I was falling asleep when Henrik shook me slightly. "Hey, you promised." He said. He'd lied down in my arms tonight so he could easily do as I said… I sighed. I nodded and nudged him with my head, indicating that he needed to stand up. He did and I got up after him, not having to be as careful as him because I'd been used to this, HAD gotten used to this.

"Follow me and don't fall behind." I warned. He nodded and stayed right behind me. I opened the bedroom door and opened it so quietly, not even I heard it. I smiled at my amazement. I would no longer have to worry about squeaking the door open.

I walked over to the front door, having closed the door after Henrik, and opened it just the same way I did the bedroom door. He left first and I closed the door after me. I walked out and stretched. "You're going to have to keep up even more now. Okay? Got it?"

"Yes Niky. I got you." I nodded and faced the way I was supposed to and took off as fast as possible. Henrik ran right after me and after a while, we reached the area, the shrubby wooded area and all the wolves were there by now.

"You see them and now let's go. Before we're spotted."

"No. I want to watch them like you do. Why are they just sitting there?" He said, sitting down. I sat down with him and crossed my arms, leaning against one of the trees. I waited and he finally spoke again when they began to sing.

"Why are they howling?"

"It's a wolf thing, okay?" I shot at him. I was furious with him and his curiosity. "We're going to have to go home soon or Mom and Dad will be furious with us." I tried.

"Well you could talk to them right?" I moaned. "Please? I mean this thing seems to almost be over." Then I heard the worst thing I could EVER hear. A low, angry growl. I looked around to see a wolf crouched, ready to pounce us. 'Why do I always get myself into these situations?!' I stood up, grabbed a stick and smacked it in the face with the stick.

"Back! Don't you DARE touch him." I growled. The other wolves began to gather and I gulped in fear. A blonde wolf ran and turned his back on us, growling at the other wolves. The others tried to get past him but he snarled and jumped in the way. He turned to glare at me. Dad?! I backed up, even more afraid than before. This was a horrible mistake. What the hell had I done?!

"Why don't you RUN?" he demanded. I tried to but I couldn't take more than one step back. Henrik was behind me and I was standing, shaking with fear. We were dead. So dead! If we didn't get killed by them, we'd be killed by Mikael. I tried to open my mouth to tell Henrik to run but nothing came out. My mouth couldn't even open.

I felt tears begin to fall down my face then in an instant I was over my Father's back and he was running. Running fast. Away from the wolves. Away from Henrik. I looked back to see Henrik running. I began to sob. I tried to get off him but my sleeve was caught in his mouth.

"Dad! Stop! We need to go back, Henrik will be killed. Daddy! Stop! STOP! PLEASE!" I begged, saying anything I could think of that might make him turn and go save Henrik. "Dad! We HAVE to go back! He's here because of me. If he dies! I'll NEVER forgive myself. Dad PLEASE! PLEASE DAD!" His only reply was to run faster. I laid my face in his fur and began to sob, crying for Henrik.

"I'll go back for him, I promise okay. But FIRST I must get you safe." I shook my head.

"This is ALL MY FAULT." I sobbed, screaming.

"No this is my fault Niklaus. I could have done something but now that this happened, a new string of events, terrible events are about to take place." Terrible? What's going to happen? What's going on? "Promise me you'll be safe Niklaus." He demanded gently as he plopped me onto the ground.

"Dad, PLEASE!" He licked my face clean of every tear and turned to me.

"STAY HERE, that is a DIRECT ORDER. I need to go save your friend."

"He's NOT my FRIEND, he's my BROTHER! And I killed him."

"No you didn't. Now STAY HERE."

"Fine. I'll stay here. But… you have to promise to bring him back."

"And I will but staying here, talking about it isn't getting anything done." He licked my face again. "I LOVE you Niklaus. Remember that will you?" I nodded, hugging him. He hugged me back before kissing my cheek once more before turning and running off.

I pulled my knees up to my chest, wrapped my arms around me and began to sob. The only thought that kept repeating in my head was 'What have I DONE?!' I sobbed and kept going until I heard a horrible cry, a terrible howl coming from somewhere. I looked up. Father?! I got up and headed toward the howl I'd heard, running at full speed. I tripped several times but still I got up and ran over to where I'd heard the howl come from.

When I got there I found a body. I fell to the ground and searched desperately. Who was it? Who was it?! WHO WAS IT?! I noticed three large cuts on the body, a SMALL body. Henrik! Henrik was dead! I dropped onto his body, crying desperately.

After a while I was too tired out to cry anymore. I needed to get him home. I needed to see if mom could bring him back. She's a witch. She's a witch. She can bring him back. I stood up and grabbed him, carrying him in my arms back to the village.

When I got back to the village, it was morning. I didn't even care if they were upset I'd left the house at night, I didn't care if they were furious. I only wanted my mom, so I screamed for her.

"MOTHER!"

The first one to answer was Rebekah. "Henrik!" I felt my chest heave as I was finally answered, and people began to know what happened.

"MOTHER!" I laid Henrik on the floor and sat back. Rebekah arrived followed by Ayanna and Esther. Elijah came running for us.

"NO! What happened?"

"The wolves. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." I sat down and began to cry again, listening to them talk.

"We must save him. Please there must be a way."

"The spirits will not give us a way Esther. Your boy is gone." Rebekah patted my arm and began to run her fingers through my hair.

"No! NO! NO! NO!"

What had I done?! This is all my fault. This is all my fault. My fault. What have I done?
