I'M SO SORRY FOR BEING GONE FOR SO LONG!
These last two weeks have been hell, but I'm dealing.
Sort of.
So as a treat, I am forfeiting my social life tonight to give you this chapter, one you all deserve for not finding where I live and burning my house down.
I hate promising updates on certain days and then having to break that promise.
One today and one Sunday, I SWEAR.
Please forgive me and please enjoy.
She watched as Marcus left the driveway, the intensity of their kiss still burning on her lips. She closed the door and headed up the stairs to grab a shower before getting dressed and going over to Caroline's. Everything inside of her was telling her she needed to shove a stake through her heart, but she couldn't. She didn't want to believe that her best friend had been turned into a vampire. She whimpered slightly at the thought of losing Caroline as she washed up. she sighed as she let the water cascade over her shoulders. She closed her eyes and smiled softly at the warmth. She had a great time with Marcus last night, just talking and being close with him.
She shut the water off and dried off before wrapping the towel around her and heading towards her room, relieved to see that she had remembered to bring her bag's in before she went to go see Matt yesterday. She pulled out a pair of dark washed jeans, a grey cotton long sleeve and a dark purple vest. She got dressed before pulling on socks and her Converse and traveled downstairs where she heard multiple voices in the kitchen.
"Hope, I didn't know you were here." Her dad said, setting his coffee mug down. She nodded at him and looked at the Salvatore brothers as they leaned against the edge of the counter. They seemed tense. She didn't say a word to either of them as she grabbed the kettle and filled it up with water. She set it on the stove and began to boil it when Damon spoke.
"Does she know, Jon?" She whirled around. Was he talking about Elena and her being sisters or something else? What else could her dad be keeping from her?
"No, Damon, shut up." Her dad seethed from his chair.
"What are you keeping from me this time, father dearest?" She asked as she took the kettle of the stove and poured it into a mug she had already filled with milk, two teaspoons of sugar and a tea bag. She stirred the liquid slowly and took a sip.
"Nothing, Damon is an idiot." She watched as Damon flashed towards her father and grabbed his throat. In an instant, Damon was brought to his knees, bringing his hands up to his head and groaning in agony. She took a sip of her tea and released him from her hold.
"Vampires. Great, just what I needed." She grumbled as she watched the two brothers size her up. Damon made a move for her but with a flick of her wrist he was pinned against the wall.
"A witch? Jon, really, you didn't just have to have a doppelganger daughter but a witch?" He choked. She let him go and set her mug down.
"Elena's a doppelganger?" Stefan was the one to speak.
"What do you know about doppelgangers?" He asked, his hands behind his back. She looked at him warily, her shoulders squared and her feet spread slightly apart. She looked like she was ready to fight, and Stefan sighed.
"I promise that I, nor my brother, will try to hurt you. I'm sorry you had to figure out about us like this, but we're pressed for time. A vampire named Klaus-" The mug dropped from her hands.
"Klaus, one of the Original vampires?" Stefan nodded. She shook her head and used the counter to hold her up. Everything she knew about the Original Hybrid ran through her mind, along with the curse...and the ritual in which he would use to break it.
"Oh, God, no." Stefan took her by the elbow and led her to a kitchen chair. Her dad laid a hand on her shoulder and squeezed it softly. She rubbed her forehead, then pinched the bridge of her nose.
"When is he coming?"
"Well, he's already here so if you have some useful information that would be great." Damon snapped as he watched her try to keep her composure. She obviously knew who Klaus was, what he needed, and what he was like. He wondered how, though.
"Watch it, Damon." her father nearly growled. She squeezed her dad's hand on her shoulder and got up from the chair. She began to pace, her hands wringing in front of her.
"I know everything about Klaus. I know about the curse, the false curse, the whole Original family, how they died, how he tried to use Katerina Petrova as the doppelganger sacrifice in the 16th century, and how he needs to break the curse. Only one question I have for you three: how are we saving Elena?
Crickets.
"Your lack of explanation leads me to believe you haven't worked that out yet. Tonight's the full moon." She told them. Damon scoffed and pushed off the counter.
"We know that. We have a plan." He left the house then, Stefan following him. Her father turned towards her, a frown on his face.
"How did you know all that?" She shrugged and raised a hand, using her magic to clean up the spilled tea and shards of porcelain from her mug.
"Well, Lucas has many grimoires at his place and I was bored. That tends to happen when you don't leave your house for eight damn months." She grumbled as she turned away from him. She still had to see Caroline.
"I'm sorry, Hope. I didn't know how to tell you." He said. She tensed and turned around. She didn't think she could handle talking about that after learning about the arrival of Klaus in Mystic Falls.
"Dad, I can't-"
"Let me explain. I tried, many times, to tell you both but so many things kept getting in the way, and I just didn't know how to tell you. There's something else you need to know." She waited.
"You're mom's cousin Isobel is Elena's biological mother." She stiffened up and blinked a few times.
"Excuse me?"
"Hope, I know-"
"Jon, you're sick." She turned to leave but he grabbed the tops of her arms.
"Isobel's family is from the Petrova line. You're sister is a Petrova doppelganger. Do you even remember that prophecy? A necromancer with blood lines stronger than magic? Hope, please you have to listen to me-"
"I don't have to listen to anything anymore. Stay away from me." She grabbed her keys and wrenched herself away from her father as she jogged out of the house and to her car. She cranked the key and pulled away from the house, her tires screeching as she fishtailed for a few seconds before racing down the street. Her knuckles were white as she held onto the steering wheel, her mental wall slipping just from the amount of information she had learned this morning.
"Damn it." She muttered. She said it again, louder as she banged the steering wheel. "Damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it!" She screamed as she banged the steering wheel harder. She took deep breaths and turned down Caroline's street. She stopped abruptly, her body straining against the seat belt as it locked. She got out and slammed the door before jogging up the sidewalk and her front porch. She knocked twice, then rang the doorbell after a few minutes, and then called Caroline. No answer.
"Damn it." She muttered as she left the porch, her phone still to her ear as she called her sister.
"Elena, were you ever going to tell me that you were going to be used as a sacrifice? Or were you just going to let me think that you had gone on vacation for the rest of our lives."She growled as she got back into the car. She titled her back, resting it, as she squeezed her eyes closed and waited for Elena's response.
"Damon told you." Hope barked out a laugh, hating how bitter it sounded.
"Yeah, he might have mentioned it. Elena, where are you? Klaus is one bad dude you do not want to mess with, but we'll figure out something. I may have a little something to throw into the mix."
"How? Hope, I don't-"
"Just tell me where you are." She stated as she started her car. she had a feeling she was at the Salvatore Boarding House.
"The Salvatore Boarding House." She murmured. Hope hung up and raced towards the outside of town where the mansion loomed like a bad omen. The sun shined on the house, but she still couldn't shake the shiver that had crawled up her spine. She parked and walked up the front steps. Elena opened the door before she could knock, her big brown eyes begging for forgiveness. Hope caved instantly.
"Please hug me before I start crying." She joked. Elena wrapped her arms around her middle and sighed. She couldn't believe that she had a sister, Hope as a sister, and she really wouldn't ever have it any other way. She remembered hoping when they were little that they would one day find out they were actually sisters. She never thought it could be a real possibility.
"Hope I'm so sorry." Hope pulled away and smiled a small, sad smile.
"I know, and I shouldn't have acted like that. I'm not the same as I used to be, and well, I don't know. I'm sorry too Ellie." Hope's eyes started to tingle, and she knew she was going to start crying. She laughed and followed Elena into the house, not being able to help as her eyes roamed the hallway and then the large living room to her left.
"Yeah, it's a lot." Elena whispered to her as she was met with all of her friends minus Matt and Caroline, including her dad and a wonderfully handsome man dressed in an elegant dark brown suit.
"Hi." Hope said awkwardly.
"Okay, can we cut with the dramatics? We have an actual problem here." Damon snapped, and Hope rolled her eyes at him. She was not impressed so far with the elder Salvatore brother, and every time he opened his mouth to speak she wanted to rip his tongue out.
"Everyone, I would like to introduce you to our other residential witch, Hope Gilbert." He said, smirking before he took a drink of a dark amber liquid in a crystal glass. There were many gasps, to which Hope rolled her eyes again, as she plopped down in one of the expensive looking armchairs.
"Actually, I'm a necromancer."
