A/N: *gasp* I'm back. Quick update: I'm currently interning at a law firm. Hopefully, they'll hire me. :D

I want to dedicate this chapter to my coworker Hallie who feeds my broke ass every day. *mwah*

Chapter 5: Past Grievances

'Miserable girl. Hmph.' Ophiuchus walked through Inuyasha's Forest, headed north. 'Something's got to be done about her.'

She stopped when she felt a cold wind wrapped around her. 'That's strange.'

She attempted to call off her power. 'I can't afford to let myself get distracted.' The air became even colder and snow rushed around her with great speed, lifting her blue gown by a foot.

"This isn't my power!" She tried to transport herself out of the way but it wasn't working.

The snow and wind picked up even faster she could barely see in front of her face. "Argh! Okay, now I'm getting quite upset!" She called upon her axe and swung in front of her. "Hah!"

The snow suddenly stopped in mid-air. It began to harden and form into a ring of ice. 'What the-?' It slammed against her body and pinned her to the sacred tree.

"Who's out there?! What is the meaning of this?!" She struggled as she tried to release herself from the ring's grasp. 'Argh! It is I who commands the winter storm. Who dares t-?'

She felt an aura whose power consumed her entire body and made her go stiff. 'No….it can't be. It's impossible.'

A tall, older man stepped out from behind the tree line. He walked right up to Ophiuchus with a lightning bolt in his hand and aimed it at her neck. "How did you find me?"

The gentleman replied, "You should know better than to think you can hide from the King of the Gods."

"Miroku."

The monk turned toward his fiancee. He saw the worry all over her face; similar to his.

"I want to look for Kagome." The demon slayer was tired of waiting and wanted some action. Kagome may be intelligent and from a future time but there were things about this era that she felt Kagome just wasn't ready for. Her time felt...shielded. "We can't just leave her out there."

Miroku sighed and said, "Sango, we don't even know where she is. Or Inuyasha, for that matter."

"To hell with Inuyasha, Miroku!" Sango said, slamming her fists on the table. The dishes clattered and a small teacup rolled onto the floor. "For all we know, he's the reason she hasn't come back yet."

Miroku picked up the teacup. "Sango, please. I ju- "

The front door slammed open and Inuyasha stepped in, growling and grabbing at his back. "If you don't get the hell OFF me!" He finally grasped something and slammed it on the table. "WAHHH! What did you do with Kagome?!" It was Shippo. He lay flat on his back quivering with tears. "Listen ya little brat. I ain't gonna tell ya again. I don't fucking know!"

"LIAR!"

Inuyasha turned his head. Miroku and Sango were backed away against the wall watching the whole thing. Sango's eyebrows were lowered. "You expect us to believe that?!"

"What are you talking about?"

"You know what I'm talking about, punk! Where is Kagome? Last time we saw her she went after you, so don't tell me you didn't run into her."

Inuyasha hesitated and his dog ears lowered. Miroku stepped forward. "Please, Inuyasha. We're only concerned for Kagome's welfare. Now, have you seen her?"

"You are no king of mine." Ophiuchus replied. "After what you did."

"I did what was necessary. It was just unforeseeable circumstances that cost him his life."

Her eyes flashed. "Unforeseeable? How dare you. He only did what he felt was right."

"Which was wrong." He poked the lightning bolt even harder into her neck. "Hippolytus was punished for his crimes. Just like your beloved husband."

With exasperation she replied, "Oh all you Gods are so alike. Toying with mortals for your entertainment. Never looking at the facts. He just refused to be a part of your sport."

"And who are you to judge?" He looked at her with disdain. "Are you not toying with one now?"

"Hmph. Hardly. She needs my help. Just because my husband is no longer of this realm does NOT mean I will stop doing his work, Zeus."

She cried out in agony as Zeus tightened the ring around her body even more. "Watch it, Ophiuchus."

Her groans turned into chuckles as she looked straight at him. "You do not scare me. We are no longer in Greece. There are other spirits here that reign over yours."

"Final warning: Don't get in my way again. I wouldn't want you to reunite with your husband too soon. Especially not you AND your child."

'What?'

Zeus disappeared in a bolt of lightning. She collapsed to the ground and coughed heavily. 'But….' She placed a hand on her stomach.'….a child?'
