Chapter 4
The Mysterious Pokémon Dojo
Author's Note: In the previous three chapters, all of the Sailor Moon characters were being referred to by their original English names from the DiC and Cloverway dubs. Starting with this chapter, though, everything that deals with the original 90's Sailor Moon anime will be referred to by their ViZ Media dub/original Japanese names from the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon manga. Everything from the Pokémon anime, however, will be referred to by their English names from the TPCi dub. Also, to those who have seen the new season of Pokémon, this is an F.Y.I: when I first came up with this idea, I ONLY knew up to Generation 5, so Serena from Generation 6's X and Y won't be included in the story at all. Hope this will clear up any confusion.
In the dark vicinity of the dreaded Dark Kingdom, Queen Beryl was not happy at Jadeite's recent failure against a brand new Sailor Guardian. "Please, my queen, allow me to try again! I just know I can get you energy this time!" he pleaded. "We'll see about that, now won't we?" said a voice behind him. A man wearing the same outfit as Jadeite, but with dark, brown hair and green eyes appeared directly behind him. The man's name was Nephrite, who was obviously older than Jadeite. "Patience, Nephrite," said Queen Beryl. "Your time will come." She then turned to Jadeite and asked him where he will strike next. He then explained that he will be targeting a mode of transportation called a bus that is located near a certain mansion. Pleased by his confidence, she allowed him to proceed with his task. Nephrite, on the other hand, was not too excited, as he clearly had a disgruntled look on his face. Back in Tokyo, Usagi and Luna saw various police cars traveling down the road. One of them stopped near her location on the sidewalk and an Officer Jenny got out. "What's all this commotion about?" she demanded. "It's the ninja mansion, Officer Jenny!" replied one of her fellow police comrades. "We've heard from several eye-witnesses that people that get on the 6:00 bus have been disappearing!" Not paying any attention to Usagi, the female officer got back in her car and drove off. At that moment, both Usagi and Luna noticed their new friend, Ami Mizuno, who was with her Bellsprout. Making their way towards her, they suddenly noticed more police cars going past them. Just then, their friends from school, Duplica and Marina, walked up to them, along with Ash, his Pokémon, Pikachu, and Usagi's younger sister, Chibiusa. After Marina mentioned that there were strange things going on at the ninja mansion, Ash quickly jumped at the chance to go there, simply because he wanted to see what the gym leader, Koga, knew about it.
At the mansion, there were various girls lined up to get special amulets so that they could possibly have their wishes come true. Unbeknownst to them, Jadeite was in disguise and had overheard them. "That's it, wish for more love," he thought. Inside the main shrine of the mansion was girl with raven-black hair in a red-and-white shrine maiden outfit. She had gorgeous violet-colored eyes and was trying to get a reading from the flames that were burning in front of her. The girl's name was Rei Hino, who is the niece of the poisonous ninja master himself, Koga, leader of the Fuchsia Gym. Outside, Koga had his Golbat fly around the girls that were about to leave on a bus, so that their spirits would remain high. After his Golbat was finished, the girls waved goodbye as they left. "I'd hate to see what my father would do," he said to himself, as he thought of Rei's grandfather, who is known for being extremely awkward around young teenage girls. Just then, he felt a small tug on his robe, which just happened to be Pikachu trying to get his attention. Upon seeing that Pikachu was with a few others, he greeted them properly, welcoming them to his dojo. "What are you doing, uncle Koga?" asked Rei, who was right behind him. Usagi, Duplica, Marina, Ash, Pikachu, and Chibiusa were astonished when they saw her, as she was like nothing they had ever seen before. As Koga desperately tried to explain the situation to her, Rei felt an ominous presence nearby. What she didn't know was that it was Jadeite draining the girls of their energy from the amulets that they received. Taking out an ofuda from her shrine robe, she tossed it right onto Usagi's face, knocking the bun-haired blond unconscious. "Oops, sorry," she said. A little bit later, she invited the others inside, where they talked a bit as Usagi recovered from the blow. It wasn't long into the conversation before a Murkrow began pecking Pikachu on the head. "Murkrow, stop that!" she demanded. Her Pokémon stopped and flew onto her shoulder. "Hey, what gives?" said Ash. "Murkrow's been acting strange, lately," she began. "Usually, he doesn't attack people or Pokémon so aggressively. And on top of that, I've been getting these strange visions of three crystal-like objects. It's so odd… My premonitions have been way off for some reason." Just then, Usagi yawned, fully recovered from the incident. Chibiusa gave her older sister an annoyed glance. "For getting smacked in the face with that scroll, you sure recover quickly," she said. "SHUT IT!" snapped Usagi, annoyed at Chibiusa's comment. Just then, Jadeite, still in disguise, slid the door open and offered Rei some towels. "Excuse me, Miss Rei, who is that?" asked Chibiusa. "To be honest, I don't really know," replied Rei. "He just showed up a few days ago and ever since then we've been very busy with selling amulets." "He sure looks handsome," said Usagi. Chibiusa gawked upon hearing her sister say that. "Does she seriously mean that?" she thought to herself. "Hey, are you feeling okay?" asked Ash. "I'm fine, Ash," she replied, trying to hold back her steaming anger. "I've just got something on my mind right now!" "Pika, pika," said Pikachu, meaning, I think somebody's lost it. "SHUT UP! Who asked you?!" she yelled in extreme anger. Fed up with the attitude, she stormed out of the room. "Chibiusa, wait up!" said Ash as he ran after her until physically slamming into one of the mansion's invisible walls. "Stupid walls," he said. "Those things always give our guests such a hard time," Rei said to herself.
Meanwhile, Chibiusa continued to storm along the sidewalk, grumbling to herself that Pikachu shouldn't have interfered with her personal business. She continued on her route home, but suddenly stopped upon noticed that there were several girls waiting at the bus stop, who all looked like they were totally exhausted. "Oh, man," she said worriedly. "This does not look good." Just then, the 6:00 bus pulled up and all of the girls got on it, as if they were actually supposed to. Usagi ran up to her just in time to see the passengers get on. Chibiusa covered her mouth in shock upon noticing that the bus driver didn't seem to notice that her passengers were completely out of it. Unable to stand the tension, both Chibiusa and Usagi started crying their eyes out, as they were completely terrified. Luna tried to get them to go on the bus, but the two girls were too scared to even move. As the bus doors closed on them, the bus began driving like a normal bus would, but then suddenly began hovering into the air and went through a dimensional portal before disappearing into thin air without a trace. "This is even worse than I thought!" exclaimed Chibiusa. Inside the other dimension, the driver was communicating telepathically with Jadeite, and was actually revealed to be the youma known as Kigaan. He ordered her to drain the passengers of their energy, to which she replied, "Sir!" After that, a bright light emitted from the bus as the energy from the passengers was transferred over to the Dark Kingdom.
The following day, Rei was feeding her Murkrow some Pokémon food just as Usagi, Chibiusa, Luna, Ash, and Pikachu arrived at the shrine's entrance. They tried to calmly explain to her what they had seen, but Rei took it as another one of the interrogations that she had been constantly receiving from the police. "No need to get upset about it," said Ash. "We're just curious if you know anything about these disappearances." "Well, I don't!" she shouted. "Now get lost!" They group then ran off away from the shrine. Before leaving, though, Luna glanced at her for a brief moment, suspecting a tremendous ability in her. "Who do they think they are?" Rei asked herself, clearly annoyed at being interrogated by almost everyone that has seen the buses. Just then, she saw a red stick with a golden ringed tip at the top, which had the symbol of the planet, Mars, on the center part of the tip. As she picked up from off of the ground, she wondered to herself what it was. "Two love amulets, please!" exclaimed two girls at the counter that Jadeite was behind. "Ever since we hired that guy, we've been selling a lot of amulets," she thought. Rei decided to go into the main shrine room to try to get a reading from the flames that were burning in the pit. "What's the connection?" Her thoughts were interrupted by Jadeite, who offered her some nourishment. "Get lost, you're breaking my concentration!" she demanded. "My apologies," he said, closing the door with a look that terrified her. "Could he be the reason why my premonitions have been off recently?" she thought. Meanwhile, Usagi and the others were waiting for Ami at the bus stop, who was still at her cram school. Just then, the 6:00 bus arrived at the bus stop, and once again, Usagi and Chibiusa were both too scared to get on. That is, until Luna coaxed them into using the disguise pen. Using the pen, Usagi changed herself into a flight attendant, boosting her confidence. "Too bad this isn't a REAL plane," said Ash. Chibiusa let out an annoyed sigh, embarrassed at her older sister. Faced with no other choice, the group got on the bus just before it took off into the dimensional portal. As it disappeared, Ami dropped to her knees, knowing that she had arrived a moment too late to go in with them.
Back at the shrine, Rei was still trying to get a reading from the fire to find out why all of the buses were disappearing. Desperate, she started chanting to get a good premonition. "Rin, pyo, tou, sha, kai, retsu, zai, zen!" she said as the fire flickered wildly, revealing the face of Jadeite to her. Rei decided to face him and force him to confess his crimes. When she did, though, he transported her to the same location as all of the buses that had disappeared. While she was being transported, Usagi and the others discovered that the driver was the youma, Kigaan, an ugly tannish-brown colored monster with reddish-orange hair and a black dress. "Quick, transform!" said Ash. Chibiusa nodded in agreement. After Usagi finished her sobbing, she joined in with her sister to transform. "MOON PRISM POWER, MAKE UP!" they both shouted, transforming them into Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon. Jumping off the bus, Sailor Moon took off her tiara, ready to use it against the youma. "MOON TIARA ACTION!" she exclaimed, but Kigaan caught it before it could dispose of her. "You fell for it," said Sailor Moon. The tiara then ensnared the youma, rendering her helpless. Just then, Rei fell down and was held captive by Kigaan until her Murkrow arrived, pecking the youma on the head just as it broke free of Sailor Moon's tiara. Rei broke free of the grasp and was awakened by Sailor Moon and Luna, who explained how to use the Mars Stick to her. Just as Kigaan attacked them, Mewtwo appeared and used his Barrier ability to protect them. "Rei, hurry!" he instructed. Left out of other options, Rei decided to take the chance and use the Mars Stick, shouting, "MARS POWER, MAKE UP!" The phrase triggered fire blast light from the ballpoint tip of the pen, and transformed her into a Sailor Guardian, Sailor Mars. She had a purple skirt, red shoes, a tiara with a red jewel in the center, and all of the other accessories as Sailor Mercury, but the colors were red instead of blue. Although she was shocked at the change, Sailor Mars knew that she had a task to complete. She put her index fingers together and a small fireball emitted from them before flashing out at Kigaan. "FIRE SOUL!" she exclaimed. The attack ended up destroying the youma, as well as making Jadeite extremely unhappy. "Guys, look!" said Sailor Chibi Moon, pointing up at the portal. It was starting to close on them. "Pikachu?!" exclaimed Pikachu, meaning, what are we going to do?! Just then, Tuxedo Mask appeared in the driver's seat on one of the buses, offering them a ride home. Ami, using her Sailor Guardian powers back at the bus stop, allowed the portal to stay open long enough for them to get back. After they arrived back, Sailor Mars looked back inside the bus, to which Sailor Moon exclaimed that she was looking for Tuxedo Mask. Sailor Mars denied this, thus starting a friendly rivalry between the two of them.
