Chapter 4: Gifts and a Badge.

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or Pokemon or anime, manga or movies I may mention or reference.

This is a short chapter mostly focusing on the gym battle. Also Lilynette and Kurama won't be making an appearance this chapter I'm sorry.

Pewter City Poke'Center

After a restful night's sleep we find our favorite foreign trainers eating breakfast in the cafeteria of the Poke'Center discussing who'd go first in the Gym Battle.

"If you don't mind Ayumi I'd like to go first. I want to help Brionne regain her confidence. She's still upset about our match ending in a draw." Naruto said, having already explained the reason why Brionne had broken down the way she did, when Ayumi asked about it.

Nodding her head, "Yeah I'm fine with that. The little girl really needs this." Ayumi agree, feeling bad for the Pokemon that had been crushed because some other trainer already having a Popplio and a shiny one at that, on a day that should've been a happy one. "Who other than Brionne are you going to use? I'll be using Prinplup and Shroomish."

"Elekid will be the first one up, I believe he can stand up to them, with him knowing Cross Chop and he's almost prefected Brick Break. Though I'll need to be careful as surely Brock has a countermeasure for such an opponent." This got Ayumi to nod and happy that Naruto was not one to believe a type advantage alone would win. Suddenly their conversation was interrupted by a near by trainer.

"Brock? You mean you haven't heard the news?" Catching their attention both Naruto and Ayumi turned towards the older trainer.

"News, what news?" The both asked.

"The news that Brock left with two other trainers the other day. He was replaced by his father that randomly returned." Seeing the shocked looks he quickly went on, "The rules are still the same, so no worries on that, but it's just a new gym leader is all." He assured them.

"Thanks for the update." Was Naruto short reply and with a small nod, with Ayumi doing the same before both turned their attention back to each other. "Well this won't change my strategy in the least." Naruto said after a short bout of silence.

"Same, Prinplup and Shroomish got this." Ayumi said with confidence in her voice. More would of been said until the intercoms blared on.

"Attention would Ayumi Devon and Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze please come to the front desk! I repeat will Ayumi Devon and Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze please come to the front desk!"

Both looked at each other with a raised brow, before getting up and heading for the front. When they arrived they saw Nurse Joy talking with, what looked like a delivery man. Spotting them Joy gave a smile and pointed in their direction. Turning around the delivery man smiled as well and made his way towards them.

"Hello. Are you both Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze and Ayumi Devon?" He questioned. Seeing them nod he reached into his bag and pulled out two boxes that looked the same in size and shape, before handing them to the two. "Here you are Naruto this is from your parents and ms Ayumi this is from your Father." He said as he handed the items over to the two.

Thanking the man as they took their respective items. As they were about to make their way to a near by table and chairs to open their packages, they, or mostly Naruto, was stopped by the delivery man, "Actually I've got one more package for you Naruto." He said pulling out an Pokemon Egg incubator that had a slate blue egg in it. "This is from a Steven Stone from the Hoenn Region."

Two sets of eyes widened at the name, "Steven-nii!" Hearing this Ayumi's eyes widened even further.

"You know my cousin?!" She shouted, before being scolded by Nurse Joy for shouting, "Sorry Nurse Joy." She sheepishly apologized, before she turned back towards Naruto to see he has the first package floating around him in his psychic powers and gently holding the incubator. "Do you seriously know my cousin?" She asked quiter this time.

"Yes, if you're referring to the Hoenn Region Champion. He's my dad's best friend from the way they both talk about each other." He said as they made their way towards the tables and chairs. Once there they set their packages down, she turned to him.

"Now that you mention it, I do recall him talking about the Jhoto League Champion quiet a bit about him and him saying something about a redheaded Coyote. Now I finally know what he meant by that." She said laughing a little. Looking at the incubator she spied a note taped to it, "How what's the note say?"

Taking the note and opening it he read aloud,

'Hey Coyote

I'm sending you this Pokemon Egg as thanks for helping me last year with my stone excavation and the break through I had because of it. I'll have another gift for you, but I won't know when as I'm having to get in contact with Professor Sycamore in the Kalos Region. Once it's ready I'll be in contact with your father so I'll know it'll get to you. Be sure to raise this little one well, it'll be important in the future.

Steven Stone.'

"If this is what I think it is, this is going to be a massive powerhouse one day." Naruto said with excitement.

"Definitely. I'm actually a little jealous about this, but more than happy about it, congratulations Naruto." Ayumi said with a bright smile. "Though I'm a little disappointed in myself that, after meeting you, I didn't put 2 and 2 together sooner." She add with a laugh. "Well let's see what our parents got us."

With that they open the suspiciously identical boxes. Opening and pulling out the boxes contents they found they got the same thing. The items looked like miniature Pokemon Transporters. Reading the instructions they found that's exactly what they were. All you had to do was connect to the main transporter i.e the one you send Pokemon to and it'll connect just about anywhere. You just needed to get in contact with the caretaker like you do from the Poke'Center and swap Pokemon.

"Well this just made our training easier hasn't it." Naruto stated more than asked.

Ayumi just nodded as she was reading a note that came with hears. "It seem these are prototypes. Dad says me and one other are going to be testing these and to report about anything that goes on with them, even the smallest thing could be good or disastrous." She stated seriously.

"So the Devon Inc, your family, are the one's that made these?" Seeing her nod, "Then I'll be happy to assist in this." He agreed with a smile, getting a smile in return. He soon found a note in his own package and gave it a quick read. "Well it seems like Uncle Obito already set mine up for me. What about yours?"

"Yeah my Pokemon caretaker Kazuki set it up as well." She smiled. "Well we should be heading towards the gym now, don't you think?"

"Yeah we're ready for this." Was said before they both put there new items in their room and headed for the gym. Once they made it they step in and made their way towards the battle field. Across the field was tan skinned man with slits for eyes.

"My name's Flint and I'm the Pewter City Gym Leader. I'm I correct to assume one or both of you are here to challenge me for the Boulder Badge?" The man named Flint asked.

"Yes I'm Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze and I'm hear to challenge you for the Boulder Badge!"Naruto stated.

"I'm Ayumi Devon and I'm challenging for the Boulder Badge as well!" Ayumi stated as well

"Very well, who is the first challenger?" He asked and saw Naruto step forward, "Alright the rules are a two v two match and the only one allowed to substitute is the challenger. Is that expectable?" Seeing a nod, "Alright the let the match begins. Go Geodude!"

"Elekid time to dance!"

When both appeared Flint shook his head at the beginners mistake, "While your Elekid looks well cared for, it'll have no effect on my Pokemon. Geodude use Rollout!"

The Rock Pokemon tucked its arms in and started to rotate its body before lunching itself at Elekid. As it got closer everyone realized Naruto wasn't issuing any commands. 'So he froze up, ashame he looked to be as good as his parents at the start' Flint thought with disappointment. However...

'Elekid what till it gets close and stop it with Cross Chop.' Naruto calmly spoke with his mind.

'Right!' came a slightly high pitch voice. As both watched as their opponent got closer.

'Now!' Naruto mentally shouted. Following the order Elekid crossed its arms and both forces met and created a small shock wave, shocking Flint wondering how that happened or what happened. Elekid was being pushed back a bit but the Geodude was slowly coming to a stop.

When it became slow enough Naruto verbally shouted "Now use Brick Break and keep it up!"

"Vee" Raising an arm he brought it down on Geodude causing it to stop completely and give a cry of pain, but Elekid didn't quit and simply brought his other arm up, then back down.

"Geodude use Defense Curl and Rollout!" Trying to follow the command it tucked itself up again.

"Elekid Cross Chop now!" Elekid able to follow its orders faster, he was able to land its attack across the top of its head sending it flying back do to the force, slamming it into one of the boulder that littered the field. Once the dust cleared it showed the Pokemon down with swirls in its eyes.

Flint sadly sighed and returned his fallen Pokemon, "You did good Geodude take a nice long rest." He looked towards his challenger and saw he was petting and praising his Pokemon, bring a smile to the old Gym Leader's face. "I must say that your Elekid is more capable then I gave it credit for, I'm sorry for underestimating it"

"No worries it makes sense you would given I'm a new trainer and I'm using an electric type against a ground type." Naruto said while Elekid nodded in agreement.

"Well I'm not making that mistake again. Go Ryhorn!" And out came a rhinoceros made of rocks. Seeing the new opponent Elekid started to spin its arms generating electricity and gave its best war cry at the Spikes Pokemon.

Naruto laugh softly at this before saying, "Now, now, Elekid let's give Brionne a chance to shine." While disappointed that he couldn't fight anymore, he understood what this would mean for the Sea Lion Pokemon. "Ok Brionne come out and shine!"

"Nee!" She shouted while standing on her flippers, before getting down and narrowing her eyes at her opponent.

"Then let the match begin!" Flint shouted. "Ryhorn Horn Attack!" And with that his Pokemon rush, with surprising speed, at the little Sea Lion.

'Aqua Jet around it and use Bubble Beam!' Naruto, once more, mentally commanded and watched as she immediately did as told.

Seeing the foreign Pokemon shooting around his Ryhorn and hitting it with bubbles, Flint thought 'How is he doing this' before ordering "Ryhorn try and stop it with Rock Throw!"

Ryhorn started lunching rocks in all directions hoping to the attack, "Brionne Icy Wind from above now!"

Brionne shot up into the air above Ryhorn she dispelled her watery cloak and putting all her power she shot out a beam of ice instead of a chilling wind. Regardless of said move, it still did its job of freezing the Spikes Pokemon in a block of ice.

Seeing his Pokemon unable to move, Flint recalled his Pokemon, "Well ya beat me, I have a lot of rust to work off." He said laughing a bit, before turning his attention to the young silverette, "Well little lady, can you give just as a thrilling match?"

"You'll have to wait and see old man " Ayumi said with a challenging smirk.

While this was going on, "You did a fantastic job Brionne, both of you did!" Naruto praised his Pokemon while petting their heads.

'Yeah that was fun, when's my next match gonna be?' Elekid said while shadow boxing.

Brionne meanwhile started doing backflips cheering, 'I did it, I did it!' Before she stopped and hugged her trainer's leg.

It was then they noticed Ayumi coming over for her turn, "That was an amazing match! Elekid you're stronger than your size let's on. And Brionne congratulations on learning Ice Beam like that." She said smiling at them. Before her smile turned into a smirk, "Now stand back watch my Pokemon at work." She said and took her place, after both gave one another a high five.

"Well you already know the rules so I don't see a reason to prolong the match. Go Geodude!" Flint said while sending out another Geodude.

"Alright Shroomish let's end this quickly!"

"Use Rock Throw Geodude!" Geodude slammed its fists into the ground, sending rock flying out.

"Use the rocks like platforms and get close!" Showing surprising agility the little Mushroom Pokemon started parkouring across the rocks getting as close as possible, "Now launch a Poisonous Leech Seed"

Shroomish body started to shake before it shot seeds from it head that were covered in a purple powder hitting Geodude with the seed sprouting vines that wrapped around its body zapping it of its healthy.

"Mega Drain!" Before Flint could issue an attack Geodude body glowed green before its energy was absorbed into Shroomish's own body. The end result was Geodude fainting.

'This is what I get for not training and only selling rocks' Flint thought as he recalled his Pokemon. "Well here's my last Pokemon. Go Onix!" A large snake made of rocks appeared on the field.

"Alright Shroomish let's give Prinplup some fun!" Ayumi said as she recalled Shroomish and sent out her penguin Pokemon. "Aqua Meat Claw!" Was her immediate call.

Prinplup launch itself at Onix in a watery cloak with flippers out to its sides as it quickly struck with double attack knocking Onix out in one move, shocking everyone save Ayumi.

Flint sighed "well I definitely need to train otherwise the gym will lower in rank" as he returned Onix to its Poke'Ball.

"You don't know the meaning of holding back, huh Ayumi." It was a lazie statement from the lethargic trainer, as he walk over to her.

"What's holding back?" She innocently asked with smile. Before they turned their attention towards the Gym Leader as he made it over to them.

"Well you both beat me fair and square and as proof here is the official Boulder Badge." He said smiling as he handed them both the official League Badge. "Also I want to thank you, if it wasn't for this, I wouldn't have known where to start my training to get back in shape."

"And thank you for a fun first Gym Battle." Naruto lazily said with a wave, causing the gym leader to feel sweat drip down the back of his head at the attitude of change.

Ayumi was laughing a little at her friends switch in personality also thanked Flint before both trainers took their leave.

Outside

"Well not as enjoyable as I thought it would be, but it was a fun experience and it seemed Brionne got her confidence back." Naruto said looking at said Pokemon's Poke'Ball.

"Yeah but Elekid and Shroomish got some good experience out of this as well" Ayumi said smiling. "Now where to?"

"Mt. Moon the Cerulean City." Naruto said the map on his Poke'Navi.

"Cool I've always wanted to see Clefairy in the wild."

"Then let's get our Pokemon healed and head out tomorrow morning."
