Chapter 3: From Old Acquaintances to Pewter City

Its been about five minutes since the boat had left port, when Ayumi turned to her new traveling companion, "So what kind of Pokemon do you have Naruto?" She wondered.

Giving a brief side glance before turning his eyes back to the water, "I currently have on me Lilynette a Meloetta (she briefly appeared and gave a cheerful wave to the surprised silverette), Kurama a Hisui Form Zorua (he popped his head out of Naruto's shadow and gave a small glare), you know of Brionne (after her lose and breakdown I didn't think it wise to rotate her just yet), Elekid, Litwick and a Murkrow." Answered the redhead before handing her his Poke'Dex so she look at the rest, "I have allot of other Pokemon so just look through my Poke'Dex."

As she looked through the list of owned Pokemon her eyes widened"You've only been a trainer for three days and you have 27 Pokemon, granted three are Rockruff. You've certainly been busy. Why do you have three Rockruff?"

"Yeah I spent an entire day getting them and Rockruff has three different forms of evolution depending on the time of day. What Pokemon do you have?" He inquired.

"You know Prinplup he's always up for a fight, an over protective Nidorino, Magby you know as well and he's very shy and a very serious Shinx" she answered with a smile, "I was going to get an Abra and a Oddish when I made it to Cerulean City, but my ship had to dock at Cinnabar for some emergency and I decided to take part in the tournament."

"From what you say you're gonna dock at Vermilion City, correct." Seeing her nod he continued, "Hopefully this didn't mess your plans up too much."

"Nah I can just get them when we get there, besides I got a cute little Magby out of this." She smiled, "so who's this friend of yours?"

"His name's Ash Ketchum and his dream is to be a Pokemon Master. He's very driven, but naive. Of course that was when we were five, so I'm not sure how he is now. I haven't spoken to him or Serena in years." He said with a far off look.

"How'd you all meet and why haven't you all kept in touch?"

"It was at a Pokemon summer camp that professor Oak was having and my parents wanted me to attend and since it was about Pokemon I thought why not. I got board one day and went to find somewhere away from everyone to sleep. I ended up in the woods and chose to sleep in a bush. (Que a snort from Ayumi) Well after awhile I heard some commotion and popped my head out and saw a girl on the ground holding her knee.

Seeing she was injured I did what I could to help. I ended up ripping the sleeve of my shirt and rapped it the best I could. She couldn't walk so I ended up giving her a piggy back ride. And that was the time Ash showed up, looking for a Poliwag, which was what had startled Serena and caused her to fall. I told Ash I'd be back to help him look for it, while I took Serena back to get her leg check out. After that we all hangout till it was time to leave camp." Naruto finished. "Also none of us thought of getting each other's numbers and it doesn't help that Ash is from Kanto, Serena is from Kalos and I'm from Alola." He ended with a shrug.

"Whoa that's quite away to meet some friends, but after Kanto maybe we can go to Kalos and see your other friend." She said only to receive a negative head shake.

"While that would be nice, I plan on hitting Jhoto next then Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova and then Kalos." He form her.

"Why like that?"

"I don't want to do anything out of order."

"What does that mean?"

"Nothing don't worry about it." That just confused her even more, but decided it was best just leave it. After that the rest of the boat ride was in silence.

Pallet Town Port

After arriving the silver and red dou left ship and headed straight to Professor Oak's lab. "Why are we heading towards the lab, I thought you'd want to visit your friend first?" She questioned.

"Generally you'd be right, but I don't know where he lives. Besides Professor Oak is having a starter selection soon, so he should know where he is." He answered.

Soon enough they arrived at the lab only to stop and sweat drop, as before them is a group of people and at the front of the them were about a dozen older girls dressed in cheerleader uniforms.

"Ok... What's this about?" Questioned the silverette.

"Your guess is as good as mine." The redhead shrugged. "Well let's push our way through." And with that they started fighting their way through. Once through and ignoring the small cries of anger from the cheerleaders, they made way for the doors of the lab.

As they made their way inside and further into the lab they came across an older man wearing a lab coat, red shirt and tan pants and three kids around their age. Two boys one girl. Seeing a questioning look from his companion, Naruto softly shakes his head telling her none of these were Ash.

Hearing the stamp of of his staff, all four present in the lab turned towards the entryway to see the two foreign trainers. The kids were confused as to who they were, but Oak's eyes lit up in recognition at the red haired boy. "Well if isn't young Naruto, how have you been young man?" As the old professor said this one boy had look of recognition as well

Said young man just shrugged. "Same as ever old man. Sleeping when I can or training my Pokemon when I'm not." He said shocking the three kids, thinking he was being disrespectful, only to be shocked again when the Professor laughed.

"Yes you're definitely Kushina's son alright." Laughed out the Professor. "So what brings you here?" He asked before noticing the silverette next to the boy. "Oh, my apologies young lady, I'm Professor Oak and you would be?"

"Ayumi Devon I'm from the Sinnoh Region. Nice to meet you, Professor Rowan talked about you when he leaned of me starting here." Ayumi greeted. Before more could be said a spikey brunette boy spoke.

"Well, well, well if isn't the sleeping Fishcake. What came to visit the greatest trainer of Pallet Town?" Asked the arrogant boy.

The sleep addictive boy just stared at boy for a bit before replying, "Professor Oak's been retired for years so I don't think he's the greatest trainer of Pallet anymore" causing the old man to develop a storm cloud of depression to appear above him, muttering 'he's definitely Kushina's son'.

The brunette boy gained a tic mark over his eye "I was talking about me, you dobe."

"Oh... Who are you anyway?" This caused the arrogant boy to face fault.

"I'm Gary Oak the greatest trainer of Pallet Town!"

"... Never heard of you." This caused more tic marks to appear and caused the other to laugh.

"We met at that stupid summer camp, you were always around Ashy boy and that girl!" Said the boy, who's getting angrier my the second.

"I remember Ash and Serena, but you're a blank." The tired boy said with a yawn uncaring if his words made the arrogant boy angry. "The only other person I, somewhat, remember is this one boy that lost to me every time we had a mock Pokemon battle." This statement made the boy's face turn red rather out of embarrassment or anger he didn't know nor care.

"That's it I challenge you to a Pokemon battle and I'll show you that I'm the greatest!" The boy shouted out and grabbing a Poke'Ball from the stand.

The redhead lazily raised a brow before shrugging. "Sure fine, my Elekid could use the workout so I know where to start his training." This just angered the boy further.

"Alright that's enough!" Professor Oak yelled out. "Gary put the Poke'Ball back on the stand right now!" Gary was shocked that his grandfather actually yelled at him, but did as he was told. "Naruto I'd appreciate it if you stopped antagonizing my grandson." All he got was a shrug, before said boy moved back to his companion who wore a shocked look.

"What was that!" She exclaimed, only to get a raised brow. "What was that back there? You actually antagonized someone and put effort into it."

"Oh, that? I just can't stand arrogant people." Simply said. "He was like this back during summer camp. Thinking that his name made him great and everyone was beneath him for that reason alone. Even worse he was an excellent in Pokemon battles back then. He'd always flaunt his name around like he was a gift from Arceus. He'd challenge anyone to a mock battle back then and he usually won, till he challenged me that is." He explained.

"The worse was him putting Ash down about his dream all the time and I wasn't having that. I don't have allot a friends to be honest and those I claim as friends I'll defend at all costs." He finished with a scowl.

"Wow who knew you could be so compassionate about others that aren't Pokemon." She teased getting a grunt out of the boy.

As this was going on Professor Oak had gotten everything back on track and began the starter selection and as punishment Gary went last. But fortunately for him, he still got the Pokemon he wanted. As soon as he got his Pokemon he left and with a few seconds after they all heard the squealing of tires going down the road.

"Hmm I guess he didn't want that battle." Naruto mused.

Hearing a sigh coming from behind them both turned towards the professor "I understand the animosity towards one another, but I wish you'd get along with one another." Oak said with an exhausted sigh.

"When he loses his arrogance I'll be civil, otherwise I'll give him a douse of reality." Naruto said. "Though I will apologies for the trouble I helped cause." He bowed with apology.

Professor Oak waved the apology off, "It's alright. I should've known better than to believe Gary wouldn't cause a scene. So what brings you by my boy?"

"I wanted to visit Ash and since he's about to start his journey to become a Pokemon Master, I'd figured you'd know where he lives." Naruto said. "But since the starter selection is already started or finished he's either late or already gone."

"He's already left I'm afraid he was here before day break. After the Pokemon Summer Camp he took to his studies like a Magikarp to water. You really left an impression on him with your skills and knowledge." Oak said with a smile.

"I didn't think I was all that knowledgeable as I was 5 at the time" Naruto said with confusion.

"That maybe, but you always out scored everyone during the camp and that included Gary. Your skills in battle made it seem like you were a season beginner." The professor said with pride, "You truly a once in a generation prodigy."

"Hmm I doubt that, I'm just me, nothing more, nothing less." Naruto said with a shrug. "Well If he's already left than we should be on our way. Good day professor." With a bow both foreign trainers left.

"Sorry you couldn't see your friend." Ayumi said.

"It's fine. Honestly I'm glad that he's taking this seriously." Naruto said with a smile, "Back during camp he'd talk about his dream and all, but didn't put any effort to the subjects. So I am glad I was able to truly motivate him, if what the professor said is true. I will say I'm eager to battle him now."

"I bet, I wouldn't mind battling him if what you say is true with how he used to act." Ayumi said with a grin.

With that they quietly mad their way out of town and on to Route 1. However as they got there they say a red convertible and low and behold there was Gary Oak waiting for them most likely. "Its about time you showed up. Now we can battle without any interruption."

"Oh, and here I thought you ran away." Naruto said with a fanged grin. "Good I've feeling some nostalgia since I've been here so why not add to it."

Scoffing, "Ashy boy isn't the only one to study and train harder since summer camp. This will be one on one. Go Squirtle I choose you" he said as he released a small light blue turtle Pokemon

"Very well. Elekid show them how to dance!" As Naruto released his yellow and black striped Pokemon.

"Squirtle use tackle!" Doing as ordered the small Turtle Pokemon ran slowly at the Electric Pokemon.

"Start generating as much electricity as possible and hit it with Thunder Shock." Naruto ordered quietly.

Elekid quickly started to spine its arms rapidly. And waited for the turtle to get close. Once close enough he unleashed its build up of electricity on Squirtle shocking as well, as paralyzing it.

"Come on Squirtle shake it off and use Water Gun." The Tiny Turtle Pokemon was able to move enough and fired a pressurized stream of water at Elekid.

"Break through it with Cross Chop" Elekid crossed its arms and ran at the turtle Pokemon attack, slowing down quite a bit, but managed to land it's attack and making it land on its back.

"Elekid quickly use Thunder Shock and end this." With one final blast of electricity the water Pokemon was unable to continue.

Gary quickly returned his Pokemon and stormed off back to his car "This isn't over Fishcake! I will beat you one day and show you whose the better trainer really is!" And with that he left barreling down the path towards Veridian City.

"You know I've always wondered if he's last name is Oak is it because that's what's up his butt." Ayumi just started laughing at that comment. "We'll let's get moving now."

It only took the dou two hours to make it to Viridian City and the only notable things that happened were Naruto catching a Shinx, a sudden down pour, an unusual lightning bolt striking the ground and Ho-Oh flying over head, with both recording said Pokemon as proof of seeing it.

Unfortunately as they made to the Viridian City Poke'Center to get a room for the night as well, as get their Pokemon check out, they discovered it had burned down thanks to an attack by Team Rocket, thankfully no lives were lost as Nurse Joy managed to send all sick and injured Pokemon to another center. So with that they both headed towards Route 2 and set up camp for the night in a small clearing.

"That was horrible with what happened to the Poke'Center wasn't it." It was a rhetorical question Ayumi asked, but Naruto still answered.

"Indeed it was, but luckily no live were lost thanks to Nurse Joy and Ash." Naruto continued saying "It's too bad the Team Rocket got away though." With Ayumi nodding in agreement. "Well I'm gonna go find a place to train my Pokemon, I'll be back in time to cook us some dinner."

"Alright I'm going to do the same." And with that they both split up and did their thing.

With Naruto

'So who are you going to use in the Gym Challenge daddy?' Lilynette asked.

"I'm not sure yet." Seeing as no one was around Naruto spoke normally, "The first Gym is a rock type gym, that does two v two. Right now I'm thinking Elekid and Brionne/or Murkrow." Seeing a pout and hearing a huff Naruto explained his reasoning, "Hey now, I want a challenge for our first Gym Battle and you two would sweep the gym this early in the game."

"If that's the case kit, why are you thinking of using Brionne? She is just under our level now." Inquired Kurama.

"You both saw how devastated she was for our match with Ayumi ending in a draw. I figured her winning a gym badge would reinstall her confidence. That's also why I didn't switch her around with someone else as I didn't want her to think I'm replacing her." He explained with a frown.

'Daddy has a point, she's still beating herself up over the loss and she's really pushing herself in training too. So much so that daddy needs to step in and stop her before she hurts herself.' Lilynette frowning over her friends actions, even after the reassurance from both of them and even Kurama trying to reassure her that everything was alright.

"True, but can you blame her? Another Popplio was the reason she wasn't chosen by her would be original trainer." Kurama adding in, "So from her view point, she thinks she's not good enough and has something to prove."

"Well for now let's not worry about it. We all have training to do." Naruto said getting groans from his two Pokemon.

Three hours later

Training was hell for all of them and Brionne learned why the redhead kept calling all those other training sessions 'light'. They did the same things the first time, but now the had to do balancing acts, dodging all kinds of attacks, if they could they climbed trees, they had to climb all the way to the top and of course sparing with each other, while rotating partners every five minutes. For the first 30 minutes of the last hour they'd practice the known moves to perfect them and the last half hour was trying to lean a new move.

With training done for the day, the red haired trainer made his way back to camp to find Ayumi back from her own training session. "How'd training go?" Naruto asked.

"Great! Magby is already closing in on catching up to the others and look at this." She exclaimed before tossing out a Poke'Ball and what appeared was a Luxio and a big one at that. "How was your training?"

"Ah I see Shinx evolved congratulations. None of mine evolved, but are making allot of progress in catching up with Lilynette and Kurama." He answered with a small smile. "Well should we start getting dinner ready for all of us?" He then released all his Pokemon, with Ayumi following suite.

When dinner was done they all were seated around the camp fire eating peacefully when 'daddy can I have seconds?'

"Same here kit."

The albino girl nearly dropped her dinner at sudden voice echoing in her head and jumped at the deep voice that followed. "Did.. did your Pokemon just talk?" Asked the shocked silverette.

"Hmm, oh right I forgot that you didn't know they could speak. My apologies." With a small nod of his head. "But yes Lilynette can through telepathy and Kurama can speak like any other human could." He said with a lazied smirk at the first surprised look before elation took hold.

"That is so amazing. Is there anything else!" She asked excitedly.

"Well" 'Lilynette isn't the only one that has Psychic powers' he mentally said enjoying the look she got.

"You're psychic?!" She shouted.

"Yup. Discovered that when I was five. I can also use my Aura as well." He confirmed before going to explain everything to her.

"Wow I knew things would be interesting if I followed you!" she said with excitement.

"I guess so, but we should get everything cleaned up and get to bed. Thanks to traveling I don't get to sleep as much as I usually did." He ended with a pout causing his Pokemon to laugh and Ayumi and her Pokemon to sweat drop.

After everything was cleaned a put away they slept till morning had breakfast before entering Viridian Forest. It had only been 30 minutes since they entered the forest when they both heard rapid footsteps behind them and Naruto heard something cutting through the air. With quick reflexion he spun around and blocked a sword that was aimed for him with his staff. Quickly he disarmed the boy and had on the ground before anyone knew what happened.

"Care to explain why you felt the need to attack us." It wasn't a question as more of a demand.

Scared the boy answered, "It wasn't meant to hit anyone, it was just meant to be a challenge for a Pokemon battle."

"And you couldn't, oh I don't know, ask for a battle?" Questioned a angry Ayumi.

Before the boy could respond he was hit in the back of his head and knocked out, courtesy of Naruto, who then pickup the discarded sword only to find out it was a show piece and not an actual weapon. Sighing Naruto casually broke the sword over his leg and continued on ahead with Ayumi close behind.

'Are you alright daddy, Ayumi?' questioned a worried Lilynette.

Ayumi was the one to answer, "Yeah we're fine Lilynette, just angry at the nerve of that kid to just swing a weapon and say it's a challenge for a Pokemon Battle." With Naruto nodding along.

"You want me to go back and put him in an Illusion kit?" Kurama asked with hope in his voice.

Naruto actually stopped and considered it, "sure why not. But make sure its at the same level as you did with Bob."

With that a giddy Kurama rushed back to the samurai want a be and a few minutes later they heard a terrified scream and not long after a skipping Kurama made his way back into Naruto's shadow.

After that it was smooth sailing from there with Naruto catching a shiny Weedle and a shiny Budew. And both Naruto and Ayumi catching a Shroomish and Seedot.

Once out of the forest it was already nearing dusk and they had another hour before they'd make to Pewter City so they decided to take a small break and snack on some berries the found, only when Naruto was getting them out of his he noticed a familiar glowing and was quick to pull the egg out seeing it was orange and red one. He tried putting the egg on the ground, but it hatched in his arms. After regaining his sight he looked down to see not one, but two hatchling Pokemon and to his surprise it was a Scorbunny and a shiny Torchic.

"We'll this is a surprise I wasn't expecting or know it was possible for Pokemon to have twins." He said before the two started hatchlings tackled him with a hug and a nuzzle. Laughing he quickly got them to settled down and pulled out two Luxury Balls. "Alright you two I'll be sure to grab you both after my gym battle." He assured them before lightly tapping them with the balls before they both vanished.

"So cool, how lucky can you be? You get an egg that hatches into fraternal twins and ones a shiny!" Ayumi exclaimed only to frown when she noticed her friend's lack of excitement, "What's wrong? Usually a person would be happy over something like this."

"Oh I'm happy, but all this seems strange and impossible to happen." He said with a blank look.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that I find shinnies almost all the time and now the twin starters hatchlings and one being a shiny. None of this makes any sense and seems to defy all logic." He said with frustration.

'Daddy does it really matter? I mean we're extending our friends and family regardless." Was Lilynette's two cents.

"Sorry but I have got to agree with the kit on this one. I mean I'm a shiny as well and most likely the only Hisui Form Zorua." Adding in was Kurama.

Everyone lapsed into silence for a good few minutes, before "We'll maybe we shouldn't worry about this and just go with it." Suggested Ayumi getting nods from Pokemon and Naruto.

"Yeah that's probably for the best." Naruto agreed and got up and started heading towards Pewter City, "Let's go before curfew at the Poke'Center hits."

And with that Naruto and the others coutinued on and made it to the Pewter City Poke'Center just before curfew. Getting a room both trainers got a good night sleep for tomorrow is their first Gym Battle for their first Gym Badge.
