"I wish I were important," whispered the little angel, and so he was.

Come here, child, says the Great Mother, the First of All Things. Come here, my dearest darling, and know there are amazing things in store for you.

For me? asks the newest angel, wings still feathery down and eyes the clearest crystal blue.

The Mother enfolds him in her arms, cradling him close to her heart. It will be a long time, she tells him, humming a lullaby. Years and years before the world is ready for you. But keep faith, love. Believe in yourself. You are so important... She kisses the crown of his head and murmurs, My little spirit of change.

God is the Father. Everyone knows it. He created the angels, and all the worlds, and every living thing.

But where did God come from? That is the thing angels don't wonder. Angels aren't curious.

Humans are, though, and when Dean Winchester asks Castiel, Castiel cannot tell him how God came to be.

After all, God simply always was.

Come here, child, says the Great Mother, the First of All Things. Come here, my dearest darling, and know that I am so proud of you.

God is the Father, but every father had a Mother, and her youngest child has exceeded her wildest expectations.

His wings are strong, gleaming gold in her glow, and his eyes are still the clearest crystal blue, the same shade as eternity.

And the Mother kisses his forehead and tells him, Go back to your human, sweetheart. He's waited eons for you.

Castiel smiles at her, bows his head, and returns to Earth.
