Chapter 2: Arrival

There's an OC (Ayumi Devon) being used and it's from OracionMist story (Pokemon: Maelstrom's Duet) and some ideas I got from her story. All with premission of course. Also read her story it's really good.
If anyone has an OC they'd like for me to use for battling Naruto or Ayumi, send it as a pm please. If I like it I'll try to add them in somehow.
Several Hours Later
Its been, he doesn't know how long its been. He's been asleep the entire plan ride and it took Lilynette using Ice Punch to wake him up, much to the shock and amusement of the flight attendants, all of whom already tried waking him.
After disembarking the plane and grabbing his bag from luggage, he immediately moved to the Poke' Center to get his Pokemon check out before moving on to Pallet Town. As he made his way through the town he noticed a small festival was taking place and they're having two tournaments taking place. One for beginners and one for adept. Curious he made way towards a vendor that was selling different kinds of canes, staffs, and walking sticks.
Arriving at the stall he saw it was ran by an elderly lady upon seeing a potential customer she greeted the young man. "Hello sonny are you interested in my wears or just browsing? Hmm I haven't seen you before, here for festival or tournament?"
"Good day ma'am I'm just inquiring about the beginners tournament and were I am to register." Naruto greeted and asked, while looking over her sells.
"Ah I see. We'll the beginners tournament takes place tomorrow morning and the first place prize is their choice of one of two rare Pokemon and runner up gets the other. To register you simply need to head down to the outdoor stadium which is just a block from the Poke' Center." She said with a smile and pointing towards the direction of said place. "Though if I was you, I'd get there as fast as you can. I heard there's only one spot left."
Grunting at the thought of running he tiredly responds. "If I make it I'll make it, it's to troublesome to rush about." Ignoring the look she was giving him, he was about to thank her when a staff caught his eye. "Is that a replica of Saruman's staff from Lord of the Rings?"
"Hmm oh yes it is sonny and I have one for kids as well. Would you like to see?" She asked and went to grab it when he nodded his head yes. After a few minutes she returned with child size staff and heading it to him. "Sorry sonny for the wait, but here's the staff."
Taking said item and getting a feel for and liking it he asks. "How much for both?"
"Hmm let's make it 5000 Poke'Yen" She answered and took the card and ran it, before handing it back to him. "Thanks for the business sonny."
"Thanks as well. Have a good day ma'am." A tired farewell as walk away to head towards Poke'Center then for the registry for the beginners tournament.
'Kit I just need to ask the reason why you bought those?' Kurama asked.
'Reasons that'll make since in the future, so don't worry.'
After dropping of his stuff and Pokemon off at the center he made way towards the booth to find out the rules a register with his staff in hand.
"Hello young man, are you here to register? If so you're in luck, there's one spot left." The man said.
"Correct I do wish to enter, but I'd like to here the rules first." Inquired the young redhead.
"Of course, it's eight man one v one elimination style tournament first prize is a choice of one of two rare Pokemon and second place gets the other one" the man explained. "The only stipulation is any Pokemon entered has to be below level 20"
"Doable. How do I register?"
"Simply hand me you Poke'Dex and the Pokemon you wish to use and I'll do the rest." Doing as told the lazied trainer hand said item and his Popplio and was soon registed."And here you go young man, just make sure you're here at nine in the morning so you'll know who you'll be facing and the first match begins at ten." With an unenthusiastic bow the red haired trainer left, not noticing a silver haired girl watching him in curiosity.
Making it back to the Poke'Center in time to pick up his Pokemon with Lilynette taking her place on his shoulder and Kurama hiding back in his shadow he thanked Nurse Joy before heading to his room
'So daddy, who are you using in the tournament tomorrow? Lilynette asked hoping it was her, Kurama also listening in.
With a sigh her father answered. "Popplio." Seeing Lilynette pout he explained the reason why. "Its not like I don't want to use both of you, but the tournament rules are no Pokemon over level 20. That's makes Popplio the only choice as the others have been trained yet. Which is about to change."
Reaching his room he grabbed his bag and headed out to a local training field, once he arrived he released his Pokemon which included Lilynette and Kurama, there were Buneary, Rufflet, Popplio and Grubbin. "Alright everyone it's time to start your training." Naruto said as he brought out several different training weights. "Anytime we train you all will be wearing these training weights. This will help strengthens you bodies and endurance. Once on I want you all to run or flying/hopping around this field ten times, Grubbin you'll be running around the center of the field as your body isn't suited for this as well as the others are."
This got groans from everyone, save Lilynette and Kurama. "Now don't be like that, after all I'll be doing the same routine as you will be doing." This surprised his new Pokemon as they expected for him to laze around or sleep like he usually would. 'Why do I feel like I got jab again about my habits' Shaking his head, he set about putting the weights on his Pokemon, once he put his on then they all begun their run. After five minutes Lilynette, Kurama and Naruto finished their run and waited for the others to finish which only took another five, that even included Grubbin surprisingly.
After that he had them spare with Lilynette and then Kurama after. Once that was done the all practice their known moves. Once done, and since they were in a public space, he called an end to the day's training. "You all did really well, I know for Lilynette and Kurama this was just light training, but for those that are new to this I'm highly impressed of you. Let's get you healed up by Nurse Joy and get some dinner." He ignored the looks of shock from his new friends about this being 'light training' and returned them all to their balls save for Lilynette and Kurama of course. He also scanned them to see where they're at.

'Well they're catching up pretty fast huh daddy.' Lilynette said.
'Yes they are and surprising fast especially Grubbin the little girl pushed herself hard to day. Must be wanting to evolve soon as possible.' Naruto thought back telepathically as there were people around. 'What are your thoughts Kurama?'
'Not much really, but why didn't you push Popplio today in training?' Kurama couldn't help but ask.
'I didn't need her to do to much, I need her at peak condition for tomorrow's battles.' he explained as he made his way inside and walked up to counter. " Excuse me Nurse Joy, but could look after this four? They pushed themselves quite a bit and I want to make sure they'll be ok for tomorrow?"
"Of course it would be no problem Naruto just give them to me I'll get them better in no time. Is there anything else I can help you with?" The kindle nurse asked
"Yes early I forgot to ask if you would register me for the Indigo League."
"Yes all I need is Poke'Dex and you'll be signed up in a jiffy" She said as she took the offered item and within a minute she handed it back. "And you're all signed up, I wish you the best of luck."
"Thank you." Was he reply as he made his way to video phones. As he sits he let's out a tired sigh. "I really don't want to do this, but oh well." He inputs the numbers and waits, but not for long.
"Hello Uzumaki-Namikaze residence." Soon the video kicks on and on screen was the face of his mother and her eyes widen and a bright smile graced her face. "Naru-chan! Hold on a minute honey. Hey everyone Naru-chan's on the phone!!" She yelled and Naruto had an annoyed look on his face do to the noise and the fact everyone in the lobby can hear it.
"Mom must you be so loud?" Asked the annoyed redhead, as he ignored the the snickering and his ears ringing.
Giggling sheepishly the older redhead responded. "Sorry but all of us were worried, since you plane should have landed hours ago." She ended with a pout and everyone else was now gathered around the phone.
"Right sorry about that. After I got off the plane and was on my way towards the Poke'Center I saw they're having a festival and were hosting a beginners tournament and I wanted to participate in it." As he apologized, those around him didn't think he meant it as it was with a lazy monotone voice. "First prize is a choice between two rare Pokemon and runner up gets the other. I'm entering it with Popplio as Lilynette and Kurama are over the level limit and my other Pokemon and I haven't bonded enough yet."
"Oh do you know what kind they are son?" Questioned his father.
"No."
"... Well I guess a surprise is more fun then" was Rin that broke the awkwardness that came with brief answer.
"I guess, either way it'll be troublesome. I'm just doing this for the experience."
"Well any experience is good, but you're not gonna just lazie around the battle are you nephew?" Was Obito's teasing yet serious response.
Scoffing at that. "When it comes to Pokemon you all know how serious I am."
"Easy nephew I'm just teasing. By the way, why do you have a replica of Saruman's staff?" That caused everyone to notice and now had the same question.
"Saw it, liked it and bought it and the full scale replica with it. I'll be sending the full scale one home soon." He was secretly enjoying the look that Obito was giving him. "Well I must be going I haven't eaten anything yet so I'm gonna get some dinner, don't worry it's not gonna be ramen mom." Seeing the look his mother gave him about what he might have for dinner.
Smiling at that his mother response. "That's good honey, well have goodnight and good luck with the tournament tomorrow honey." and with that the others bid their own fair wells.
Once the call ends he sighs. "That was troublesome. Now to see what kinda of food they got here." As he stands up and heads for the cafeteria, ignoring the looks some were giving him, as they saw just who he was talking to.
Later that night
Naruto had just returned to his room, after retrieving his Pokemon, and was digging through his backpack to get some clothes so he could shower, when he saw not one but two Pokemon Eggs. One was purple with green markings and the second one was orange with red swirls on it. Pulling them both out of his backpack, he started to examine them making sure they're undamaged and thankfully they were safe. Sigh "why am I not surprised that they'd do this?" With another sigh he dug through the rest of his bag and found all kinds of medical supplies both for himself and his Pokemon, at least a hundred different kinds of Poke'Balls and keys to, most likely, all the villa's his parents own. With that he got his Xtransceiver and called his parents as well as checking his bank account balance.
When the call connected it showed one worried Kushina and one nervous Minato. Before he could say anything his mother spoke first. "Honey is everything alright?"
"That depends on your definition of 'alright'. Can you two explain why I have not one but two Pokemon Eggs, enough medicine to make me a walking hospital, all kinds of Poke'Balls, keys to all the villa's and enough in my bank account that I could buy anything I want and it wouldn't leave a dent." He spoke with a hollowed tone that caused the two, even Lilynette and Kurama as they had been watching the entire time, to shudder and Kushina to think it was like her father scolding her.
Lucky for her it was Minato to speak up. "Sorry son, we know you wanted to be treated like everyone else that's starting out, but as parents it's our job to make sure you're as safe and ready as possible."
"He's right honey. Besides I know whatever hatches from the egg's will help along your journey and the keys to the villa's will give you a homey feeling more than a Poke'Center will ever give." Kushina spoke with a smile.
Sighing "I don't doubt the hatchling that'll hatch will be a big help, but you should have found away to tell me they were there as I put my bag through the luggage department of the airport." This caused the two to flinch as they didn't think of that. "Luckily they seem fine, but I'll be taking them to nurse Joy after this to make absolutely sure nothing is wrong with them."
"Sorry honey/son" they both said.
"It's whatever now. So who did what?"
Kushina was the one that explained. "I put the keys to the villa's in, Minato put in one of the egg's, Obito put in the Poke'Balls, Rin was the medical supplier, mom and dad put the other egg in and them and us put in a portion of our bank accounts into yours."
Sigh "Like I said it's whatever now. Next time you all decide to give any Pokemon Eggs, let me know please." Both nodded to him and with that "Alright I'm gonna take the eggs down and get ready for tomorrow, goodnight"
"Goodnight honey/son." And the call ended
Next morning
Luckily the eggs were alright and one was close to hatching, but Nurse Joy wouldn't tell which one it was. When asked she just stuck her tongue out and giggled saying 'it's a secret' and that just made Naruto shake his head and muttered 'troublesome women'.
Currently Naruto was making his way towards the outdoor stadium wearing his Primera Espada outfit along with his staff. Once he made it he realized he was the last to show up... Again. He eyed over the other competitors and only one stood out among them. It was a girl with long wavy silver hair that was tied in a ponytail that reached her waist with her bangs covering her right eye, sharp red eyes that really stood out on her pale skin as she wore a black unzipped jacket over her blue tank top, gray skinny jeans that had a white belt, black boots and a white messenger bag hung on her side.
Once he was done with his observation he turned his attention to the host of the tournament, missing the fact the silver haired girl was eyeing him as well, and the host turned out to be the mayor of Cinnabar Island who name was William who was going over the rules which were easy to remember. It was a one v one elimination bracket, and would go until the last two and the winner was allowed to choose one of two Pokemon and those happen to be an Elekid and Magby.
"Alright I bet you kids are raring to go, right!" He gave an over excited shot that all the kids returned, well not all the kids. The silver haired girl kept calm cool head and the other kid was Naruto who was... Sleeping... While standing. "Um can someone please wake mister uh... Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze up please?" The mayor asked until the name he just said registered in his head. "Uzumaki-Namikaze!!!" Once he shouted that out the other competitors eyes widened in worry, except the albino girl who's curiosity sky rocketed.
Snort. "Huh what, what is it, is it time for my (yawn) match yet?" Asked a now half asleep Naruto. This response made the other competitors relaxed thinking he's just a name and not a real opponent.
"Um no young man, we were just about draw lotts to see who goes first and so on" the mayor said wondering if this was really the son of the some of two greatest trainers.
"Oh, well let's hurry this along please, I'm already growing board of this." The redhead lazily said.
"Right, yes let's get things going. Alright kids when I call you, all you'll need to do is draw a number out of this box and the one with the corresponding number will be your opponent and so on. Got it?" The mayor explained and asked.
"Yes sir!"
"Alright first up miss Ayumi Devon!" And now Naruto had a name to go with face. As silverette step she drew lott number 8. And it went till.
"Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze please step up." And with a lazy strut he drew lott number 1. "Alright that's everyone. We'll begin in fifteen minutes so get ready!"
Fifteen minutes later
"Alright ladies and gentlemen it's time for the Cinnabar Island Beginners Tournament!" The audience cheered with excitement at the announcer statement. "Now let's get to the battles! First up is... Folks I don't believe it, but our first competitor, from the Alola Region, is the son of the Jhoto League Champion and the Flaming Whirlpool a Master Coordinator Kushina Uzumaki! Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze!" The crowd cheered even louder than before, but it died down a bit as said boy came in with a lazied strut, a tired and half asleep expression and dressed as a anime character with a replica staff from Lord of the Rings.
"Um ok, his opponent from Fuchsia City Nora!" The crowd cheered again causing the girl to blush from the attention as she's never been in a in front of a crowd before.
Then the referee step up and. "Alright competitors please send out your Pokemon!"
"Go Doduo/Popplio time to dance!"
"Challengers ready? Begin!"
"Doduo us Quick Attack" Doing what its trainer had ordered the Twin Bird Pokemon ran at its foe at full speed.
"Popplio take it head on with Aqua Jet and once in range do an uppercut Pound" the redhead ordered.
Popplio was soon covered in water, then shot off like a rocket and do to both Pokemon speed attacks, it seemed like they met instantaneously. Once close enough Popplio did a backflip and nailed the left head of Doduo with her flippers knocking it back, but right head managed to Peck the Sea Lion Pokemon and let out a cry of pain.
"Don't give in, point blank water gun followed by Icey Wind." her whiskered trainer quickly said.
Doing her best to ignore sudden pain of the attack, she righted herself and fired off a pressurized stream of water hitting the right head, while it was disoriented, she followed it by a chilling wind freezing the right head and leaving frost covering its body, before it fell with swirls in its eyes.
"Doduo is unable to battle, the winner of the match is Naruto of the Alola Region!"
Even though the crowd busted into cheers, everyone was somewhat confused. Up until the match started the spikey redhead looked like he wanted to be anywhere but here or at least asleep. But once the match started he was a completely different person. Gone was was the slouch, and the tired dissipation and in place was what seemed like a season veteran. One thing was for sure, this wasn't just some kid with a name.
Walking up to his Pokemon Naruto muttered. "That was a boring battle, but regardless you did fantastic Popplio." He smiled when she clapped her fins together and did a backflip with a smile in joy from the praise. Soon recalling his Pokemon he slouched over to the waiting area till his next battle.
The following matches were boring, the next match was a Metapod vs Geodude which ended almost instantaneously as all Geodude did was use a rollout and won. The third match dragged on for thirty minutes as it was two fire type using nothing but fire moves. It was the last match that caught his interest.
"All it's time for the final match of the beginning rounds. First we have Gabriel of Cerulean City vs Ayumi Devon of Jubilife City of the Sinnoh!"
"Trainers please present your Pokemon!"
"Go Gloom/Prinplup let's end this quickly!" Once both Pokemon appeared Naruto noticed that the Prinplup was much larger than a normal one and was wondering what type of training did that girl do.
'So who do you thinks gonna win' asked Naruto to both of his hiding Pokemon.
'I think it's going to be Ayumi, daddy.' was Lilynette answer.
'I agree, that Prinplup just screams powerhouse. You and Popplio will need to be careful as, unlike these weaklings, she's the real deal.' came Kurama's response.
Which held true. Before Gloom could do anything Ayumi had Prinplup use an Aqua Jet as well as Peck together, after hitting and knocking it back a few feet, before ordering an Ice Beam freezing the Gloom in a block of ice. The match was over in a matter of seconds.
'This is going to be a difficult match, I hope you'll be ready Popplio. It's gonna take everything we got to win' Naruto mentally said to his partner.
'Don't worry I'll give it everything and more to win' she said back with a firey determination in her voice.
His next match was over within thirty seconds as all he did was an Aqua Jet and a point blank Water Gun. As was Ayumi's match and it ending pretty much the same, only she used Water Pulse.
"Alright it's now time for the final match of the Beginners Tournament! In one corner we have the Graceful and Powerful Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze of the Alola Region vs the Merciless Powerhouse Ayumi Devon of the Sinnoh Region! Who will win? Well let's find out." The mc announced while two trainers sent out their Popplio and Prinplup respectably.
"Aqua Jet" Come the orders of both trainers. With both Pokemon colliding head on.
"Popplio use Disarming Voice." Letting out a call, causing the Prinplup to cover its ears
"Tank it and use Metal Claw" doing as told, Prinplup ran at Popplio with the tips of its fins glowing.
"Popplio cease your attack and use Aqua Jet to get away." Doing the best she could to get of there, unfortunately Prinplup managed to clip her tail sending her off course and slammed into the ground.
"Use Ice Beam and freeze it in place." Firing of chilling beam of ice, it made contact and froze half of Popplio's body. "Finish this with Metal Claw and don't let up!" Prinplup ran up and started to deliver slash's with fin on an immobile Popplio.
"Popplio hang in there, try using Disarming Voice to break the ice." She tried but everytime she'd open her mouth another slash was delivered. She knew she'd lose if she couldn't figure something out. Popplio knew she could not afford to lose, not after promising to her trainer that she wouldn't slow him down.
It was with that thought, that anger and determination fueled her body as she let loose a powerful scream that knock Prinplup back and shattered the ice on her body.
Letting out another scream her body began to glow and change. When the light faded away it revealed Popplio's new form. Her new form is a light blue, pinniped Pokémon with three ruffle-like growths around its body. The first ruffle is just under its front flippers, while the last is shortly before the tail. The ruffles alternate white and pale blue. Its long ears are made up of three segments that lighten and increase in size towards the tip; the first segment is ovoid, while the latter two are spherical. It has a long, conical snout with a white tip, a spherical pink nose, and large dark eyes with pinkish pupils. Its front flippers are much longer than its tail flippers, although both have white tips. There are three digits on the front flippers. This is her evolution known as Brionne.
"Congratulations on your Popplio evolving, it looks strong but I still plan on winning." The silverette said with a grin.
"Thanks, but with Brionne just evolving we won't be losing her first match." Naruto called back with a smirk.
"We'll see. Prinplup use Ice Beam!" Another chilling beam of ice made towards the newly evolved Pokemon.
'I hope this works.' "Brionne use Aqua Jet and head into the Ice Beam while spinning your body as fast as you can." The order shocked the audience and even his opponent, thinking he was just throwing the match. But to everyone's amazement and surprise, while it did freeze Brionne in a jagged piece of ice, she kept the momentum and slammed into Prinplup, as he and his trainer were shocked by the move, sending it back a few feet from its trainer.
"Prinplup are alright?" She shouted in worry, but sighed in relief when her Pokemon nodded and got back to its feet. Once it got back on its feet it slowly started to head towards Brionne.
"Brionne are able to continue?" Naruto questioned his Pokemon in worry as well. Brionne nodded that she could go on, even though the water somewhat protected her, the Ice Beam still did damage to her. But that didn't stop her from crawling towards her opponent.
However, before either trainer could issue an order, both Pokemon's eyes rolled to the back of their heads and collapsed at the same time.
The referee looked at both Pokemon for a second to see if either would get up, it soon became apparent that neither would. "Prinplup and Brionne are unable to continue! This match is a draw!" Dispite the match ending this way, the audience still chreed loudly for both trainers.
Ignoring the crowd Naruto quickly made is why to Brionne. Once by her side he saw she was crying. 'Hey what's wrong?'
'I'm sorry. Even when I evolved I still couldn't win, I failed you. I'm so sorry!' Said back crying even more now.
Her crying lessed when she felt her trainer petting her head, before looking at and being surprised that was smiling and not angry with her. 'Hey now don't cry. You didn't let me down or fail at anything. You gave it your best and even evolved to do it. To me that's a win.'
Her crying ceased and a smile took place at his words and soon she was standing on the of her tail to give her trainer the best hug that she could. 'Thank you! I promise to try even harder from now on!'
'As long as you don't over exert yourself, I'm fine with that. Now take a long rest you deserve it' he said before he returned her to her Poke'Ball. Getting up Naruto looked over towards the silverette and saw she just returned her Prinplup to its ball, before making his way over towards her. "Hey how's Prinplup."
"Oh no worries, he's fine. He's a pretty tough guy." Ayumi said with a smile, before losing it and asking, "How's your Bronnie doing? It looked devastated at the lose?"
"She was, but she better now thank you." Naruto answered with his voice now back to its usual lazy monotone voice and looking like he was about to fall asleep.
She felt sweat drip down the back of head at this. "Are you bipolar or something?" Seeing a raised eyebrow she elaborated. "You went from sleeping standing up, to a serious battle experience veteran, to a loving caring trainer and back to this" motioning to his appearance.
"Oh, well no this is how I usually am. If something doesn't interest me I'm incredibly lethargic. Doctors don't even know way I'm like this, but it's not harmful so I don't worry about it."He answered truthfully with a wave of his hand.
More would've been said, had the mayor not step towards them. "That was a magnificent battle you two, but I'm afraid we're at a conundrum seeing as it ended in a draw. We need a tie breaker or something to decide who picks first."
Naruto and Ayumi just looked at each other and said, "I'm interested in Elekid/Magby." Respectably and just looked back at the mayor one with an innocent smile and the other with a bored look.
The mayor just stared at them, "Yeah fine that works too." He said handing them they're respective Pokemon, though Naruto's vanished into thin air.
"Oh yeah I forgot to send one of my Pokemon back so I could of scann my new friend." He said punching a fist into his hand. " We'll since we're done with this I need to get Brionne to the Poke'Center" He said as he was already walking away. He ignored the footsteps coming next to him.
"So is it because you're lethargic most of the time, you dress like Coyote Starrk?" She asked with teasing grin.
With a shrug, "Yes and no. The workers on my family's ranch got me into Bleach manga and when they noticed my mannerisms they started calling me 'Little Coyote'. So I took the joke and rolled with it." He truthfully answered. "Also it annoys my uncle." He finished with mischievous smirk.
Reaching the center they both walk to the counter and asked Nurse Joy to look after their Prinplup and Brionne. "Of course it would be my pleasure." She responded with her usual kind smile.
"Thank you Nurse Joy." They both said, before Naruto continued. "Well if you'll excuse me I'm gonna give my team more training before I rotate them, before I head off to Pallet Town tomorrow." With that he headed off somewhere to train.
Next morning
Training had gone great managing to get everyone to a respectable level with his Grubbin evolving into a Charjabug.
Currently Naruto was at the Northside of Cinnabar Island at the docks waiting for the departure when. "There you are, I've been looking all over for you." Came a familiar voice.
Turning around he found one Ayumi Devon with an annoyed look on her face. "And why were you looking for me?"
