Chapter 8: Reunited Once More

*with jack* *Jack's point of view*

Barely conscious I could hear Hailey calling my name while Pitch laughed. I couldn't move my body, when I could move I opened my eyes and crawled over to Baby Tooth, picking her up in my hands.

"Are you ok?" I asked getting a squeak in response as well as a sneeze.

"Sorry, All I can do is keep you cold," I said with a slight chuckle lifting her closer, looking away before sighing. "Pitch is right, I make a mess of everything…"

Baby Tooth moved a bit, I looked down and see her move from my hands into my hoodie pocket before I could protest. I let a slight sigh leave my mouth before laying down and leaning my head on the icy wall. I messed up, First, I ruin easter, then because of me leaving, Hailey got caught by Pitch again, now baby Tooth is freezing and I can't use my powers. Way to go, Jack, you're a real hero…

"Jack…. Jack!"

I open my eyes slightly seeing a glow happen in my sweatshirt, I jump back with a shout of surprise, my breathing and my heart racing. I reach into my pocket and pulled out the case that held my teeth, I had the case close to my face before I lowered it, seeing Baby Tooth on my knee looking up at me. Baby Tooth reach her hand over touching the case telling me to go ahead and open it. Trusting Baby Tooth I touched it causing it to open, for me to see my memories.

*meanwhile with Hailey*in the past*

Memories of her life, friends, family, and most of all, her siblings, Her sister Sierra a couple of years younger than her, and their little brother Kai. Hailey had many fun times with them, making them smile, Teaching them how to guide themselves home if lost in the woods.

Hailey found herself running wearing a hood made of fox furs, holding her siblings hands as they ran from people on horses. after running for what seemed like forever Hailey looked to her sibling, Both were out of breath and needed to rest.

"Hailey, can we rest?" Kai asked still out of breath.

"Yeah we've been running for ages," Sierra added.

Hailey knew that the peace would not last that long, spotting a big tree with a bush in front of it, she pushed the bushes back seeing that the tree was Hollowed out enough for two people to sit in. She ran as fast as she could only to be caught and tripped.

Everything went black and the and the last thoughts she had were the thoughts of her sister and brother safe from harm.

Hailey sat up in her cage Gasping after her memories returned to her so suddenly.

"T-that was my family!" Hailey thought hers perking up with happiness. "I had a little sister and a little brother and I kept them safe!"

That moment it hit her, What she was meant to do and why Manny had chosen her.

"I need to get out of here and get back to the other guardians!" She thought. "And I need to help them!"

Shaking the cage bars as hard as she could they wouldn't barge.

"Dang it!" She yelped loudly kicking the bars.

"Hailey?!" Her head snapped up at the sudden Voice that had reached her ears. 'Huh? That voice, could it be?' She stood up and looked around the cave tears welling up in her eyes.

"J-jack, Is that you?" Hailey asked cautiously.

In a matter of moments, Jack appeared at the side of her cage, looking better than ever. Happy tears spilled over from Hailey's eyes.

"Jack, You're ok!" She cried.

"Of course, I couldn't be ok without knowing that you were alright." He opened the cage and pulled Hailey in a tight hug which she happily accepted. "I'm just glad you're ok, I'm sorry about what how I acted at that Easter egg hunt, please forgive me."

"Of course Jack," Hailey replied as They separated.

Getting another look at the winter spirit she noticed that his staff was like brand new.

"Jack, your staff, how'd you fix it?" Hailey asked curiously.

"I'm not too sure myself, but I did. Oh here," he pulled Hailey's tiara out of his hoodie pocket with a smile, "I believe this belongs to you." He fitted it between her fuzzy ears, "There, you look like yourself again."

"Thank you, Jack," Hailey said with a smile

Baby Tooth popped out from Jack's hood and gave a happy little squeak.

"Baby Tooth! You're ok too!" Hailey exclaimed happily, patting the little fairy on the head.

"Yeah, if it weren't for her, I wouldn't have . . . ." Jack Stated then looked quite excited. "Oh, and I got my memories back! I remember everything before I became Jack Frost!"

"Me too!" Hailey said with a grin. "I had a little brother and sister, I saved him from Bandits."

"I saved my sister from drowning in a lake," Jack added.

"We really were meant to be guardians," Hailey said with enthusiasm.

"Yeah," Jack said. "Now let's get Baby Tooth's friends outta here as well and get back to everyone else."

"Right!" Hailey said, happy and relieved to see that Jack was back to his old self.

Hailey and Jack Flew to the cages the fairies were, both unlocking each cage as quick as they could.

Once the cages were opened Hailey and jack both noticed that the fairies were flying out or away.

"Come on let's go!" Jack urged, but the fairies still didn't fly away.

"Wha-what's wrong?" Jack asked he was expecting them to fly out of there. He looked around and noticed it was the same with all the other fairies.

"None of you can fly?" Hailey asked hearing Baby Tooth squeak out, pointing at the globe when she had Jacks and Hailey's attention…. The lights were going out again.

"The lights..." Jack flew down to the globe with Hailey close by holding onto Jack's arm, "They're all going out..."

"Only six left!" a voice belonging to Pitch said, he was standing on the globe, "Six precious children who still believe in the guardians with all their hearts."

"Oh . . . . actually, make that, five children who still believe." Pitch chuckled gleefully, getting excited on how there were only five lights left. He comically stepped on the next light as it went out, "Three! Two . . ." he snapped his fingers, expecting for the last light to go out. But to his surprise, it didn't. He snapped his fingers again, the light continued to shine.

"One?" he growled. Jack flew to the light and recognized the location of the last child who believed, Hailey getting it not long after Jack did.

"Jamie!" Hailey exclaimed.

"We have to get to him!" Jack said.

"No, you're not!" Pitch suddenly made an arrow and fired it at Jack.

"Jack look out!" Hailey cried as she shoved Jack only to get hit by the arrow and Fall to the cold Floor.

"NO!" Jack screamed, reliving the moment Sandy got hit by one of Pitch's arrows. He ran to Hailey's side, holding her gently as if she would break.

"Jack… you're safe." Hailey said in a weak voice her ears and tail looking limp. "Jack… go to Jamie."

"No, not without you." Jack Said in a pained tone, Hailey felt something wet hit her face and slide down her cheek. Hailey looked up into Jack's big bright, blue eyes, they were filled with tears and falling down his face. He was crying... for her?

"Jack...?" Hailey asked reaching a hand up to touch his cheek, his own hand Grabbing hers

"I-I don't want to lose you." He choked out.

"Awwww, isn't that sweet, it almost pains me to end this," Pitch drew his arrow once more, "but sadly I must."

"No way!" Jack growled scooping the Autumn spirit up in his arms and flew right out of there before Pitch could attack once more.
