A/N: Exam has been over last week and I'm back! Just a few things I wanna say before I let y'all indulge in the story. Skip right ahead if you must.
1. I know I'm new here but there's quite a few views so I'm gonna try. Please head over to PlatinumRosewood account and leave her a nice message. Read on her Chapter 18 of 'When Words Fail' and you'd understand why. There's enough love to go around so go spread 'em.
2. (Nothing to do with point 1.) Just wanna say a big thank you to all the writers on this fandom as the 2 nearly 3 years of being a reader, I've read a few awful comments and AN of how writers have been scorned by their readers then finally given up their story. It's heartbreaking to see that because I think for writers to share their story requires courage as well so for them to be put down is just horrible. So here's a BIG THANK YOU to all the writers that have entertained this little reader here for so long.
3. Just to clarify, the word 'carvan' is not a typo from 'caravan'. I just want Emily to have something that is a 7 seater van-like looking car not a mobile home or an excessively huge car. Google the images, you might see the difference.
4. Last but never the least, thank you to the readers here for the reviews, favorite and follows. Or even just simply reading it, it's well appreciated. =)
I'll shut up now.

Chapter 3
It was 7 in the morning, too early for anyone to be in for work at The London Times, yet Freddie McClair was already sitting by his desk. He was clicking and scrutinizing through each of the photos he had taken the day prior on his desktop; convinced that out of all the photos he took, there must be one that had captured Mandy Shanick with Emily Fitch.
His sights were trained on finding that image as he replaced the cup of steaming black coffee back to the coaster. Some people are just not capable of multitasking and predictably, he spilled the coffee all over his mouse when he accidentally placed it by the edge of his keyboard.
"Ugh… Bollocks!" he shouted as he grabbed the tissues and started wiping his keyboard and mouse. During his clean up, he managed to unintentionally zoom in on the picture he had captured and that was when he spotted it. The back view of a female in a cream coloured suit, stood behind a building a few blocks away and seemingly trying to hide but not doing a very good job of it.
Freddie took a closer inspection and upon memory, confirmed that the cream coloured suit was indeed what Mandy had worn during the ceremony.
He printed the photos and waited till 9.30 a.m., the actual opening time for work to go up to the President's office. On the 40th floor, he was ushered by the secretary to the majestic mahogany double doors with gold plated signs inscribed with 'Leonardo McClair'. He entered after knocking and was met face to face with his father.
"Good morning, Frederick." The man seated in a grand office chair was reaching his mid-fifties, dressed in a navy suit with reclining hairline and a slightly protruding beer belly greeted. "Must be drowning in work, son. Seeing as you didn't even turn up for your sister's art exhibition yesterday. So, to what do I owe this pleasure?" Although Leo was smiling, Freddie could tell that his father was not happy about his absence especially with the snide remark.
"Good morning, Mr McClair." Freddie replied grimly, knowing how his dad found it inappropriate for him to be called anything else at work. "Yeah, about that, I was following a case." He took out the photos he had printed earlier from his folder and placed it in front of his father. "That's Shanick. I believe that was the suit she was wearing when she attended Karen's exhibition, no?" Freddie asked, knowing that what he had said was enough to intrigue his father.
Freddie was filling him in on how he was chasing the car Mandy was in that had led to the car crash and eventually the photos. At the same time, Leo leaned forward, giving the photos a quick glance without even picking them up. Then, turned to look at his son and with a dismissive wave of his hands said, "There isn't even a clear view here, Freds."
Freddie hated it when he did that. Call Freddie by 'Freds' or 'son' at work when he was putting him down. Yet when Freddie let the word 'dad' slip out at work when they were having a private discussion, he gets a week of lecture on how it was not the proper conduct even for the boss' son. 'Two-face bastard', Freddie thought to himself.
Freddie started to protest but before he could put a word in, Leo put up his hand and continued, "I don't know what it is about Shanick that you don't like but this is the last time I'm saying this. Stay away from it. Karen's happy with Shanick then I'm happy with Shanick, got that clear son?"
Freddie knew then it was pointless to argue and if he was to prove how much of a hypocrite the Shanicks were to everyone including his father, he would need more concrete evidence. He nodded begrudgingly.
"Alright. If you would, get back to work. I have a phone call to make." With that, Freddie up and left, leaving the photos behind as per his father's instructions.
Once Leo was left behind closed doors, he took out his phone and dialled the number with one hand while holding the pictures that were left behind with the other.
"Mr Shanick, I think we need to have a word about your daughters' say… adventures."
"Hi, I'm looking for Naomi Campbell's office?"
Sophia looked up from her nails with a scowl on her face, thoroughly annoyed at whoever was taking away her time from filing her precious nails. Until recognition sets in and she realised who was standing in front of her with a bouquet in her hands.
"E-Emily Fitch?" Sophia asked with a dumbfounded look. Emily nodded demurely and offered her an award winning smile in reply.
When Sophia still hasn't answered, she raised her immaculate brows in hopes of getting an answer.
That snapped Sophia out of her shocked mind. "Sal-Sales Department, eleventh floor. The elevator is to the right." She answered systematically, still shell shocked to say anything else. 'The signatures' she thought. "They're real." Sophia muttered to herself while she stood to follow the small crowd.
As the twins was heading for the elevator, the crowd around has stopped whatever they were doing and looked towards the twins' way with slacked jaw and wide eyes. Katie knew how much of a show stopper Emily could be and soaked in the attention received from the ground alongside Emily.
Once they were in the privy of the lift, Katie turned to Emily and harshly whispered, "I can't believe you're blowing them off. Do you know how fucking long it took for me to arrange a date which both the producers and us are free?" her lisp prominent as does the frustration in her tone.
"Remember Tyler? Tyler Knight" Emily replied nonchalantly. Her eyes to the front with a straight face, unfazed by Katie's outburst.
"The director of that series, yeah, why?"
"I received an email from him this morning after you came into my room. Told me he'd like me in the show and was perfect for the role of an innocent teenage girl chasing the closeted lesbian. So what's more to talk about?" Emily drawled out, now spotting a slight smirk with her eyebrows raised to her sister as the lift pinged their arrival.
"And why is it that I'm only hearing that now? Bitch." Katie obviously unhappy that she was left to worry throughout the whole car ride, sending apology emails to the producers as she nagged at Emily. "I thought you were throwing another one of your 'I'm rich and famous and I can't give a shit' hissy fit. So, what are we doing here then?" Katie asked as they reached the reception desk of the Sales Department.
"I'm looking for my friend to ask her out for lunch, as a thank you for last night," she answered but was looking at the blonde that was sitting behind the counter.
The blonde looked at the twin with widening eyes to the size of saucer plates and a grin that made her seem more than a little like a manic. "Holy whacker! Emily, Emily Fitch!"
"Yeah," Emily said with a hesitant half-smile, slightly taken aback by how loud the blonde was shouting her name.
Pandora bounded out of her seat, gripping Emily's right hand that was resting atop the counter and started shaking it, almost violently. "I'm Pandora, I must be dreaming and what a whizzer dream this is. Can I make monkey with you?" Pandora's word vomit and enthusiasm left Emily with an incredulous smile even if she did not really understand.
"What?" Both the twins answered incredulously.
Before Pandora could start off on another round, the commotion by Pandora's shouting has already attracted attention from within the department.
"What's all the fuckin' noise about?" Kieran who was accompanied by Thomas and JJ asked huffily. The sight that greeted him rendered him speechless for a good minute.
"Sir, if my sights are correct, which most likely is considering the fact that I have it checked with the optician just last week. I think the noise is about Emily Fitch standing there. Which if I must say is understandable since I'm about to scream like a girl right now." JJ rambled on, looking like he is about to faint on the spot.
"I'm with JJ on this one, Sir." Thomas inputted.
"I'm going to take that as a compliment then," Emily replied easily, having seen enough fan's verbal vomit in her career life. "I'm looking for my friend, Naomi Campbell, are you her colleagues?" she continued.
"Me!" Kieran shouted, turning red from embarrassment but eager to get the actress' attention. "Me. I'm Kieran, the team leader of the sales division."
"Yes? Lead the way then." Emily said with a winning-smile and Kieran's face seem to grow a shade darker.
"She refused to leave the printer room until she fixed the damn printer, I'm sure she'll come out now." Kieran spoke with his voice gruffer than usual. They made their way to the printer room as the crowd followed behind.
"Look what we have here, me lass!" Kieran shouted to Naomi's back as he entered the room.
Naomi turned around seeing Emily with a bouquet of flowers in her hands and Katie behind donning an actual kind smile. "Hi Naomi, are you alright there?" Emily greeted, pointing to the printer.
With the amount of surprise going through her, Naomi took some time before she managed to squeak out a greeting, unsure of the purpose for Emily's visit. "Y-ye. No… How did you…?"
"Oh," a paused "yesterday was your birthday and I was thinking of asking you to lunch as a belated birthday celebration." With her outstretched hand she presented the bouquet of flowers to Naomi, "Happy Birthday."
Naomi was standing there, eyes fleeting to the bunch of flowers and Emily's face. "What are you waiting for lassie? Take the flowers already, ya gonna tire her out." Kieran's annoyed voice broke Naomi out of her reverie.
"Oh, yes. Yes," Naomi closed the gap in two strides and took the flowers into her hands.
"Happy Birthday, Naomi." Katie added while handing over a present.
"Than-Thank You." Naomi fumbled as Emily's personal bodyguard handed another present over. "How come there is so many of them?" Naomi questioned befuddled.
"Bonkers, it's a designer brand bag." Panda exclaimed with envy after peeping a look into a paper bag. "Wow, Naomi, how did you know Emily Fitch?" Panda asked curiously.
There was a moment of silence as everyone in the room looked on to the spectacle playing out.
"Naomi is a very special fan of mine, she drives me around sometimes when she can. Isn't that right?" Emily spoke up instead seeing that Naomi was struggling to answer.
"Yes. Yes." Naomi answered trying her best not to stutter. There was a bout of mummers after that, whispers of how close Naomi must be to Emily to be able to drive her around.
"So… I was saying, lunch as a birthday celebration, my treat. Would you all like to join us?" Emily address to the people in the sales department.
"Lunch. Together?" JJ asked from beside Naomi.
"Yes." Emily answer and there was a cheer from behind as everyone was about to burst with excitement on the prospect of eating with a star was confirmed. All except for one scowling Sophia who had join the small crowd and gone up the second lift to see what this was about.
Naomi glanced at the clock and spoke, "But… it's only 11, lunch is still another hour away." And silence descended upon the previously animated voices in the room with Naomi looking around awkwardly.
"There's a seafood restaurant nearby that allows reservation, I can book the table for us at 12 and you guys can come join us around lunch time." Katie piped in to rescue Naomi from the death glares she was receiving. With that, the room was filled with excited chatter once more.
After nearly an hour of walking around the restaurant and entertaining fans on the street, the twins and Emily's personal bodyguard made their way back to the restaurant. As Emily was boarding, she received a call and upon checking the caller ID found that it was Mandy calling.
"Hey Mans," Emily greeted once she was in the safety of her car.
"Where are you?" Mandy asked urgently.
"What's wrong, Mans?" Emily question, immediately concern on what could have happened.
"I need you here, Em, it's my dad. I'll text you the address okay, just… Come over, now, yeah?" With that Mandy ended the call.
Emily hopped out of the car, spotting Katie standing by the building and speaking to a client about an upcoming advertising shoot. Katie finish the call as she saw Emily approaching and her body language was practically screaming 'urgent' in Katie's face. Emily explained Mandy's call and within a minute they were going back to the carvan.
As they were leaving, the crew of the sales department from the postal office were making their way towards the restaurant and Katie informed them that there was an urgent matter which they have to leave now to handle. "The reservation is under your name, Naomi. It's under our tab so feel free to eat as much as you like." Katie said as she enter the car, giving Naomi an apologetic nod.
"I thought we get to eat with Emily Fitch," Naomi heard Pandora mutter disappointedly from behind her as they watch the vehicle drive away.
Emily has been standing by the window of the hotel after being informed of what have gone through in the morning at the Shanicks regarding the phone calls about the photos. She have been looking at the figure sitting by the desk for a good 15 minutes now, "Mans, don't just sit there with that gloom and doom face. Just tell me if this is what you would like me to do?"
Mandy remained staring into space with a stoic expression. Emily walked over and knelt in front of her, "Just say what you always do 'Em, six months as I've promised and we'll find happiness. Don't you trust me?'" she imitated as she was bringing Mandy into a hug. "I'll do it. I'll do it, okay?" and finally she felt Mandy respond by pulling her into the hug.
Katie who has been sitting outside the room walked in after hearing Emily, "Okay, so say we go with creating the scandal, who are we going to find in such short period of time? If we don't find one like, today, you know the papers are gonna be filled with the photos tomorrow, seeing how much the elder McClair hate being lied to."
"How about Whitney? The newbie that just gotten into the show biz? I'm sure she'll be interested to make a buzz for her name." Emily asked, breaking away from the hug and settling onto the bed.
"Okay, and what if she refused? She'll have your affair as a bargaining chip and that'll just make things worse." Katie asked exasperated. "Fuck! Fuckity Fuck Fuk! Mandy, what the fuck is wrong with your dad?! And you expect to find someone right away, someone you can trust?!"
Processing Katie's last two question, eureka strike Mandy as she said, "the post officer."
"Where is this place?" Naomi questioned as Katie parked the car outside a modern grey single detached house lined along the neighbourhood.
"This," Katie said pointing towards the building-like house, "Is my home. Well, mine and Emily's to be accurate."
"Emily's?" Naomi asked but no answer came as Katie led their way in through the walkway of the garden.
"Wow…" Naomi said in awe as she spotted the sleek black 72" smart TV sitting above the white television console, along with the elegant rectangular white coffee table that was surrounded by a grey couple sofa and a red plushy couch. "It's so huge and spacious in here." She said as she sat upon the couple sofa.
"You're here," Emily walked out from the door by the living area. "You must be surprised from my sudden invitation for you to come over after your work."
"No, no, it's fine," Naomi answered insistently while standing up to level with the twins who were still standing.
"I actually invited you over because I have a request to ask," Emily said shyly, knowing that whatever that she is going to ask is going to be too much even for someone as generous as Naomi.
"Yeah? Ask away and I'll do whatever I can to help especially after the amount of effort you have put in today." Naomi provided eagerly.
"It's gonna be a difficult request and I know it might be too much but I really need your help." Emily continued, trying to put off verbalising what she is about to ask.
"It's alright, if it's for you, I'm sure I'll do whatever I can to assist you in solving your problems" Naomi replied happily.
"Well… Will you…" Emily stumbled, looking up through her lashes. "Will you be my… my girlfriend?"
"What?" Naomi ask, the smile fading away from her face fast.
Boy. How a day can change your life.
