Anguish colored a pale complexion as amethyst orbs stared at a building being demolished. "How dare they..." Was hissed out as clawed fingers twitched with the need to tear into flesh. "They have no right!"
The hissing tone and deep growls coming from is brother had Creven looking up from his meal. "...?" Licking the blood from his lips, the young blonde went to Josh's side, gazing over to their old home. Cerulean pools widened in shock and rage as a growl tore from his throat.
Large machines, that he wasn't sure what the names were for them, were tearing into their home. Blue swirled to red as the fox-child's nose wrinkled with a snarl. He bolted, fangs baring as he roared his fury. He didn't hear what Josh said to him, deafened by his rage. Claws dug into rain-softened soil as Creven slid downhill, leaping off the foot of the hill on to flat ground before in a burst of speed, he was back on track to the construction site. As he neared the area, the blonde lunged at one of the workers and buried his teeth into fragile flesh.
Josh frowned softly, watching his brother take off down the hill. "Creven..." He whispered out softly, starting down the slope. He knew how the other felt, he couldn't blame his brother for going on a rampage. How dare these humans think they had the right to destroy their home? Amethyst hues narrowed as some humans tried to hurt his precious brother. In a flash, his fangs punctured a neck and injected deadly venom into the man's bloodstream. Draining a good amount of blood, Josh dropped the body before he grabbed his brother protectively. "How dare you try and hurt my brother?"
The humans were so... Pathetic. Fragile. Honestly, it made him embarrassed to have once called himself human.
Creven snarled, glowering darkly at the construction workers. "I want to slaughter them..."
"You sound so angry." Josh noted with some amusement, his own face twisted into a snarl. "You want to?"
"Yes! Let me punish them!" Struggling in his brother's embrace, the fox-child hissed and gave each human their own personal glare.
The expressions of horror that paled the humans' faces were magnificent.
When did I become so sadistic?
Josh blamed it on his vampiric nature, and the fact these men pissed him off. "Go ahead..." He snarled out, loosening his arms and releasing the violent blonde, amethyst pools narrowing.
The vampire watched the massacre, snagging a worker and draining him dry. He dropped the body, watching it crumble into dust with a dull expression. He frowned softly, the screams and cries of pain circling in the air made something deep inside Josh grow warm.
How concerning.
As the slaughter ended, Creven sat in the middle of his ruined home. Blood spotted his skin and clothes, even streaked his hair. "It's gone..." He said softly, eyes drooping sadly.
Feeling his dead heart clench at those sadly spoken words, Josh walked over to his brother. "Maybe now... We can move on..."
All those years of lingering, like an Earth-bound ghost, maybe now they would be able to leave. Even when they said they would find a new home, something about this place just couldn't let the two brothers leave.
"But..."
"No 'but's'. Do you think they would want us to haunt this town like sniveling ghosts?"
Looking to his brother with a light pout, he shook his head. "No..."
"No." Josh repeated with a nod. "Now, let's leave."
"Where will we go?"
Bending down to scoop his brother in his arms, the vampire smiled encouragingly. "Anywhere we want to."
"Okay." Creven purred out and curled into a cold embrace. He glanced over his brother's shoulder, eyes drooping sadly as his brother started to walk away from their ruined home. It grew smaller and smaller until the blonde boy couldn't even see the trees that surrounded his old home.
"Why don't you rest? You haven't slept in awhile."
"I'm okay..." Was mumbled out softly, a tan face going just a tad pale at the mention of sleep. He had such sad dreams and horrible nightmares, he didn't want to sleep.
Frowning in worry, Josh glanced down at his brother before starting to run, not wanting to be seen by civilization. "If you say so..."
Creven wasn't a vampire, he still needed sleep. It was very evident the boy wasn't human, he didn't age and would transform into a strange creature if there was vampire venom in his veins. Even his own venom didn't make the boy crumble into dust like it should. Not to mention each time he reverted back from a transformation, he looked a little less human. The vampire subtly gazed down to see the boy's elfish ears, eyes following the length. He had to guess they were about three or four inches from the lobe to the point.
Maybe he is an elf?
Josh was very curious about what exactly his little brother was. Maybe him transforming in a five-tailed fox creature was a hint, but the brunette wasn't sure what that hint was. He knew he wouldn't get any answers from thinking about it too much, and asking Creven didn't even help. The boy knew nothing about himself, and even suffered from amnesia. He couldn't remember anything before he meet Josh and his family. Well, he couldn't remember anything but pain and hunger.

Months later, Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
XxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxX
The sun. A great, big, burning, ball of fire in the sky. Mothers always told their children to not look at the sun; It'll make you go blind. But the sun was the only thing Emmett Cullen could stare at without hatred these days. The sun was bright and warm, gave everything its caring light.
"He must have been born from the sun..."
Turning his head, the vampire gazed at the trees surrounding the small clearing before slowly rising to his feet. Emmett wandered over to the trees, his expression pinching in pain. Following a faded trail, he came upon a scarred circle of land, blackened and burned in a way only fire could do. He wondered why it still looked like a fresh fire even after all these years...
Memories flooded his thoughts as topaz orbs closed.
*~* Gatlinburg, Tennessee, 1806. *~*
Emmett didn't even register the three strange people leaving through a tree; If he did he would most definitely comment on it. Dulled blue eyes gazed at the blackened body that was once his precious angel. It was like devils had taken his beloved to torture him in Hell Fire. The smell long stopped bothering him, his senses dulling as reality set in more and more.
"Naruto..." He choked out, moving closer as he reached a trembling hand out. He wanted to hold him, but he was afraid that even a touch would make the charred body crumble.
A deep growl made the brute twitch, slowly looking over his shoulder to see a large grizzly staring at him. Attracted by the scent of burning flesh, the bear was ready to fight the brunette for a meal, or possibly make a meal out of Emmett himself.
"I hope you're not thinking what I think you're thinking..."
With a roar, the bear lunged as it aimed its deadly claws for the young man.
Wrestling with a grizzly was definitely not as easy as wrestling with his brothers. The claws and teeth were sharp and hurt like hell as they ripped his skin apart. Blood splattered the dirt as deep claw marks decorated the ground. Adrenaline pumped through his veins as he fought to protect his beloved's corpse, even biting the bear on the ears and tearing chunks of fur out. Emmett poked it in the eyes, punched its throat, kicked at its belly, anything to try and get the bear to leave. With a roar of his own, the brute slammed his hands to the sides of the bear's head, gripped handfuls of fur, and yanked as hard as he could. A sickening snap finally had the grizzly falling in a heap.
Panting, the young man dragged his bleeding body to the charred corpse of his angel. A shaky and strained smile lifted his lips as a bloody hand reached for his lover before dropping in the dirt inches from the once beautiful face. His eyes drooped as the edges of his vision started to blur and fade to black, his chin dropping down to the dirt as well. Emmett could already see the smiling face with those cute whisker marks and those brilliant, sparkling jewels for eyes.
"I'll be with you soon..."
Warm blood pooled around his body as it trickled from his wounds, pulling the warmth of his body out with it as a chill started to settle in. Blue hues dulled a shade more with each ounce that left his body, consciousness slipping from between his fingers willingly as he welcomed death.
But death never came.
Pain suddenly ignited in his body and spread like wildfire, searing his insides. It felt like liquid fire was pumped through his veins with each rapid beat of his heart, lungs burning as he gasped for air after each scream of horrible, agonizing pain.
"Will he be okay...?" A feminine voice questioned, golden eyes watching the man she just saved writhe around as she peered through a one-way mirror.
"Yes, don't worry, Rosalie." Came a gentle voice of a man. "He'll be fine once the venom is done."
Rosalie nodded, lips pressing into a thin line. "He was attacked by a grizzly bear... And he killed it..."
Looking to the woman, honey-colored hues blinked in surprise. "Well... He must have a strong will to live..." He said, a small smile curling his lips. "That's good, that should give him a better chance..."
Chance...? Chance of what? What the hell?
Emmett was confused by the voices he heard, he couldn't see anyone in the room he was in. He barely even registered the room, but he knew there weren't any people near him. So how come he heard voices?
I must be going crazy.
As the pain continued for hours and hours, Emmett was sure he would go crazy. He wasn't sure how long it lasted, but it finally stopped and he wanted to cry from the phantom feelings of liquid fire licking at his nerves. He would never wish that on his worst enemy, now he knew why Naruto chose death. Twitching, he covered his nose and curled into himself as his ears rang with sounds he wasn't sure what they were, but he was sure of them being awfully loud.
"Carlisle! He's awake!"
Cringing from the shouting voice, an annoyed snarl vibrated around in his dry throat.
Who the hell is Carlisle...?
"Good, right on time. Let's go welcome him then, yeah?"
Black eyes slid over to the door of the small room, watching it open. Emmett narrowed his eyes at the four vampires that greeted him, a growl vibrating in his chest this time.
"It's okay," Carlisle smiled kindly. "Don't be afraid, we're not going to hurt you."
A pale lip curled over newly sharpened fangs as his growl intensified. "How dare you..."
The shock barely had time to color their expressions until the New Born was on them. Something deep inside him didn't allow Emmett to aim his fury at the man who spoke first, so instead he curled his hands around a woman's throat.
"Rosalie!" A bronze haired vampire yelled in shock before grabbing the New Born's shoulders, trying to rip him off his sister. He hissed, using all his strength against Emmett.
Carlisle and Esme joined, the three of them barely being able to pull the enraged New Born off Rosalie. Throwing him across the room, Carlisle stood in front of his Coven protectively, frowning in worry and concern as he gazed the brute.
"What the hell is your problem?!" Rosalie yelled out, rubbing at her throat as she glared at Emmett. "We saved your life!"
"No!" Emmett snarled out, glowering back at them. "Saved my life?! I'd rather be fucking dead than be this!" Legs shaking as he stood back up, coals burning with animosity as he glared at the Coven, the brunette bared his fangs at them once more. "I did not ask you to turn me into a devil!"
Carlisle frowned more at the violent reaction. "I'm sorry you feel that way." He said softly. "My daughter found you half dead and brought you to me. She begged me to turn you to save your life, and I did. You are now part of this family, though if you wish to leave then you may."
Edward gazed at the newest member of their Coven, frowning softly. "Who...?" He asked softly, wincing a bit at the rather loud thoughts. "Who did we take you away from...?"
Pinning Edward with a heated gaze, Emmett twitched and snarled. "What? What the hell?"
"Ah, Edward here can read minds." Carlisle smiled gently, hoping the New Born was calming down.
"Get the fuck out of my head!" Eyes widening, he took a step forward as if to lunge at the telepathic vampire. "Don't you dare look at my thoughts!" Emmett hissed lightly before taking a deep breath. He twitched at the strange feeling of breathing that shouldn't feel strange. A song his mother always sang was repeated in his head, drowning out all his other thoughts. "Tch..."
"Wait, did you say he could leave?" Rosalie asked with a small frown.
"Yes, if that is what he wishes to do." Carlisle said and looked to his daughter.
"No! He can't leave! I brought him here so he could be with us, so he could be with me!" After being rejected by Edward, Rosalie had been a bit depressed. But she fell in love with Emmett when she first saw him, and when she saw that he had killed a grizzly. Such a strong man...
Leveling the she-vampire with a disgusted glare, Emmett snarled, "I will never be with such a vile devil."
He didn't even feel bad as Rosalie's expression became offended. "Excuse me?!"
"Killing innocent people... Drinking their blood like a disgusting leech."
"Actually, we don't feed from humans." Carlisle said softly, a sad smile on his face. "We feed off animal blood."
Emmett frowned deeply at the Sire of the Coven. "Is that supposed to make me feel better?"
Edward's expression twisted to anger. "You don't have to be such a jerk."
"It's okay, Edward." Smiling gently at the bronze haired vampire, Carlisle gazed back at his newest son with a placating expression.
Emmett scoffed softly, glaring at Edward. He didn't care if he was being a jerk, he was pissed off and just disgusted. Lips parting, he was going to say something until his teeth clicked together when the Sire called for his attention again.
"So, what's your name?"
"... Emmett McCarty."
"Well, Emmett, why don't you stick around for a few days, see how we live, and then make a decision on if you want to stay with us, or leave."
The New Born thought for a moment before giving a stiff nod. "Alright... As long as you don't feed from humans."
Chuckling softly, Carlisle couldn't help but smile fondly. He was glad Emmett seemed very against drinking human blood. "I do hope you will become part of the family."
*~*Real Time*~*
Emmett took a deep sigh, the air burning his lungs mockingly. "I wish I was with you..." He whispered out as he gazed at the scarred ground. "I didn't even get to bury you..." A twitch went through his body as he tried not to think about what happened to his beloved's body.
Shaking those thoughts from his head, the burly vampire glanced back to the sun, allowing a miniscule of a smile to quirk his lips up.
At least he's with me one way...
With his week of mourning coming to an end, Emmett rolled his shoulders before smacking his hands to his cheeks. "Time to be happy!"
Crouching down, the handsome vampire took off from the field.
"I love you, Naruto..." Lingered in the air even after Emmett was nowhere near the field.
The run back to Forks was rejuvenating, his usual energy and infectious happiness twinkling in his eyes.
Opening the front door of his home, he called out, "I'm home!" Sensing all his family members in the living room wasn't entirely a good thing. Neither was walking into the room to such grave expressions. Molten golden pools blinked at everyone, an awkward smile gracing Emmett's face. "Who died?"
"A few of your classmates... Actually..." Carlisle said softly. "It happened while you were away, a number of people have been killed."
A deep frown replaced the awkward smile, a slight wince twitching through him. "Oh... Is it a New Born...?" Forks was apparently known for their bad luck with New Born vampires.
"We're not sure. Each body is a pile of ash when the police find them. It could very well be a mass murderer just wanting to cover his tracks. I've never heard of a vampire burning its victims after feeding." Carlisle sighed, rubbing at his temples lightly as his eyes fell closed. The gentle pat from Esme did little to ease him, but he welcomed it with a gentle smile to her.
"It could probably be covering up its tracks as a vampire... Though if it is, it's most likely not a New Born. Also... It's sort of thoughtful if it is a vampire burning the bodies..." Jasper spoke up softly, a sheepish expression playing at the edges of his face.
"Thoughtful? For who?" Rosalie sneered, giving Jasper her ever-present glare.
"Vampires, as a race. No body, no evidence." Alice said, patting her husband's hand gently. "He does have a point. But still, if it is a vampire then we have to do something about it."
"Or else the mutts will be on our backs." Edward grumbled out softly, expression pinching with annoyance.
"Alice, you haven't Seen anything yet?"
Shaking her head, the pixie-like vampire sighed a bit. "No... But I'll keep my mind open!"
"Good." Carlisle smiled at his Coven. "Oh, we forgot to welcome you back." He said, blinking over to Emmett.
Chuckling, a large hand was waved dismissively. "Don't worry about it, my feelings aren't hurt." Walking over to his Mother, he gave the woman a gentle hug. "You guys said there's been a number of killings; How many to be exact?"
"Well... So far, 27. Of course there could be more... No one knows the exact number since there aren't any bodies, it's just how many have been identified so far. Apparently the police are having every spec of ash being analyzed to make sure there aren't more."
"27? Ouch..." Emmett winced, frowning as he rubbed the back of his neck lightly. "Well, we can't worry about it too much! I'm sure Alice will have a vision soon and we'll catch the asshole!" He grinned widely, wanting to elevate the mood a bit. "We've got school soon, yeah? We can't go in all mopey and depressed!"
Smiles were exchanged all around the living room, each vampire sharing the same thought;
He's back.
Emmett was obviously the center of their morale, and without him it was hard for even Jasper to raise everyone's spirits.
Jumping up from her seat, Alice laughed as hopped on her older brother's back. "He's right! We'll worry Bella if we all go in with sad faces!"
Rosalie scowled at the mention of the human's name, arms crossing. "Who cares if she worries?"
Edward gave his sister a sharp glare. "Don't start that, Rose."
"Humph."
"Now, now, ladies, don't get into a cat fight!" Emmett laughed out, grinning at the two.
"Oh, oh! I've been watching the weather report, and there's supposed to be a thunder storm in a day or two!" Alice piped up, arms circled around Emmett's neck as she hung off him.
"Yeah?" Emmett asked and then gave a snarky grin to his elder brother. "This time I'm gunna kick yer ass, Eddy!"
A bit disgruntled at the nickname, Edward blinked before scoffing lightly and giving a playful smirk. "I doubt that, M&M."
The expression that swirled on to the burly vampire's face was priceless, throwing the family into chuckles and laughter. He was both confused and slightly offended to be called a piece of candy. "... Eh?"
The bronze haired vampire gave a shrug. "Your name has two m's in it, so, yeah. M&M." Crossing his arms, Edward upturned his nose to the air with a haughty sniff.
Carlisle and Esme shared smiles, watching their children. He gently pulled the woman into his lap and held her, giving her forehead a soft kiss as his eyes sparkled. The Sire was very happy Emmett was back, the week over and behind him for another year. He just hoped next year would be better... Or at least Emmett would finally open up to them and tell them what it was.
Still though, it was refreshing to watch the younger vampires bicker like the siblings they said they were.
They're still such children.

Jacob Black was confused. It wasn't everyday that he was confused, but today he really was. Staring into the amethyst eyes of a damned blood-sucker―When the hell did they have purple eyes?―, Jacob frowned deeply. "So... I guess you're the one who's been killing these people?"
"And if I am?"
Smug bastard.
"Well, if you are, then I'll have to kill you." Eyes momentarily straying over to a pile of ashes, the wolf's confusion rose.
Since when could vampires turn people to ash...?
Josh snorted lightly, frowning at the wolf. He stunk... How come he smelt so bad? It burned his nose. "I'd like to see you try."
"Well, it's your lucky da―?!" Not being able to finish his sentence, Jacob grunted as he slammed into a tree. "Motherfucker..." He growled before his clothes shredded off his body.
Standing tall as a wolf, he lunged for the vampire, snarling loudly. Right before his fangs reached the blood-sucker, he was slammed into once more. Groaning, Jacob looked over at what hit him, only to become confused once more.
What the fuck is that thing?!
"Creven!" Josh's eyes widened when he saw his little brother in his fox form. "Shit! Not again!" He snarled out, rushing over. He should never have let that damned asshole join them! He skid to a stop when a sixth tail sprouted to join the other five lashing behind the boy. "What...? Six...?"
White eyes glared at the wolf, mouth cracking open as Creven gave a shrieking roar. Claws dug into the ground as he stalked forward, vision blurring at the edges from the pain rampaging through his body. Large fox ears twitched when he heard Josh's voice, glancing at the vampire. Hissing at him, Creven's ears pulled back on his head as his tails lashed out.
What a greedy Kitling you are. Taking another tail's worth. Oh? Have you forgotten his face? It's about time. I remember when it barely took three tails for you to forget yourself. Heh.
Jacob eyed the strange creature, his hackles rising and fur bristling. There was something about this creature... Sniffing at it, he growled softly and then glanced at the vampire. Were they working together?
"Creven...? What's wrong?" Josh asked softly, smiling a bit shakily at the fox-child.
Snarling at the vampire, Creven lunged for him. Claws aimed for the throat, he yelped softly when he was deflected quite easily, rolling on the ground a bit before shaking his head out. Hissing once more, his ears gave a light twitch. The fox didn't want to get bitten again, he was already pumped full of a lot of venom, more than usual, his body aching from the battle raging within. He didn't even want to eat, he just wanted to hide.
"No! Creven!" Josh snarled as the wolf pounced on his little brother, rushing over and throwing the large animal off. "Don't fucking touch him!"
Jacob growled, ears pinning back to his head as his tail lifted in aggression. What the hell? So these two really were working together? But why was this strange creature attacking the vampire?
Seeing his chance, Creven took off. At least, he tried to, only to yelp and yowl in pain as sharp teeth clamped down on one of his tails. Claws swiping at the wolf's face, he roared at Jacob and slashed more at him as he tried to get him to release his tail.
"Tch!" Josh's face twisted in a scowling snarl as the wolf bit his brother. It was the perfect chance though... He couldn't risk Creven getting lose in the city. So, the vampire quickly grabbed his brother by the chin and yanked his head to the side, exposing Creven's neck. Sinking his fangs into his brother, he quickly sucked out the venom. It tasted horrible. But the rich taste of Creven's blood made up for the awful burn of the venom.
Jacob blinked, brows furrowing as he kept his hold on the tail. Even as his face bled from the claw marks, he held fast. Even as his shock and confusion whirled around in his head and made him a bit dizzy, he kept the tail in his mouth. Jacob only release the tail when it started to disappear, pulling back into the creature's body.
Okay... What the actual fuck?
A deep growl sounded in dingy sewers, crimson pools narrowing. We were just starting to have fun. I should have the Kitling kill you next time, vampire.
As the venom left his system, Creven reverted back to his usual self, giving a deep, groaning whine as his body twitched.
Cradling his aching brother, Josh gazed down at the pale face. The whisker marks on his cheeks seemed bolder... Looking to the elfish ears, he reached out and gently ran a finger tip along the length. They were a bit longer... Not much, but enough for him to notice. He sighed softly before placing a tender kiss on a sweaty forehead, petting over his blonde hair. "Shh, shh... It's okay now... Sleep..." Josh glanced at the shocked wolf, nose wrinkling a bit. "..." He'd have to explain, wouldn't he?
Staring at the two, Jacob growled lowly, giving the vampire a pointed look. He wanted to know what the fuck was going on, and he was going to get some damn answers.
The vampire snorted lightly. "Alright, fine. I'll answer all of your questions if you take me somewhere my brother can rest."
Brother...? They're fucking related? What the hell? So what is that kid? He a vampire too?
Jacob knew there were vampires with strange powers, hell there were some in his backyard, but still. Was this some kind of vampiric power? But vampire's didn't have blood... Right...?
With a nod, Jacob turned and padded over to a tree. He transformed back, climbing the tree to get a hidden bag full of clothes.
"Why the hell are you naked?"
"Shaddup!" Jacob grunted as he landed back down, starting to pull on the jeans and shirt. He slipped his feet into some boots and then huffed, glaring at the vampire. "Alright... Follow me."
The walk back to his house was very awkward and tense. The vampire didn't say a word, and Jacob wasn't sure what to say. He couldn't really just strike up a conversation, now, could he? He groaned internally, wanting to bang his head to a tree. His father was going to be pissed off when he brought a vampire home...
I think I'm getting a headache...
Once back at his home, he paused, looking to the two. "Okay... Don't make a mistake, if you attack anyone then I'm going to kill you."
Scoffing, Josh gave the wolf an annoyed expression. "Would you hurry up? I won't attack anyone!"
"Alright, jeez..." Jacob grumbled, opening his front door and stepping inside. "Pops! We got, uh, company."
"Company...? Is it the Cullen's." Came a gruff voice from deeper in the house.
"Nope. It's, uhhh..." Looking back to the vampire, he blinked.
"Josh."
"It's Josh."
Billy frowned. He didn't know any Josh... Rolling out of his study, he looked over to his son and their guest, frowning deeply. "...?" Leveling his son with a stern expression, Billy's ears narrowed a bit. "Jacob..."
"Yeah, yeah. He's a vampire, the kid is... I don't know what the kid is, but yeah." Jacob ran a hand through his short hair, sighing deeply.
Josh walked to the couch and sat down, laying his brother on the cushion next to him and laying his head down on his lap to use for a pillow. "Don't talk so loud..." He said softly, throwing the blanket draped across the back of the couch over his brother, covering his nakedness. "And go get him some clothes."
"Okay, what the hell? Why're you bossing me around?" Jacob growled out lightly, eye twitching.
Josh bared his fangs. "Just go, and get a long-sleeved shirt with a high collar."
"I don't own anything like that..." The young teen blinked, wondering what the hell was going on.
"Just go!"
"Okay, okay! Bossy ass vampire..." He grumbled and walked to his room.
Glancing to the wheelchair-bound human, Josh gave a deep sigh. "Stop staring at me like that. I'm going to explain everything soon."
As Jacob came back into the living room with a bundle of clothes, placing them on a side-table, Josh cleared his throat lightly to start his explanation. "I didn't really... Kill those humans. I just made sure they wouldn't wake up again."
"What do you mean?" Billy asked with a frown.
"A vampire fed from them... He had joined me and my brother a few weeks ago." Josh sighed, petting over blonde hair to comfort both him and Creven. "And I'm guessing I don't have to tell you what vampire venom does to a human... So, before they could start changing, I made sure they wouldn't wake up."
"And why would you do that...?" Jacob asked, frowning deeply. Didn't vampires usually want to spread their virus?
Josh leveled a glare at the wolf. "You know what we are. Undead, unnatural creatures... Drinking blood to survive. I wouldn't wish this on anyone..." He said, looking down. "I especially hate what vampires do to my brother... You saw what he turns into, there's something about his blood that attracts vampires, and it's happened more than once."
Jacob blinked. "You're telling me, the kid turns into that... Thing if he's bitten by a vampire?"
"Yes... Vampire venom has that affect on him... I'm not sure why."
"Okay, so, you burn the bodies...? So all of those piles of ash are bodies you burned that the vampire had killed?"
"No." Josh said and sighed. "My venom turns the bodies to ashes. It doesn't turn them into vampires like normal venom."
"So you bite them and inject your venom into the body once he's done?" Jacob asked with a slightly arched brow.
"Yes."
"Okay, so where is this vampire? You said he joined you and your brother?" Billy looked to the sleeping blonde, eying the long elfish ears and the bold whisker-like scars on the cheeks.
"I don't know... He could be dead, Creven usually kills any vampire that bites him, but I can't say for sure since I haven't seen the body."
"Creven... You're brother, I assume?" Billy asked, humming lightly. "He's not a vampire." It wasn't a question, it was a statement.
"No... I'm not sure what he is, and neither is he. If you ask him, he won't be able to give you an answer." Josh gazed down to his brother once more, threading his fingers in soft blonde locks. "He... Doesn't remember anything from before we met..."
"So you're not really related?"
"Not by blood, no."
"Ah, that sucks... Not knowing what or who you are..." Jacob mumbled and frowned softly. He felt bad for the kid...
"I know what and who I am..." Came the groggy voice of the small blonde. He sat up, making sure to wrap himself up in the blanket as he crawled into Josh's lap. "I'm Josh's brother..." Yawning widely, he tucked his head underneath the vampire's chin, his eyes falling closed once more as he rested. He couldn't fall back asleep though, his dreams were scary...
Josh smiled gently and wrapped his arms around his brother. "Of course you are..." He said softly and hummed gently to him. "There's no doubt of that." Josh frowned softly, thinking back to the sixth tail that sprouted. "Creven... What happened to that vampire...?"
"Huh? Oh... I don't... Really remember. He bit me, I think... And then there was pain." He shivered, hiding his face into his brother's chest.
"Hush, hush... I'm here now, there's no more pain..." He cooed gently and pet over the golden locks.
Creven purred softly, peering out at the two strangers. Pointed ears twitching, he shifted a bit and then gave an uncertain growl as he clung to his brother.
"It's alright, they're not enemies."
Yipping softly, the young blonde sniffed at the air, leaning forward a bit to inspect the strange and new scents. The younger one smelled like the forest... And of lupine. He yipped again, growling lightly at his brother.
"You know I don't understand that." Josh chuckled softly and flicked his nose gently.
Sneezing lightly from the flick, Creven rubbed over his nose and then looked up to his brother. "Ookami..."
"Hmmm? Yes, he is a wolf."
Cerulean orbs widening, the fox-child leaned forward more, his weight being supported by Josh's arms. "Honto desu ka?!" His cheeks flushed a soft pink from the confused faces, Creven looking down with embarrassment. He did it again.
Josh chuckled. "He asked if you were being serious, more or less." Since he had time on his hands (more than he wanted), Josh studied Japanese so he could understand the little blonde whenever he slipped into his native language. It was also good for them to have private conversations around people.
Jacob couldn't help the laugh that came from him, smiling. "Yeah, I'm really a wolf."
"I wanna see!" Creven called out, eyes wide as he bounced a bit in excitement.
"Ahah..." Jacob rubbed the back of his neck, a light blush rising to his cheeks. He's never met anyone who wanted to see him in wolf form. "I'm not the only wolf, there's a whole pack here in La Push."
Cerulean hues glistened in wonder. "Cool... Josh! Can we meet the other wolves?!" Creven asked, feeling a strange sort of kinship with the wolf. It was like they were the same... Even though the fox-child knew there was a big difference, but still.
Of course you'd form a bond with some mutt.
Eye twitching a bit at the voice growling in his head, Creven's smile wavered just slightly. Why did he hear this voice...? And why was it always angry? Deep in his thoughts, the young blonde nearly missed what his brother said.
"I don't know if that's a good idea..."
"Yeah, that may not be such a good idea." Jacob agreed, a sheepish expression on his face. He felt a bit bad as the excited expression dropped on the tan face, wanting to cheer him up.
"Aw... Why not?"
"They're sort of... Well, not too good at controlling themselves." Jacob said as he rubbed the back of his neck. "And us wolves aren't too fond of le-... Vampires."
Josh twitched lightly at the beginning of an insult, lips pulling down to a dissatisfied frown. At least he caught himself. "I've noticed that." He said with a bit of a dry tone.
Head tilting, Creven glanced between his brother and the wolf, blinking a bit in confusion. "Why not?"
Josh nuzzled at his brother, smushing their cheeks together. "Don't worry about it, little brother." He said with a gentle tone.
Jacob watched the two, head giving the slightest of tilts. There was something about this kid... He was so easy-going, and had stopped being defensive when Josh said him and his father weren't enemies. No one was that easy to accept people he's never seen before as not a threat.
Billy rolled forward a bit, gazing at the blonde. Even if the vampire had told him he wouldn't get a straight answer, the elder needed some answers. "Child, do you know what you are?"
"Un, Josh's brother."
"Yes, you said when you woke up." Billy said, offering a small smile. "But I'm not talking about that, what I'm talking about is if you're human."
"Human...?" Head tilting a bit to the side, azure eyes widening ever so slightly as rounded pupils slitted, a primal look overcast the tan face. "Do you mean prey...? I am not prey."
Josh frowned deeply, arms tightening around his brother ever-so-slightly as his eyes narrowed at the man. "What are you trying to do? Didn't I tell you before?"
Jacob twitched from the change in the blonde's attitude, stepping closer to his father as his muscles tensed and coiled.
"What I want to know is if he's a threat, and his reaction to that question is troubling..."
"He is not a threat!" Josh growled out, baring his fangs with his climbing anger.
"Him referring to 'humans' as prey is troubling. That suggests he hunts and eats humans."
"Hunt...?"
Yes, little Kitling. Hunt. A sharp grin glinted in dingy lighting as crimson eyes narrowed in delight. After all these years of the child drawing on his chakra and powers, transforming into that half-fox creature, he was finally ready to be manipulated and influenced. His will-power was amazing, the large fox would give the little Kitling that, but all things must come to an end. Spread terror and carnage, let us go hunt.
Grunting softly in pain, cerulean jewels squinted closed as tan hands gripped at his head.
What...? No, I don't...
Nonsense, of course you do.
"Creven...? Are you okay...?" Josh asked softly, frowning more as he held the now trembling boy close. "Creven..." Shooting a glare over at the wheelchair-bound human, he wanted to hiss and growl, but he kept himself in check.
"Shut up... Shut up... Shut up, shut up, shut up...!" The fox-child curled into a cold chest, gripping at his hair tighter as his nails started to dig into his scalp.
"Shhh, shhh, little brother it's okay..." Josh said as he held the boy close, gently taking his hands and untangling them from the soft blonde spikes. "Hush..."
The booming voice laughed inside his head, filling all of his thoughts and making it hard to hear the comforting words of his brother. It slowly started to tone down and stop, making hearing possible again and leaving Creven trembling in a cold embrace.
Josh nuzzled at his brother gently, kissing at his forehead. "Are you alright...?"
Nodding a bit, his eyes slowly opened half-way, shining tiredly. "Hungry..."
Billy and Jacob stiffened, frowning deeply. Did that mean what they thought it meant...?
"I thought you would get hungry soon." Josh said and smiled softly before he took out some jerky from a pouch on his side. "Here."
Creven wrinkled his nose at the jerky, but took it and started to gnaw on it. "Dry..." He mumbled softly, sulking a bit.
"I know, but I can't just carry around a dead rabbit. It'll start to smell and it's not very sanitary."
Creven huffed lightly, sticking his tongue out at his brother.
"I'll take it back if you don't want it." The vampire said, brow arching.
"N-No, I'll eat it..." The fox-child said softly as he gnawed and nibbled at the jerky.
Two confused expressions stared at the strange duo seated on the Black's couch. "So... What do you eat?" Billy asked softly.
Blinking at the man, guilt started to whirl inside Creven as he looked down at the jerky. Was Josh going to get in trouble because of him...? "Animals..." He said softly. "I-I can stop though..."
Billy sighed softly, shaking his head. One crisis adverted. "No, that's fine." He said, smiling gently at the blonde. The relief that flushed the child's face almost had the elder smiling more and chuckling. "And you?" Looking to the vampire, he gazed at the unusual purple eyes. "You're a vampire, but your eyes aren't red. If you fed off animals like your brother, then they would be golden. But they're purple."
"Hmm...? Oh, Creven's blood makes them purple, I guess. I didn't know that a vampire's eyes were supposed to be red because of human blood, until another pointed it out. We had met a Coven years back, and they told me about the color of a vampire's eyes." Josh said, giving a light shrug.
Billy narrowed his eyes. "So, your 'brother's' blood makes your eyes purple." He said, lips thinning out.
Stiffening, Josh hissed through clenched teeth as his eyes narrowed. "What are you insinuating?"
"It seems to me that you just keep him around as your personal blood bank." Billy said, arms crossing. "A child that cannot die, cannot be turned by venom, and you've said it yourself that vampires find it hard to resist Creven's blood."
"I am not!" Creven snarled out, baring sharp fangs at the human. He strained against his brother's arms holding him back, pushing against them. That was unforgivable! "Josh only drinks my blood when he needs to!"
"Only when he needs to? So what does he drink from when he doesn't need your blood?" Billy asked, a stern look on his face.
"Pops..." Jacob said softly, frowning lightly. He was right though, if Josh fed from humans then they would have a problem. Even though Jacob found himself rooting for the two, which was in itself a very strange thing, he had to side with the humans first.
Josh ground his teeth in anger, a vein in his temple bulging just a bit as he controlled his rage. "I mostly feed from animals."
"Mostly?"
A growl vibrated in his throat lightly. "Yes, mostly. I have, on occasion, fed from a human, but only in certain... Circumstances."
"What sort of circumstances?"
"Not your business."
"You're not gunna... Kill my brother, are you...?" Creven asked softly, a hint of that primal look teasing the corners of his expression.
"..." The elder Black frowned softly before giving a light sigh. "There is a Coven that feeds solely on animals. If you are willing to meet them and take on their practice wholly, then I won't have the wolves kill you. But, if you attack and kill even one human, then you're getting dismembered and burned."
"Tch..." Glancing down at his little brother, his arms tightened around him. He couldn't leave Creven alone... "Alright. Unless Creven wants to leave this area."
Looking up at his brother, he gave a sheepish and pleading expression. "I like Wolfie... Can we stay...? Please?"
Smiling gently, Josh nuzzled his little brother. "Of course we can."
"Yay!" Creven threw his arms up in the air with his celebration, beaming happily.
Jacob laughed softly. "Pops, I don't think we'll have a problem with them."
Huffing a bit, Billy nodded. "Good. Now... You can meet the pack tomorrow."
"Uh, do you think that's a good idea...?" The wolf asked, blinking at his father with a worried frown.
"You've been in the same room with a vampire for awhile, and you've been calm. Haven't even complained about the stench." Billy eyed the small blonde in the vampire's embrace. "Though, I have a feeling I know why."
"Eh?" Jacob blinked a few times. "Why?"
Chuckling, Billy shook his head lightly. "Just get to bed, you have a big day ahead of you."
Groaning, Jacob sighed deeply. "Alright, alright." He grumbled out before giving a two-fingered wave to his guests. "Night." With that, he retreated to his room to settle in for the night. Where did the day go?
"Does he need a bed for the night?"
"No." Josh said with a small frown, wishing his brother would sleep normally. He gave the blonde tresses a light nuzzle, smiling from the soft purring.
A foxy grin spread across the young blonde's face, the bold whisker scars curving with his cheeks.
"Alright then, good night."
The two brother's watched the human roll away before Josh returned his gaze to Creven. "So, you like the wolf?" He asked softly.
"Un! He seems nice! And smells kind of familiar..."
"Familiar...?" Arching a brow at Creven, the vampire tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
"I don't really know, he just smells familiar." He shrugged lightly, tipping his head back to gaze up at Josh. "I'm still hungry..."
"Let's go hunt, then. Of course, after you put some clothes on." Standing, he placed his little brother down on his feet before picking up the clothing the wolf had gotten for his brother. "Here, put these on."
Taking the clothes given to him, Creven pulled them on. They were a bit big, and he was getting anxious that his neck was exposed. At least the sleeves were long, and he had pants and not shorts. "Okay, I'm ready." He said, a bit of discomfort clear on his face.
Smiling gently, Josh ruffled blonde hair. "We'll have to get you some clothes later." He said before opening the door and stepping outside. "I'm sure they won't mind if we hunt in their woods, as long as we make it back before sun up." Josh looked down to his brother, watching him sniff at the ground.
A soft growl came from the boy in agreement as he found a faint trial, stalking after the scent. Rounded pupils dilated, allowing more light to filter in so he could see better in the darkness. He took off, not worried about his brother being left behind. The vampire would always be right behind him, or by his side. As he tracked the scent, the fox-child slowed down to a slinking trot as the trail got fresher and fresher. Lowering his body to the ground and getting more careful about where he stepped, and what he stepped on, Creven spotted the deer he had been tracking. Rolling his shoulders, he tensed up and waited for a moment before lunging at the deer, claws sinking into the hide of the animal while sharp teeth clamped down on its throat.
Coming up in front of the deer, Josh quickly snapped its neck while Creven held the animal. Crouching down, he sunk his fangs into the deer's hide and drank while his brother tore into the belly to expose the meat. Josh pulled away once he drained the animal, licking over his lips and taking a few steps back to sit down against a tree, watching his brother empty out the carcass. As he watched his brother, his thoughts drifted a bit.
Are vampires supposed to want to drink from humans? Makes sense, I guess, so why don't I want to?
Josh never felt that need to feed from humans, he felt a need to drink blood, sure, but not solely from humans. He sighed lightly, rubbing at his temples lightly before smiling when the most beautiful blue eyes looked at him. "You all done?" He asked, watching the other as Creven started to lick his hands clean of blood.
Yipping gently at his brother, he crawled over and rubbed his head against the vampire's arm. "Un!"
"Then let's get back." Josh said with a smile before standing, scooping the fox-child in his arms and nuzzling him. He licked some blood from a tan cheek while starting back to the Black household.
"Aniki... Do you think we'll be able to find a home in this place?"
Sitting back on the couch, Josh leaned back and cradled his brother against his chest. "Yes, I think we'll be able to." He said softly, smiling to his brother.
"Yay~" Eyes closing as his hair was pet, he started to purr softly. "I can't wait to meet the wolves tomorrow, I hope they'll be our friends."
Josh chuckled softly, continuing to pet over his brother's hair. "Yeah, me too." He said softly.
Listening to his brother purr, he gazed out of the window to watch the night sky. A frown pulled at the corners of his lips as he thought back to what the elder Black male said. He wasn't sure about meeting a Coven of vampires, even if they fed from animals, he knew what Creven's blood could do. His little brother was irresistible to his kind.
Maybe I should leave him with Jacob.
A small smile quirked the corners of his lips up. Josh knew Creven would refuse to be left behind. Still, he would have to make sure the blonde stayed away.
Squinting his eyes as the morning sun stung them, he had to wonder just how long he had been in his thoughts for morning to come this quick. Glancing over to Billy as the human rolled out of his room, Josh's brow arched. "You're up early."
Looking at Josh, Billy chuckled a bit. "I'm always up early."
"Hn... Or you're just not comfortable sleeping with a vampire under your roof." It wasn't said out of offense, more just saying out loud what everyone was feeling.
Lips pressing into a thin line, the older human gazed at the vampire. "Do you?"
Snorting, Josh smirked lightly at the human before glancing down at his brother gently. "No."
Opening cerulean pools, Creven tilted his head a bit as he gazed back at his brother. "...?" He yipped softly as his hair was ruffled, purring happily.
"Jacob!" Knocking loudly on his son's door, Billy grumbled a bit to himself. Why did it take so long to wake him up? "Get up! You lazy sack of bones!"
"M'gettin' up! God..." Came the muffled reply, followed after a thud and a groan. "Dammit..."
Getting off the couch, Creven slunk over to Jacob's door after Billy had rolled away to the bathroom. Pawing gently at the wood, he perked up a bit when the door opened and gazed up at the wolf with bright eyes.
"Ah... Hello..." Blinking down at the fox-child, Jacob felt a bit awkward as he was stared at by such large eyes. "Why is he staring at me...?" He asked, glancing over to the vampire before back at those sparkling blue eyes.
"Because he likes you." Josh said, smirking lightly. "And he's excited to meet the other wolves."
"Oh." Chuckling softly, Jacob grinned down at Creven. "You'll love 'em, they're great guys." He said before cracking his neck lightly. "Give me a bit, just gotta shower and give 'em a call."
"Come here, Creven. Let Jacob get ready." Josh said, motioning for his brother to get out of the wolf's way.
Whining softly, the young blonde made his way back to the vampire, hopping into his lap and curling up. He would wait patiently, even if he didn't like it.
"Don't worry, we'll meet the other wolves soon."
"I know, I'm just really excited!"
Josh laughed lightly. "I know, I know." He said, giving the other a fond gaze. Even after all these years, he was still so childish and excitable.
"Alright, so the pack is waiting outside." Jacob said, looking at his two guests. His worry increased as he thought about the pack and how they would react.
Excitement rushed through Creven's body, making it impossible for him to stay still. He bolted off of Josh's lap and out of the house, eyes wide with his excitement.
"Creven! Wait!" Standing up quickly, the vampire rushed after his brother with a soft curse. Sometimes the blonde forgot about dangerous situations!
Bursting outside, azure orbs glanced around quickly before he took a sharp turn and bolted around the house to the back. His eyes brightened when they landed on the pack, picking up more speed as he barreled his way towards the wolves. Creven grunted as strong arms wrapped around him, sulking as Josh caught him, giving a whining yip up at the vampire.
"Creven! You can't ju―!" Being cut off by loud growls and snarls, Josh hissed at the wolves as he turned his body to shield his brother from the potential danger.
"Jacob! What's the meaning of this?!" Sam growled out, eyes narrowing at Josh. "Why is there a blood-sucker here?!"
"Whoa, whoa, let's all just calm down." Jacob said, standing in front of his guests and holding his hands up in a placating manner.
"Why did you call us here to meet a damn leech?! If he's the one that has killed all those people then his head should be rolling!" Sam snarled out, eyes narrowing at the vampire.
"No, me and Pops talked to him. Josh isn't responsible for those deaths, and he's also agreed to meet the Cullen's and take on their practice."
Scoffing, the Alpha of the Uley Pack glared at Jacob. "You should have just killed him, we don't need another damn leech in Washington. Step aside, we'll take care of him."
Pointed ears twitched as Creven heard those words. Cerulean pools bled crimson as the fox-child growled lowly. "You would dare to try and kill my brother?"
Startled, Sam blinked at the blonde in the vampire's arms, stiffening from the piercing gaze. "Who are you?" He growled out cautiously, fingers twitching lightly.
Baring sharp teeth at the wolf, blonde hair bristled as Creven pushed himself away from his brother, stepping on to the ground as he stood to his full height. "Creven, Josh's brother, and I'll end you if you even think of killing him."
Looking at Creven in shock, Jacob switched his gaze to Josh, blinking wide eyes at him.
"He's very protective of his family." Josh said with a small shrug, arms crossing over his chest.
Sam growled at the small blonde, taking a step forward. "You would protect a vampire?" The kid obviously wasn't a vampire, he didn't smell of one. But those eyes... They were red, a normal human didn't have red eyes unless they were albino. So what exactly was this child?
"Ah, Sam, I don't think you should take him on." Jacob frowned. As Creven got angrier, there was something telling the wolf to back off and leave him be. He was sure the other wolves felt the same thing.
Growling lightly, Sam reluctantly took a step back before sitting down once more. "Jacob... Why did you call us here?" He asked, eyes not leaving the blonde. His Alpha pride slightly sore from having backed down from such a small male.
"Well, Creven wanted to meet you." Grinning at the pack a bit sheepishly, he scratched at his cheek.
Back down to all fours, Creven inched closer to the pack, sniffing at them. The pairs of eyes on him didn't phase the blonde in his exploration. Moving from wolf to wolf, he plopped himself down next to one of the wolves, blinking his bluing eyes up at him.
Jared stared down at incredibly blue eyes, having watched the red pools change to purple, and then that dazzling blue. The wolf nearly scooped him up as he gazed down at the blonde, wanting to squish him. "He's so friggen cute!" He said, reaching down and ruffling blonde hair. "Can we keep him?"
"No." Josh said flatly, snatching his brother away from the wolf and wrapping the fox-child up in his arms.
Purring, Creven nuzzled at his brother before gazing back at the wolves, yipping lightly.
"Creven." Josh sighed a bit.
"I like them!" Creven chirped out happily, beaming.
"Even the one who threatened to kill me?" Josh asked, arching a brow lightly with an amused smile.
"Well... No, I don't really like him. Maybe if he apologizes to you, then I'll like him."
A few chuckles were shared amongst the wolves, the pack relaxing from the lighthearted atompshere around the blonde child. The vampire's presence still put them on a slight edge, but it was starting to dull.
Sam's eye twitched a bit. "Why do I have to apologize?" Also, why should he care if the blonde liked him or not? Even if the longer he looked at him, the more Sam did want to adopt the boy into the pack.
"You were rude, so you should apologize."
"I was not rude."
"Uh-huh! You were!"
"I was not rude, he's a vampire, and vampires are our enemies."
"Are all vampires your enemies?"
"Yes." Sam frowned at the blonde, eyes narrowing a bit.
"They don't have to be." Creven said softly, gazing at the wolf with lightly pursed lips.
"Of course they do. Vampires drink the blood of humans, so we're here to protect the humans." Sam's arms crossed over his chest as he growled a bit.
"But the Coven that lives here doesn't drink human blood. Josh drinks animal blood, so why are they your enemies?" He asked, blinking at him in a bit of confusion.
Silence reigned over the group, the wolves sharing some frowns and glances.
"Because they could..."
"But they don't. So, shouldn't you work together to protect humans? If they drink animal blood, then they must want to protect them as much as you."
Jacob glanced at his Alpha, stumped by Creven's words. No one had ever thought of that before, they had just gone with what they knew. Vampires drank human blood, so they were a danger to humans. But Creven did have a point... The Cullen's didn't drink human blood, so they weren't really a danger.
"How the hell would you suggest us working together with them? We can't stand them, and they can't stand us. Plus, they piss me off..." Paul said, frowning deeply as he gave a light huff.
"Paul, everyone pisses you off." Embry arched a brow at his pack-mate. "But I do agree, I don't think this whole 'work together' thing will work."
Jacob gazed at Creven, a thoughtful expression on his face. Now he knew what his father was talking about. The young boy seemed to neutralize the tension between the wolves and the vampire, especially with Paul, who usually always explodes when he even smells a vampire. He wondered what it was about Creven that made the pack calm and actually think? He heard about one of the Cullen's having a power where he could manipulate the emotions of those around him, maybe this was something like that?
"Right, well, before we even think of attempting that, you said... Josh, was it? You said Josh was going to visit the Cullen's and take up their practice?" Sam frowned lightly. That meant the vampire had drunk from humans before.
"Yeah, he already feeds from animals, but he has admitted to drinking from humans a few times. So he agreed that he would take up their practice wholly if he was going to live here."
Sam sighed softly, nodding. "Alright, you better do that quickly. I'll give you up to a week. If you go over that deadline and haven't visited them yet, then we'll either chase you out or―"
"Or?" Creven asked, head tilting to the side as he gave Sam a wide-eyed, primal look.
Sam frowned lightly, sighing a bit. "You'll find out if you miss the deadline." He said, looking at Josh.
"I won't miss the deadline." Josh said with a light chuckle before looking to his brother. "Calm down, little brother." He said with a small smile.
"He still hasn't apologized..." Creven said with a small pout, sulking a bit. "So I still don't like him." Gazing over at the Alpha, he got a stubborn look on his face. "So I won't like you until you apologize!"
The pack laughed again, Jacob snickering as he gently bumped his shoulder to Sam's. "Why don't you just apologize?"
Sam sighed deeply, giving the blonde a flat look. "Fine fine, I'm sorry I threatened to kill you." He said as he looked at the vampire.
"Don't worry about it." Josh said, smirking at the wolf. He couldn't say he wasn't loving this.
Sam wanted to smack the vampire for that cheeky expression.
Creven beamed happily. "Yay! Good, good! Now that you've made up, we can all be friends!"
Josh smiled gently, nuzzling at his brother. "Yes, we can all be friends now." He said softly.
Crystie, we may have found a new home, with a new family. Even if they are a bunch of rowdy wolves.
