Chapter 30

Leo was sitting in his room, Monty by his side, surrounded by toys. It was almost time for them to be leaving the house, but the little boy had decided he really didn't want to go anywhere; he wanted to stay with his mommy and daddy.

"Leo! Hustle up, little man, we gotta roll in five minutes!" His daddy called through the house.

His lower lip pouted and he leaned his head against Monty's. "But I not wanna go..." He said sadly. The dog whimpered as well.

Leo quickly tried to come up with a plan that would allow him to stay at home with his mommy and his daddy and his puppy. Why would he want to go anywhere else when he had them to play with? Leo wasn't sure why grown people left home every day.

Suddenly, he heard footsteps coming down the hall. "Hey Deeks? Have you seen where I put my-" his mommy started to yell through the apartment, but his daddy quickly answered her.

"It's in the kitchen, Princess!" He yelled back.
"Thank you!"

Then he saw his mommy walk passed his door and immediately got an idea. "Mommy!" He yelled quickly.

Kensi immediately turned around and walked back to Leo's door. "Yeah, baby?" She asked, concerned.

"Can I go to work wif you and Daddy today? I not wanna leab you." Leo pouted, giving her puppy eyes.

"Oh, Leo your daddy and I really have to get work done today..." She trailed off.

The little boy jumped up and wrapped his tiny arms around her leg. "Pwease Mommy?" He asked sweetly.

Her face crumpled at the adorable gesture. "Leo..."

Suddenly his daddy appeared with a grin on his face. "What's goin' on here?" He asked.

"Leo really wants to come with us today." His mommy explained.

Deeks shifted on his feet and looked down at his son. "Buddy, we got a lot of work to do today and it's not going to be any fun at all." He said softly.

Oh darn. That didn't sound good for Leo's plan. "But Daddy, I'll miss you." He pouted.

"Aww...we'll miss you too, Leo. But we still need you to go to your babysitter today." Kensi replied.

Leo's pout intensified. "Oh gosh, Deeks. That face." Kensi whimpered.

"C'mon Kens, don't crack on me now." Deeks chuckled at her.

"Pwease?" Leo begged.

Deeks sighed and glanced at Kensi. "I'll tell you what. How about you go to Mr. Jason's like usual, but Kensi and I will try to drop by at lunch to visit for a little while. How's that work?"

Leo took a moment to consider this new plan. It didn't give him what he wanted, but it would be better than not seeing them at all until later that night. So, he smiled and nodded. "Otay Daddy!" He exclaimed.

"Awesome! Now c'mon, little man! We really gotta go. Grab your stuff for me, okay?" Deeks asked.

"Otay!" Leo agreed, releasing Kensi's leg and running over to his backpack. He rubbed a hand over Monty's back before telling him bye and running back over to his parents. When he got back over to them he saw them smiling at each other people his daddy dropped a kiss on his mommy's lips.

"Cooties." Leo mumbled, before tugging both of their hands to get back their attention.

"Well, that was an absolute waste of time." Deeks sighed as he and Kensi walked out of a shop in downtown LA. They had hoped the shop owner would have answers for their current case, but he turned out knowing nothing of use to them.

"I really thought he would know something." Kensi said, frustrated.

"Now what?" The shaggy agent asked his partner.
"I'll call Eric, see if anything turned up." Kensi replied, pulling her phone out.

Deeks reached the car first and leaned against it, hands shoved in his pockets as he watched his partner.

"Hey Eric, yea we questioned him but he was absolutely no help. You guys get anything new?" She inquired.

Deeks watched her as she spoke to their techie with a smile on his face. Suddenly his phone ringing drew his thoughts away from his partner.

"Deeks." He answered, his face scrunching up as a voice replied on the other line.

Kensi hung up her phone and turned to look at her partner. She smiled; she felt good about where she and Deeks stood after their talk a few days ago.

Then Kensi noticed the look on his face and stepped towards him.

"Wait, what?" Deeks asked. "I... Sir I sweat I had nothing to do with that. She did what?" He exclaimed, rubbing a hand through his hair.

Kensi became concerned as Deeks took a deep breath before letting it out slowly, looking resigned.

"Sir I apologize, but there is no way that I could have-" Deeks stopped, having obviously been interrupted. "I understand." He replied, before hanging up.

"Deeks what happened?" Kensi immediately asked.

"Apparently Rachel showed up at the police department this morning and made a helluva scene. Bates is pissed at me, he thinks it's my fault." Deeks explained.

"She's a grown woman who is responsible for her own actions." Kensi's eyes narrowed.
"But since she has a connection to me Bates thinks I'm obviously to blame." Deeks replied.

"Rachel does not have a connection to you." Kensi snapped.

The shaggy man chuckled. "Calm down, Fern. I know that. You know that. Problem is that Rachel can't get it through her head." Deeks told her, wrapping his arms around her.

Kensi sighed heavily but allowed her partner to hold her.

"What did Eric say?" he inquired, trying to get her mind off of Rachel.

"They're still searching. They had a small lead but it didn't sound promising. Callen and Sam went to check it out before they grabbed lunch for them and the Wonder Twins." Kensi explained.

Deeks was quiet for a moment, and he could tell Kensi was still stewing. "You know, there's a little boy that would really love it if his mommy and daddy took their lunch break with him." He suggested.

"He was so sad we when he asked to come to work with us." She mumbled against his neck.

"Thank you for standing with me. Meant a lot to me and I'm glad we're on the same page." Deeks told her fondly.

He could feel Kensi's frown turn into a smile against his skin. "Me too. C'mon, I wanna go see him." She demanded, tugging on his shirt.

"Lead the way, my lady." Deeks chuckled.

When Deeks and Kensi arrived at their apartment building, there was a strange car with no license plates sitting in Kensi's parking spot.

"Who the hell is in my spot?" Kensi immediately snapped.

"Calm down, maybe it's someone new and they just didn't know." Deeks replied.

"I've been parking here since the first time I ever came over here!" She objected.

"Well, later they'll move the car and you can reclaim your spot." He said soothingly.

"Fine." She grumbled, parking on the other side of Deeks's car.

The partners got out and quickly made their way upstairs. Deeks was telling her a joke to ease her nerves, when she stopped suddenly. He looked up and froze beside Kensi as she growled angrily.

"You've got to be kidding me." Kensi hissed.

Crouching outside their apartment was Rachel, with a small suitcase sitting next to her.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Kensi snapped.

Rachel jumped, dropping what looked to be two hair pins, which she had been trying to use as lock picks. "Oh, Marty! I'm so glad you're here!" The woman cooed.

"I can't return the sentiment, I'm afraid." Deeks replied curtly.

As Rachel's face fell slightly, Deeks could practically feel Kensi smirking at his reply.

"Were you really trying to break into the home of two federal agents?" Kensi inquired.

"Federal agents?" Rachel asked, confused.

"Yeah, no, see I'm no longer a cop. Or maybe after your visit to LAPD this morning you already knew that much." Deeks explained, hands shoved in his pockets.

"How did you know that I-" Rachel started, but was cut off.

"Did you really think they wouldn't call me after the scene you made?" Deeks chuckled, shaking his head.

"Well just when did you quit the LAPD, Marty?" She demanded, crossing her arms as her eyes flashed with anger.

"See Rachel, you left me. You dumped me. You decided you no longer wanted me in your life. So I don't owe you any explanation about what I do with my life." Deeks snapped.

"He's part of NCIS now; a federal agent, and an amazing one at that." Kensi said proudly.

Deeks couldn't help but smile at her words. "Actually, why the hell not. I'll tell you. I dropped LAPD and joined NCIS so they couldn't keep me from my partner anymore."" He grinned, grabbing Kensi's hand.

Rachel's face twisted in anger. "So you'd stop being a cop for her but not for me?" She exclaimed.

"Sure looks that way, doesn't it?" Deeks nodded.
"I cannot believe this!" Rachel squealed, stomping her foot childishly.

"Well that doesn't really matter. Why are you here?" Kensi snapped.

"Well not that it's any of your business, bitch, but I was trying to surprise my family. Since you weren't at the LAPD, Marty, I thought I'd surprise you!" Rachel said, smiling sweetly at the end.

"By breaking into my home." Deeks deadpanned.

Kensi walked closer to the woman, Deeks following right behind her; he didn't want a repeat of the last time the two faced off.

"One. It is my business, bitch; you're breaking into my home. Two. This isn't your family anymore, it's mine. Three. If I were you, I wouldn't continue these stupid attempts to fix something you broke long ago. Something that I helped fix. Now get out of my sight." Kensi said lowly, menacingly.

Rachel was obviously shaken by the female agent's threats. But, she still managed to retort. "No!" She snapped back.

Kensi shrugged and turned to grab her suitcase. "What are you doing?" Rachel yelled as Kensi walked to the railing.

The agent shot a fake smile at Rachel before turning and throwing the suitcase out into the parking lot, careful not to hit any people or cars.

"My stuff!" Rachel shrieked, shoving Kensi out of the way before running downstairs.

Deeks busted out laughing and doubled over, trying to catch his breath. "Oh my gosh!" He laughed hard, wiping tears from his eyes.

"You threw her suitcase. And did you see the arch you had on it?" he teased his partner lightly.

"C'mon, I wanna make sure she goes." Kensi shook her head, grinning.

"Oh my God. I am in love with a completely crazy badass." Deeks said, grinning.

Kensi's cheeks flushed as she looked at him. "Don't forget it, either." She told him.
"Oh trust me, you keep acting like that and I for sure won't." Deeks laughed.

They made it into the parking lot, where Rachel had stuffed her suitcase into the trunk of the car that was parked in Kensi's spot. "Of course it was her." Kensi mumbled as they approached her.

"Rachel, you need to leave us alone. And don't come back." Deeks told the woman firmly.

The woman turned to look at Kensi. "You're a bitch! He's only acting like this because of you!" She yelled, walking over and slapping Kensi across the face.

"Oh shit. Oh damn. Oh no. Do you have a death wish?" Deeks mumbled as he nervously watched his partner. He knew better than to get between the two of them.

Kensi shook the slap off before she rolled her shoulders back, and punched Rachel straight in the nose; knocking her flat on her back.

"Take that, bitch." Kensi spat as Rachel shrieked on the ground.

Rachel managed to scramble to her feet and hold her fists up, attempting to look menacing. Kensi simply smirked, getting into her fighting stance.

Deeks leaned against the car and sighed. He damn well wasn't about to try and break his fight up. But, he figured, he'd have to stop Kensi at some point least she kill the woman.

Rachel tried to go for Kensi's hair, but the agent simply knocked her arm away and jabbed the woman hard in the stomach, once again making Rachel fall to the ground.

"Owww!" Rachel hollered.
Give up and go. You don't wanna fight me. You won't win." Kensi snapped.

Rachel grabbed the agent's ankle and pulled, but only managed to pull Kensi on top of her. Kensi quickly got control of Rachel's arms and dealt a series of punches to the woman's face.

Deeks counted to five, then ran over to Kensi, gently easing her off the woman. "Kens, Kensi. That's enough, baby." Deeks told her soothingly, hooking his arms around hers to keep her still.

"Go!" Kensi bellowed, as her partner kept her in place.

Rachel was bleeding and sniffling, and Deeks almost felt sorry for her. But then Rachel opened her mouth. "You stupid whore! Go to Hell! And those boys aren't even worth all the fight you're putting in for them!"

"You're wrong! Deeks and Leo are worth everything!" Kensi snapped, lunging towards the woman, but Deeks kept her still.

"You keep thinking that! I'm sure that'll go away once he dumps you!" Rachel shrieked, before getting in her car.

Kensi ripped her arms from Deeks and pulled out her phone. She snapped pictures of the car as it drove away, before turning to her partner.

Deeks looked at her in complete awe. "I love you, Kensi Blye. Even when you go scary Momma Bear mode." He teased.

Kensi couldn't help but laugh. "Oh like you didn't enjoy that."

"You fighting for our family? Hell yeah I did; you're sexy as hell when you get protective and pissed." He admitted, tugging her to him and kissing her.

"How about you go on up to Leo? I'm gonna stay here for a minute and try to calm down." Kensi suggested.

"You good?" Deeks asked, wiping hair away from her face and tucking it behind her ears.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. I just need to breathe for a second. I don't wanna freak Leo out." She replied.

"Alright. I'll see you up there, Momma Bear." Deeks winked at her, dropping one more kiss to her lips before turning and heading upstairs.

Kensi quickly dialed a number on her phone and pressed it to her ear. "Hey Eric. I want you to track the car in those pictures I just sent you. And I need you and Nell to dig up anything and everything you can about one Rachel Smith. No, it doesn't have anything to do with the case. I just need you to do this for me. Thanks Eric, I owe you." Kensi grinned menacingly.

Rachel had parked her (stolen) car in a parking garage while she tried to make new living arrangements. Even though she'd searched for hours until it got dark, she couldn't find anything or anyone to help her out. Her face was still hurting from fighting with that bitch, and she winced as she unlocked her car and got in.

Rachel sighed as she sank into her seat and shut the door. A few moments passed, before all hell broke loose.

Suddenly, her driver side window shattered and glass fell all over her. She shrieked as an arm reached in and grabbed her face, holding her against the seat. The passenger door opened and Kensi slide in, looking smug as could be. Then, two guns clicked behind her, and a glance in the rear view mirror showed her two large men holding those guns. Rachel nervously looked at the person the arm holding her belonged to, and saw a fierce red headed woman glaring at her.

"You've been bothering our family, giving them a lot of trouble. So, we thought you might like some trouble from us." Kensi spoke.

A geeky man with a tablet abruptly threw himself onto the hood of her car, scooting forward towards her window to let her see what was on the tablet. "You do whatever you want, go wherever you want." Kensi narrated as the man slide his finger and pictures of her partying all over the country appeared.

"You travel, you party. Live it up. But, what about all those criminal charges? Do all your friends that take care of you know about those?" Kensi inquired.

The pictures changed to mug shots of hers, her being chased by police, and more. "Drug abuse. Theft. Grand theft auto. And oh look! Prostitution! Is that a senator paying you?" Kensi asked as more pictures were revealed and Rachel's eyes widened.

"I'm sure the press would have a field day with that. And you? You wouldn't be able to go anywhere. You'd be locked up in prison. That'd be some life, huh?" Kensi said coldly.

Rachel glanced at the red head holding her, and saw no warmth in her eyes. The geeky man had a look on his face that clearly read "I win".

"If you come near Deeks or Leo again, all of these come back to haunt you faster than I'm sure they were already going to. Leave. Them. Alone." Kensi hissed.

"Fine! They... they can be your family. I won't come back to LA." Rachel managed to spit out.

"Good girl." Kensi smiled, before the four of them got out of the car and the five of them stalked away. Rachel quickly turned her car on and drove away, never to bother the NCIS family again.

Kensi came back to the apartment late, Deeks was already in bed. She quickly changed and slipped in beside him. Deeks must've heard her or could simply tell he wasn't alone anymore, for he turned over and gathered her in his arms.

"Mm, you and Nell have fun, Fern?" He mumbled sleepily.

"We really did." Kensi grinned, running a finger across his lips that quickly turned up in a smile.

Her voice was dripping with mischief, which made Deeks open his eyes to peek at her. "What you girls get up to?" He inquired.

Kensi laughed before kissing his lips softly. "I'll tell you in the morning." She promised.

Deeks nodded and his eyes slipped back close. "G'night Momma Bear.." He mumbled.
"Good night Papa Bear." She replied, still smiling.

so that scene was modeled after the scene in 2x10 "Deliverance" where the team minus Nell and Eric break into a car! i was going to have Sam bust the window like he did in the show, but N7sdr93 demanded it be Nell XD anyway, i hope you guys like this chapter! leave me a review if you'd be so kind and follow/favorite too!

Oh and btw the whole Momma Bear/Papa Bear thing is something that Eric Christian Olsen and his wife call each other on their instagrams, and their son is Little Bear, which i think is the cutest thing ever.
