Lux leaned forward, just a bit too far to be just a casual conversation. Ahsoka laughed, eyes sparkling with amusement. Her montrals were flushed, she leaned towards him and gave Lux a dazzling smile.
Rex pressed his jaws shut, quietly grinding his teeth in frustration.
The boy, Rex refused to call him young man, leaned forward, quietly whispering something into her ear.
Rex's hands found their ways to his blasters, quietly gripping them.
It was more than obvious there was chemistry between the two teenagers and Rey didn't like it one bit.
Fives, right by his commanders side, leaned towards his captain. "So, what is grinding your gears Captain?"
Rex didn't need to say anything, one look was enough to make the chipper ARC practically snap to attention. "If you allow my question Sir!" He shouted out, Rex raised an eyebrow, almost expecting Fives to give him a salute as well.
Rex suppressed a grin. Shinies were easy to scare into submission, but to make a seasoned Arc cower like that took skill. He still had it.
A trilling laugh sounded, making clones look up all across the courtyard. Rey exhaled slowly, counting to ten before looking over to Fives.
"I don't like it Fives." He forced out, his fingers almost caressing the grip of his pistols as he watched Lux, he rang with himself to even think the word, flirt.
Fives looked surprised. "Why sir?" He asked, already shaking of the shock of Rex's tone.
Rex shook his head, buying some time till he answered. " She is, our commander." He said finally, feeling like he said only half of what he wanted to say.
"And?" Fives asked.
This time it was Rex who evaded Fives as he looked to the side.
"She should not," he motioned towards to two laughing teens, "act that way." Rey finished, not quiet knowing how to express his feelings. "She is a Jedi, our Commander and."
Re trailed of, not knowing how he should continue.
Fives sighed; then stepped closer to his captain, daring to lay a hand on his shoulder.
"Rex, Sir, she has come a long way since the youngling we met on Christophsis."
He said quietly before giving his captain's shoulder a squeeze and leaving for the barracks.
Rex continued watching, growing more frustrated by the moment as Lux and Ahsoka became closer by the moment. Where was her Master?
"Snips!" Skylwalker's voice echoed across the place, making several shinies drop whatever it was they were carrying.
Ahsoka jerked upright, was sprinting halfway across the yard before she turned around, shouted, waved, laughed and send a blinding smile towards Lux. Rex felt a pang of hurt in his heart. "See you tonight than Lux!" She called, happier than Rex had ever seen her. The clone drew upright, coming to a decision, even though it hurt.
The boy stared at her, star struck smile on his face.
Rey waited until Ahsoka had disappeared around a corner, then strode to Lux, put a hand on the boy's shoulders and spun him around.
The clone bend forward until his breath hit Lux's face and growled, "you better carry her on hands boy."
He watched with satisfaction as Lux seemed to shrink.
"Because you make her cry, I make you cry."
Rex watched with satisfaction as Lux started stammering, stepped backwards and practically ran from the GAR grounds.
The captain straightened up, tugged his armor plates into place and smiled. He did not expect to see the young man again.
Later that night when Ahsoka strolled out of her chambers Rex stood next to the compound gates, silently grinning at himself.
The young padawan laughed, giddy with anticipation, pushing her montrals this way, then that.
Rex stepped forward, almost ready to tell her Lux wouldn't come when a small call-cab arrived.
It held right in front of them
Ahsoka pulled a face. " I don't think we expected anyone."
As Rex grabbed his blasters. Lux stepped out of the cab a nd gave Ahsoka a flourishing bow.
Rex was seriously tempted to draw the blasters, but one look at Ahsoka's face stalled his hand.
He cleared his throat, stepped forward, caught Lux's eyes.
"You better bring her back at nine boy."
