AN: New chapter! Yaay! I'm pretty sure I've said before that I've prewritten all of these chapters, but I've been getting loads of reviews saying how I should give Ink a few more problems, well I have! I went back and started to give Ink a little bit of fear and doubts of stuff here and there, and it will eventually mount up. Now I like my character Ink, and personally, I'm not a fan of terribly angsty fanfics and giving characters a hard time. So Ink's problems won't be as major as some other characters you've read before. Just warning ya! Anyway, enjoy!

Chapter fifteen

I almost couldn't believe it. We were almost there. We were flying at 45,000 feet inside of a pressurised metal container, which was speeding over the lands of America to Canada at 550 miles per hour. We had got to the airport with no attacks from HYDRA (thank the gods) and the plane hadn't been shot out of the sky.

I tried to tell myself: relax, everything's ok, no one's coming after us. But I couldn't. That little pessimistic voice in my head said that it could turn bad at any moment. That HYDRA would attack and I would end up dying a horrible death. Lovely.

So, as I stared out of the window of the first class seat, I tried to imagine that I was going on a holiday to the middle of nowhere; that I was doing it for fun and not running for my life.

And that I didn't have Deadpool tagging along with me.

"Are we there yet?" He asked for what seemed like the millionth time. I sighed. Luckily his disguise had held up, so had mine. No one had questioned the passports. No one had raised an eyebrow at the fake credit card with an infinite amount of money on it.

"I don't know," I replied. My voice was higher than usual, and it was bugging me. It made me sound so weak, and I was not use to that. "Ask one of the air hostess' or something."

Wade made a face. He still wasn't use to the whole you have a normal face for the time being thing.

Instead of making him do something he obviously didn't want to do, I changed the subject.

"So where is this 'totally remote out of the way cabin' thing?" I quoted.

"Totally remote and out of the way," Wade said.

"That's not helping." I muttered.

"Look I don't exactly remember, I have a bit of a memory problem, but I know the way there, I guess. I dunno but trust me, I know." He told me confidently.

I blinked a couple times. "That doesn't make sense."

"I know right, but they know what I'm talking about." He said and jerked his thumb over his shoulder to somewhere. There was no one behind him that I could see.

"... W-what?" I asked in utter confusion.

"Eh, never mind. You won't get it."

"You're right, I don't." I shook my head. Deadpool was crazy. "You honestly don't know where we're going?" I asked.

"Nope." He said.

I stopped myself from sighing; again. We had had this conversation before... well minus the talking to no one bit. I could never be sure with Wade, whether he was telling the truth about the whole not remembering thing or if he was lying for some unknown reason. All I knew was that I was heading to a place that was known by no one with someone who was so crazy that he didn't make sense half the time.

Sinking back into the wide luxury seat, I kept staring out of the plane window and tried to relax. Granted, it was pitch black outside and I couldn't really see anything, but I needed some form of rest. I would just have to try at relaxing.

My mind wondered. Instead of relaxing, like it was supposed to do, it turned in the direction of my powers. My powers. Many people said there was no way I could simply have all of this magic and energy without some kind of hitch. Well the truth was there was a hitch. There were a lot of hitches.

The main one was that I couldn't use all of my powers at once. I couldn't use magic or operate my paper power in my Jotun form. I just didn't have enough energy in my body to power all of them. If I tried to do something like then I would probably pass out. Magic is incredibly draining. It also links to my two other powers. I need magic to kick start me forming in to my Jotun body and then out again. I needed magic to bring all of the drawings to life.

Also through magic, I was connected with Yggdrasil. I could always feel it, just under the surface of everything. Yggdrasil connected all of the reality of the nine realms together. I could never feel truly alone when I could feel Yggdrasil. But sometimes that wasn't enough. I knew that there were people suffering out there; people who couldn't feel the warmth of Yggdrasil and were utterly alone. I felt terrible when I thought about it because I couldn't help them. And I wanted to. I desperately wanted to help everyone I could.

And now look at me. Running away from my life because something was threatening it. I felt like a coward. I probably was a coward as well. I might be a hero for the big things but I was too much of a coward to stop the little things: world hunger; the fact that children didn't have any clean water and diseases that could be so easily cured with the help of magic. And why was I scared?

Because of Asgard. I was scared of Asgard saying no, and throwing me in their stupid immortal prison for the rest of my life. I had seen it done before. So many times, but one stuck out the most. I had lost a friend, or maybe he was more than that. I had lost him and it was due to Asgard's stupid intervention. If they hadn't come charging in... Well it's safe to say I wouldn't be on this plane right now.

"Hey, Ink, are you ok?" Wade asked.

I glanced back at him. I must have been looking about as miserable as I felt. I gave him a little smile. "I'm fine, just a little tired." I lied.

When we got to the airport and the plan had finally landed, my legs were asleep and I was sick and tired of air turbulence. On the up side, Wade had stopped asking 'are we there yet?'

Both of us were on edge whilst waiting for our bags on the carrousel. I didn't like the rush of the airport. I wasn't a very well travelled person. Apart from being in New York and Manchester, I hadn't really been anywhere. Sure there were the few days when the care home managed to scrape enough money together to take us to a trip to the sea side, but that happened once, maybe twice, a year. I had loads of places that I wanted to go, like Norway for example. I wanted to ride Drakki through the sky when the Northern Lights appeared. But I was facing a problem: if I didn't like airports, how would I get anywhere? There was no way I was going to make Hiss and Drakki fly me the thousands of miles to get to my destination, even though they would love being in the air for that long.

Maybe one day, when this was all over, I would just move to Scandinavia. Get back to my roots of being the daughter of a Norse god and live my life in peace. That sounded nice.

"I don't like this." Wade said in my ear. "There are too many people around. We need a new plague."

"I don't like it either." I said. "And to be honest, there aren't that many people around." I said. "Let's just grab to luggage and go."

I spotted my suit case coming around and lurched to grab it. Another hand got in the way.

I gasped and jerked away, seeing the light glance off what I thought was a metal arm. I tensed for the worse. I could feel Wade do the same thing behind me.

I was met by a very surprised man in a very smart, and probably expensive, suit. The metal arm I had seen was a watch.

"Whoa!" He said, "I was just trying to get my bag."

"Sorry, I thought you were someone else." Someone with a metal arm, I said in my head and flicked a ginger curl out of my face. I was about three inches shorter than him, but I stared the guy in the eyes.

"Don't worry about it." The man I had mistaken for the Winter Solider had an American accent, which made me wonder why he was up in Canada. Everything about this guy was trim and proper. His blond hair was neat and short; carefully styled to one side. There was a light in his blue eyes which I didn't like one bit.

His eyes flickered to glance at something behind me. I looked; Wade had taken up an offensive position behind me and was glaring at the man.

"But tell your boyfriend to back off."

"Oh what?" I asked, spinning back round. "He's not my boyfriend." I said almost on reflex.

"Thanks." Wade muttered behind me.

"That's great then. Wanna have a drink with me?" He asked, the guy's mood changing instantly.

I blinked. "No, we have to be somewhere." I said.

"Really? Just one drink?" He asked.

"No, I don't even know who you are!" I said and took my suit case from the carrousel. I also grabbed Wade's and then stormed off in a huff. I was surprised that Wade followed instead of just killing the guy right there.

We got outside and I was hit by the sudden cold after the stuffy heat of the terminals. I struggled to keep my Jotun form from bursting out and completely blowing our cover. I shivered. Why did we have to come up here in the end of autumn? Why couldn't it be the middle of summer?

"So, where to now?" I asked Wade.

"There's a small cabin in the middle of the woods." He said. "It's been abandoned for ages, so no one really knows about it."

"So how do you know about it then?" I asked.

"Always have a super secret backup of the backup plan that no one knows about: works every time." He said. It wasn't much of an answer.

"How do we get there?" I asked and gazed around the city.I knew Labaradore was tiny for a city, but I was only begging to grasp why. It was early morning, and not a lot of people were around. There was a continuous stream of people coming from the air port, but even that dispersed quickly. Not surprising seeing as it was freezing.

"Well I'm not walking." Wade said. "Just steal a second hand car or something, no one will care. Who even drives second hand cars anyway?"

"We're not stealing anything. That would blow our cover." I said.

"And we don't want to do that because..?"

I gave him my 'use your brain' look. I needed a person who looked like they had lived in Labrador all their life. I gazed across the street and my eyes fell upon a woman walking a gigantic dog. She had a large coat, snow boots and just about everything else to survive this place. Oh and the dog also had a coat. Bingo.

"Excuse me?" I asked when I caught up to her. She turned around and I put on my best 'I really need help' face.

"Yes, miss?" She asked.

"I was wondering if you could tell me where the closest second hand car shop is." I said, making my green eyes as doey as I could, it worked better with brown eyes, but I couldn't be bothered to change them.

"Oh of course dear," She said. She turned away and pointed down a street. "It's right down there. Take a right and you should see it on your left. It's very difficult to miss." She turned back to face me. "Do you need me to walk you down there?"

How old did she think I was? Instead I smiled and shook my head. "No I'm ok thanks."

"Oh, I love your accent. Where are you from?"

"Manchester." I said with my accent. I glanced behind me. Wade was still here, which was good. "Thank you for your help."

"Any time, dear." She said.

I walked back to Wade. He eyed the woman as we walked off. "She's too nice. What is with Canadian people?"

"They're just nice." I said. "There are people like that you know. It kind of reminds me of the nicer places in Manchester."

"I guess I've forgotten what other people are like. I've been in New York too long. New York has too many freaks in it as well." He said.

"Of course you've forgotten." I said. I wrapped my coat tighter. I needed more warm clothes. If I wasn't going to be in my Jotun form here, then I was going to be miserable.

We walked into the second hand shop and the short walk there had considerably worsened my mood. I had already seen the car I wanted, or truck. It was battered and bruised, but it was going cheap. I decided that I was going to let Wade take this one. I tried to make my appearance look a little less grouchy; I was going for cute and senseless with this disguise.

"Which is the most reliable car we can buy for the least amount of money?" Wade said.

The guy behind the counter blinked. "Well we have many different models of on offer."

"I don't care." Wade said. "We need something that would get us to the middle of the woods and back multiple times."

I didn't even want to say how wrong that sounded.

"I would recommend the pickup then." The guy said. I knew which one he was talking about.

"We'll take it." I said.

"You don't want a test drive first?"

"No." I said. I handed over the credit card. "Here."

"Are you sure you want to-"

"Just give us the damn car!" Wade said.

After a lot of arguing and a bit of threatening, we were in a rusty old pickup truck, heading to a secluded cabin in the woods. I still had no idea where it was, Wade was driving, but I felt safe; or as safe as you could be when running from HYDRA with a crazy mercenary for hire.

Although snow covered everything, and it was miserably cold, I found the forest we drove through beautiful. The leaves had already dropped off the trees and left them bare. Thick snow covered all, even on the spindly branches of the trees. Even though it rushed past, too fast to see, I knew that there were spider's webs which were covered in frost. I loved autumn and winter. Being half Frost Giant, I was in my element. I felt that I was going to like it here.

The heating was on full blast in the cab of the truck, which had warmed my numb toes. I drew a frost pattern on the window. I wasn't in my Jotun form but I could control small amounts of frost and ice in small ranges, even with the heating on high. The frost spread across the window and created feather like shapes. I controlled the frost to make the outline of three creatures. The three creatures I had left behind.

Wade drove and managed to talk at the same time. And here I though men couldn't multitask. We chatted, I guess. Just passing the time until we got to where ever the cabin was. Wade had said that it wasn't too far away, but I was getting kind of impatient. I kept my mouth shut about it though. I knew I was going to have to live with Wade for a while whilst we hid. In that case I hoped the cabin had two bedrooms.

It would be awkward if it didn't.
