Chapter 39: Good Things

Alice's POV

Now that Edward and Leah were an official couple and she was this superhuman or hybrid being. Things were quite different around the house. Her new powers were even more proof as far as I was concerned that my brother had made the right choice. Leah's new skill set made it so she could read people's "spirit", that's how she described it anyway. I felt like she could tap into peoples' conscious and see what it was that they were about. In using her powers it seemed like she could tap into a little of what Jasper and I could do. She can now sense who a person is and what they are feeling and in most instances predict what they are going to do based on how they are feeling. She claims it's just deductive reasoning but I can't be so sure. However, all of this power made it interesting to be around Edward and Leah at the same time, mainly because they didn't talk much to each other. The exchanged looks and she stare into his eyes he'll smirk or makes so facial expression leaving everyone else oblivious to what they were discussing mentally.

"I just find it a little annoying that's all," I chatted with Rose as we came back from our hunt.

"That's only because you're nosy," she chuckled and nudged me. "Leah told me if they said what they were thinking out loud we'd only be grossed out." She shrugged and I gasped.

"So you must've thought it was annoying too you asked her about it!" I proclaimed and Rose glared at me with mild annoyance.

"I just ask her what they were doing when they dazed off like that. She told me they are just talking sometimes they forget we can't hear them and other times they are things we really don't want to know. It's kind of like the way you and Edward play chess. Maybe if you try hard enough you can talk to her the same way. I'm sure then you wouldn't whine about it," Rose teased. I hadn't given that any thought maybe it Leah looked into my eyes she could communicate with me too. I'd have to try it.

"I'm surprised I am the one that's okay with it! You are usually more understanding of things like this due the fact that you mental …"

"You mean mentally advanced," I completed her sentence because it seemed like she was at a loss for words.

"No, I mental is what I meant to say," Rose chuckled. We were walking pretty slow the night was kind of peaceful and Emmett and Jasper were preoccupied doing whatever it was that they were doing. "I'm just wondering how long Leah's going to want to stay here. I may not be the biggest Edward fan but I'm a creature of habit. I am worried that now that they are together they may want to venture off alone," Rose confessed and my eyes widened in shock.

"I don't think that would be the worst thing in the world. You and Emmett go off all the time but always come back," I reminded her and she nodded.

"I just feel like there's change in the air. Don't you feel it?" As if on command the wind blew and my sister's blonde hair flew back. I closed my eyes and tried to pinpoint our future. I saw us all gathered together. I saw me Jasper and I recommitting to each other. I tried to look past my excitement to who was in attendance. I saw Edward standing behind him. I sped even future into the future and I saw a blurred figure which I identified as Leah. I could hear her screams and crying she was in pain. I saw us waiting frozen and paralyzed. I couldn't make sense of what was happening. I didn't see Edward. Where was he?

"Alice?" I heard Rosalie trying to bring me back into the present but the visions were all encompassing. One last image ran through my mind. The blurred vision became clearer. Leah came into focus she was wearing a long spaghetti strapped white dress with a white flower in her hair. She walked down an aisle towards Edward I gasped.

"ALICE?" Rose shook me out of my vision.

"Dammit!" I snapped.

"What did you see?" I couldn't believe she had nerve to ask after she did her best to break my focus.

"I saw glimpses into our future and all of it seemed to include our brother and his … Leah. I can't predict how far out things are from happening but it seems like good things are headed our way." We walked into the house and we saw long white candles lit along the house. I was taken by surprise as I saw everyone standing there so beautifully dressed. I looked back a Rose and she smiled at me and ushered me inside. Jasper wore his hair slicked back in a ponytail he walked toward me and gathered my hands in his.

"With all the commotion lately I do believe you've forgotten something very important," Jasper advised me. I looked at everyone around and I was aggravated I was so underdressed.

"Tomorrow is our anniversary Alice," Jasper reminded me. Oh my God in all the years we'd been together I've never forgotten. I felt horrible yet intrigued at the same time. "Tomorrow will be the same day that you told me it took me long enough to find you." He gave me that sweet enduring smirk. "I have arranged something special for tomorrow. Something I know you'll love. I just wanted to surprise you tonight with this and let you know that you and the rest of the ladies will be leaving for the rest of the night so we can prepare the house. Tomorrow I plan to marry you all over again … that is if you will have me?" I was shocked I was normally the putting together renewal ceremonies but I had yet to plan one for myself. So my sweet thoughtful husband put in all the work.

"Alice?"

"Oh of course Jasper! I just can't believe you've done all of this for me. I can't wait to recommit to you," I announced before planting a kiss dead on his lips. He gathered me in his arms and kissed me passionately in front of everyone.

"Good because it would've sucked if you'd said no after we planned everything!" Jasper and I parted and looked at Esme who had broken us out of our moment accidentally. She immediately looked apologetic.

"Now that you're back you have thirty minutes to get all your stuff and leave! Your check in time is at 11:00PM. It was the latest time they had and I wasn't expecting you and Rose to be gone that long." Jasper didn't miss the opportunity to give Rose the side eye.

"It's not easy swaying Alice to do anything, you know that," Rose said dryly.

"I should've asked Leah to with you two because she could've just hitched Leah over her shoulder and brought her home on time," Jasper snapped quietly.

"Don't bring me into this! Bickering doesn't seem like the most productive thing to do right now," Leah advised with her hands on her hips. Edward snickered as he looked at his girlfriend and back to me. He narrowed his eyes at me. He must've lifted something from me. I could only have imagined what he'd pulled. I went to do as my husband had instructed and back a bag but Edward stopped me.

"What the?" I didn't finish my statement before he asked me something I didn't quite understand.

Edward's POV

"What happens next?" I asked as my sister looked at me confused. I huffed and explained what I'd pulled from her subconscious. I was surprised that she could now see Leah. It made me question if at some point during in the future does Leah completely transform into a vampire or were Alice's powers simply evolving.

"I don't know Edward. Rose pulled me from my vision before I could finish it." I narrowed my eyes. "Hey don't look at me that way! If you want to be mad at someone, be mad a Rose, she's the one who broke me from my vision! Now move!" She side stepped me and I knew I had to let her go or else I'd have to deal with Jasper. I thought it was nice change of pace to be on the creative side of things as far as these "wedding" things we have. Normally I'm just handed a tux and told when and where to show up. I went to my room and watched my girlfriend whip around at lightning speed as she packed. After a few seconds she stopped and placed a small kiss on my lips and giggled.

"There are some advantages to this kind of speed. Packing is no longer a chore!" She waltzed over to the bed and picked up the duffel bag she'd filled. She looked into my eyes and she chuckled.

"Don't miss me too much lover," she teased and went to kiss me again.

"I'll show you lover," I murmured before I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her passionately. I heard as her duffel bag hit the floor. She rose her hand and caressed the side of my face. I moved her toward the bed and she pushed only hard enough to break our embrace.

"We don't have enough time. I don't want to be on Jasper's bad side. I don't want the deathly side glare," she chuckled and I laughed as well. Jasper was none too happy with Rose for messing up our timeline. I watched as Leah grabbed her bag and looked back at me. "Is it weird that I feel like leaving you is the hardest thing I've ever done?" She asked and I grinned a little.

"Aww baby come here," I opened my arms for her to hug me again and she just rolled her eyes. I knew she hated when I did things like that. Leah claimed to not like being babied but it was actions like this that let her know how I felt so I knew that deep down she reveled in them.

"No, Edward. I know logically I shouldn't be worried it's just one night but I have this odd feeling in the pit of my stomach. I don't know be safe tonight, okay?" I didn't like the concern in her eyes. I gave her a small side hug before escorting her downstairs.

"I just think it's because we're not usually apart at night. You'll miss me as much I'll miss you but its only one night." She nodded and joined the rest of the ladies of the house. Rose intertwined her arm with Leah's and the headed out into the night. After the car was loaded and descended down the driveway we all got to work on transforming the house and the backyard into Jasper's vision of what Alice wanted. As we all worked the other's talked about how whipped Jasper was for doing something like this.

"Call it what you wish but this is a battle tactic of sorts. Whenever my lovely gets mad she'll remember this romantic thing I did and her anger will evaporate. Hell, I may even get a little action from it," he chuckled. It was rare that we were all alone but this was the best time to talk candidly about those sorts of things.

"Rose doesn't need a reason. The wind could blow in my direction and she would want me. It all depends on her mood at the time and normally her mood is generally in my favor," Emmett grinned salaciously. I chuckled. Both men looked at me and I was alarmed they should've known I wasn't going to participate in this conversation.

"Volunteering information is okay but expect anything from anyone," Carlisle advised and I nodded to him my appreciation.

"He really doesn't have to say anything! Leah is generally … she has a healthy sexual appetite. I try not to hone in on her emotions too much when you are around because I have the tendency to adopt her emotions and I can't seem to get to Alice quick enough," Jasper teased and I hunched my shoulders. After giving it some thought it seemed there really hadn't been a night where Leah and I hadn't had sex … except for tonight and I wasn't over the moon about that.

"It's just one night," I murmured and the others looked at me.

"I take it back Jasper, you're not the one who's whipped. That title goes to good old Edo," Emmett wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "I'm sure we'll be doing this all again soon. Hopefully I won't have decorate though it's not really my forte." Emmett looked at the ribbon with massive confusion on his face. Carlisle grabbed the ribbon and the conversation was transformed into something a little more tasteful.

"I remember the first time I laid eyes on Esme," Carlisle started the tale that I've heard too many times. Each time I enjoyed it more. Esme and Carlisle were the reason I knew true love existed even for being with cold hearts like us.
