Chapter 6: Disappointment and Fear

Me: WHOA?! Another Chapter!? XD I am goodddddddddddddd X3 I hope you all in enjoy chapter 6! :3 I do not own Rise of the Guardians :3 just My OC X3

Hailey and Jack flew to where the other guardians were, they were at an Easter egg hunt somewhere in Europe. Jack and Hailey landed somewhere a little away from where they stood, not wanting to just swoop down and receive questions so quickly, but as they approached the others, they saw Bunny trying to give an egg to a child…. but the boy just walked through him, just like people walk through Jack and Hailey everyday. Both feeling guilt hit them watching Bunny's face filled with shocked and fear, neither of them had seen Bunny like that, ever.

North was the first to notice Jack and Hailey's presence as they approached the guardians walking over to them to meet them halfway.

"Jack! Hailey! Where did you go? The Nightmares attacked the tunnels! They smashed all of the eggs, crushed every basket, nothing made it to the surface."

"No….," Hailey mumbled her hand covering her mouth, wishing that this was all just a bad dream Pitch created.

"Jack! Hailey!" Tooth was the next one to see that they had return. She saw the tooth case in Jack's hands and the case that stuck out of his hoodie pocket and gasped, "Where'd you get those?"

"I was . . . . it's . . ." Jack tried to answer, but didn't know how he could explain it, and in Truth neither did Hailey.

"Where's Baby Tooth?" she asked, seeing that Baby Tooth wasn't flying around them like she would. Once again, Jack didn't answer, but Tooth understood what had happened seeing how jack could not reply to her question. Shock her hands covering her mouth as she fluttered backwards from the two spirits.

"Jack, what've you done?"

"'That' is why you two weren't here?" North asked in disbelief, "You both were with 'Pitch'!?" Hailey flinched but didn't back away, she'd never heard or seen North talk in such a manner.

"No listen listen, listen . . . . I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this to happen."

"and So am I, we should've just come back right away after dropping off Sophie at her house," Hailey added, trying to take some of the blame. "We didn't mean for anything to happen."

"He has to go," Bunny suddenly said.

"What?" Hailey asked not believing the words that had come out of Bunny's mouth.

"We should never have trusted you!" Bunny's paw formed into a fist. Hailey quickly stepped between him and Jack and grabbing Bunny's arm hoping to stop him from hurting Jack.

"Bunny stop," she said, keeping Bunny back by holding his arm, "Jack isn't the only one to blame here… I am too." Bunny's glare softened, but then changed into a look of despair as she looked at Jack directly moving Hailey's hand from his arm.

"Easter is new beginnings, new life. Easter's about hope, and now it's gone," Bunny's ears fell behind his head as he walked away. Jack looked back at North and Tooth, but they turned their heads away not wanting to look at him. Jack pulled out the little baby wooden baby that North gave him and just let it fall to the ground turning his back on them and Hailey.

"Jack?" Hailey asked moving to touch his shoulder.

"Hailey, forget what I said about staying close to me, stay far away from me," Jack said harshly glancing slightly at her seeing her move closer. "Stay away, or I will give you a reason to keep you away from me…"

"Jack . . . . ." Hailey replied tears in her eyes and her ears flattened on her head as she reached for him only for him to take off quickly knocking her down on accident.

Hailey looked to the side and saw the baby doll, she took it into her hands as more tears ran down her cheeks. A furry paw was presented to her, she looked up, Bunny was offering it to help her up. She smiled through her tears and accepted his help and standing up.

"Thanks... and I'm really sorry about all this Bunny." He surprised her by wrapping his huge arms around her, holding her close to his soft chest in a like a big brother would hug his little sister.

"It's alright, at least Pitch didn't do anything to you." Hailey cried silently into Bunny's chest. Bunny waited until he heard her cries diminish.

"Better?"

"Yes, thank you Bunny, you're too kind," Hailey said wiping her eyes as she pulled away from the overgrown bunny.

"Don't mention it," Bunny said.

Hailey turned and looked up at the sky before looking down at the tony wooden baby in her hand.

"Hailey, where are you doing?" Bunny asked.

"I . . . . . I'm going to find Jack." Hailey responded looking at Bunny.

"Wha-!?"

"I know he didn't mean it, I need to let him know that I'm not giving up just yet." Hailey said as Bunny gently grabbed her by the shoulder.

"No Hailey, if you go out there, Pitch could do something to you, come back to the pole with us, you'll be safe there." Bunny suggested Hailey pushed Bunny's hand away stepping away.

"Sorry Bunny, but I know that there's something Jack and I can do to turn all this around." Hailey replied. "I'm not hiding from Pitch."

"Hailey, don't do this, you'll put yourself in danger." Bunny warned.

"And I'll happily do it if it can save everyone, it's my job as a Guardian, Best of luck to you and the other two." Hailey flew away, determined to find Jack.

(and before you ask about Hailey not looking into her memories, Jack still has her tooth case in his hoodie XD)

After a long while of just flying around and not finding Jack, Hailey seated herself on top of a tall tree in a forest her tail wrapping around her waist.

'It's no use, I can't find him... Think Hailey think! If I were a troubled spirit, where would I go?'

She sat there in the tree pondering the places she had looked for Jack and where he might looking to the moon for inspiration, then it came to her…. Antarctica!

"Thats where I need to go!" She exclaimed to herself.

"Why, isn't this a pleasant surprise?" Hailey almost fell out of the tree from the sound of the sudden voice and the feeling of someone looming over her, "and what are we up to?"

Pitch asked appearing in the moonlight while Hailey gave him a glare.

"Stay away from me Pitch, I'm looking for Jack." Hailey Snarled backing up and floating with the wind.

"My, this is such a coincidence, I'm looking for him as well, why don't we look for him together my dear." Pitch said with a smirk.

"I'm not going anywhere with you!"

In an attempt to lose Pitch, Hailey decided to use the Trees to her advantage leaping from branch to branch fast in a random directions, zigzagging and swinging from high branches. When she thought she had lost him, she used the wind and flew up before stopping in an open space in the forest.

"Now that he's gone, time to find Jack." Hailey said with relief attempting to take off.

"I'm afraid you're mistaken little autumn spirit." Pitch's voice rang out as he appeared in front of her like a jumpscare causing her to squeak in surprise.

"Don't you have something better to do than stalking me so you can find Jack!?" she snapped at him.

"I'm afraid finding Jack is my top priority as of now." Pitch replied

"Why?" Hailey questioned not letting her guard down and glaring at the Boogeyman.

"That's for me to know and for you to find out my dear, But since you're here, might as well give you an offer, why not join me and become mine?" Pitch offered causing Hailey's eye to widen.

"What!?" she asked.

"I can feel the power inside you, it is great, but don't you think you're wasting it trying to help those guardians?" Pitch said. "They only see you as a burden."

"No, I don't. And besides, how would someone who wields light like me be able to help someone who wields darkness like you?" Hailey questioned.

"You look weak on the outside but, All you would need is a touch of my darkness, and that power will come forward." Pitch explained. "Imagine it Autumn-heart (her last name in case any of you don't remember :3), all of the power that could be at your fingertips."

"I'll never join you nor would I ever be yours! Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go." Hailey growled about to take off.

"I think not, unless you don't care what happens to her," Pitch held up his fist, Baby Tooth was caught in it.

"Baby Tooth!" Hailey said in shock, lunging forward, Pitch's fist tightened, she was forced to stay back, otherwise Baby Tooth will suffer the consequences.

"Now, let's try this again, come with me, or Baby Tooth gets it!" Baby Tooth gave Hailey a frightened look that said "Don't listen to him!" Hailey clenched her teeth before letting her ears and tail droop before saying. "Ok."

"I knew we could work things out." Black sand coiled itself around Hailey's wrists burning her skin like the first time the black sand touched her skin, forcing them behind her back and hardening, acting like chains.

"Ok, you have me, now let her go." Hailey said biting her lip to ignore the pain.

"Very well," Pitch unraveled his fist and Baby Tooth immediately flew and hid inside Hailey's shirt pocket hiding from Pitch. "Now, you have an idea of where Jack could be?"

"If I were a winter spirit in a bad mood, I'd go somewhere where it's cold year round, I believe that he could be in Antarctica." Hailey answered revealing her idea to Pitch.

"My, you are a clever girl," Pitch said, grabbing Hailey hard by the arm, "Let's go shall we?"
