The Adventures of Scurry and Witness

Prologue - Ellisburg Redemption

In one world, a Jamie Rinke triggered as the Goblin King, and a Noelle as Echidna. In another, Ellisburg is annexed by Typhon, the Father of Monsters. Now, if that's not enough butterflies in the wind, add in protagonists where they shouldn't have been, and prepare for the zany adventures to come...

Sirens exploded out into the night as a field of rats swarmed over the space between two concentric walls, land mines exploding underneath the swarm as turrets on the outer wall fired hundreds of rounds into the seething mess, tossing even more debris and gore into the air. As the guards on the Eastern sector of the Ellisburg Containment Zone called for outside reinforcements and prepared themselves for what they believed to be war, and the beings inside the town all stopped and turned to look in the direction of the conflict, two figures hidden in shadow crept through the minefield to the north of the conflict, slipping though a tunnel in the field that popped up a mile and a half outside the outer wall.

By the time a geokinetic in the Protectorate noticed the tunnel and raised the alarm and a PRT van was found missing, the two were already gone in the wind.

"...and although we're not sure how it happened yet Robert, as the safely protocols should have held up, it appears that a horde of RATS chewed through..."

Hearing the door ring, the clerk looked down from the news streaming out from near the Ellisburg Containment Zone a few miles away, only to nearly swallow his tongue upon seeing the girl who'd just entered. She was about 15, just a year younger than him, and had short, spiky black hair and sun-tanned skin. She was tall for a girl, thin and lanky that promised height and beauty later in life, and was dressed in a pair of mud-covered jeans and a frayed Sex Pistols shirt, with an old leather jacket completing the ensemble. As she walked up to the counter, he noticed her eyes: the left brown, the right green...as well as the fact that, while not as gifted by the puberty faerie as some, she still had a nice set of boobs he wouldn't be adverse to getting to know.

Blinking, he realized that she was looking at him, eyebrow raised, waiting for a response to a question he had missed entirely.

"Sorry, what was that?" He squeaked. She smiled knowingly, causing him to flush.

"I said, do you know of any hotels nearby?" The girl said, smiling at him. "Me and my friends are having a road-trip, but we figured that we should stop for the night. However, we don't really know of anywhere to stay, so..."

"Oh, um..." He said haltingly, "There's a motel a few blocks away. It's the...uh, Rudger Motel. Get back onto Addams Street, go until you hit Bronson Avenue, and you'll see it on your right after two blocks."

She grinned widely at him, causing a blush to spread across his face. "Thanks!" She chirped. "Oh, and by the way, I'm sorry about this."

He frowned. "Wh-"

At that point, a 2x4 collided with the back of cashier Jacob Everett's head, removing him from consciousness for half an hour. When he awoke to Officer Myca Little, a constant customer, shaking him awake, he found the store lacking all $547.63 from the register, safe, and his wallet, not to mention about twenty Monster energy drinks, six associated family-size bags of chips, and every bag of beef jerky in the place.

I laughed as I looked over at Sarah, making sure to keep the van within the speed limit and, therefore, out of relative suspicion. Well, that's what Sarah had said to do anyways, and out of the two, she was the smarter one. For the moment, her friend and fellow escapee was getting some sleep in the passenger seat, head lolled and styling drooling slightly. As she looked back at the road, a smile crept over her face.

After I'd distracted the cashier enough for Sarah to knock him out and let us loot the place for cash and food, we'd gone searching for a new vehicle, the PRT vehicle most likely having some trackers in it, only to find a vehicle I fell in love with immediately. After that, Sarah had fallen asleep nearly immediately, tired out from using her powers so much so we could escape, and I'd gotten us on a road north, away from our former home, and towards endless freedom.

"We're free." Taylor Hebert whispered to herself as the elderly VW Bus they'd stolen from an abandoned barn chugged slowly on. "We are free."

Hello again all! I know, a rather quick work, considering I just put out the newest chapter of Chimaera less than a week ago, but I figured that I'd had this idea lurking around for a bit and I figured I'd get it out while the creative spirit was still around.

Alright, basic rundown: for those who don't know, this is set in the world of Worm, a web original by Wildbow that ended with about 1.5 MILLION words. In the mid 80's, a being by the name of Scion appeared, and not too long afterwards a wave of Parahumans appear across the world.

In this tale, two Parahumans, both big hitters (and major threats) triggered with each other's powers, and two of Canon Worm's protagonists are...changed. I won't really explain the *how*, as there should be enough details for those who know the universe to get the broad shifts, but the mid intricate details...well, those are coming soon.

The name, by the way, is a tip-of-the-head to 'Pinky and the Brain', who these two will be taking after in carrot various ways. The next chapter, if and when it comes out, will flesh out this universe (or at least the changes) a bit more.

Well, I'll leave you to this for now. Also, if you're willing to try, I'd read the Worm story itself; it's long, but worth it.
