Chapter 3: Desserts and Deserts

Jack was speechless as I walked out of the house towards Bumblebee, partially because Bumblebee was choking him out with a seatbelt and somewhat because he was stunned by my appearance.

I smacked the arm of the holoform escorting me to the car, and glared, "Y'know, it would be nice for my date to be able to open the door for me you overprotective glitch!"

"Fine," He deflated, and the seatbelts flew off of Jack at lightning speed. 'Bee knew better than to piss me off.

Jack straightened out his blue tie, cleared his throat, and got out of Bumblebee to open the passenger door for me, "Sari, you look-"

The words became caught in his throat, and I blushed and gracefully slid into the car. I made sure all of the skirt of my dress was inside before Jack gently closed Bee's door and went around to the other side of the car to get in.

He looked at me and raised an eyebrow, "Ready?"

I nodded, and Bumblebee started his engine and started to drive off. I was ecstatic, this was my very first date. Back home, my dad wasn't very keen on the idea of me dating. Not that I blamed him. One second I was an eight-year-old with and attitude and the next I was a sixteen-year-old with raging hormones. Poor dad never saw that one coming.

"So where are we going," I asked with a giggle, but out of the corner of my eye I saw Miko's bedroom light switch off.

What in the world is she up to now?

Miko tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for her partners-in-crime to show up. She was wearing all black and a pair of tennis shoes just in case a quick getaway was in order. Sari, her Sari, had always teased about watching too many crime shows but Miko thought that she had learned quite a bit about stealth. That was about to be put to the test.

Miko heard a garbage can bang to her right, a surprisingly loud noise in the dead of the night, and rolled her eyes. She hopped down the steps, and saw her best friend/younger brother spinning helplessly in a circle with the huge garbage can almost swallowing his small form.

No wonder the poor boy gets shoved into trashcans at least two times a week…

Miko helped Raf get the garbage can off his head, and he spat a few times. She delicately grabbed a lone banana peel off of his head, as the poor kid rubbed the newly formed bump. Raf was also dressed quite like Miko, and looked up at her with a quizzical expression.

"Where's Bulkhead?" he asked and Miko responded by whistling shrill and sharply.

A green car pulled up, and flashed its lights twice. "Oh." They climbed into Bulk with Miko in the driver's seat, and Raf in the passenger side. "So where are we going?" Miko smiled knowingly,

"Je t'aime of course." Raf crinkled his nose in confusion at this.

"The restaurant you dork, I didn't really mean 'I love you!', I meant -" She saw his eyes water, and hurried to say, "Well I do love you but as a friend." His eyes lit up and a small smile appeared on the corners of his mouth. "Wait," Came Bulkhead's voice from the lit-up console.

"Why are we following them again, I mean we can trust Jack right? And Bumblebee is with them."

An evil grin appeared on Miko's lips, "Because if he breaks my cousin's heart, I'm going to break his nose."

"This is.. Perfect." I said as Jack pulled out my chair to help me in.

He smiled, "Really? Miko picked it out saying you would like it because you love Italian food."

My eyes went wide and my mouth dropped open, "I KNEW SHE WAS UP TO SOMETHING!" I received some glares from some of the people around us, and Jack shushed me.

"Calm down Sar, I'm sure that she wouldn't interfere with our date, tonight is just about the two of us."

"... Tonight is just about the two of us..." Miko imitated Sari and Jack laughing. She and Raf were lying on the roof using binoculars and a sound amplifier to hear what was being said.

"Bulkhead here," came his voice from the short-wave walkie-talkie. "Hey Bulk what's wrong?" Miko asked hearing great concern in his voice.

"We have a big problem..."

"You did not!" I snorted, reaching across the table to playfully hit Jack in the arm. I threw my head back laughing, and then gasped.

"Oh crap, now I know why Miko wanted me to go to this restaurant." Jack realized where I was looking and turned. A lone microphone sat on the stage.

I thought I had just heard someone singing and realized that this was the restaurant where they used a spotlight to pick the next singer. We watched the bright spotlight turn in a slow circle, only to land on me.

"Our next contestant," came a deep, disguised, and electrified voice. We both knew at once who it was at once; Miko and Raf's giggles traveled from the roof and I would have been able to hear it with ease even without my enhanced hearing.

I guess I really don't have a choice.

Ignoring Jack's protesting, I got up, walked up the stage steps. I knew this was Miko's way of trying to show people my talent. When we were at home the other day, I had been humming while I was in the shower. Without even meaning to, the tune turned into lyrics. The next thing I knew, Miko all but broke down the bathroom door, scaring the living slag out of me. I wrapped myself up in the shower curtain as I squealed. onceI got over my initial shock, Miko started to say how beautiful my voice was and how I should enter the Spring Talent show. I laughed and blew her off saying it was a hobby, one that I never ever intended to show to anyone else.

Now, barely three days later, I was whispering my request in the lead guitarist's ear and prancing over to the microphone, waiting for the music to start.

I tried not to look anywhere but the floor as I started the first few lines, "There's a place… that I know. It's not pretty there and few have ever gone." A few people in the crowd let out whistles as did Raf up on the roof and Jack was quick to turn and shoot them dirty looks.

"If I show it to you now…Will it make you run away?" Glancing up, I saw the first section of tables were bobbing their heads to the beat. Smiling a little bit, I picked up my head and began to look around. I grabbed the microphone from the stand and started prancing more around the stage.

"Please remind me who I really ammmm…" I jumped and landed on the ground just as the beat hit.

"Everybody's got a dark side. Do you love me? Can you love mine? Nobody's a picture perfect, but we're worth it. You know that we're worth it. Will you love me? Even with my dark side?"

The rest of the song was going really well. I was all but over my nerves, and now that I really settled into it, I was okay with being a little more theatrical. I thought I was going to finish without an incident but of course, me being me, I was clumsy enough to make a mistake. I traveled a tad too close to the edge of stage and caught my heel (not that I was the most graceful person to begin with but seriously, adding heels to the mix?) on the edge of the velvet piece taped on part of the stage.

Shit. Slag. Scrap. Help.

From literally out of nowhere, my prince appeared. Though instead of a shining knight in armor with a white horse, mine was in the form of a yellow Camaro with black racing stripes.

Sort of.

Last second, Bumblebee's holoform reached out to grab me and cradle me in his arms in in the bridle position. As I landed with a loud 'oofmh', it took me a second to get my bearings. Once I did, I picked up the song and tried to act like nothing had happened.

"Don't run away, don't run awayyy. Just promise me you will stay, promise me you will stay ay aye yeah-ah-uh." 'Bee picked up pretty quick, and clambered up onto the stage. Setting me down, he spun me around and let me go back to the microphone stand.

"Don't run away, don't run away," I placed the microphone back onto stand and tucked a hair behind one ear, smiling shyly, "Don't run away, promise you'll stayyy."

On the last note, my voice wavered, and the whole restaurant burst into cheers and applause.

I giggled and squealed as Bumblebee, who was still on the stage, scooped me up and spun me around in a circle, "That was absolutely beautiful Sari!"

"Thanks 'Bee," I blushed, "How did you get here so fast?"

We moved off and the stage and started to make our way back to where Jack was waiting, "I actually didn't know you were in trouble to be honest. I guess I just got here in the nick of time. I was coming to talk to you and Jack."

I started back up at his baby blues in utter confusion, "What's going on?"

"Two Cons coming in hot to our location. We think they're after you."

My real smile was replaced with a fake one as I hugged Jack, "There's 'Cons. We've gotta go."

I was glad that they hadn't ordered anything yet, so we didn't have to wait to pay or anything. We jumped into 'Bee's alt mode and sped away.

I didn't know if anyone had bothered to tell or grab Miko or Raf and was concerned for their wellbeing. Certainly someone had to have driven them to the restaurant. My money was on Bulkhead.

We soon saw headlights behind us so Bee sped up, and Jack and I froze. Jack all but tackled me down so we wouldn't be seen, and we stayed that way until Miko's voice came through the comm link.

"It's okay, it's just us."

I relaxed and pushed Jack off of me. He grinned apologetically as Raf's voice sounded through the radio,"So now what.

"The old library outside of town, we wait for them there."

"And then what?"

I transformed smoothly into her robot mode and turned to look at Jack as my face mask came down. My blue eyes glowed brightly as I stated simply, "We wait for them to come to us, and then we kick some serious Decepticreep ass."

"Make the elevator come a little faster. I'm pushing all the buttons, but nothing's happening. Please, God, don't let anybody see me. Please, God, I'll do anything you ask me. I promise, no more walks of shame…"

My voice rang out loud and clear in the eerie quiet of the night. I was getting much more comfortable with singing around people and was doing it now to absentmindedly pass the time. Miko and Raf were sitting on Bulkhead's hood, and Jack and I were perched out on Bee's. We had convinced the bots to stay in their alt modes until it came time for actual fighting, because we figured the bots would be pretty jumpy with the incoming 'Cons.

Raf drummed his fingers impatiently, he may not enjoy downing Cons but secretly he couldn't wait to see me kick some aft. A couple of beeps were heard from Miko's Game Boy which had been entertaining the girl for the past twenty minutes. Jack was texting Sierra, which didn't make me upset for some odd reason, I guess I'm just not the jealous type. Besides, I had already hacked it using my neural net and they were literally just talking about Chemistry.

And no, not that kind.

A different kind of beep was heard from my internal systems, and everyone turned to look at me. Rolling my eyes, Miko, Raf, Jack and I jumped off of the bots and they transformed into robot mode. I also transformed smoothly and checked my internal-arm tracker.

"Well, it was just two blips, but it looks like ugly one and two decided to bring some friends." I smirked, showing them the six blips on the screen. Bulkhead and Bumblebee smiled, knowing they would get some action. Believe it or not, fighting can be a great stress reliever. Since Prowl died, I had accompanied each of the 'bots on patrols.

The blurry purple spots were soon seen revving towards us from across the barren desert. Kicking up dust, their tires were spinning so fast, I wasn't sure if they would have enough traction to stop in time.

Here we go

The 'Cons transformed and landed about twenty feet away. I quickly transmitted a comm to Bulkhead and Bumblebee as an idea filled my processor.

::Wait! Give me two minutes:: They just shrugged, looked at each other. Bulkhead must have said something to the very tense Bumblebee because he soon relaxed and they both retracted their blasters.

I cautiously took a step forward, and the 'Cons wearily took a step back. I took in a deep breath, "Look, I know that you've just come here to destroy us with no remorse but first.. Hear me out."

The 'Cons cocked their heads a little as if trying to decide whether or not this was a trap or not. After a few tense moments, the one towards the front (who must've been in charge) finally spoke.

"We will listen, but make one false move, and-" He quickly pulled an arm cannon out of his subspace, "You're toast." I nodded in understanding as Miko, Jack and Raf gulped.

Why the frag haven't they ran for cover yet?

I began my tale, my mechanical voice coming from underneath my helmet. "Look where I come from, there also is a battle where the Decepticons and Autobots pretty much want to kill each other. The Allspark-" All Cybertronian optics widened, "- chose me to protect a key."

I retracted a part of by my neck and reached down to pull out the silver key with blue mechanical markings. I kept it on me at all times. I knew that it was powerless now but something told me that it would come in handy at some point.

Some day.

"The key gave me the ability to upgrade bots, fix them, repair them, etc. I even brought Optimus back to life with it before." The Decepticons took a step forward with their guns raised, and Bulk subspaced his wrecking ball as Bee reached for his arm cannons.

I snorted in amusement and shook my head, "Boys.. They never learn." The drone looked at me in annoyance, and made a move forward again.

"Ahahah, let me finish! Anyways, I felt helpless to help my friends when they had to battle some alien space goop thingy. So I upgraded myself and went from being a semi-normal eight year old with hand-blasters to a sixteen year old with full body armor and an upgraded processor, er brain."

The kids and Autobots all had expressions of shock plastered on their faces. I had kind of intentionally left out that little detail when giving them my life story.

It was just too weird.

"When I upgraded myself, I was so uncontrolled that I almost took out half of Detroit. I stabbed my best friend Bumblebee," I paused as the 'Cons' helms snapped to where said 'bot was standing, "Not him you scrap heaps. I mean.." I paused for a second. "There's honestly no way to word this correctly."

"Moving on." Came Miko's voice and I turned to shoot the younger girl a glare. She was too busy fake-yawning to notice.

I took a deep breath before continuing, "Anyways, 'Bee took some major damage. Our medic Ratchet thought he needed the key to repair 'Bee. Prowl was able to retract the key from me and get it to Ratchet but they discovered that I had drained all of the Allspark energy in my upgrade. Ratchet eventually had to hit me with his CPU to knock me out so he could disable my upgrades. Prowl worked with me until I could learn to control them."

"Have any of you seen another Megatron waltzing around like he owns the place?" 'Bee tried and I turned to glare at him, "Bee!"

"What's he talking about?" The leader questioned, and I frowned, "Nothing, nothing. We should probably keep the high grade away from the younglings," I clicked my tongue, "Am I right?"

I heard tires approaching rapidly and grinned unseen under my helmet.

Showtime.

The Con in charge spoke again, not looking the least bit convinced, "What does any of this have to do with anything?" I pursed my lips, and then smirked.

::Get ready:: I commed.

Jack, get Miko & Raf to safety. I texted Jack whose phone beeped not a second later, disturbing the uncomfortable silence.

I brought out my glowing blue knives, "It doesn't. I just wanted to see if you were actually stupid enough to give us the upper hand."

The Autobots and I, including Arcee and Optimus who I had stalled long enough to get here, charged while Miko, and the boys ran for the cover the library would provide them.

Until someone got thrown into it.

Huh.

Maybe not the best cover.

Once they were safely inside, Raf took out his laptop.

"What are you doing?" Jack asked him as he tried to peer outside to see how the Autobots were doing.

Raf typed in a few commands into his laptop, "Oh nothing much, just hacking into Sari's processor and hooking up to her optics so we can see what's going on."

Miko's mouth dropped open, she moved her jaw up and down but all she could manage was a small squeak.

Jack smiled, "Wow Raf, you have Miko at a loss for words, that's a first!"

"You can do that?!" Miko finally managed to choke out. Raf looked up and pushed his glasses farther up his nose, "Yes, but I never have because it's kind of rude."

I had slashed through the first 'Con like it was made of butter. I retracted her knifes and brought down her hammer on the second.

Bulk and 'Bee seem to be holding their own… Arcee and Optimus should be fine as well

While I was thinking about this, a drone managed to get the advantage on me. The 'Con shot directly at me, ramming me back into the library building.

Ouch! I really need to watch my back!

I realized if the building took another hit, it could damage the main beam thus making for an instantaneous collapse. I was hoping that Jack, Miko, and Raf weren't inside when a voice came from inside my head.

::Sari, come in. Can you hear me?::

::Jack!? What the slag are you doing inside of my head?::

I had sent text messages and had received and sent comms through my processor but feeling another human (if I could even call myself that) inside my head was the strangest thing to happen to me to date.

And I had thought I was human just a few years ago.

And had went from being an eight-year-old human girl to being a sixteen-year-old techno-organic.

The 'Con snuck and grabbed me tightly in his meaty metal hands. I struggled with all of my might but he slammed me to the ground. MY body made an indentation in the hard desert sand as I landed and I felt something crack. I bit my tongue to keep from screaming but the throw earned him the satisfaction of a yelp. Shakily I got to my feet, and fire shot through my ankle, causing me to stager.

::Hey does anyone know what pages out math homework was on?::

I grunted, and sunk to my knees, retracting my face mask to spit out some sand that had got underneath it.

::Miko? Darling?::

::Yes?::

::NOW'S NOT A GOOD TIME!::

::Sorry and hey Sari, DUCK!::

I wondered what they were talking about but did as they said. Bumblebee came flying over me and would have gave me some major damage if I hadn't listened.

::How did you guys know that?::

::I hacked into the old security camera..::

This place still had a security camera, what the slag? It's ancient!

::..and into your processor and optics.:: I could hear the guilt in his voice but still, he knew it was an insolent thing to do.

::Raf, it's okay. Thank you. But don't think that when we get back to base, I'm above disabling your laptop.:

He groaned back over the line and disconnected the link. I turned back to the fight and realized that the six had called in for backup. Breakdown and Bulkhead were fighting with their hammers and wrecking balls. Arcee was grappling with Starcream aka The Dorito of Doom.

Optimus was fighting who I guessed was their Megatron. Looking around I finally caught sight of Bumblebee who seemed to be in need of the most help. I took out a few energy bolts and fired them at the 'Con he was struggling with. The 'Con with the red paintjob turned towards me and I recognized him almost immediately as he turned towards me screaming, "WATCH THE PAINT!"

"Huh, so you're the glorious Knockout I've heard so much about," As he looked down at me in disbelief, I continued.

"Wow I love your chrome fenders, totally retro." He reached down and picked me up, making me wobble a bit before he brought me towards his chassis a bit.

"You know; you aren't bad looking for an Autobot. Nice aft too, even if you are just a mini-con." I looked at him, my sapphire eyes wide in disbelief.

Did he just…?

"Okay one, ew! Two-" I retracted my mask to show my whole face.

"I'm a techno-organic! I don't even know what the frag a minicon is." Knockout dropped me and I had been expecting it so I had turned on my jetpack.

Bumblebee quickly charged from behind and punched Knockout in the helm snarling viciously, "No one hits on my girl."

I failed to see the red flickering in his optics as I deactivated my jet-pack and groaned in pain.

"Sari, are you okay?" I could hear the concern in his voice but my eyes were constricted as agony overtook my frame. My ankle ached like it never had before and I knew that even with my advanced healing, it would take several days for me to recover. My sides ached as well, giving me the impression that one or more ribs could possibly be broken. More than likely it was from being thrown earlier.

I could hear a transformation sequence in the background and soon as pair of human hands were holding my fatigued form up, "Sar? Sari, you've got to get up. Sari? There's more 'Cons coming, you've got to get up!"

"Bee?" I opened my eyes cautiously to the brightness.

His holoform's face was inches from mine and I smiled slightly, "Hi."

"Hi gorgeous," I giggled as he grinned, "Is you giving me a spark attack going to be a weakly occurrence...?"

"Probably," I muttered back, "Didn't you say something about more 'Cons?"

"Yeah. We have about ten more on their way."

"WHAT?!"

If the 'Cons make it to our location, more than one of us are likely to get hurt. And the humans? They'd more than likely perish. What could I possibly d…? Wait a second…

"'Bee, put me down!" I struggled within his hold, and he all but dropped me. I quickly settled into my mediation stance and began to hum to help with my concentration. I realized with great sorrow that the last time I had done processor-over-matter was a week before Prowl had died. I shook her head, dismissing the memory. I focused, more than I ever had before. This wouldn't be like moving something with my mind but rather causing something to implode on itself.

I could feel the minds as I reached out to them.

Feel all of the regret and sorrow.

Feel all the hatred and remorse for following Megatron.

But there was nothing I could do.

The POM worked, causing their helms to implode. I could faintly see in my mind as Bumblebee swiftly snatched me up to shield my form from the falling 'Cons. But something strange happened. As I went to open my optics, I felt a tugging in my gut and the blackness I saw became a blue wall. It was kind of shimmering like diamonds and I realized that I heard voices.

Whispering.

Calling out to me.

I walked over to it and placed my palm on it, hoping that she might get a little bit of data on what it was. My hand glowed blue but I had to immediately pull it away. The amount of energy running under the palm of my hand, pure energy, was enough to make me dizzy.

Woah, head rush…

"Is this the.. Th-the We-Well of Allsparks?!" I screeched. A gold and black light emitted itself from the wall and started to take a form. I had no idea what it was until it stopped moving and took the shape of a bot. My sapphire eyes grew enormous, and I deactivated my armor, taking human form again, my blue dress giving off rainbow light where the Well's light hit the sparkles. I tucked a piece of straightened hair behind my ear and walked forward.

A very familiar ninja bot in armor gold and black paint with a visor that lit up blue stood before me

I finally gathered enough courage to speak, "P-, Prowl is it really you?"

He smiled and looked down at me with those cerulean eyes I never thought I'd see again, "Hello Sari. It's very nice to see you again."
