Hailey's p.o.v
My eyes widened. Pitch held something with my face on it. I sat up as best as I could and looked at it.
"Are those teeth?" I asked in a shaky voice.
"Not just any teeth… Yours." Pitch said. "Before you became a Spirit."
"I-I had a family…" I stuttered. "I was human?"
"Indeed and you have such nightmarish memories." Pitch said. "They are deliciously wonderful to watch."
"Please…. I need to see my memories!" I pleaded.
"No…" Pitch said with a smirk as he disappeared in a swirl of black sand.
I wanted to cry. At this point i felt like giving in… I felt his icy hand on my back and more black sand pouring on to my back. It was so painful my vision blurred and all I saw was black.
Meanwhile with Jack and the other Guardians...
No one's P.O.V
"Hahahahaha! Quickly! Quickly!" North cheered, popping in and out of chimneys in a puff of black smoke, gathering the teeth of the children in China. Bunny ran on the roofs, hopping from window to window since he couldn't fly like Jack and Sandy could.
"Hop to it rabbit, I'm five teeth ahead!" Jack shouted, playfully switching from flying to running on the roofs.
"Yeah right, Look, I'd tell you to scurry out of my way, but really what's the point?" Bunnymund asked. "Because you wouldn't keep up anyway!"
"Is that a challenge Cottontail!?" Jack challenged.
As this went on Tooth was trying to keep her cool and her excitement in check.
"A race!?" North asked, only overhearing the word: race. "Is it a race!? This is going to be. Epic!"
"They're everywhere!" Tooth shouted happily and no longer keeping her cool, not seeing where she was flying, she accidentally crashed into a billboard with a tooth paste ad on it.
"Own!" Tooth squeaked as she rubbed her head.
"Oh, you ok?" Jack asked form the top of the billboard.
"Oh fine! Sorry," Tooth flew up to Jack, "it's just been a long time since I've been out in the field."
"How long is a 'long time'?" Jack asked with Curiosity.
"Four hundred-forty years give or take?" Then from far off, she spotted a tooth that shone in the moonlight. She flew over to it.
Jack gave Baby Tooth a "is she always like this?" look, and she just shrugged her shoulders. Jack continued to do his part in collecting teeth. In one house, before he could even set a foot in, Bunny beat him to it. He held up the tooth and taunted Jack by holding it up and chuckling. Jack frowned, and before Bunny knew it, he was hit in the face with Jack's frost. He quickly hopped through one of his holes and rubbed at his face, attempting to defrost it.
The gang moved on to India, where North got teeth from twins, Bunny got a jackpot from a kid that clearly overdid it while playing hockey, and Sandy stole a tooth from North when Bunny accidentally opened a hole under him, the result ended with both North and Bunny stuck in the hole and Sandy claiming another tooth. Bunny got back at Jack for freezing his face by opening a hole right when Jack set his feet on the ground, causing Jack to fall right in.
In France, Tooth ran into the Tooth Mouse, which Baby Tooth gave a good beating on accident. Determined to catch Bunny by surprise, Jack hid by the roof of a house he saw Bunny enter and waited. Meanwhile, North did a little dance before jumping down a chimney, he didn't see that Bunny had entered the house first, and was now lighting the fireplace.
"Ho ho ho."
BOOM!
After all the teeth were collected, everyone held up their bags to present to Tooth, who gave them a round of applause.
"Wow, you guys collect teeth and leave gifts as fast as my fairies."
At the mention of "leaving gifts," everyone gave her a confused look.
"You guys have been leaving gifts, right?" Tooth asked, worried. Sandy began to nod, but then shook his head. They all went back and focused on giving the children something. Jack, and Sandy relied on quarters as gifts (which they got from a coin exchanger at places they could find that had one), Bunny left his eggs, and North left candies and presents (even went as far as leaving a huge, lit up tree as a gift).
As they continued, they was all oblivious to the Nightmare that watched them from the shadows . . . . Jack, and Tooth got to Jamie's house at the same time.
"This one was knocked out by a freak sledding accident," Tooth said, collecting Jamie's tooth, "I wonder how that could've happened? Jack?"
Jack chuckled nervously while looking at a picture of the accident Jamie had drawn.
"Kids huh?" Tooth twirled the quarter in her hand before putting it under Jamie's pillow. She hovered above Jamie's bed, taking in the sight of his sleeping figure. "This was always the part I liked most. Seeing the kids."
"Oh why did I ever stop doing this?" Tooth asked herself.
"It's always a little different up close huh?" Jack stated. Tooth smiled at the winter spirit.
"Thanks for being here Jack, I wish I'd known about you and Hailey's memories I could've helped you guys."
"Tooth, don't worry about us, let's just get you taken care of," Jack said, putting a hand on Tooth's shoulder.
"Then it's Pitch's turn," A huge groan was heard from the window. It was North trying to squeeze through Jamie's window.
"Ah! Here you are!" he half shouted, finally getting through after a couple more tries. Sandy followed behind him. Tooth shushed them, pointing to Jamie.
"Oh, what gives slowpokes?" North asked in a whisper, then he turned his attention at Tooth, "How're you feeling Toothy?"
"Believed in," she answered confidently. North let out a quite chuckle,
"That's what I want to hear." A hole appeared in the back of the room with Bunny coming from it.
"Ah I see how it it," he said, jumping out of his hole, "all working together and make sure the rabbit gets last place." Everyone shushed him at the same time. He waved his paws in front of him, telling them that he gets it.
"You think I need help to beat a bunny?" Jack said as he held up his bag, "check it out Peter Cottontail."
"You call that a bag of choppers?" Bunnymund as he presented his bag, it was clearly bigger then Jack's "Now that's a bag of choppers."
"Gentlemen, this is about Tooth, it's not a competition." North stated.
"But if it was," North threw down his bag that was the biggest out of all of the bags, "I would be the winner!"
Before anyone could stop him, North let out a bunch of loud cheers and jumped up and down. It was all stopped when the light from a flashlight was shined upon them.
"Oh no . . . ." North said, seeing what he had done. Jamie gasped.
"Santa Claus?" the light went to Bunny, "the Easter Bunny?" down to Sandy, "Sandman?" Sandy gave him a cute smile and a wave. Finally, Jamie saw Tooth, "The Tooth Fairy! I knew you'd come!" he said happily. Tooth decided to play along, "Surprise! We came!"
"He can see us?" Jack asked, baffled by that fact.
"Most of us," Bunny said. As Jamie continued to shine his flashlight, Jack noticed that he never really pointed it at him. Jack lowered her head, looking at the ground with a look of disappointment.
"You guys! He's still awake!" tooth half shouted.
"Sandy, knock him out!" Bunny ordered. Sandy curled his hands into fists, "with the dreams sand you gumbies!" Out of nowhere, Jamie's greyhound appeared on top of his head, growling at Bunny.
"No stop! That's the Easter Bunny!" Jamie shouted, trying to get his dog to stop, "what are you doing Abbie!? Down!" Even though Abbie's attention was on Bunny.
"Alright, nobody panic," Bunny set his bag down to be ready for anything this dog may pull.
"But that's a um . . . that's a grey hound, do you know what greyhounds DO to rabbits?" Jack said, really emphasizing the word "do."
"Eh, he's never met a rabbit like me," Bunny said while Sandy created a ball of his sand, "six foot one, nerves of steel, master of tai chi." Jack rolled his eyes and looked over at Jamie's alarm clock, hitting it with his staff, he set it off . . . and Abbie. She lunged at Bunny.
"Crikey! Ahhh!" Bunny bounced everywhere around the room, trying to avoid being attacked by Abbie.
Sandy tried to aim for Abbie to stop her, but the greyhound was moving too fast. Jamie was shouting commands, but nothing was working. Abbie accidentally jumped on Sandy, making him throw his dream sand. It hit Tooth and Baby Tooth first, knocking them both out, they both had little images of teeth swirling around their heads, showing what they were dreaming about.
"Get this dingo off me!" Bunny yelled out. The dream sand reflect off a picture frame and hit Bunny, his images were carrots, and then it finally got Abbie, who was dreaming about bones. But it wasn't finished there, it bounced off and hit North, little pictures of candy canes circled his head.
"Candy canes . . ." he said sleepily. He fell on Jamie's bed, causing him to fly off and land in Sandy's arms, where Sandy sprinkled some sand and Jamie was off into dreamland. During all this, Jack watched while perched on a dresser.
"Whoops." He saw Bunny's carrots grow hand and began to do moves with North's candy canes. Laughing, he got down from the dresser.
"Hahahaha! Oh I really wish I had a camera right now," he said through his laughter. "Hey come on, it was funny!"
Jack and helped Sandy get Jamie back to bed. All of a sudden, the sound of angry neighing was heard. The three looked out the window, it was one of Pitch's Nightmares. It glanced at them and quickly ran away. Jack smiled, knowing that if a Nightmare was, Pitch wasn't too far behind. He rode the wind while shouting to the others, "Sandy, come on we can find Pitch!" Sandy followed Jack.
In the air, Jack and Sandy All of a sudden, ahead of them, a Nightmare was galloping through the air. Jack followed it while Sandy took care of a few. he jumped to a rooftop and he managed to frees it causing a frozen black mark on the roof, and he did that to a few others that had come at him.
"Frost," a familiar voice said. Jack was the first to look back. It was Pitch. Jack fired his staff, but Pitch disappeared before the frost could hit him.
"You know, for a neutral party, you spend an awful lot of time with those weirdos." Pitch reappeared on a higher leveled roof. this time he had a small smirk on his face.
"Shut up, you made it my fight when you stole those teeth and took Hailey!" Jack shouted at the dark spirit.
"Teeth? Why do you care about the teeth?" But before Pitch could get an answer, he felt a presence near him. Following his instincts, he looked to his side. Standing next to him was Sandy, arms crossed and with a mad look on his face. Pitch jumped back a bit, not knowing how Sandy got there without anyone noticing. He recovered quickly and let out a chuckle.
"Now this is who I'm looking for." Without warning, Sandy lashed out at Pitch with his dream sand, formed into whips. Pitch fought back with his own sand transformed into a scythe. As they two fought, Sandy saw an opening and caught Pitch, tying his wrists together and throwing him hard against the walls and floor. And for good measure, Sandy launched Pitch off the roof, causing for him to hit a car and land roughly on the street. Jack joined Sandy, impressed with his power.
"Remind me not to get on your bad side," Jack said. Sandy floated down to the streets. Jack jumped down to join Sandy, who watched as Pitch struggled to get to his feet.
"Okay, easy. You can't blame me for trying Sandy. You don't know what it's like to be weak and hated," Pitch finally managed to stand up, "it was stupid of me to mess with your dreams. So, I'll tell you what," he suddenly said in a scary voice, "You're gonna have them back." Nightmares appeared by the dozens, neighing and snorting, surrounding the two.
"You take the ones on the left I take the ones on the right?" Jack said, although it sounded more like a question.
Pitch mounted a Nightmare and approached them, Sandy got his sand ready for attack and Pitch smirked.
"Boo!" The Nightmares charged. Sandy whipped them, destroying them, Jack froze them, but there were simply too many for them to fight on their own. Then, above them, they saw the sleigh with the rest of the guardians in it, still trying to become fully awake from their sleep. Sandy grabbed Jack by the hand and lifted him up, launching them into the sky so the Nightmares could follow, thus allowing North, Bunny, and Tooth to fight them with open space.
Now in the air, Jack really let loose on his attacks. As Jack fought, in his blind spot, a Nightmare charged at him, but was destroyed by Tooth before it could touch him. From the ground, Pitch led his army to the skies. Bunny leaped from the sleigh when it was close to the ground and attacked the Nightmares that were going up with his boomerang. North swung his huge blades around with a jolly laugh, slicing the Nightmares one after another.
Meanwhile, Sandy was having a tough time defending himself again the black sand and Nightmares, lashing out with his whip didn't seem to lessen the numbers of Nightmares and amount of black sand that were there, but he kept trying. Jack noticed that Sandy was in trouble. He had also noticed and strange cage floating near pitch, but right now his main focus was to help Sandy.
"We gotta help Sandy!" North nodded and cracked the reigns, heading towards Sandy's fight. Not known to anyone, Pitch created an arrow with his sand, pulled back on an imaginary bow, and fired. It hit Sandy in the back.
"NOOOO!" Jack screamed. Riding the wind, he flew in hopes of
helping Sandy.
"Jack!" North called, urging the reindeer to fly faster. Pitch's laughter filled the skies.
"Don't fight the fear little man! Hahahaha!" Tooth tried to go and help, but the Nightmares had the sleigh surrounded, preventing any passage. North knew that it was up to Jack.
"Hurry Jack!" Jack pushed himself harder.
"I'd say 'sweet dreams,' but there aren't any left," Pitch said as Sandy fell to his knees on his sand cloud. The black sand invaded his body, weakening him and consuming him. Before long, there was no trace of Sandy anywhere.
"Sandy?" North said, not believing what he was seeing. Jack couldn't believe it either.
"No . . . . NOOOOOOOO!" The wind carrying Jack got stronger, sending him forward at full speed. Pitch saw Jack coming, he gathered his black sand and hurled it at Jack, it was in the form of a huge wave, one you would see at the beach. Jack tried to fall back, but the wave was coming in fast.
What they didn't notice was the person watching from the cage. it was none other than the autumn spirit herself she had saw everything. she grit her teeth as the giant wave appeared. She let out a scream which caught the guardians attention.
"Jack!"
she couldn't bear the thought of losing another one of her dear friends in one day. she made it so her wind would aid the guardians but knew it wasn't enough, suddenly a light appeared from the wave that had covered Jack and The light was coming from Jack. His entire body shone white and shot a shockwave of his power. His power froze the black sand wave, it traveled throughout the entire thing, exploding and reaching Pitch. He gave a look of shock and was hit with Jack's blast, knocking him in for a loop and the cage of black sand holding Hailey disappeared causing her to fall
The sudden blast of power made Jack lightheaded and he began to fall, Hailey fell and he had only enough energy in his arms to wrap them around her, Thanks to Hailey's winds from earlier the guardians were able fly over and the winter and autumn spirits landed in North's sleigh,Jack groaned from the strain, but all in all, he was ok but he knew Hailey was passed out and needed to rest, other than that he hoped she was ok.. but he was wondering about the powers he had just used against pitch
"Jack, how'd you do that?" North asked.
"I . . . I didn't know I could." Jack replied as North created a portal back to the Pole.
