A/N: I got a request from austin. todd.315 (sorry for the extra space: ffnet doesn't like your name, bro) for a DK rendition of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" – a classic song that actually originated as a Zulu war chant that got turned into a wordless (think Pink Floyd's "The Great Gig in the Sky") folk song by a South African singer named Solomon Linda and his backup, The Choir Birds, in the 1920s, before being adapted a few times by various folks, culminating in The Tremors, who, in 1961, added the English lyrics everyone knows and loves. Of course, it wasn't until Timon and Pumbaa performed an excerpt of it in The Lion King that it became as super-well-known as it is now (the 1994 Disney flick's where little ol' me first heard it, at any rate). Anyway, the song's a natural fit for the DK Crew, but it's pretty simple and straightforward – hence I included this mini-history lesson to supplement it. Because history is fun. (I hope.) But enough of that now: please enjoy the song, and remember to sing along to the wailing and monkey noises for maximum enjoyment!
