Chapter 14. Some people fuck too loudly

The rain stopped when the clock hit midnight. Haru had her face buried in her pillow, trying to fall asleep, but no avail. Gokudera and Yamamoto were staying in the room next to her, and they weren't precisely trying to be discreet. Discretion wasn't really a word that could be applied to the Vongola Family. And the room at the other side? Kyoko and Tsuna. Haru knew for a fact that her friend was on her period (which is also prove of how much Tsuna sucked at planning vacations) but she also knew for a fact that period week meant blow job week.

Haru eventually gave up and went down to the kitchen for a glass of milk. The sound of the fridge door closing coincided with the sound of a male orgasm. Who it belonged to? That was a question she would rather leave unanswered.

Nights at the beach house were always melodic. The waves, crashing against the rocks at the bottom of the cliff. The crickets, the seagulls that hadn't gone to sleep yet. The buzzing noise that comes from a tv screen, one of those old tvs that aren't flat screen, result of the leftover electricity from being on the entire day. The songs of the drunk frat boys whose party is just getting started. The occasional mosquito, followed by the clap of an exasperated man trying to kill it. The "OH YEAH HARDER RIGHT THERE"…. There were a lot of sounds at night….

Haru grabbed her Dr. Who mug and walked outside the house. It's not like she had ever watched Dr. Who but it was a birthday present from Tsuna and just for that it deserved the title of 'favorite mug'.

"Can't sleep?" Hibari was already sitting on the porch, holding his own cup of coffee.

"Hibari-san… What are you doing here?" She sat down next to him.

"Ryohei is watching the new episode of Baby Daddy and I don't want to hear any spoilers."

"I didn't think you'd be into that sort of show…"

"There are many things you don't know about me."

Silence took over as they both stared at the horizon, or at what they thought was the horizon, cause it was pitch dark and they couldn't really see a thing.

"Then…" Haru finally spoke. "Tell me everything about yourself."

"No."

"Oh come on! Isn't it exhausting to be so secretive all the time?"

"The more you know about me, the least you'll like me."

"That's impossible. I like you way too much." The minute she said this she immediately covered her mouth with her hand.

"Yeah, but that's in your nature. You like everyone."

Haru let out a sigh. "No, you don't understand!" She thought, but then she decided to keep quiet about her feelings. It wasn't the right time to come clean about her stupid crush on this man that was way out of her league. So out of her league that he was playing a whole different sport.

"Look, this is something no one knows…" The brunette kept talking. Now that they finally had a moment alone she was going to do her best to keep the conversation going, and even better, to keep the conversation going her way. "When I was in middle school… I had the biggest crush on Tsuna-san."

Hibari stared at her for a solid minute. 'No one knows this' she said. As if. Everyone and their mothers knew about it.

"Hm. That's brand new information." He replied.

"It's embarrassing to admit now, but hey, we all have embarrassing crushes."

The cloud guardian stayed in silence. He was well aware of the game the girl was playing, and he had no intentions of letting her get away with it.

"Even you must have an embarrassing crush." She winked and poked his arm with her elbow. "You can tel me who~ I swear I won't tell anyone~"

"Tsuna."

"Hahi?"

"I also had a crush on him in middle school."

Haru's entire reality fell apart and only a soft "I'm kidding" was able to snap her out of her shock state.

"Well, someone is really in a joking mood lately~" She kept teasing the man.

"I'm in a good mood."

It was a simple sentence, but to Haru it felt like a whole new world. He was finally starting to open up to her, in his own way, and she felt like she wanted to hang on to this sentence forever, and forever would his voice sound inside her head.

"Hibari-san."

"What?"

"Tell me a secret."

"I can't stand spicy food."

"What else?"

"I have socks with an alien pattern."

Haru stared at him with a smile spread across her face. His secrets were so innocent and yet so revealing.

"I took a baking course last year." He talked slowly, and his voice cracked sometimes. That's how tired he was. And maybe it's because he was tired that he started telling the girl the full list of his deepest and darkest secrets. "I cried the first time I got a boner cause I was scared and I didn't know what was happening to me. I had a dog when I was a kid, and when it died it made me so sad that I refused to have another pet until Hibird. Sometimes I'm afraid of being alone. Tsuna… is someone I care about. And so is Dino. Actually, I think they're the first people that genuinely wanted me around and I still can't wrap my head around that… I was the one who got up in the middle of the night and ate Lambo's pudding… and I did it on purpose."

The brunette started laughing so hard she ended up clutching her stomach and wiping the tears off her eyes.

"I can't believe you." She said. "You were the one who said you weren't going to tell me anything about yourself, but once you stared talking… Oh boy. I am so telling Lambo it was you!"

"Go ahead. I dare you." Hibari smacked Haru softly on the head. It only made her laugh harder, and if he had known a way to make her laugh ever more he would have done it. It was a sound he would never get tired of, and it covered the moans that came from the inside the house.

"Ok, ok! I'll keep quiet. I promise."

Her giggles faded as she rested her head on Hibari's shoulder. She took a deep breath and he felt his heart stop.

Maybe it was because he was tired.

The same way his words had acted on their own a moment earlier, his arm moved by its own free will and wrapped itself around the brunette's shoulder, bringing her closer to him.

"You know," she said. "I want you to tell me your secrets more often."

There was a long pause. His fingers played with the sleeve of Haru's T-shirt. A plain white tee that had once belonged to him, but not anymore. The pause grew longer. Until, finally.

"I want you to marry me."

Silence.

"Hahi?"

Silence.

"Calm down… I didn't mean it…" Hibari let go of her. He was so ashamed of himself for saying that, but he was even more ashamed for taking it back after her more than natural reaction."

"I…" Haru got up and gave three steps back. "Hibari-san… This is so sudden… I'll… I'LL THINK ABOUT IT."

She bowed down and ran back inside the house, leaving her possible fiancé sitting on the porch and staring at the darkness ahead of him once again.

"Hey," A voice came from behind him. "At least she didn't say no."

Hibari turned around and found the young boss, leaning against a wall, grinning and wiggling his eyebrows like an idiot.

"I'll beat you up."

"Good. This will make a great story to tell to my therapist."

Ok. After a long time with out updating (shocker) im back. I've been writing this during class so forgive any mistakes you find. And I guess I'll update again when I figure out how to develop things from here. But fear not, I will finish this fic even if it's the last thing I do.

Until next chapter!
