Epilogue
The winter days at Titan's tower passed slowly and gently, like leaves falling from trees. That particular winter eventually came and went. Spring arrived, then summer, then fall and eventually winter again. Then another spring, another winter, another spring, another winter, spring, winter, spring, winter and I had become an old silk worm.
My shiny peachy skin had become wrinkled and pale. I have bad hearing in one ear and I'm limping around on the same hip that Slade injured when I was younger. My stubby limbs feel heavy and no longer move with ease. Some days they were stiff, most days they were just plain slow.
The titans are all grown up and are still a formidable team. But things have definitely changed since that one particular winter. Throughout the years, several more events occurred. The aliens tried to ambush Starfire a few more times. We also crossed roads with Slade on several occasions. We faced more hardships, near-death experiences and other villains to keep us occupied. There were darker days than others, and some days that were painful. But Robin always remained close to the woman he loved and reassured her that everything would be okay.
Out of all the titans, Robin has definitely changed the most. He changed his appearance, and now goes by the name "Nightwing". At first, I didn't understand why he needed to change his alter ego. But that is for another story to be told.
Anyway, Nightwing and Starfire have been married for two years now. As they grew up together, their love for each other continued to flourish each day. Tonight was one of those nights that I needed to respect their privacy, so I decided to revisit Starfire's old bedroom and explore how much it has changed. She kept the pink walls but the circular bed, posters, and magazines were gone. The makeup and perfume bottles on her dresser were replaced with milk bottles and small toys. The large circular bed was replaced with a crib. There was a rocking chair in the corner of the room, as well as a bunch of toys. I climbed on top of the rocking chair, and into the crib to greet its inhabitant.
I forgot to mention that Starfire is a mommy now. She and Nightwing had a baby recently. They named her Mar'i and she is the most adorable baby I have ever seen. She has her mother's green eyes and her father's black hair. She was definitely Starfire and Nightwing merged together.
Even though these legs of mine are getting old, I still managed to climb my way into the crib. Mar'i looked over at me and giggled when I plopped on my belly. She is only a few months old, yet we have already become faithful companions. I have already had the joy of watching her mother and father grow up, and I am excited to be a part of her childhood as well.
I look out the window and watched the snow flurries fall gracefully. This would be one of the many winters I have witnessed and it makes me sad to think that my time is now limited. But in the end it was all worth it, because I was blessed with a loving home and family.
And most importantly, a red haired alien who has given me so much love and compassion.
