~Wow its been way too long since I updated. Thanks for being patient with me. Enjoy.~
LAUREN
"Laur are you even listening to me?"
"Sorry Em, what were you saying?" I looked over at my cousin who rolled her eyes and continued talking about some guy she was dating. I was happy to see her, I really was. I had a great time at dinner; we always had a great time together. But the whole time I was with her I couldn't help but think about Bo. Normally we would have spent hours at a bar laughing at how amazed people would be when they heard her English accent, but not this time. I suggested we spend the rest of our evening on campus; she hesitated but eventually gave in when I reminded her she would be able to see Kenzi.
"Lauren! We're here, get your head out the clouds yeah?" I blinked a few times and smiled sheepishly at the cab driver. I handed him the fair and stepped out of the car.
"Sorry Emma… So listen, there's something I uhm…" She linked arms with me and we headed to the dorms.
"Who is she?" I looked into her green eyes
"How do you know there's a she?"
"You've been distracted all night, and you keep blushing every time I catch you in one of your daydreams." I signed her into the dorms and pulled her along with me
"Just this once you're right, don't let it go to your head. Her name is Bo and I'm pretty sure I'm in love with her." I felt my arm being yanked back wards as I was spun around to face my cousin.
"What did you say?" She looked at me with focused eyes as if she was studying me, checking to see if I looked different than I did four minutes ago.
"Don't be so dramatic Em." I spun on my heel and walked towards Kenzi's building. I heard Emma laugh and then run to catch up with me
"I'm just surprised that my little cousin who does nothing but study and read medical books for fun is in love. How long have you guys been dating?" I nervously tucked my hair behind my ear
"I said I was pretty sure I was in love with her… And that's the crazy part, we only met four or five days ago, and I don't even think were dating… I mean we're something but dating seems to casual a term to describe whatever is going on between us." I opened the door and let her inside the old building. We walked in silence the rest of the way. I knew she was letting my words sink in, I was too nervous to look at her. She was someone I've always looked up to, and I cared about her opinion. I could feel her eyes on me as I unlocked Kenzi's door and stepped inside. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw it was empty, I wasn't ready to face Kenzi and Bo just yet. I heard the door close with a click and waited for her to speak.
"How much do you know about her?" I stared out the window and mentally prepared myself for a thousand questions.
"Enough." I saw her sit on my desk from the corner of my eye she crossed her legs and looked at me
"She's a student here?"
"Yes." I answered with a huff
"Bo, that's an odd name for a girl."
"I guess so."
"Where is she from?" She questioned
"Emma…" I looked over at her and begged her to end the interrogation
"Love huh?" she questioned
"It feels like it." She sighed heavily
"You trust her?" I looked into her green eyes and nodded my head
"I do."
"And is she, does she feel the same way about you?"
"We're on the same page."
"Okay then. You know I hate playing the protective parent card but I'm just looking out for you." I grinned at her
"I know, and I appreciate Em. I know how crazy I sound, and how uncharacteristic this is for me, but I can't help it. I'm in love with her, she's kind hearted, she's witty and goofy at the same time, breathtakingly beautiful with eyes that tell you exactly what she's thinking, she's smart in every sense of the word, she's incredibly driven, you get the sense that when she wants something she doesn't stop until she has it. I don't know how to explain it, I mean I honestly couldn't begin to put into words how I feel…" I drifted off losing my train of thought. I was in love with Bo Dennis, I kept saying the words in my head over and over again.
"You got it bad." I looked up at her and we laughed, I felt the nerves and tension fall away.
"You wanna meet her?" She nodded her head.
"She's probably hanging out with Kenzi, which means they're probably drunk by now."
Kenzi opened the door and lunged into my arms.
"LO! You're back finally!" She was definitely buzzed. She squealed when she saw Emma standing behind me. I shook my head and let them have their moment out in the hallway. I took my coat and scarf off and took in the scene before me. The entire room was covered in blankets. I moved a sheet and stepped into the well-crafted fort. It was big enough that you could stand up straight and not worry about the whole thing coming down on you. The centerpiece was the mysterious Christmas tree from the other night, the lights on the tree created a warm glow and the blankets surrounding it made it cozy. Bo was sitting on the pile of blankets and pillows peeling the label of a bottle of tequila that looked like it was almost empty.
"Whose there Kenzi?" She looked up and grinned at me. I walked over to her and offered her a hand up which she happily took.
"I see you've been busy." I teased as I hung my arms over her shoulders.
"It was Kenzi's idea, or maybe it was mine? We were bored." She rested her hands on my lower back and pulled me close.
"Emma's outside with Kenzi." I moved a piece of hair away from her eyes
"I missed you, is that weird to say? I mean I know you only went out to dinner but the whole time you were gone I missed you like crazy. You would think that watching Kenzi consume most of that bottle of tequila and building whatever this is that I'd be fully occupied but I wasn't. I kept thinking about you, it's stupid and it might be the alcohol talking but I can't seem to stop talking." I pressed my lips against hers silencing her adorable ramblings. Like every kiss with Bo it became heated, tongues met, teeth clashed, hands wandered, and the rest of the world was ignored.
"Guys seriously it's been 3 maybe 4 hours." Kenzi's voice broke my trance. I separated from Bo and watched as she licked her lips and winked at me. I turned around introduced Bo to Emma. It was awkward at first but the four of us finally settled into a rhythm.
We sat near the tree forgoing furniture. Kenzi was trying to teach Emma how to speak Russian, which was extremely entertaining.
"So how was dinner?" I moved my focus to Bo
"It was good, would have been better if you went." She rolled her eyes and took my hand in hers
"Maybe next time… So when are you heading home?" I had actually forgotten that I would have to go home in a few days.
"Saturday morning." She smiled and kissed my hand even though I knew she wanted to pout about it.
"24 hours…" She replied
"We've got a little more time than that, give or take 30."
"Because that's so much better Lauren." I liked Bo buzzed she was very blunt, almost childlike.
"When are you heading home?"
"After I say bye to you?"
"Sounds like a plan. You uh wouldn't want to come visit me over break would you?" I tucked my hair behind my ear and hoped Bo couldn't feel my palms sweating. She lifted my chin and kissed my cheek
"I'd love to."
"Yo BoBo someone's knocking and they sound impatient."
BO
I stood up and took a second to balance myself before going to open the door.
"Sawyer, I'm gunna kill you." I yelled out. She was so impatient when I didn't answer her within three seconds. I smiled back at Lauren and swung open the door.
"Hey Bo, you look great." I looked up into his blue eyes and slammed the door shut.
"Bo, who was that?" Lauren was out of the fort and by my side the minute the door shut, concern in her voice.
"It was no one." She looked at the door and then at me
"You're sure?"
"I'm sure." It came out harsher than I wanted it to but I was pissed that he thought he could just knock on my door. Almost as if he read my mind the knocking started back up
"Babe, come on can't we talk?" I rolled my eyes and went to sit back down but Lauren grabbed my wrist
"Tommy?" She asked calmly
"Yeah, just ignore him he'll go away."
"Bo, I'm sorry I know I screwed up but it was a long time ago lets move past it." I gritted my teeth together in an effort to control my rising temper. Lauren looked at me with nervous eyes
"Maybe you should answer it, just tell him to go away?"
"I don't want waste my breath Lauren." I was irritated now
"Tommy, go away!" I shouted back at him. He replied with more knocking. Lauren looked at me again and I could tell how uncomfortable she felt
"Oh, what the hell." I said as I opened the door.
"Hi gorgeous." That stupid grin of his, the way his hair fell around his eye everything about him was perfect, well except his personality.
"What do you want?" I huffed. He leaned on the doorway and looked me up and down in way that made me want to gag.
"You of course. Listen I know I cheated but I didn't mean to I-" I couldn't contain the laugh
"You didn't mean to cheat? Seriously? You're a dick Tommy." He looked at me like he couldn't believe that I could say something so horrible about him.
"Come on Bo, we weren't that serious."
"Yeah you're right seven months really isn't a big deal." I felt Lauren's eyes on me but couldn't bring myself to look at her.
"Listen I don't know what's going on with you and Blondie here, I'm sure its fun but you know you miss me. I know you miss our crazy nights together, I definitely do." I glared at into his piercing blue eyes whishing I could make him disappear
"Cut the crap Tom it's me you're talking to not some random girl. I know you and I know you're just bored, tomorrow you'll forget all about me." I closed the door and locked it. I turned to see Kenzi and Emma staring at me while Lauren was looking at her feet.
"So that was fun."
"You dated him?" I looked at the older blonde and shrugged my shoulders
"I did.." Emma stared at me and I could see the wheels turning, Lauren got the same look on her face when she was deep in thought.
"Well I say we head to my room and kill some robots!" Kenzi led Emma out of the room and left Lauren and me alone.
"I'm sorry about that, are we okay?" I handed Lauren her coat and watched as she wrapped her scarf around her neck
"I just wasn't expecting a visit from Mr. Perfect… Of course we're okay."
"He's not perfect, he's an ass and in love with himself… You on the other hand are the closest thing to perfect I've ever seen." She smirked at me and I knew we were okay. I kissed her on the cheek and we made our way to Kenzi's. Halfway there we ran into Sawyer.
"Hey guys, Bo can I talk to you?" My best friend was out of breath like she had been in a rush; I looked at Lauren and back to the dark haired women in front of me
"Go for it." Her eyes darted to Lauren before she looked at me with a pleading look.
"Our friend Greg Peters is here." That caught my attention.
"Lauren, do you mind if I catch up with you in a few?" Lauren smiled at me and kissed my cheek before disappearing down the hallway. I turned to Sawyer who now had my full attention.
"What's wrong?" Now that I got a good look at her she was a wreck. There was snow in her hair but she was sweating, her eyes were tired and she was still catching her breath.
"Just come with me?"
"Sure, lets get going." I replied back to her. She led me out of the building and towards the center of campus. I was curious as to what was going on but I knew I couldn't ask any questions.
Greg Peters wasn't here, it's a code we came up with when we were kids that we hadn't used since we were in the 11th grade. In the fifth grade a boy name Greg had a huge crush on Sawyer and when you're 11 years old and a boy likes you that's a big deal. When we were in public and needed to talk to each other in private we would say that our friend Greg was here. When we got a little older and were sneaking boys into our bedrooms we would ask for each other's help, no questions asked. That was our deal as best friends. You didn't use the code unless it was serious.
I was the last one to use Greg Peters. I needed to get a girl out of my bedroom before my dad caught us. My dad didn't know I was bisexual and neither did Sawyer at that point. I was 17 and having anyone in my bed was a huge no, especially since my dad was drunk most of the time and had a temper. He came home earlier than I expect and I need to get the girl out of my bedroom with out my dad noticing. I called Sawyer and told her that Greg Peters was at my house and I needed her to come drive him home. She said okay and was at my house in 1o minutes. She drove to my window and took my friend home, while I distracted my Dad. Even though I hadn't told her liked girls she was there to help me no questions asked because that's what we agreed to do as best friends. We talked about it a few days later and she said she wasn't all that surprised but had wished I had told her sooner. We hadn't used Greg since that day. It was a good code and I had forgotten all about it until now. I wondered what using the code meant in college. To be continued…
~I apologize if there are mistakes or things don't make sense I've only looked over it once, I just wanted to get it out there. I'll probably go back and do some editing.
The next chapter will pick up the pace as I've decided exactly where the story is going. I hope you enjoyed it, and feel free to leave a review or tweet me. Until next time!~
