Avatar Chapter 27
I do not own Avatar: The Last Airbender
Princess Azula was pleased with how her first public appearance tour had gone, and the meetings with Lord Xizan over the past few days had hammered out the specifics of their deal. She had so many new opportunities now, the power that was at her finger tips was almost intoxicating.
She would soon have a steady flow of information that would be invaluable in the coming years, and she could actually act on them with a stack of specialist profiles waiting for her back on the ship. It made her feel wonderful to have all this fall into place, almost everything.
That was all business and tonight was more of a vacation, and a fulfillment of a promise to Ty Lee, tonight they were going to the circus, Ty Lee's circus. The time spent in the city was fine, they had never seen so many strange and exotic things, but Azula knew that this was what Ty Lee was waiting for.
As they sat in the carriage her girlfriend was bouncing in her seat, the main attractions were still a fair ways away but one could already hear the sounds and smell the scents of it, all along the road different vendors had set up shop. "Oh aren't you excited Zula, there are so many things we have to see, can we see the animals first? Can we! Can we!" Ty Lee was such a child at times, but Azula supposed that was what her special.
"It's your circus Ty, see whatever you want."
"But I want to see all of it, and you're really good at making schedules and stuff." Ty Lee pouted.
The Princess rolled her eyes "Very well, the animals, the performers, the amusements and then we'll see a proper show."
"See, it sounds so much more official when you say it an- OH WOW! A silk candy stand, I've always wanted to see one up close…" Ty Lee was babbling on again and Azula was content tuning it out, her girlfriend was brimming with energy and with all the sugar here the Princess suspected Ty Lee would be bouncing off the walls in a few hours.
"She really is like a child, I suppose we both are but I no longer have that luxury." Azula frowned, it had been nagging her for a while but now that the business with Xizan was done she was starting to worry. "She probably has no idea what kinds of people I will be dealing with from now on, Agni she probably can't even spell discrete assassination contract."
Azula knew full well what kinds of things she would have to do in the future to secure her position, and worried what Ty Lee would think of her when she did so. Ordering assassinations, blackmailing governors, having problem villages wiped off the map…Azula could care less about the petty morals others imposed on the Royal family but she dreaded seeing the look on Ty Lee's face if she found out.
"What will she think of me? Will she understand, or will she just see the monster." The Princess shook her head, and shot a look at Ty Lee, she was leaning out the window and marvelling at… life in general it seemed.
"Stop it Azula! She does not see you that way, I know that… But what if she starts looking at me that way, the way SHE did." Azula hated remembering the way her mother used to look at her, like she was some beast that should be kept away, especially from Ursa's favorite child.
"Flame it! I don't… I won't, let Ty Lee look at me like that, she's mine, she'll accept me for who I am, I hope." She sighed, this was hard, the only person she had ever tried to please was her father and that was relatively easy. Failing him was never an option and she had not done so yet, for the longest time he was the only one whoso opinion mattered.
But now Ty Lee was here, always with that look of what she assumed was love or some other fluffy emotion in her eyes, and Azula desperately wanted that to stay. She did not want Ty Lee's big grey eyes to start looking at her with the fear that so many others did.
"My Ty Lee will not look at me like that, I don't know how yet by I will make sure she does not fear the monster." Azula moved over to where Ty Lee was leaning out the window and wrapped her arms around her girlfriend's waist, Ty Lee hopped back in the carriage and looked at her.
With a smile Azula scraped her long nails over Ty Lee's bare stomach, her girlfriend giggled, she was ticklish almost everywhere. "Zulaaa, what's gotten into you?" Ty Lee managed say between snickers.
"I want to make you happy, you have been a most valuable asset these past few weeks and I know you like all this touchy feely slop."
"Awww thanks Zula, you're like a cream ball."
Azula's eyebrow twitched "A what?"
"You know, you sort of crinkly on the outside but on the inside you full of creamy goodness." Ty Lee leaned her head back and had an upside-down smile on her face.
Azula pondered for a moment and smiled back "Well as long as you are the only to see the inside that is fine, I suppose." She leaned forward and kissed Ty Lee's upside-down lips, and as the girl closed her eyes the Princess thought about what her Ty Lee had said.
"Yesss, that's all I need to do, I suppose it's like a dragon, it can be terrifying and ferocious on the outside as long as it is wise and powerful on the inside." She mentally smirked, Azula had a plan. Before the year was out she would prove without a doubt to Ty Lee she was the perfect, smart and beautiful girl the perky acrobat thought she was. Azula realized she may have to reign in some of her more questionable traits, but if it was for Ty Lee, it was worth it.
"I will have to be careful of what I say and do in front of her from now, which means I will need a sure way to distract her from time to time…Mmmm." Azula looked out the window, they still had a ways to travel yet.
Azula broke the kiss and reached cover to a cord on the ceiling, she pulled it and curtains closed all around the carriage. Ty Lee looked at her with a curious expression, and Azula smirked as those big greys eyes widened.
She had moved her right hand to Ty Lee's chest while her left hand grazed the top of the acrobat's pants, her girlfriend gasped at the touch. Azula moved her head beside Ty Lee's ear and gave it a quick nip, it sounded like an incredibly stupid idea in those books Li and Lo had given her, but Ty Lee let out a pleasant squeak so maybe it had some merit.
"A-A-Azula, are you? Do you? Oh!" The Princess silenced the acrobat by moving her hand underneath the hem of the girl's pants.
"I am trying to make you happy Ty, does this make you unhappy?" Azula teased.
"By Agni no!" Ty Lee managed to say between heavy breathing.
"Then relax, your Princess wishes to reward you." Azula had an incredible memory and all the pictures, diagrams, and tips from those books were at the front of her mind. Azula could not understand those bloated romance novels but she certainly understood instruction manuals, no matter the subject.
When they finally got the circus a regal looking Azula stepped out of the carriage without so much as smudged lipstick, while a ragged looking Ty Lee stumbled out after her, with an enormous smile on her face.
Azula truly enjoyed the festivities that night, and even if an exhausted Ty Lee fell asleep halfway through the main performance, the Princess suspected she enjoyed them as well.
