"Hello, it's been a while since we talked." I smiled, tilting my head to side in a cute fashion so that my blue-grey bangs would fall over my left eye. "It's a pleasure to see your lovely face again."
"What are you doing?" Satan asked me, lying on my bed with part of his legs and his feet hanging off the edge of the bed. Yes, my bed is too short for him, being only five feet tall and him being about a foot taller than me.
"Practicing my lines for a play." I lied to him, turning around blushing slightly. I really don't want him to find out what I was really doing.
"Bull." Satan scoffed out. He turned his head away from whatever had his attention before and looked into my blue eyes with his red ones. I tilted my head to the other side and looked over his shoulder to see that he was reading one of my mangas. I was already embarrassed by his comment to be even more embarrassed about being a nerd. "But really, what the heck was that? Trying to practice confessing to someone?"
I walked over to him and sat on the edge of the bed, the edge of it pushing down with my weight. "Well. . .There is this girl."
"A girl?" Satan asked, putting down the manga book and sitting up, crossing his legs. If the mood of the situation wasn't so serious, I would have commented about how a demon could adapt to the human world. I mean, look at him! He's wearing a black v-neck shirt that exposes his nice collarbones and a retro cross chain choker—which I find ironic for a demon—and a pair of black jeans with a silver studded belt. His hair has also gotten a bit longer so the back part of his hair finally caught up with his bangs. . .but it was a nice layered haircut—like one that you'd see on anime characters.
I should probably stop checking him out since the lifting of his eyebrow signaled to me that I'm taking too long to answer his question. "There is a really cute girl who's in a grade younger than me." I finally confessed to Satan. Satan just stared at me with his expressionless face.
"What happened to that Alois boy?"
I fiddled with my thumbs. "I don't really know what to do about that," I murmured. I haven't spent much time pondering about him. I mean, this girl is reallly cute!
"Oh, she is actually quite cute for a human girl." Sebastian commented. I scooted away from Satan. "H-How d-do you kn-know?" I stuttered, face growing really red as I awaited the criticism in a second. "For sure out of your league," There went the arrow piercing through me, "But for sure you have taste."
Satan leaned his face closer to mine. "Remember, you can't hide anything from me. You should know this by now."
I stayed quiet looking at the wall wondering what to say next.
"Do you want me to change up the wish so that you can get the girl instead of the guy?" Satan asked me as he got up from his stomach and sat up. "At least you'll have a place to put it in, instead of vice verse. Alois strikes me as the person to be top." I twiddled my thumbs thinking. Satan has a point there, but there would never be a chance in my life is I'd ever get a girlfriend or even top. I mean, look at my body shape.
"So do you want to you might actually have a chance—"
"Let's try that." I firmly replied back. Satan raised his eyebrow and then shrugged.
"Alright, I will think of a plan to use as you go do whatever mundanes do at this time of night," Satan concluded before turning his head back down towards the manga book. I raised my eyebrow as I watched Satan pick up the manga book and read it. Like that is so planning. I thought to myself, chuckling slightly.
"Ciel, you are going to be late if you keep sleeping." A voice called out to me. I felt a warm breathing on my cheek. I reflexively swatted at the person, while groaning for more sleep. "Ciel, come on, you're awake now." Then the poking started.
"Sebastian, sweetie, is everything alright?" A more feminine voice called out from the hallway of my bedroom. Sebastian? I wondered as I peeked open one of my eyes. There in front of me was Satan with his usual blank, bored face. Then my mother walked into my view, wearing that terribly ugly pink apron that I wish I could forget about. In her hands were a pan, probably used for cooking, but knowing her and her usual drunk state, she's probably using that for different purposes. "Is your brother not waking up?"
"No, no, he isn't." Satan said with a melancholy toned voice. I stared at him with half lidded eyes as he slowly shook his head side to side. "It's a shame that we can't go to school together."
"What are you doing." I glared at the both of them. "Actually, why are you pretending to be my brother?"
My mother burst out laughing. "Oh, Ciel, you're so funny!"
"No, I'm being dead serious. Why is he pretending to be my brother?"
"You've always been brothers! You're just probably a bit groggy from waking up. Here, why don't you take a bathe and I'll go make breakfast. Maybe you and Sebastian can help each other out."
"Mom, we aren't four anymore." Sebastian "whined" or what I think is whining. He's a bit hard to read sometimes if you haven't noticed already.
"Pfft, does it matter? You're both guys." She waved her hand at Sebastian before walking out of the room.
"Do you want me to wash your back?" I winked at Satan with a smile playful smile. This didn't last long before we submerged to the depths of awkwardness.
"Want me to answer your question?"
"Yes."
"Well," Satan started, "How do I explain this. . ."
I crossed my arms, throwing the covers off me, but then wrapped myself with them again after feeling the morning chill. "Just tell me what you did. I could care less if you told me how you've done it."
"Not like you can do that anyways." He earned another death glare from me. "Well, didn't you want a chance with that cute girl that you have a crush on?" I nodded. "Well, I thought that it might be easier for you both to get together if I went to school with you."
"You want to go to school?" I raised my eyebrow, trying hard not to laugh at him. Imagine, the Lord of Death, pits of fire blazing behind him. . .sitting at a desk. I chuckled.
"I do not like this idea as much as you do." He might have taken my chuckling the wrong way.
"Nah, I like this idea. You can seduce the girl, and I can take her that way." I said with such bitter sarcasm.
"Very funny, otaku." Satan said, taking me by the ear and tugging me out of the bed. "Time to go to school or else the both of us are going to be late."
This is awkward. My daily routine use to be waking up in the morning to my alarm clock, getting ready, eat some breakfast with my mother and then run out of the door with a piece of toast in my mouth—since sometimes I do not eat fast enough. Then I will enjoy a nice—terrible—morning run as I pass by the normal mother and child.
"Voom, voom, it's the bullet train!" The child cried out happily as the mother sadly caressed her child's head. I continued walking ahead now accompanied with a new person. That person is Satan, but I have to call him Sebastian. . .How often do you run across a person called Satan?
"What is a bullet train?" Sebastian asked with his usual all black outfit that exposed his nice collarbones and a backpack of all black too.
"A really fast train." I answered him, trying hard not to cringe at his appearance. "Remind me after school to go shopping for clothes."
"Are you going to go into the petite girl section?"
"No," I said. Sebastian stayed silent, hinting that I should elaborate. "It is for you. Your outfit isn't allowed at this school, so we need to buy you another outfit. Plus, I don't think a girl's skirt would look good on you.
"Very funny." Sebastian said sarcastically.
"Are you going to be okay at a school? I'm not sure how schools in Hell works." I asked concerned, but Sebastian just laughed slightly at me.
"Schools in Hell are terrible things. I went in there once to see the little demons—pun not intended—in the mist of their studying, but I happened to walk in the day where they were learning how to cause terror to cities. I feel bad for the people that had to experience the earthquake of 1906 in California." I nodded along with what he was saying. How bad was the earthquake in 1906? I might need to research that later. "But anyways, with what I've seen in the human schools, and in your little manga books, guys like me act cool in order to fit in. That might be a problem."
I raised my eyebrow at him as we passed the gates of the school. A problem? Looking at Sebastian's fiery appearance of being tall, good looking and with his combination of red eyes and black hair, girls might fall for him on first sight. "Oh, yes, such a problem. Good luck on your first day."
The day proceeded the same as before, but with a bit more excitement. Sebastian happened to enroll in the same year and class that I have, and all the teachers, girls and boys loved him. Girls would gawk at him and whisper to their friends while giggling. The guys either tried to act cool around him, or the gay little ones would blush when Sebastian landed a single gaze on them.
I, on the other hand, sat at a different desk from usual. I usually sit by the window, but the Demon Lord took my seat. Let's just say that I overall was in a bad mood. Just looking at everyone giving the attractive new kid so much attention made me a little jealous.
"Ciel!" A voice called from across the room. Finallllly! Someone that wants to talk to the loser. Turning around, I saw Alois waving at me. I awaited for the weird heart beating that he gave me, but it never came, which was strange.
"Who's the new kid?" He murmured in my ear, using his right hand to shield his mouth as if Sebastian could hear us from this distance—though I wouldn't be surprised if he did.
"I don't know." I pretended to not know him. How would I be able to explain this guy? Best if I pretended to not know him.
When I turned back around to check on Sebastian as if I could see from the mob, but, the mob was gone and so was Sebastian.
"It is not good to lie, Ciel." Slowly turning around, I was blasted in the face with Sebastian's beautiful looks.
"Hello there." Alois greeted, his smile seeming stiff and not genuine. "I am Alois Trancy, and who would you be?"
"Sebastian Michaelis." Sebastian was also smiling, which was rather odd, but his smile was the same tight smile as Alois'. All the girls and guys were whispering about the tension around Alois and Sebastian. I have no idea how to clear it up.
"Ciel. . .Who is this?" A girl asked, but I knew that voice. My heart gave a little happy dance as I looked at the blond girl with curls and cut bangs.
"Oh hey, Lizzy. . Um, this guy? Oh, he's my brother. L-long lost brother, I mean." I stuttered. I wanted to die there on the spot. She smiled at me, or rather behind me.
"It is a pleasure to meet you." Sebastian said beautifully smiling at her. Lizzy's surprised face flushed. Both Alois and I glared at him.
"Come with me." I growled at Sebastian between gritted teeth as I pulled on his arm. Sebastian got up, towering a foot over me, and let me drag him away.
"What are you doing?" I hissed, still speed walking down the hallway. Sebastian walked normal besides me—stupid long legs.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean you and Lizzy."
"Oh is that the girl that you liked? Wow, she looked different than what you imagined." Sebastian said with a bored voice. My heart made a little deflated noise, why is he so monotoned with me, but that's not important at the moment.
"She's totally flirting with you."
"Oh! Little Ciel is jealousss!" A couple of kids in the hallway were staring at us so I quickly shushed Sebastian.
"How would it help me in my situation if she falls for you?" I asked him, crossing my arms in anger.
"Well, not sure now that you mentioned it." Mental facepalm. "But I'll think of something, but now can we go back to the classroom? I rather enjoy being gawked at."
