the battle, Gao leans that sacrificing knight dragons aren't always a bad thing and he eventually won.
Shun on the other hand was walking downtown, until a familiar face appeared before him.
"Hey, Kyoto!"
He turned to see Ryoma and what he chose to where today was black muscle suit, dark blue jeans with combat boots to match as he wore some fingerless gloves.
"Ryoma ,it good to see you. I'm hoping we can still be friends after that fight we had." Shun said as he held out his hand.
The teen just smirked. "You bet man. It's been awhile since I had a challenge like that. But next time, I'll win. You can count on that." He replied as he accepted his friendship.
"Hope I'm not interrupting something important." A creepy voice was heard, the two boys looking for the source.
Suddenly, from the alleyway appeared a teen boy now more than Shun and Ryoma's age, but two years older than them. His black hair complimented his grey eyes as smiled in an ever so creepy way as his head was placed with a black top hat. He wore a blood red dress shirt, a nice black vest, white fancy gloves with matching black pants and shoes. Under his left eye was a tattoo of a blood red cross that seemed to pop from his pale skin.
"Who the hell are you?" Ryoma demanded.
He held his hands out in defense. "Oh, do not fear. I'm not here to harm. Only here to test and you, my friend, are the lucky victim." The mysterious teen answered as he pointed to Shun.
Shun was a bit confused a little creeped out. "Wait, a test? A test of what?"
"Why, a test of strength, of course. Buddy Fight makes the whole world spin round. So kind sir, if you would, I'd like to challenge you."
"I g-guess it wouldn't hurt, but tell me one thing first; what's your name?" Shun asked.
Ryoma nodded in agreement, still wanting to know who this crazy kid was.
"I'm so happy you asked," He said as he raised his head down with his right arm crossed over his chest. "Gentleman, my name is Umehito Toshiaki and I'm going to turn your world, upside down!"
Umehito backed away as the alley he was concealed in was bigger than Shun and his new friend thought. Which was the perfect place for a battle, though damp and dark for Shun's taste, he could tell Umehito liked to play in such a place. Shun and Umehito took their positions as they were ready to Buddy Fight.
"Let the fun begin, where people slumber, the dreams of reality are unleashed, luminize." The well-dressed teen's core gadget appeared to be a black can with a purple jewel on the top as his glowing deck appeared above the gem.
"It's time to call upon the gods of the mythological world, luminize!" Shun called out, his book appeared on the field with his six cards.
"Now raise the flag," The two teen boys announced as the field glowed.
"I fight for Legend World," Shun replied as flag symbol of Legend World appeared as Zeus had his arms crossed as he levitated in the air.
"Magic World," Umehito chuckled manically as Magic World flag appeared as a man well-dressed in a black suit with a black trench coat and white gloves. His hair was black with dark green eyes as he also had a top hat placed on his head, smirking at his opponents.
(S: 10/ Gauge: 2)
(U: 10/ Gauge: 2)
"Since you challenged me, it's only right that you go first." Shun gestured to teen.
"I thank you, kind sir. Charge. Charge and draw. Riddle me this Shun, "Why is a raven like a writing-desk?" Do you have an answer for me?" Umehito asked, curious of what his answer might be.
(S: 10/ Gauge: 2)
(U: 10/ Gauge: 3)
Shun seemed to think on this before giving him his answer. "Actually, I'm not quite sure."
The Magic World user just smirked at him as he chuckled a bit. "I haven't the slightest idea either! I call to the center my buddy, Julian, the Hatter."
His buddy complied as he jumped and landed on the middle platform.
"This should entertain me for a while." The Hatter replied with a crept up smile.
"He has his buddy monster in the center, what are you planning Umehito." Shun thought as the Magic user continued his turn.
"I use Julian's ability, I can draw three cards in my deck and I'm allowed to choose one out of the three and the ones I don't want I can put back in my deck." The Hatter's gloved hand began to glow.
Three cards from Umehito's deck levitated in front of his face as he scanned the three cards. He then chose the one on the left and the two remaining cards were shuffled back into his deck.
"The best part about Julian's ability, I can use it once per turn," He smiled as Shun was a bit taken back at this. "Now I cast, The Hatter's Tea Party. With this spell, since I have a Hatter in the center, I'm allowed to invite his two friends to join the fun. From my deck, Inaba, the March Hare, to the right, and the Tio, the Dormouse to the left, though, I have to sacrifice two gauges in order to do so."
The spell took effect as the Hatter clapped his hands twice as the right and left platforms had two rabbit holes appear and out came two figures. The one on the right was an actual hair with grey messy fur, golden keen eyes and was wearing a nice purple waist coat with a black vest as he smiled with uncontrollable measure. His height was to the Hatter's chest and he held in his paw a class tea cup. On the left was a mouse wearing bronze armor holding a round shield and a short sword. His fur was a brilliant white and eyes were black, but full of mischievous wonder. His height was in to the Hares chest.

"Ah, Inaba, Tio, I'm glad you could join the tea party." Julian said as he greeted his two companions.
"We wouldn't have missed it." Inaba replied.
"Indeed, now let's show this guy how we party." Tio agreed as he readied his sword.
"I'd hope you'd say that, my good sir. Now Julian, if you and your party guests will do the honors, give our honored guest a Hatters welcome. Attack the fighter." He ordered.
Julian smiled as he held out a few plain cards between his hands. He made his way to the center platform his companions close behind. "This should be amusing. Shuffle Shot!" He threw three cards like ninja stars that glowed red as they headed toward Shun.
Shun could only gasp as he was hit in the arm, chest and leg.

"It's our turn Inaba! Splendid Slash!" Tio said with delight as he made his way toward the mythological user with quick speed, his sword ready to strike.
"I just love a good mess! Tea Cup Mayhem!" Inaba replied as he just threw his tea cup that started to steam hot red heading toward his opponent.
"Oh crap!" Shun managed to say before being slashed by the mouse and hot tea exploding in his face as he started to falter a bit.

"Charge. Charge and draw. That was an impressive feat you just pulled, but I'm not going down that easily."
"I wouldn't expect nothing less from you, Mr. Kyoto." Umehito smiled.
"First I cast, Medusa's Wrath! With this spell, by paying two of my gauges, I can banish your whole party." Shun explained.
Umehito's smile never faltered as Medusa's head appeared on the field, eyes closed.
"That's no good. Just when I was enjoying this party, such a shame." Julian replied a bit disappointed.
Suddenly, the snake women's eyes opened and a blinding green light emitting from them as the three party guests were turned to solid stone. Few minutes and they crumbled to dust, disappearing from the field. Julian reappeared behind Umehito again as the Hatter had his arms crossed with a bored look on his face.
(S: 5/ Gauge: 1)
(U: 10/ Gauge: 1)
"An impressive move, Mr. Kyoto, very impressive indeed."
"Thank you, but I'm not through yet. I call Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth, to the left." Shun announced as a radiant young woman with long curly brown hair and glowing orange eyes appeared as she wore a violet dress-like robe, a hood was over her head, but her warmth could be felt on the field.
"Shun, you know I'm not a fighter right? I only tend to the hearth." She replied, a bit crossed with the black haired boy.
"S-Sorry Lady Hestia, but I need you right now for this to work."
She looked at Shun for a few moments before she sighed. "Very well Shun, please continue."
Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth- S: 1 P: 1000 C: 1 D: 2000
"I appreciate your cooperation Lady Hestia. I cast The Hearth calls Thee, with this card, since Hestia is on the field, I'm allowed to summon one god from my hand to the center no matter what rank it is without the use of using gauges and what better god to cause destruction than the war god himself. I call Mars, God of War!"
In the center field, from the sky began to turn red as a sudden being of power descended from the sky as he crashed landed in the center field, his fist on the ground as he looked up with a menacing smile. He had short black hair and blood red eyes. He was wearing red roman armor to his shoulders down to his legs. He was fit and ready for battle as he held a red gladius in his right hand and a menacing monster design shield in the other.
"Finally had the balls to call me kid?" Mars looked pissed, but kept his composure.
"My apologies, Lord Mars. I just had to find the right time to summon you."
The god of war just smirked. "Well, better late than never," He said as he raised his sword on his shoulder. "Let's wreck some heads!"
"Before that, Lady Hestia, my promise for you not to fight shall be fulfilled. I cast another spell, Divine Intervention!" Under Hestia's feet, the floor started to glow a brilliant gold. "With this spell, I'm allowed to switch any god I choose from my field, back into the deck and call forth another god, but it must be the same level as the monster sent to the deck and of course, I choose the most obvious for Lord Mars, Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love!"
Hestia vanished in the light before another woman took her place. She wore a white Greek robed dress, a golden circuit placed on her head and wore silver high heels. She had long flowing orange hair and her eyes seemed to change colors. She held in her hand a golden staff as doves hovered over her head.
"Mars! It's good to see you sweetie!" She kissed him on the cheek and looked back to Shun, forming a warm smile on her face. "Ah, Shun Kyoto, it's been some time since you've called me. How is your love life Shun? Have you found anyone yet?"
This made Shun blush ever so much. "L-Lady Aphrodite, please…not right now."
She giggled at this. "Oh, I see. Perhaps I'll ask you another time, but for now," She looked at her opponent, with a smirk on her face. "I'm ready to go, are you, my love?"
Mars laughed. "I'm always ready, sweetheart!" Winking at the love goddess.
"I'm not done. I'll also equip Poseidon's Trident," In Shun's right hand, a stream of water formed a beautiful gold trident. The three pointed tips of the trident glowed with a brilliant blue aura. He jumped in the right space on his field as he held the trident in an offensive position. "With the power of Poseidon's Trident, I'm allowed to pick up another card in my deck whenever your turn ends for each of your turns."
Umehito just had this creepy smile of satisfaction. "So, you're going with the triple fencer remover? Give me all you've got!"
"I plan to, but first, I must explain something to you. For each god or monster in this particular deck, they gain a special ability, depending on which god or monster is on the field or not at all. Whenever Mars and Aphrodite take the field, my goddess shares a bond with him and once per turn, she can't be destroyed and Mar's power rises equal to Aphrodite's power." Shun explained as Aphrodite blew a kiss in Mar's direction as a faint pink stream appeared between them and the war god's red aura grew.

"Time for the battle to begin. Mars and Aphrodite, attack the fighter," Shun commanded as the two immortals jumped in the middle platform, beginning their advance.
"Let's give it to him, Warriors Thrust," Mars held his sword out as it burst into flames, running toward his attended target.
"Yes, let's. Raging Doves!" She conjured a few dozen doves to her side as she directed them straight at Umehito.

As Shun's opponent seemed to wipe his face with a white cloth, putting it back inside his black vest, he chuckled. "You sir, are full of surprises," He drew his card. Shun did the same since his Trident's ability allowed it. "Charge, charge and draw. Now the tables will turn. I cast Wonderland," Suddenly, the alleyway started to morph and the brick turned into grass and the darkness turned into a musty forest, but there were sudden trails and different signs pointing to different directions people would end up lost.
"Where are we?"
Shun looked around, confused on what just happened.
"Wonderland, you must have heard of it," Umehito smiled as his buddy leaned by a nearby tree, crossing his arms. "It's a world of dreams, but as real as anything you could possibly imagine. When this special spell is active, all buddy cards that are in my drop zone or are destroyed in battle, increase my Gauge instead."
Shun paled at this as three palls of light formed three more light cards above Umehito's head.
(S: 5/ Gauge: 1)
(U: 4/ Gauge: 5)
"I'll use three of my Gauges to call The Queen of Hearts, Vivian, to the left," Three of his gauges disappeared as a young woman with long vibrant purple hair, that was curled, with violent eyes seemed to glare at Shun. She wore an elegant red and black dress that was fit her slim body that draped all the way to her red high heels. On top of her head she wore a small golden crown with a red heart jewel in the center as she held in her hand a golden scepter with a red heart-shape gem at the end of it.

The Queen of Hearts, Vivian- S: 3 P: 5000 C: 2 D: 6000
"I'll also use the spell, The Queen's Champion! Since I have Vivian on the field, by discarding a card from my hand in the drop zone and all my gauges, I can summon her faithful servant," Suddenly, the atmosphere seemed to change as the area became ever so dark by the minute. "Now arise and rain death and destruction all in the name of the Red Queen! Gorgath, the Jabberwocky, to the center!"
The darkness suddenly formed a vortex of some sort as a huge jet black wings erupted from within. The wings started to flap as the dark vortex subsided as a huge jet black dragon appeared before Shun and his immortal beings, towering over them. The darkness seemed to attach to its dark scales as it stared down with such malice in its blood red eyes as it laughed with satisfaction. Shun could feel a sense of fear overwhelm him.
Hahaha, I can sense the fear within you, boy. It spoke, in a deep dark voice. You may not be the fated one that I'm supposed to destroy, Gorgath just smirked. But I'll make an exception.
(S: 5/ Gauge: 1)
(U: 4/ Gauge: 0)
Gorgath, the Jabberwocky- S: 4 P: 10,000 C: 4 D: 9000
"A S-Size 4 monster," Shun shuttered. "But how?"
"The Jabberwocky is the most feared beast in all of Wonderland," Umehito explained with an ever so creepy smile. "And I can't wait to use his special ability. You see, when Gorgath is successful summoned by "The Queen's Champion" spell card, all monsters on your field are destroyed."
Shun was speechless. He didn't know what to do at this point.
Yes, cower in fear human, Gorgath bellowed as it raised his head, preparing to strike. Now face my wrath, Lightning Devastation!
Gorgath mouth flew right open as a streams of electricity headed towards Mars. The god of war held up his shield, in hopes of defending himself, but it was futile as his defense shattered as he was desiderated on the spot. Aphrodite just stood there, knowing it was hopeless to do anything as the stream of lightning headed towards her as well, also reduced to nothingness.
"This does not bold well for us," Zeus finally spoke.
"Yeah, that's true," Shun agreed.
"Since you don't have anything to defend yourself, I think it's time we end this. My Queen, if you would? Would you attack the fighter?" Umehito bowed to the queen as she smiled a bit.
"But of course," She made her way to the middle as she raised her scepter. "I was beginning to feel bored, Knights, Spear Strike!" Suddenly, two red-armored card knights, one was an Ace and the other a Spade with glowing yellow eyes, appeared in thin air, though, they appeared like faded ghosts, obeyed her command as they pierced Shun in the chest.
(S: 3/ Gauge: 2)
(U: 4/ Gauge: 0)
"Your turn, Gorgath."
With pleasure. Let the darkness consume you, Dark Consumption!
Gorgath raised his wings and started to flap them as darkness was detaching itself from its scales and heading towards Shun.
As quick as a flash, before Shun could be hit by the blast, a bulk man with dark skin and brown eyes appeared in the center of Shun's field. The man raised a huge golden hammer as he held it in front of his face as a blaze of fire engulfed him as the dragons attack collided with the barrier. After a few seconds, the darkness subsided and the man was still there. His head was bald for the most part, but made up for it with his orange beard as he smirked at the huge dragon before him. He wore iron clad chest plate armor, though his right arm was muscle flesh, the left arm was mechanical. He also wore armor greaves and he seemed to produce smoke from his golden hammer.
"An unexpected twist has just developed, pray tell, good sir," Umehito asked intrigued. "What is the meaning of this?"
Shun was the one smiling now. "Since my life points are 4 or below, Hephaestus, God of Blacksmiths and Fire, is allowed to show up from my deck or hand when my life points are at this point and as you can see, he's no pushover."
Hephaestus, God of Blacksmiths and Fire- S: 2 P: 1000 C: 1 D: 10,000
"I see, a very useful ally you have," He then chuckled to himself as he grinned again. "But even your new friend won't save you from the Jabberwocky. You're fate has been sealed."
At this point, Umehito's turn was over and it was Shun's turn.
"Charge, charge and draw," The Legend user swiped a new card in his deck and put another one where his gauges were. "Then I'll change fate."
(S: 3/ Gauge: 3)
(U: 4/ Gauge: 0)
"You may have the advantage, but I'll change that. Starting now," Shun felt determined as he smiled. "I cast Pandora's Box! With this special card, by the number of cards I discard from my hand to the drop zone, I can destroy that number of monsters on your field."
Shun discarded two of his cards as a Greek pithos appeared floating in mid-air. Suddenly, the jar top opened as it seemed to suck in the air like a vacuum, directing the air toward the enemy field.
To be destroyed by a measly artifact, how humiliating. The dragon grumbled as it was sucked in within the jar.
"Off with your head!" The queen screamed as she too shared the same fate as her champion.
As the last remaining foe was vanquished, the pithos disappeared from the battlefield, the darkness fading away.
Umehito just smiled at his opponent. "I applaud you, Shun Kyoto, but you've activated my Jabberwocky's ability," Again, the darkness seemed to return. "When it's destroyed by battle or an effect from a spell card, all monsters on your side of the field are destroyed."
"Shit…" Hephaestus cursed as a huge dark bolt of lightning struck the immortal, leaving nothing but a cindered bruise on the field he was standing.
"Don't forget, my gauges fill when my friends are destroyed or sent to the drop zone." The older boy reminded Shun as gauges were added.
(S: 3/ Gauge: 3)
(U: 4/ Gauge: 2)
"Sorry to disappoint you Umehito, but you won't be using those gauges anytime soon, I'm going to win this buddy fight, here and now," Shun told him, with a determined smile on his face. "By paying three of my gauges, I call Hades, Lord of the Dead, to the center!"
The ground in the center of Shun's field started to darken as a fissure opened to reveal skeleton arms pulling apart the earth. Dark gas spewed from the fissure as some sort of being started to come out of it. The darkened figure was dressed in pitch black robes, obsidian armor covered most of the figures body from the waist up. You could not see his face, but he wore a helm that was decorated with small skeleton skulls as you could on see only glowing yellow eyes. He held in his hand a staff made out of human bone as the fissure closed beneath him as he floated in mid-air, the shadows seem to spiral around him.
Hades, Lord of the Dead- S: 3 P: 7000 C: 3 D: 7000
"An impressive feat to defeat the Jabberwocky, young one," Hades commented in a darkened tone in his voice.
"I am honored by your words, Lord Hades."
The Lord of the Dead glanced at Zeus and even though you couldn't see, Hades smirked at his brother.
"Well, little brother, it would appear that I'll help deliver the final blow."
Zeus could only sigh under his breath.
Umehito just laughed a bit. "Your god may have the power, but not enough to finish me off."
"Don't underestimate my abilities, Umehito," Shun replied, "When I said I'd change my fate, I meant it. But first, Hades, attack the fighter."
"I've been waiting for this," The dead god said, as he suddenly vanished in a puff of smoke, appeared towering over the older teen. "You thought the Jabberwocky was feared in Wonderland? The Underworld is much worse mortal…see the true face of death." Hades grabbed his hood as he removed it entirely to reveal something truly disturbing. What replaced his face was thousands of screaming souls, wailing in pain as Hades screeched like a banshee.
Umehito jumped in surprised and at the same time, he could feel the fear overwhelm him as his life points decreased.
(S: 3/ Gauge: 0)
(U: 1/ Gauge: 2)
"Here, I go," Shun formed a smile on his face as he picked out his winning card in his hand. "Final Phase,"
Suddenly, the surrounding area began to change as the terrain began to shift to the sea. "May Poseidon have mercy on you, Trident Slash!"
Impact Card: Trident Slash- Use when only if player has 3 life points or less. Ignore spells that disable this impact card and deal 3 points of damage to opponent.
From the sea, emerged a man with a grey beard and sea green eyes. He wore sea green Atlantian armor from head to toe as he was floating on a stream of water. Placed in his right hand was a three pronged trident, similar to the one Shun had.
"Show off," Zeus grumbled.
"For once, I agree with you." Hades nodded.
Poseidon took a glance at his brothers, smirking to himself as he made his way with quick succession as he raised his trident and with quick speed, slashed Umehito across his chest, as the weapon turned a brilliant blue glow.
Umehito gasped as he fell to his knees, knowing full well that he had lost.
(S: 3/ Gauge: 0)
(U: 0/ Gauge: 2)
"Game over. Winner, Shun Kyoto!"
"The fates were in favor of me today." Shun said as the field disappeared as they were back in the dark alleyway Umehito took them.
The Magic user was still on his knees, still a bit surprised that he lost.
Shun walked over to him, Ryoma followed close behind, as the young Legend user held out his hand.
"So, did I pass your test?" Shun asked.
Umehito looked up at Shun, a crooked smile crossed his face as he accepted the hand as he pulled himself up. "With flying colors. When my good friend, Jin, asked me to test you. As like Alice stumbling into Wonderland, I was curious. Not only for my dear friends request, but also the soul fact of what I thought of you. A mysterious boy with an Ultra rare buddy monster, Zeus and on top of that defeating Rouga, I just had to see what kind of strength you possessed and now that I've experienced it firsthand, I'm certain."
The two young boys were confused at this. "About what?" Ryoma spoke up.
"That he'll make a fine buddy fighter and I'll be keeping a close eye on him from now on as a fellow companion." Umehito said, as he turned to walk away.
"Wait," Shun called out as Umehito stood still. "What are you saying? Who is Jin and what did you mean by 'watch over'?"
Shun couldn't see, but Umehito just smirked. "Now where's the fun in that? Mr. Kyoto, Mr. Nagoshi, I bid you a farewell until we meet again."
That was the only reply they received as he disappeared from view as he walked deeper into the dark alley.
"H-Hey wait!" Ryoma yelled as he ran after him only to be stopped by the end to the alley. "What the…how the hell did he do that?'
Shun was equally as surprised. There was just so many un-answered questions he wanted to know, but he figured he'd find his answers some other day and judging from what Umehito told them, it would be soon.
"Come on Ryoma, if you want, let's get something to eat." Shun suggested.
His eyes lit up with excitement. "If we're eating, you're buying and I have the perfect place to chow down."
The Dragon World user ran out of the alley way, Shun trying to keep up with him, not really thrilled to buy for his 'new' friend, but he was happy at the same time as chased after him.
Not noticed, Umehito was on the roof tops, his buddy, Julian besides him. "For an elementary student, that boy isn't bad in a card fight, what do you think, Umehito?"
"He completely caught me off guard with that second impact card. For all we know, he more than two impact cards, which is a rare thing indeed. He's just full of surprises. I can't wait to see what he accomplishes next." The magic user replied, his buddy chuckled a bit as Julian threw a card at a side of another building, making a dark portal as the two hatters simply jumped into it.
