The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and a very angry blonde was currently rampaging all over the school grounds, trying to vent out her frustration. Yup, just another normal day at Beacon Academy.

This little incident was brought about by some events that had occurred earlier. The day is currently the day prior to the beginning of Bleeding Hearts week, and everyone was running around like madmen, and mad women. Team RAYR and Team NNWB were also likewise caught up in the festivities. Due to their lack of a relationship, Weiss, Blake, and Yang were all trying to get a certain male with a magenta streak in his hair to act as their dates. Each had, in their own ways tried 'courting' him already, but to not much avail. Ren's week was hell.

Weiss of course tried subtle bribery. Nothing huge, but here and there little expenses of his would end up taken care of, with Ren having no difficulty in figuring out who did it. On top of that, she ate very high class and expensive meals, and never failed to offer him some, usually claiming to have bought too much. Yang, being able as subtle as Godzilla in San Francisco, tried for outright seduction. Little peeks of cleavage here and there, rubbing up on him, slight caresses. Even a few near 'slips' when around him. Ren's mind was nearing its breaking point there. And then came Blake, who was the least pushy about it. She simply went up to Ren and asked him directly. He didn't really give a response. But after the week he'd had, and knowing it'd only be worse that day, he'd finally decided to take Blake up on her offer. Partially because she's the least aggressive, partially because he finds that he enjoys her company, and partially because her lack of excessive talking or usual stoic nature is very easy for him to deal with, unlike a certain busty blonde and orange haired girl.

Yup. So, that day Ren had gone over to the NNWB dorm and asked Blake to accompany him to the festival. Blake, who had not expected Ren to be the one to bring her, quietly accepted with a slight blush. Yang, who'd happened to bypassing by, and Weiss, who was in the room at that time, saw this unfold. Both girls, who'd had the gall to feel insulted (Yang because she felt that he'd chosen Blake over her and her sex appeal, and Weiss because she felt insulted that Ren had chosen anyone besides her), got a little pissed. Weiss simply went to her computer to watch shark videos, while Yang went on a rampage.

Which brought us to now. Yang was running all over the school trying to find a suitable male to take with her to the festivities. And by take, she was planning to literally kidnap anyone who refused her invite.

While Yang was busy terrifying the school's unclaimed male population, Ruby had other plans. Plans that involved having an outing with her boyfriend during the most romantic times she could possibly imagine. Ruby had already prepared food for a picnic tomorrow.

Ruby began to feel a little concern. Something that had been nagging away at Ruby for some time was her... growth. Compared to most others her age, Ruby was lacking in the, as Yang liked to put it, "Assets Department." She didn't really know Jaune's preferences like that, but she knew (or rather, she thought she knew) that most boys preferred a girl who was more developed. Due to her slight insecurities, and with how much she saw around Beacon with all the girls trying to show themselves off as much as possible, she had been feeling angsty all week long.

One thing Ruby generally failed to realize was that because she'd never really had many social skills, she'd developed skills very well suited to a relationship, more so than any "asset" Yang may talk about. Namely, her culinary skills. Quickest way to a man's heart indeed. But, she never thought about that. All she thought about is what she didn't have.

With Jaune, he was having similar worries. Despite having been with Ruby for a while now, he couldn't help but wonder if she found him rather dorky. He wasn't exactly rippling with muscle like most of the men on Beacon, nor did he have Ren's natural good looks to compensate for a lack of physique. And with all the males over the campus preparing to pick up the unclaimed females, or trying to impress their own girlfriends, Jaune worried about what Ruby was thinking.

Teams RAYR and NNWB were plenty aware of their two socially awkward love birds' unfounded worries. Namely because Yang had a tendency to read Ruby's diary to see if anything was bothering her (and should something be bothering her, would immediately and summarily destroy said annoyance), and Jaune was practically an open book most of the time. They were hoping that would get solved soon, as Yang kept muttering something about turning 'Jaune' into 'Jane' should be look at another girl and it upsets Ruby.

But these emotions on the back burner, the two went into Bleeding Hearts week with much excitement. The first day, and the announcement was made.

"Attention to the campus! All students participating in the festivities please remember that only couples are allowed to participate. And except for officially sanctioned events, fighting is prohibited during this period of time. For the time being, please keep all weapons, mêlée or dust based, sheathed at all times. That is all."

With the announcement made indicating the start of Bleeding Hearts Week, Jaune got up and dashed for the training arena. He knew that in all of Beacon, the only place Ruby would be at right now would be there, training. All he cared for was spending the next week with his girlfriend as much as he could.

Likewise, Ruby also held similar thoughts. The moment the message was sent out over the school's announcement system, she'd taken off like a shot from the arena. Crescent Rose sheathed, and hair and skirt waving around wildly. She rushed through the halls at a breakneck speed, hoping to reach the outside, then the dorms.

At this time, Jaune was about to reach the door leading to the Academy's courtyard. Just a little more. Knowing Ruby, she was probably still training. He'd show up, sneak behind her, and maybe try to hug her from behind and tease her a bit...

Knowing Jaune, he was likely still asleep. Or rather, this is what was on Ruby's mind as she raced throughout the halls, flying through the doors one by one. Her plan was simply to arrive before Jaune woke up, and maybe wake him up with a little prank. Maybe even a little kiss...

All he has to do is open that door...

All she had to do was open that door...

Rush through the courtyard and to the arena...

Rush through the halls and to the room...

And...

And...

"WHA-?"

"Oh shi-!"

Promptly crash into one another. Well, the word crash was used, but in reality it was a bit more violent than that. Due to her immense speed, Ruby simply plowed right through Jaune. The two, Ruby stumbling and Jaune being impacted, flew violently through the hallways. After a good several meters, the two finally skidded to a stop. On the ground lay Ruby, dazed with a headache beginning to form. Laid out on top of her, Jaune was out like a light.

"Jaune. Jaune, get up. You're heav~y."

While Ruby tried to get herself out from beneath Jaune, she didn't notice a certain blonde nearby. Yang, who'd seen the thing unfold, decided that for the heck of it a little blackmail was in order. Taking out her scroll, Yang took a few shots from the compromising situation.

"Heheheh. With this, you'll soon be in my back pocket, Ruby." What a rotten sister.

Unaware of her evil big sister with ulterior motives, Ruby tried to extricate herself from beneath Jaune before they both got caught in such an awkward looking situation. Finally managing to get some response from Jaune, Ruby continuously whacked him on the head until he got up.

"Why does it feel like I just got spear tackled by a boarbatusk?"

"Are you okay Jaune? I'm so sorry!"

"No no, it's fine Ruby. It just hurts a whole lot."

Still a bit unsteady on his feet, Ruby helped Jaune on their way back to the room. Once they'd arrived, she sat him down carefully on his bed and went to grab him some milk (her answer to anything.) After he got a chance to recover a bit, and having some milk, Jaune felt a little better.

"What a way to start the day, huh?"

"Yeah. I'm sorry about that."

"It's good Ruby. I'm sturdy, remember?"

"Well, uhm..."

"Err..."

Oh boy, these two. After a little more stuttering, the two finally decided to just forget it ever happened. They were about to g and enjoy themselves when both of them remembered what they'd gone through trouble making for one another, and each grabbed their surprise for the other. Ruby, believing that getting her surprise in early would make the day better, decided to try and play it cool. Or so she thought.

"Hey Jaune, I'm a little hungry. How about you?"

"Not really."

...

"Not even the teensiest bit?"

"No."

God damn it Jaune! Erg... Why isn't he hungry? It should be close to lunch time, right? Aww, this isn't working! Jaune, oblivious as always, was completely unaware that his girlfriend was panicking, thinking instead only on making the right moment to present his gift.

"Hey, Ruby. Did you know that they have a Tunnel of Love, and the boats they used are shaped like Nevermores? Wanna try it out?" Yes, his big master plan was to use the Tunnel of Love, create some type of romantic situation, maybe even a kiss, and present the ring to Ruby. It was perfect. No was she would refuse, right?

"Oh, no. It's fine. I don't feel like it at this time."

Gahh! Damn it Ruby! Why? Jaune was nearly about to cry. His perfect(?) plan was ruined instantly.

And so, amidst their thoughts, the two hunters tried to plan how to best make this day as great as possible for the enjoyment of the other, so quickly forgetting that they still had about a week left to enjoy. But to each other, it was this day that counted. And so, in their folly, the two in their own minds tried to salvage the day.

*Author's Note*

Yeah, not gonna be a long author's note this time. Just wanted to say I will likely make this a four parted with what I have planned. Well, I'm also kind of apologetic that this was a short-ish chapter. Anyhow, yeah, gonna make the next one longer, and add a fourth part to finish the festivities.

So yeah, you all know the song and dance. Comment, be it criticism or just plain ol' love for the series. If it's hate, then take it up with my secretary, Glenda Goodwitch. By the way, she's under orders to torture anyone who dares send me hate. So rain, rain, please do stay. Cinder's coming out to play.
