A/N: It's been a while since I updated my story! So here you go! I hope you guys enjoy!
Sam looked around, trying to locate the source of the shaking, it was obvious to him that it was coming from the top of the building, which was very concerning as Jules and Sadie were higher up. He started towards the stairs to try and get to Jules, it almost felt like he was swimming through all the people, the lobby was tumultuous with all the people trying to get to there loved ones. Sam heard his name and looked around to see Jules coming towards him, holding Sadie up so that she didn't get trampled; Sam started shoving his way through the crowd to get to her and wrapped her in a hug when he got to her.
"Come on, let's get out of here and call Sarge, maybe he can help us find out what's going on." Sam yelled above the roar of terror from other people. Sam felt a nudge against his leg and looked down to see that his dogs had also managed to make there way down with Jules. Sam started shoving his way towards the exit; he looked up to see Ben trying to find his way through the crowd. "Follow us!" Sam called to him, and kept his eyes on him until he saw him nod in acknowledgement and start to push his way towards them. Sam turned and started to push his way out, the stench of sweat from so many people combining with the heavy presence of dust and smoke in the air making it difficult to breathe.
It seemed like hours before he was able to push his way out of the doors illuminated with a bright red exit sign. He squinted against the sun, it was bright compared to the darkness inside, but he quickly realized it's not as bright as it should be. He looked up to thick plumes of dark grey, almost black, smoke rising up from the hotel. He could see light in the upstairs windows, which he immediately attributed to the source of the smoke. He could hear sirens fast approaching and saw a fire truck rounding the corner quickly. He ran towards the truck, waving his arms, motioning for them to stop. The truck came to a halt and he could hear the air brake go off. A man stuck his head out the window, a quizzical look on his face. "I need to put out this fire! What are you doing?" He asked. Sam approached the truck and as soon as he figured he was close enough that the guy could hear him yell he called out"You need to stay back! The building is unstable, I think that there was a bomb set off on one of the top stories and I don't know if the bomber is still nearby."
Sam walked away from the fire truck; from the terrified look on the drivers face he figured it was safe to say that fire truck was not going to come anywhere near the building. Sam pulled out his phone and dialed Sargent Greg Parker's phone number from memory. "Hello?' Greg answered the phone. Sam spoke up "Greg, this is Sam, we have a situation at our hotel and we need team one to respond. There was a bomb, or at least that's what I'm assuming it was, set off on one of the top stories." There was a minute long pause before Greg responded, "We're all on break but I'll see if I can round up the team and we'll be out there as soon as we can." Sam called out to Jules "They're going to try and get out here as soon as they can." Jules nodded, relief showing on her face as she held Sadie close to her and tried to comfort her terrified daughter.
Sam turned and saw Ben walking towards him, he breathed a sigh of relief that he made it out. Ben walked over and stood beside him. "It doesn't make sense, if this was a terror attack then you would think that they would have set off the bomb lower to the ground to topple the building and have the highest death count." Sam nodded in agreement. "It's almost like they just wanted to flush people out of the building" he said thoughtfully.
"Sam! There's someone behind you!" Jules called out. Sam turned around, lightning fast just to have his breath taken away when before him stood a very angry looking man. A smirk crossed the mans face when he recognized Sam. "Master Corporal Samuel Braddock... What a pleasure to finally meet you face to face. My name is Major Aabid Khalifa. You may recognize my name, if you don't that's alright, you will soon. Oh, how are you doing, I heard there was a friendly fire incident towards the end of your JTF2 career... Oh wait, didn't your career end because of that?" He laughed. "My bad. We're going to have fun Master Corporal, maybe your family can even join in the fun..."
A/N: I hope you enjoyed! As always I love reviews and constructive criticism is always welcome! It's spring break for me right now so I'm hoping I can get another chapter written. I've also decided to just stick to Sam's P.O.V as it is easier for me to write it that way.
