Chapter 7: Incoming Hopelessness, Memories coming to Light!

(Hailey's Point of View)

Hailey found herself in darkness the moment she had opened her eyes. The atmosphere of the darkness felt cold and empty, she couldn't reach for her powers to help her out, But I wasn't concerned about that, my main worry was about Jack. Thinking about what Pitch could do to Jack, my blood started to boil along with my concern for the first spirt's safety.

"If Pitch hurts him, I'll kick him in his pointy nos-."

Before I could Finish my thought, the darkness around me suddenly began to vanish, and before I knew it, I was in Antarctica, my arm being held by the Boogeyman himself, my hands still bound by black sand chains.

"Hailey!"

My ears perked up as my eyes, drawn to the source of the voice calling out my name, my eyes landed on the winter spirit that had captured my heart, relief filled my body... Jack was ok and Pitch had not hurt him.

"Jack!" I cried out to him my tail wagging lightly.

Pitch conjured up his sand and created a dagger in a flash, he held it to my throat lightly touching my skin not only that, I could feel baby Tooth quiver in my dress pocket at the sudden movement.

"No!" Jack snapped gripping his staff in his hand.

(No One's Point of View)

Jack wanted to attack, but knew that if he did, Pitch would slit Hailey's throat. He still pointed his staff at Pitch while glaring. If looks could wound, Pitch would have already been defeated, and Hailey would be safe.

"The staff Jack!" Pitch demanded glaring at him, "You have a really bad habit of interfering in others affairs, now hand it over, and I'll let her go," He pressed the blade harder on Hailey's neck, a whimper of pain emanating from her throat.

"Jack . . . . don't do it . . ." She managed to say her eyes looking at Jack pleadingly. Jack stood in his stance, but then dropped it and held out his staff to Pitch. Pitch sneered and dropped his dagger, grabbing Jack's staff with a grin.

"Alright, now let her go." Jack said/

". . . . . no." Jack's face now showed concern, fearful for Hailey's safety and shock as well at Pitch's response, "You said you wanted to be alone, so 'be' alone!"

Baby Tooth suddenly flew out of Hailey's pocket and stabbed at Pitch's hand that held her with her beak. Pitch yelped, letting go of Hailey, but there wasn't much she could do still bound up with his sand in the form of chains. Pitch reached out, grabbed Baby Tooth, and threw her hard into the distance.

"No!" Hailey shouted/cried out. "Baby Tooth!"

"Quiet you!" Pitch shoved her down hard to the ground.

"Hailey!" jack shouted, But before Jack could run to her side, Pitch held the staff in both of his hands and snapped it in two. Jack yelled out in agony.

"NO! JACK!" Hailey cried out tears forming in her eyes.

Pitch attacked him with his sand, sending Jack away and into a deep fissure in the ground, knocking him out while retrieving Hailey's Tooth case.

"No . . . . . oh please no." Hailey felt Pitch grab her and hoist her up roughly. Dragging her along with him, Pitch examined the fissure where Jack had fallen into. Jack's body lay there limp and unmoving but still breathing.

"Jack! Jack can you hear me!? Please say something!" She cried hoping for him to say something back to her.

"He'll never hear you again my dear," Pitch said, throwing Jack's broken staff to him, "but out of the kindness of my heart, I think I'll leave him with something to remember you by," he ripped the tiara from Hailey's head, "to remind him how he failed to protect you in the end."

"Give that back!" Pitch only chuckled as he threw her headband, it landed right next to Jack.

"Jack . . . . no . . ." Hailey said, all of her hope leaving her body.

With that Pitch took off back to his lair, Hailey still within his grasp. What felt like moments later Pitch had arrived at his lair, the tooth cases of the children of the world, littered the floor. and above them Tooth's Fairies were in cages. Pitch shoved Hailey into a cage and dismissed the sand that bound her wrists making it cover the cage instead.

"There now, you just stay here and reconsider my offer. I really don't want to destroy you and have all your powers go to waste." Pitch said in mock concern.

Hailey didn't say anything back, her ears flattened to her head she rolled up in a tight ball and hid her face in her knees as her tail wrapped around her as well. She didn't want Pitch to see her cry, that would more than likely bring the boogeyman much joy.

"Oh, and thank you for your help with getting rid of Jack, here's a little something for your troubles." Hailey heard something hit the cage floor barely her feet, but didn't lift her head.

"Hmph, you both are so stubborn. If you two would have agreed to join me, none of this would have been necessary, why, you two would be together forever, being believed in."

"No, we would be feared, and that's not what we want." Hailey said, her voice quivering slightly.

"Isn't it better to be feared than loved? Look where love got you, look where love got him! I suggest you put that useless emotion away if you wish to survive." With that, Pitch left.

Hailey finally lifted her head when she heard Pitch leave and looked at what he threw into the cage, it was her teeth case. She paid no mind to it though, her thoughts were only towards Jack. The sound of his scream from pain echoed through her mind and seeing his limp body haunted her memory.

She ran her fingers through her hair, not feeling her tiara that jack had given to her many years ago between her ears, she broke out into tears.

"...Jack, please be alright, I can't bear to lose you, I love you too much." From her tooth case, she heard two voices call out to her again.

"Hailey! Hailey!" The case began to glow brightly as the voices of a boy and a girl chanted. "Big sister!"

"Huh? What?" Hailey questioned.

Curiosity swimming her mind, Hailey picked it up and examined it. She slowly opened the case slowly, and when she did, all her memories poured into her mind like a waterfall or an overflowing dam. Suddenly she was face to face with two young faces…. then it hit her…. They were her siblings.
