Chapter 15: Restricted Dreaming

What, exactly, does Jack intend to do with Pitch? Onyx thought to herself.

He seemed so eager to go back to her home. And besides, she had told Pitch earlier to get some sleep; who knows how long he'll stay asleep. She can't be responsible for bringing trouble into his home when he's at his grumpiest, if he does wake up.

Onyx suddenly stopped galloping through the late afternoon air.

"Hey! Why'd we stop?" Jack nearly fell off Onyx when she stopped, and now he was trying to reposition himself.

Onyx looked back at him. She gathered sand into the back of her throat and spit/vomited the contents into Jack's face. She'd seen this technique work in movies, so it should work with Jack.

Jack yelped and tried to get the sand out of his eyes and nose, desperately wiping at his face.

"What made you decide to return to Pitch after you stormed out before?"

He looked back up at her. Hearing Onyx's voice for the first time amazed him.

"How long have you been able to talk?!" Jack grinned wide, and was about ready to jump out of his seat on her back. He was excited that he wouldn't just have to ask 'yes' or 'no' questions.

"Answer my question first!"

Jack hesitated. He knew what he wanted to say, but telling Onyx was hard. She kind of intimidated him.

"I-I want Pitch to realize how much he needs me."

"And how do you suppose you're going to do that? I won't let you hurt him, Jack. Not again."

Jack paused in realization. He had hurt Pitch, twice, in fact, if you want to count his last major defeat, so of course she'd be protective over him.

"I don't exactly know. It may range from just talking to him like civilized people, to the worst case scenario, which is me seducing him." Jack blushed. It sounded a lot easier in his head.

Onyx snickered. Jack wasn't a very controlling person when it came to physical activities like that. Pitch had always taken the initiative when Jack had always hinted what he wanted. A kiss here, certain phrases there; but with Pitch not wanting any part of the young guardian for quite a while, it was going to be hard for Jack to have his way.

She started back on her way to her master's lair, not so much in a rush this time because of the lack of energy from being out in the daylight.

If Pitch wasn't going to teach the child how to grow up, then the job was Onyx's.

"I'll make you a deal, Jack. I'll follow you and do as you wish to make Pitch happy again with whatever you decide; but if it doesn't work and Pitch becomes more upset, angry, or hurt, you are never to approach him again."

"Wow, sounds a little harsh, Onyx. Never approach him?"

"I'm his caretaker. My job is to make sure he's well enough to live, both mentally and physically. And I see no reason for you to approach Pitch on your own will for any reason afterwards. I'm sorry, Jack, but those are my conditions for helping you."

Jack hesitated again. He had to make Pitch fall back in love with him without hurting the man, or else Onyx would kick his ass - hard. He pulled the top of his dream catcher out of his hoodie pocket. He would have to use this more than he thought to revise his plans so they were perfect.

Onyx's conditions were reasonable. Jack was the cause of Pitch's mixed feelings, so it only seemed logical that Jack set them straight. He slipped his trinket back into the fabric and straightened his posture.

"Alright, Onyx. If I fail, I will do as you said and never approach Pitch."

Hearing the boy say it made her conditions sound even harsher.

Traces of black sand lined Jack's jawline, hairline, and eyebrows. The particles glistened in the sun as afternoon quickly changed to evening. The breeze came invitingly to the two as they descended down the globe. The clouds barely touching Jack's face relaxed him. The familiar trees of Burgess eventually began to appear in the distance. His home's landscape was so beautiful in the late December air.

It's almost New Year's Eve,they both thought.

Hello Again! ^u^

A REALLY short chapter, but lots of information revealed! Onyx's personality is shown; Jack is starting his training to becoming a little more mature; Pitch is in for quite a surprise; and what's happening on New Year's Eve? ;)

I figured that I would stop being so dramatic and start being proud of my writings instead of worrying about content and information. We're all humans, aren't we?

Please excuse the titles of each chapter; they are just for me to keep track of them . . .

Update will be when I can!

Stay Awesome and Thanks a Bunches!
