Ding!
Ty Lee sleepily opened her eyes, she was having such a nice dream. It was a about fluffy things, her favorite food, and bells.
Ding! Ding!
Bells? There were no bells in her dream, there was a talking drum but certainly no bells; she closed her eyes and tried to remember other talking instruments.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
"Wait… BELL!"
Her eyes shot opened and she could see the silhouette of the bell in her room moving, it was ringing faster now. She looked out her window and saw the moon, it was still nighttime.
Rubbing her eyes she threw off the boar-bear fur blanket Azula had given her weeks ago, and made for the secret panel in her room, she was already worried. "What does Azula need at this hour, something must be wrong?"
Ty Lee travelled through the secret passage to the Princesses chambers, she opened the panel and saw the room was completely lit, the Princess was dressed in her Royal armor, hair done up, crown in place, she looked as official as she could be.
"Azula, what's going on?" Ty Lee could tell from this whole situation something was off.
"The Fire Lord has called an emergency meeting, all the generals, ministers and advisors in the Capital have been called in and I was informed that I am to attend." Azula was looking at herself in the mirror, tugging at her armor that was not one hundred percent fitted.
"What for?"
"I wish I could tell you Ty Lee, but for him call a meeting this late and to invite me despite my age can only mean it is of the utmost importance."
Ty Lee looked around and saw Arkrez pacing across the room and hissing, he only did that when he sensed danger or was agitated. He was still growing at a tremendous pace and was looking them in the eye now.
"He nearly bit of head off the messenger, fool should have known to wait until I gave my permission to enter but it means that I have to hurry."
Azula walked over and with only a slight hesitation give her a kiss on her lips, Ty Lee kissed back for as long as she could. Her Princess pulled away and grasped her shoulders "Stay here with Arkrez, I don't how long I will be so go to sleep if you need to, I will tell you everything when I myself know." With that Azula made for the door and with final look back left for the meeting.
For her part Ty Lee sat on the bed and worried, Arkrez came over, sat by her feet and leaned his head on her lap. She ran her hand through the fur on the top of his head and scratched the scales under his jaw, she smiled as he purred.
"Oh Arky I can't just sleep, something horrible must have happened, maybe the colonies are under attack or maybe a giant lizard appeared, or we're sinking or…."
Arkrez let out a whine that Ty Lee interpreted as him saying she was being dumb again, she sighed "All right, I guess I should at least try to get to some shut eye then, Azula always says a good rest focuses the mind."
Ty Lee got up and started putting out the many candles around the room, it was much harder to do since she was not a Bender but she managed. As she laid down in Azula's bed she knew her "protector" was settling himself on the floor. He would rest but would also be alert, being able to sense the vibrations throughout the room.
She tried to get comfortable but worried, the last time Azula had been summoned unannounced was when they had been caught by Fire Lord Ozai and she had nearly fainted in terror. It turned out totally fine but she felt the same way now, but she knew Azula would be back soon so she performed some calming breathing exercises and drifted off.
She was apparently not in a deep sleep as her eyes opened the second she heard the door open, she looked towards the door and saw Arkrez already greeting his master, he was probably aware of her presence the moment Azula entered the hall outside.
Ty Lee tried to jump up but she wobbled on sleepily legs and got tangled in her sheets, she fell back down on the bed "It's okay Ty, the world has not come to an end…can you help me get this off?" Azula waved a hand and a few candles burst alight, she was try to tug her chest piece off but it seemed stuck.
More carefully his time Ty Lee moved the covers away and made her way to her girlfriend, she helped her fiddle with the clasps until they managed to get them undone. "Soooo, Is everything alright." Now that Ty Lee had Azula in her arms again she was curious, her Princess did not seem too disturbed.
"The Fire Sages have announced that the Avatar has returned." Azula said casually
Ty Lee nearly fell over "WHAT!"
The Princess grimaced "Inside voices Ty, I'm right here."
Ty Lee could not help herself, the Avatar was back and Azula was acting as if nothing was wrong. "But Azula, this is bad, right? I mean the Avatar is like, the biggest bad guy there is." Ty Lee remembered learning about the Avatar, how he or she was the greatest bender in the world, could bend all four elements, and was a mortal enemy of the Fire Nation.
Azula nodded, "That is correct Ty; the Avatar is powerful and will definitely be our enemy, one I will have the pleasure of fighting hopefully." The Princess had a devious smile on her face.
Ty Lee lifted the chest plate off Azula and examined her girlfriend's aura "There's something you're not telling me."
"I really despise how you can do that but yes, since the Avatar is such a threat, I have been promoted." Azula was practically beaming.
Ty Lee was confused, how does a Princess get promoted?
Azula looked at her and sighed "Instead of waiting another year my father decided that I am assume my full duties and authority immediately, understand now."
Ty Lee nodded slowly "Yeah, sort of, so, it's like you get to sit at the grown up table now, right."
Azula slammed her palm against her forehead but nodded "Yes Ty, I get to sit at the grown up table now, though how you managed to make that connection baffles me."
Ty Lee could see she had actually hurt her girlfriend's feelings, something she thought was impossible and she felt terrible. She wrapped her arms around Azula "I'm sorry Zula, I know this is an important thing for you and I really should understand it, please don't be sad."
She saw her girlfriend blush "I am not sad."
Ty Lee looked at her with a knowing look.
Azula rolled her eyes "Alright fine I guess I was… upset, but I accept your apology, I will just have to give you another lecture."
Ty Lee smiled, but then frowned once again "Zula I still think you're far too happy about this, I mean, this is really bad news."
The Princess shrugged "Perhaps, but I don't think it will be anything our nation can't handle, especially with me running things." Azula took off her armored skirt and placed it a large metal dresser specifically built for her armor.
"But Azula, the Avatar is supposed to be able to make volcanos erupt, cause tsunamis and all sorts of other bad things, don't you remember all the stories." Ty Lee was truly worried that her stubborn love was not taking this seriously.
Azula actually laughed at that "Oh come now Ty those are just stories and besides, even if the Avatar could bring the moon down on us we have contingencies in place." She removed her bracers and greaves before placing them on their corresponding spots in the dresser.
"Conting-whats?" Ty Lee hated when Azula used big words.
"Contingencies Ty, plans in case something like this happened so calm down, it's not like I will be setting out for war tomorrow."
Ty Lee pouted and crossed her arms "I would hope so, you say that like I won't be with you."
Azula looked at her with a curious expression "So you're saying, that if I were to head out, you'd be by my side."
Ty Lee was shocked "Of course Azula! I will never leave you, especially if you went to do something so dangerous." She was baffled that Azula would think she would turn and run at first hint of danger, Ty Lee admitted she was scared easily but she had made a promise to Azula and nothing, not Fire Lord Ozai, not some stupid Avatar and not even Azula herself could make her break it.
Azula had a genuine smile on her face, "Why don't you help me out of this under armor Ty, it still snags in places." Now Ty Lee had a slight blush, Azula had become much more physical over the past few months and her aura always became a blazing red when she did so.
"A-Alright" she walked over and helped take off the chainmail infused cloth that Azula wore underneath her heavy armor. As soon she had gotten the last piece off Ty Lee had to stop herself form gazing at her girlfriend's nearly naked form, standing only in her undergarments.
Azula had a smirk on her face as she reached up and took the crown from where it sat, her hair fell and she made her way to the vanity to place the crown in its own special case, Ty Lee could not help but notice the slight sway of her loves hips. "Bad Ty!.. But wow is her bum cute."
"Well Ty Lee it's late and we have a much to do over the next few days, why don't you put those eyes to rest." The pervy acrobat snapped out of staring and quickly nodded, Azula was now much more confident in this relationship and it drove Ty Lee crazy "Burn it, she used to be so ignorant!" She made her way to the hidden passage, splashing some cold water on her face when she got there would help.
"And where do you think you're going" Azula's authoritative voice stopped Ty Lee in her tracks. She looked back at the Princess, who had her arms crossed underneath her now uplifted chest. "Ummm" Ty Lee was too busy staring to answer.
Azula looked unimpressed and made a come hither motion with her finger, Ty Lee obeyed without a thought in her head. She stood in front of Azula who grinned and then promptly grabbed and tossed her onto the bed. Ty Lee landed on her back and watched at Azula undid the bindings on her chest wrap and silk bottoms, her eyes followed the garments as they hit the floor.
She swallowed as Azula leaned over and put her hands on either side of Ty Lee's head. "I think my bed it much more comfortable with you in it." Azula actually licked her lips after she spoke.
Ty Lee's face was a burning red "B-But you're naked!"
"Is that a problem?"
"Well no, but I though you s-"
"Ty Lee." Azula cut in. "Shut up" The Crown Princess kissed her and Ty Lee decided to follow orders.
As the candles were snuffed out by a wave of a hand, Arkrez moved over to the door and laid down against it, insuring his masters had privacy tonight.
