Muse Academy

Before you read the story there needs to be a few things cleared up since the last Muse Academy story, since then the Muses have undergone some changes to their characters and backstory; in this story I'll pretend that all I've written before doesn't exist and explain as I go along, but I'll give a few examples here now just in case I miss them out for some reason. The Muses no longer have the purposes they had in the last story and are just powerful beings, Muse Academy was started before the current Muses became Muses and they have just inherited charge of it, Muse Academy was originally started by the Muses to teach those with unique and powerful magic when other schools couldn't teach them but have recently started taking normally powered students because other schools refuse them entry because of segregation, etc.

Another life in another school

Summary: Sirius Black has a secret, he is a student of the legendary Muse Academy while also being a student of Hogwarts by using time travel, he is a secret student of the Academy because he has a power within him that no one knows of that he must control and only the Academy can help him.

In the Gryffindor tower at Hogwarts four boys were settling into bed after their first week back at school.

"Did you see the look on that Slytherin's face?" James laughed, referencing a prank they had pulled only an hour previous.

"I liked his girlfriend's reaction a lot better." Sirius said.

"We're just lucky we didn't get caught." Remus said.

"Says the one who planned the entire thing out." Peter responded, reminding the werewolf that he wasn't as good as the teachers believed him to be.

"There's a difference to planning something out and carry it out. Anyway, I'm going to get some sleep, it's full moon in a few days."

Remus turned off his bedside light and pulled the curtains around his bed closed before snuggling into bed and falling asleep. The other boys soon followed suit.

Just before midnight Sirius opened his eyes and slowly sat up in bed, he wiped away the sleep that had gathered in the couple hours of sleep he had gotten before slowly and quietly getting out of bed, he quietly snuck into the bathroom and got changed into some muggle clothes consisting of a red top, jeans, black trainers and a gray jacket, he then picked up a pre-prepared bag and his wand before quietly sneaking out of the door.

Once Sirius was in the common room he checked that no one was up late before making his way over to the door, he snuck past the sleeping painted lady and quietly and carefully made his way through the castle until he made it outside using a secret exit only he knew about. Sirius didn't have to worry about being quiet now that he was outside so he quickly ran away from the castle until he finally made it outside of the wards that surrounded the school, he then took out a gemstone from his pocket and said the activation word and the portkey whisked him away.

Sirius arrived inside a stone room with a single booth built into the wall, manning the booth was a man wearing a brown hooded robe. Sirius went over to the man and pulled out an ID card with his picture on it and handed it to the man, the man looked over the card and then waved a glowing hand over it before he seemed satisfied and handed it back.

"What time travel plan are you on?" the man asked.

"The weekly one." Sirius answered.

The man nodded before turning and doing something Sirius couldn't see, he then turned back around and handed Sirius a small stone slab with symbols painted on it. The man then pushed a button and a door magically appeared not far from the booth.

"Proceed." The man told him.

Sirius nodded and walked through the door, it disappeared once he was through.

The new room was huge and made of stone with symbols and gems covering them, at the center was a large gyroscope big enough for a person to fit in comfortably, there was another hooded man stood at a control panel. Sirius went over to the man and handed him the stone slab before going up some steps and to the center of the gyroscope, the man inserted the slab into the control panel and pressed some buttons causing the gyroscope to start up, it started slowly before speeding up and Sirius lifted off the ground before there was a flash of light, he was then lowered to the ground and the gyroscope came to a stop.

The room was the same as before only it was a woman manning the controls rather than a man.

"Welcome to the past." The woman told Sirius as he stepped out of the gyroscope.

"Thanks." Sirius grinned.

Sirius exited out of the only door and found himself at a train station on a platform with no number, once again the door disappearing behind him. The platform was different to 9 3/4 but still had many families and children milling about it, next to the platform a large black steam engine waited as children moved into the carriages, Sirius didn't have anyone to say goodbye to so he went straight into one of the carriages. The carriages were different to that of the Hogwarts Express as the carriages consisted of row of seats either side of an aisle rather than separate compartments, one halve of the seats facing opposite the others seats with tables in between them. Sirius sat on one of the seats after pushing his bag onto the overhanging rack.

After a few minutes a girl who looked just younger than Sirius sat in the seat opposite him.

"Just to be sure, but this is the train to Muse Academy, right?" she said in a shy voice.

"Yeah." Sirius said with a nod.

The girl had dark skin and black hair that was in an afro and gray eyes, she wore a purple hoodie and crop jeans.

"Sirius Black." Sirius stuck out his hand.

"Tara Jackson." The girl shook his hand.

"I'm guessing this is your first day at the Academy."

"Yeah. I'm going now because of...recent developments in my life."

"Just came into your powers did you? Same for me a few years back."

"What are your powers?"

Sirius held up his hands close to each other and concentrated, in between his hands a ball of darkness formed before dissipating.

"I can control darkness basically, shadowmancer is one of the terms for it. So, why are you coming to the Academy?" Sirius asked.

"I'm half vampire." Tara answered off-handedly.

"A dhampyr, cool."

Internally Sirius felt sorry for Tara because he knew the way almost all dhampyrs came into existence, a full blood vampire biting the mother while pregnant with the child, unfortunately the mother never survived the birth.

"Attention passengers, the train is now leaving the station." The voice of the conductor came over the speakers.

The train then left the station with many of the children waving out of the window to say goodbye to their parents. Sirius and Tara stayed seated.

Unlike the Hogwarts Express that only had two stops, one at platform 9 3/4 and at Hogsmead, where all students got on the train at once, the train to Muse Academy made several stops along the way for students to get on. But it was at one particular stop when Tara looked out of the window and realized something.

"Woah. Are we in Japan?" she asked after looking at the Japanese writing decoration the current station and Asian-looking children boarding the train.

"I was weirded out too." Sirius said with a small laugh. "Turns out this train is able to do a sort of teleportation without anyone realizing, it can travel many miles in no time at all and stops off in quite a lot of countries to pick up all of the students before nightfall. Don't bother asking anyone how it works, nobody knows."

Sirius let out a yawn, reminding him how little sleep he had gotten. Luckily, once they reached the Academy he could go straight to his dorm room to get some sleep.

One of the new arrivals on the train dropped herself onto the seat next to Sirius.

"Hey, onii-san." She said, flinging an arm around Sirius' shoulders.

"Hey, Ailith." Sirius said back with a grin.

Ailith was the same age as Sirius with white hair that went down past her waist and red eyes, she wore a white long-sleeved top, black skinny jeans, red converses, a red short sleeved jacket and a black beanie.

"Tara, this is Ailith. Ailith, this is Tara." Sirius introduced the two girls.

"Konichiwa." Ailith waved.

"Ailith here is my sister in everything but blood." Sirius explained to Tara.

"We share everything, general tastes, birthdays, friends. And our powers are a reflection of each other." Ailith continued.

"She has the ability to control light, opposite to my powers of darkness."

"On top of being a crystal mage."

Tara couldn't help but smile at their antics, if it weren't for how different they looked she would have thought they were siblings without being told.

A few more stops passed and Sirius, Tara and Ailith got to know each other more and more until they came to a stop in New Zeeland and another boy just older than Sirius and Ailith took the final seat around the table next to Tara.

"Hi, Darren Saxton." He introduced himself, his accent highly prominent.

Darren had scruffy red hair and blue eyes, he wore a gray t-shirt, khaki shorts and trainers.

"Tara."

"Sirius."

"Ailith."

"Why are you coming to the Academy then?" Sirius asked.

"For reasons too large to show off the train." Darren told them. "Quite literally. If I tried to show of my wings there'd be feathers everywhere."

"Feathers? Are you an avian?" Ailith asked, remembering the other students at the Academy that had wings.

"I've been told that I'm an angel."

The others looked at him in shock.

"No way." Sirius said. "I heard that most all angels have disappeared."

"I was told that too." Darren said. "But the woman who helped explain everything and gave me the invitation told me that angels are more buried than extinct."

"I suppose that makes sense. Besides, we're not ones to speak regarding our special talents." Ailith said.

"What?" Darren asked.

Sirius, Ailith and Tara then explained their reasons to going to Muse Academy.

"Cool." Darren commented.

The conductors voice then came through the speakers. "Attention, passengers, the train will soon be sky bound. Please be seated and strapped in within the next minute. Thank you."

"Sky bound, what does that mean?" Tara asked.

Sirius and Ailith grinned. "You'll find out soon." They said.

Each seat had belts that crisscrossed over a person's chest, everyone on the train quickly fastened them. Tara and Darren looked at the other passengers in the carriage, some looked calm with a knowing look in their eye like Sirius and Ailith, some looked confused like them, and some looked slightly frightened. Then the tables between the seats sank into the floor and the seats facing the back of the train swung around to face the front.

Tara, who was closest to the window managed to see out to where the train was heading and gasped in horror.

"We're heading for a cliff!" she cried out.

Indeed, the train was heading towards a cliff, the tracks just dropping off the end.

The reactions on the train were mixed, most of those who had been calm were grinning at Tara's outburst and the reactions she got, those who had been confused were freaking out while those who had looked freighted were groaning or had their head in their hands. The belts held everyone in their seats with many of the passengers gripping them tightly.

"Attention, passengers, we will be air born in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, take off."

The carriage was filled with screams as the train went over the cliff.

And then took off into their air on invisible tracks rather than falling to the ground.

After a bit more screaming the passengers who were screaming realized that they had not crashed into the ground but were flying through their air.

Sirius let out a bark of laughter and was soon followed by other passengers who had been on the train before.

"That nearly killed me the rest of the way!" Tara exclaimed.

"Gomen." Ailith apologized. "It's sort of a tradition to not tell new students about the train flying to the Academy after picking up all of the students."

"Though, what did you expect? Muse Academy is on a floating island in the sky. How'd you think we'd reach it?" Sirius said with a chuckle.

"If it makes you feel any better, Sirius screamed like a girl his first time around."

"Hey, says the girl who had me in a death grip and wouldn't let go until we got to the Academy."

Now that the train had taken off the seats and tables were returned to their previous positions and the passengers were free to move around again. The train traveled through the air until it started to get dark when the conductor's voice came through the speakers again.

"Attention, passengers, if you look out the left side window you should be seeing Olympus and Muse Academy coming up."

"Olympus?" Darren asked.

"It's the name of the island the Academy is on." Ailith answered.

Most of the passengers moved to the left of the plane to look out the windows, Sirius and the others not having to move since they were already on the left side, Olympus was a sight to behold, the floating island was huge with a large forest and beautiful sights, and at the center of it all was a pristine building that was Muse Academy. Many gaped in awe, even those who had seen the sight before found themselves still entranced by the sight.

But too soon everyone was ordered back to their seats and were strapped in as the train descended to the island, with a slight bump the train connected with tracks again as it rolled into the Olympus train station. Students flooded out of the carriages and onto the large platform, there were members of staff there to greet them shouting out instructions through devices that translated their words into the main language of those who could hear them meaning there wasn't any language barrier.

"Previously enrolled students, please continue to your dorms!" shouted a lady with silver hair in pigtails and golden eyes.

"New students please come this way!" shouted a lady with hot-pink hair that was in curls and also had gold eyes.

"Guess this is where we bid adieu." Sirius said to Tara and Darren.

"Hope to see you tomorrow then." Tara said as they waved goodbye and went their separate ways.

Sirius and Ailith followed the flow of most of the students towards a small village with a lot of houses, this was where the students lived while at the Academy. The two came to a stop in front of one of the houses and Sirius used a key to open the door. The house was fairly simple with a kitchen, living room, bathroom downstairs and four single sized bedrooms and water closet upstairs. Two of the bedrooms belonged to Sirius and Ailith while the other two were empty as their previous house mates had graduated the year previous.

"I wonder what our new house mates will be like." Ailith said after the dropped off her belongings in her room.

"I hope they're more fun to be around that Tech and Glitch, those two were alright but they were a bit creepy." Sirius commented, preparing a small meal for the two of them before they went to bed.

"I hope they won't take apart everything like those two did. I lost count of how many times I had to tell them to leave the toaster alone."

"Truly, it is a depravity to live without your precious toast." Sirius mocked Ailith's love for toast.

Ailith rolled her eyes and chucked a sponge at Sirius that bounced off his head.

The two ate their supper while catching up with one another before they finished and went to bed.

"Finally." Sirius mumbled as he flopped down into his pillow and fell asleep instantly while still wearing his day clothes.

Ailith smiled and shook her head as she went to check on Sirius, the took off his shoes and covered him up before going to her own room and going to sleep.
