Hope sighed as she closed yet another grimiore. She was starting to feel hopeless as she watched her friends and Jon search for something to help Elena. She was just about to say how useless these old books were when Jeremy got up and walked over to Bonnie, showing him something he found in the book he was holding.

"What did you find?" She asked, rising up from the ground and wiping the back of her pants off. Jeremy and Bonnie shared a look before Jeremy walked over to Jon. Hope raised an eyebrow and walked over to Bonnie.

"Did he find something?" Bonnie bit her lip and nodded. Hope took a sigh of relief, relaxed, and then started walking towards Jon and Jeremy.

"Hope, there's-"

"I'll do it." Jon spoke up, cutting Bonnie off. He looked up into Hope's eyes, his expression stony and his mouth set in a grim line. She did not like the queasy feeling that had settled into her stomach, nestling down and making its home there.

"What are you going to do?" She asked. No one was telling her anything, and it was pissing her off.

"Jon, are you sure?" Jeremy asked, and while Jon looked back at Hope, he nodded once.

"Dad, what's going on?" All bad feelings toward her father melted from her as he kissed her forehead before sitting down in a chair. Bonnie's eyes slid over to her, and before she knew it, her walls were being tampered with.

"What the hell?" She threw them back up, but not fast enough. The witches' voices swooped down on her and it took everything in her to keep the shields high enough for her to get out of the house. She stumbled up the stairs and Elijah and Damon before collapsing out into the grass. The voices were immediately quiet.

"What the hell was that?" She wondered out loud and attempted to reenter the house, but the voices were upon her immediately. She quickly turned away from the house and towards her car, suspicion worming its way into her mind. Why had the dead witches all of a sudden been able to talk to her? Had Bonnie tampered with her shields?

"No, Bonnie wouldn't do that!" She answered her own question out loud as she leaned against the hood of her Impala. She absentmindedly traces runes out on the car, for protection, when Damon exited the house. He strolled over to her, hands in his pockets, his eyes looking everywhere but her. When he finally did look her in the eye, she saw a flash of pity, and she did not like it.

"What?" Damon shook his head.

"Do you want to go for a walk in the woods with me?" She raised her eyebrow at the question. She didn't have a stake on her, but she was pretty sure she could give him an aneurysm that would leave his mind ringing for weeks.

"Sure." She was skeptical, but Damon didn't seem like he was in a killing mood, but that made her even more alert. They walked next to each other for quite a while before Damon attempted to talk to her.

"So, Hope, there's something-" But he stopped talking and tilted his head, as if listening for something. Without asking, Damon grabbed her up and vampire sped out of there. She pushed at his chest, but they hadn't even been moving for a while minute before Damon put her down and he raced somewhere behind her. She turned around and saw Damon flash toward a tall, broad man with brown hair. The man held out a hand and threw Damon into a tree. Hope flicked her wrist and the man flew up and then crashed back into the ground. He groaned as he rolled over and got back up. Hope snapped her fingers and a ball of blue flames appeared in the palm of her hand. The man's eyes grew bigger as she threw it...straight into a shield.

"Fight me like a real witch." She hissed threw her teeth as she threw fireball after fireball at him. He ducked down as the shield broke and the flame nearly got the spiked tip of his bangs. He rolled back up, but before he could cast a spell back at her, Hope heard a familiar voice.

"Hope, get down!" As if on instinct, her body dropped to forest floor as she heard a loud gunshot. The man fell to his knees, red blossoming from the wound. Damon flashed behind the man and snapped his neck. The man's body sagged to the ground and Damon started to descend stone steps that had gone unnoticed by Hope until just now. She raised an eyebrow and was about to start heading down the stairs herself when a blond head poked up, her crystal clear blue eyes surveying her surroundings.

Caroline looked as if she had been down there for days. Her hair was messy and matted with blood in the back, and her clothes were torn. She looked exhausted, and miserable, but she perked up a bit when she saw Hope.

Hope ran forward and helped her up, even though she knew Caroline didn't need it, and hugged her once she was sure that she was okay. Caroline tensed but then relaxed and hugged Hope back.

"I thought you hated me." Caroline whispered, so low as to make sure that Hope was the only one that heard her.

"I could never." Hope whispered back fiercely. Caroline's eyes pricked with tears at that and pulled away. There were tears in Hope's eyes as well.

"I hate to interrupt your little moment, but we have more pressing matters to attend to." His eyes slid over to Tyler, who looked like he was suffering the flu. He was sweating, and his eyes were closed as if in concentration. He was hunched over, and that was when Hope heard the snapping of his bones. He lifted his head and up and Hope saw the amber glint.

"Run!" She yelled, throwing Caroline behind her as she backed away slowly and then sprinted for whatever protection that they would be able to find. She looked back around to see Tyler following them, gaining on them with his supernatural speed.

But Damon was quicker. He tackled Tyler and the two supernaturals wrestled in the leaves. I didn't stay to watch as Caroline grabbed me and Matt and sped us to Tyler's house, ahem, mansion.
