A Gathering of Generals Part 2
"Next on the list is: Team Kiba; consisting of three Genin: Chiruku Akimichi, Hanabi Hyuuga and Kenpachi Zaraki." "Let's start the discussion with Hanabi Hyuuga; I am interested to hear of her skills as a shinobi." Tsunade looked at Kiba and said "tell me what she can and can't do, what are her strengths and weaknesses."
Kiba cracked a smile, leaning back in his chair and putting his legs up on the chair said "so you want to know what my pack brings to the table. Heh what they bring is power and cool. My pups are the best of the bunch. One thing that is interesting in my opinion is that all my pups are Dou based fighters. Meaning they use anger to exceed their limits." "As such, they tend to be aggressive in combat, and very rarely stray from the offensive. At some cases, they are even bestial, where Chouji's Pups are all Sei based fighters wherein they hide their intention to fight, instead focusing on sensing their environment, then release it quickly in response to danger they fight not with power or anger, but with talent, skills, and wit."
"That being said it does not mean my pups are any less talented nor have a handicap, in fact my pups are natural fighters. Starting with Hanabi Hyuuga: I will now tell you of their individual skills, strength and skills as shinobi,
Kiba closed his eyes and made his report: "Hanabi Hyuuga Genin, Of the Hyuuga clan, she possesses exceptionally good vision. The Byakugan gives her a near 360º field of vision, her Byakugan ability is such that it allows her to see up to 300 metres."
"Aside from her obvious talent in her family style taijutsu she is also proficient in tracking, also unlike most of her clan members she is a Dou type fighter, besides that she has also developed her own Taijutsu style that stems from Jujitsu. Of course Lee can tell you more about that."
"Speaking only of the skills i taught her. Her skills in concealment and tracking are good enough to track a Chunin level opponent, but with that being said she sometimes has problems spotting a false trail that an enemy has laid down. One of her other main weaknesses is Genjutsu. She is very susceptible to Genjutsu; despite having the Byakugan she is not able to decipher the subtle differences in chakra."
Tsunade interrupted Kiba and said "are you telling me that after 3 years of training she is unable to spot a false trail laid down by the average Chunin. I am highly disappointed in you Kiba I expected more." Kiba looked at the Hokage and then his friends before everyone started laughing uncontrollably. "Tsunade immediately took on a stern look and said" I do not think this is a laughing matter at all. If Hanabi is anything to go by than your Genin have almost zero skills." Kiba laughed even harder at that comment. It wasn't until Tsunade got angry and banged her fist on the table that everyone became silent.
Naruto was the first to speak and said " Oh come on Baa-chan do you really think Kiba's Genin are really that weak or even ours for that matter?" "You should know by now never to underestimate us, let me tell you a small secret Baa-chan, all of our genin are skilled enough to battle and defeat almost any Chunin within this village regardless of whether they are using Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, or even Genjutsu."
"But when we train our Genin we have imposed upon them two rules. One: you may not display, neither may you use your full power when battling an opponent unless commanded by one of us: The Konoha 12 or any other superior officer, and Two: they may not use any jutsu or technique in battle unless they have reached the skill level of a Jonin with said skill or technique unless specifically ordered to or there is no other option left. that is the reason Kenshin does not use Fuuinjutsu or Black leg Savate in battle not because he cannot use it in battle effectively it's because he has not yet reached the skill level to effectively use it against a Jonin level opponent it is the same reason, Kiba states Hanabi is weak in Tracking and Concealment because she is unable to track the trail of a Jonin level shinobi."
Tsunade was shocked at this revelation for a full 10 seconds before she started to laugh. "I had a feeling this was the case. "Tell me how long have you been training your Genin on Jonin standards?" Shikamaru yawned and with a forever bored expression said "18 months Godaime-sama, allow me to explain all the weaknesses that have been reported of our Genin are listed as weakness because they are unable to defeat or battle on par with a Jonin with that particular skill."
"Anyway let us continue this discussion I am getting sleepy and unfortunately I have a very nagging mother to go home to." Kiba spoke again "Hanabi's weakness lies not only in tracking and recognising and breaking Genjutsu type attacks. She likes to rush into battle without much thought for the consequences. She sometimes goes overboard when trying to subdue an opponent; she has a difficult time controlling her strength, so to be precise she is not able to control her strength during battle. So her three main weak areas are Genjutsu, Tracking and Locating, and not being able to control her strength." Tsunade nodded her head and said "ok now what about her strengths?"
Kiba nodded and said "obviously she is highly skilled in the Gentle Fist Taijutsu technique, aside from that she is very skilled in using exploding tags and also she is very skilled in the use of kunai Jutsu. She has also is very good with her chakra control, but I will let the rest of the gang speak for my pup, after all I wasn't her only Pack leader."
Tsunade nodded and said "very well we shall start with Taijutsu and Bukijutsu; Lee, Tenten?" Lee stood up and said "Hokage-sama Hanabi is a very dedicated and youthful student, like her siblings she excels in the Gentle fist form, however besides her obvious skill in the Gentle fist she has also learnt a secondary Taijutsu based on a Martial art developed by a Military tactician in the 15th Century.
"Although it was originally developed as a form of Unarmed combat by and for soldiers and extensively taught parrying and counterattacking long weapons such as swords or spears via a dagger or other small weapons. It placed emphasis on throwing, immobilizing and pinning, joint-locking, choking, and strangling techniques. Again like many martial arts it was primary developed for combat then later customised for self defence by civilians."
"One of the reasons that Hanabi is such a fierce fighter is because she is very self-conscious about her height and as such tries to make up for it by fighting even more fiercely. For such a fierce fighter I could find only one martial art to teach her; Jujitsu. One of the main aspects of Jujitsu was using the enemy's height and strength against them."
"Once I taught Hanabi-chan the basics, she quickly mastered the martial art and created her own style of Jujitsu to suit and take advantage of her small frame. A style she has dubbed as Brazilian jiu-jitsu. It is a Taijutsu form that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting by taking advantage of her short stature. As for her skill level with this particular Taijutsu form I would say that she is skilled enough to defeat the average Jonin level shinobi."
I must admit even I find it difficult to hold back my strength at times when fighting her. Although her forms are still a bit rough and unsynchronised I have no doubt she is easily a match for any Chunin in this village even a few Jonin." Lee admitted, Tsunade nodded her head and looked to Tenten.
Tenten nodded her head and said "Hanabi is a very talented Kunoichi in respect to weapons. Although she prefers hand to hand combat she will resort to weapons when needed, as such her skills with weapons are not as good as her taijutsu however with that being said she is very skilled in the use of throwing knives and senbon needles, besides that she has discover an interesting way of using steel wires to her advantage."
"By combining steel wires with her senbon and Kunai she is able to create a web of wires which ensnares her opponents temporarily and then when her enemy is ensnared she then channels her chakra into the tail of the Steel wire which then travels down the wire and since her enemy is also ensnared in the same wire he is hit with the Jyuuken from afar and depending on her intent the enemy will either be killed or have his whole chakra system blocked and live."
"So although her skill with senbon and throwing knives are above average, her skill with steel wires is truly excellent. Although she does not seem to have much strength, she could easily amputate an enemy in a matter of seconds if she truly wanted to. This is something she had done on a few occasions."
Personally it's something I don't like, too much wasted energy, I find its best to just aim a Kunai at the carotid artery and let the bastard bleed to death." Tenten said showing a bit of her masochist side that came out only in the heat of a battle, it was suddenly no surprise where Kenpachi got his thirst for battle from. Neji laughed out loud and said "Tenten my dear we are here to discuss and evaluate the abilities of our Genin, not discuss effective killing techniques." Tenten just huffed and said "what I'm just stating an opinion, but whatever let's get back on topic." Tenten said with a scowl.
After everyone had their laugh, Tsunade became serious and said "OK fine what about her Gentle Fist Techniques how proficient is she with them?" Neji took a sip of water before answering "Hanabi is very skilled in the Gentle Fist Technique, she is able to even use the 64 palm technique without any trouble. Her Byakugan is powerful as Kiba mentioned before." "In the beginning I was her sparring partner when she was learning the Hyuuga arts, I am pleased to say that she learnt all the basics very quickly and soon mastered them, before moving on to the intermediate techniques. I helped her master the intermediate levels before Hinata took over as her sparring partner. It was deemed better by uncle Hiashi that Hinata train her further, the reason is that Hinata has better chakra control than I do, and seeing as the higher level Gentle Fist Techniques took more finite chakra control Hinata was the obvious choice."
Hinata smiled and said "it's true that my chakra control is better, Although Hanabi had a difficult time mastering it. I am proud to say that Hanabi is an expert in the Hyuuga arts." Tsunade nodded her head and said "anything else to add to Hanabi's profile before we move on?" she asked the room at large, Nobody responded.
"Very well Next up is Kenpachi Zaraki." Tsunade said. Kiba grinned a wolfish grin and said "Kenpachi is my fiercest pup and is the only one to have mastered the Dou style of fighting; the pup is one of my star students in terms of skill."
"This pup has the speed of a king cobra and the cunning of a wolf when it comes to battle. Kenpachi's primary skill lies in Bukijutsu, i.e. techniques that entail the use of any handheld weapons in combat, but Kenpachi's weapon of choice is the katana."
"He has mastered the Kenjutsu techniques of both samurai and shinobi. He also exceeds in taijutsu as well, he has high chakra reserves and is always ready for a challenge. I didn't teach him much, I mainly taught him how to channel chakra to his ears and nose to amplify his senses. When I train my pups I don't sit around and tell them about a technique I make them experience it firsthand."
"I have taught my Genin how to use their Dou style fighting spirit to their advantage. I taught Kenpachi and all my Genin the difference between fighting a wild beast and fighting like a wild beast." I taught them to turn their weakness into strengths. So if you want to know how useful they will be in a battle then I can answer that question."
"If you want to know what abilities they possess don't ask me, I will be biased ask the others what they taught my pups. When I train my pups I train them for combat, I ensure they understand the concept of war and intelligence gathering; my pups know that it's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog that matters."
Tsunade listened in silence to Kiba's speech before replying "Thank you Jonin Inuzuka for giving me a glimpse into the mental state of your Genin, I assume what Kiba has said is true for all 9 Genin?" Everyone nodded. Very well seeing as Jonin Kiba is not willing to speak of the talents his shinobi possess I will ask the others. Lee, Tenten please tell me what training have you two given him?"
Tenten spoke first and said "Hokage-sama, Kenpachi is a very talented shinobi, after my father taught him the basics of Kenjutsu, I then trained him to use all types of weapons including Kunai, shuriken, senbon and other such shinobi weapons. He is highly skilled in both the making and wielding of weapons. He is one of the few shinobi in the village that understands that a weapon is only useful when it is an extension of one self."
Kenpachi is also skilled to a lesser extent in Fuuinjutsu; however his skill with Fuuinjutsu mainly lies in weapon concealment and camouflage seals. His skill in fuuinjutsu is weak however as he prefers to use multiple small seals instead of one large seal."
"His skill with a Katana however is near Anbu level, his skills are good enough that along with other Kenjutsu techniques he was also able to master Hiken: Tsukikage (Secret Sword: Moon Shadow) and Secret Sword: Moon Shadow (Hazy Moon Night). Both of these techniques are taught only to Anbu level shinobi or Jonin who have showed exceptional talent in the art of Kenjutsu. I was taught this technique by Kakashi Hatake who was an exceptional swordsman himself."
I later taught this Technique to Kenpachi, it would also be worthy to note that less than 15 Shinobi have ever been taught this jutsu and I am one of only 5 shinobi who can accurately use this Kenjutsu form in battle, since it had been mastered and introduced to the Anbu by the Nidaime Hokage."
Once Tenten had finished and taken her seat Lee stood at attention and executed a Military Salute in front of Tsunade and bowing low to Shizune He said "Permission to speak Godaime-sama?" Naruto just grinned while Sakura just slapped her head in exasperation. Everyone else was trying to hold back their laughter. Even Tsunade was trying not to laugh out loud, "Lee, while I appreciate that you are being respectful and are following protocol there is no need to execute a Military Salute every time you make a report about the Genin. You have permission to speak freely Lee."
Lee nodded his head and said "Kenpachi is a very talented Genin and likes to face challenges when training, although his preference and skill with a bladed weapon is formidable his skill in Martial arts and taijutsu is equally formidable, although most of his taijutsu training is focused around speed and weight training. With my help he has mastered the Konoha Senpū Taijutsu style and all its variants. After I trained Kenpachi in the traditional styles of Shinobi Taijutsu, Naruto-kun took over his training when he signed the contract for the Kuma clan and helped him further improve his taijutsu skills."
Lee looked at Naruto and said "you have the floor Naruto-kun it is now your duty to tell our leader of what skills you imparted to our Youthful Genin." Naruto who had his arm wrapped around Hinata's shoulder and his legs on the desk looked at Lee and said "Hey Lee can't you just relax and speak normally for a change, why do you always have to be so full of energy and not to mention loud."
He sighed before continuing "Anyway, where was I, oh yeah; Kenpachi Zaraki, what did I teach him? I taught him lots of stuff, like Lee said the kid is a glutton for punishment, but an eager learner and was willing to learn what I had to teach him. Not to mention that he had a friendly rivalry going on with Konohamaru that spurred him on even further. When Kenpachi was training with me, most of my training focused on him learning how to efficiently use his chakra while summoning and fighting alongside The Kuma clan. What I mostly taught him was endurance and control."
"While training with me I realized that because of his past as a kid living off the land he had become very skilled in street brawls, by using his big size to his advantage he would strike his opponents using punches, kicks and his knees. After observing him, I saw that his style of fighting although very crude and rough was very effective and it seemed he had also incorporated some Muay Thai moves as well after seeing Kiba using the martial art. so I also taught him traditional Kung fu and combat fighting techniques; by combining full-contact kickboxing, which include close range and rapid successive punches and kicks, with wrestling, takedowns, throws, sweeps, kick catches, and even elbow and knee strikes."
"After he had learnt all of those fighting techniques, he then combined them into one style that he likes to call Sanshou (unsanctioned fight")" Shizune frowned and said "it's an odd name for a martial art isn't it?" Naruto laughed at the comment and said "well not every martial art can be named after a flower or something else similarly beautiful. Kenpachi says the name sounds ruggedly handsome and describes himself in a nutshell." everyone had a good laugh, before Naruto continued.
"I would say at his current level he could easily defeat any chunin level shinobi in unarmed combat, but against a Jonin level opponent he would hardly last 15 minutes, of course that is in hand to hand combat. If you were to give him a weapon in his hand he can fight on equal terms with any Jonin level or even Anbu Level opponent." "Even Sai had trouble besting Kenpachi sometimes in Kenjutsu, and that is saying something seeing as Sai was a Root Anbu élite personally trained by Danzo in Kenjutsu."
Tsunade nodded and said "what about his skill in fighting with his summons, from what I understand you helped Kenpachi with his Collaboration Ninjutsu techniques right?" Naruto nodded and said "yeah correct Baa-chan I would say his dynamic with his personal summons is very good and their teamwork is almost flawless, as is clear by the war.
Kenpachi was able to fight on par with a Jonin level opponent, although their teamwork is good it could still be better, and one thing I have noticed and am concerned about is his love for battle, he enjoys a good fight more than anything. He sometimes even holds back to make any fight last longer. There has been many times where I have seen him hide his strength to enjoy a fight for as long as possible. Especially when he combines with his Kuma partner, he tends to become more violent and blood thirsty. After speaking with Kiba we both agree that this is a side effect of his childhood and his relationship with the Kuma clan." Tsunade raised an eyebrow at Naruto's last statement but stayed silent before speaking "very well anything else that anyone else wishes to add?" She was met with silence. Very well, please give an accurate description of the skills and abilities of Chiruku Akimichi."
Kiba smiled and said "ah yes, Chiruku Akimichi, he is a very interesting little pup although a Dou style fighter he has a good and kind heart, out of all the Genin he is the one with the most potential, but he seems reluctant to use his strength at times." Kiba took a sip of water before continuing. "Despite that he may be reluctant to fight he is very skilled. Obviously he is very skilled in the art of his clan's taijutsu style. He also has some skill in Genjutsu. I have no doubt that if he put his mind to it he can defeat a chunin level shinobi easily, but the main thing keeping him back is his kind heart. Although he works well in a team, he prefers to follow then to lead, which is to say that the kid is more of a Beta than an Alpha. But like I said before I will not speak about his abilities, I will let others do so for me."
Tsunade nodded, she then turned towards the group and said "who wants to go first?" Sakura raised her hand and said "Kiba is correct sensei; in terms of physical strength Chiruku outclasses all the genin, but when he started he had no way of controlling his strength so I taught him proper chakra control by sparing with him on daily basis. Although reluctant at first, he soon got into the swing of things." "I taught him the same way you taught me shishou. What I mostly taught him was strength and defense training, because although he had great physical strength, he did not have the capacity to control it properly.
So I took him under my wing and taught him proper chakra control the only way I knew how by using the same training tactics you taught me. I would always use different tactics to train him, the training mostly cantered around chakra control and strength and defense training. Finally after some time he was able to control his chakra properly and utilize his strength." Lee even taught him his own brand of Taijutsu." Lee spoke and said "Hokage Sama I am happy to say that in the realm of Taijutsu Chiruku-Kun is truly a match for any chunin in this village and even a few Jonin. His skill in his family's Taijutsu is excellent and is considered to be a gifted genius within his clan at his age.""Although his skill in Taijutsu is exceptional and his strength great what I value the most in my young student is his kind heart. As such with my help he developed his own brand of Martial arts."
"Born from Jujitsu and based on the philosophy that resisting a more powerful opponent will result in your defeat, whilst adjusting to and evading your opponent's attack will cause him to lose his balance, his power will be reduced, and you will defeat him. This can apply whatever the relative values of power, thus making it possible for weaker opponents to beat significantly stronger ones."
"There are three basic categories of waza (techniques): nage-waza, throwing techniques), katame-waza, (grappling techniques) and atemi-waza (striking techniques). It is a Martial art where the aim is to either throw or take-down an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke. Meaning; Gentle Way the name of This Martial art is: Judo."
His level with this martial arts however is not very high, if he were to only use this martial arts he would still be able to fight on par with any Chunin level opponent and even give them a hard time but he would not be able to defeat them outright. Infact if he were to fight it would most likely be a draw."
So are you saying that his skill is not that great because of lack of training?" Shizune asked. Lee shook his head and said "no, Shizune-san, the reason for his lack of power is not through lack of skill, but because of his kind heart."
Seeing Shizune's confused expression he explained further. "As Kiba-kun explained earlier, Chiruku-kun like the rest of his teammates is a Dou style user: a Taijutsu style that uses anger to exceed his limits. Dou fighters use bestial instincts and rare emotion to fight. They remain mainly on the offensive wasting no time to allow their opponents to ready themselves. This is the basis on which Dou style fighters battle. Although there is always a risk of going overboard in battle those shinobi who are Dou style fighters but have a kind heart are able to reign in their power and use it effectively without losing control of their emotions. I.e. they are able to use and control their anger like a tool.
"However Chiruku Kun is not yet able to control his anger properly because despite his kind and friendly nature towards others, when angered, he is surprisingly terrifying, which is usually caused from his Dou Ki fighting style. Such as when his friends are hurt, Chiruku enters a berserker mode and can't seem to control himself, he loses control of his r emotions and attacks in blind rage. Words don't seem to reach him and only incapacitating him seems to help him regain his senses."
"As such Chiruku fears this side of him and tries to suppress it due to his fear of hurting someone. That is the reason he cannot fully use his strength and holds his strength back significantly and that is why his skills suffer as a result because he fears he will lose control, although our training has helped him greatly. His main problem is the fear of his own power and that is why he fears battle. It is my opinion that he needs to learn from a master the principle of Shaolin: when someone attacks, choose not to receive the violence, but rather to give it back to the sender." I see, and what about his Genjutsu ability? Tsunade asked the room at large.
Ino raised her hand and said "I will answer that question Roshi. In order to better his own combination skills he often trains with Shikamaru, Chouji-kun and I in the Ino-Shika-Chou formation. So while helping him with his technique I often trained with him in Genjutsu.
He seemed to have a keen interest in how the human mind is affected by its environment. So I taught him some traditional Chunin level Genjutsu, I also taught him how to mix different herbs and plants together to create different smells that could affect the human psyche in different ways. He is a very intelligent young man and he grasped the basics of it very quickly, soon he got so interested in it that he even started carrying some vials of mixed herbs and plants on his person, and even coated his weapons with it. It is my opinion that he has the makings of a great chemist."
"It is my opinion that his skills in Genjutsu as well as combination techniques in the traditional Ino-Shika –Chou formation are very great, and with his current skill level he is more than a match for any Chunin level opponent and could even fight with a Jonin level opponent for approx. 10 minutes before his endurance fails and he is defeated." Ino said finishing her report with a smile. Tsunade spoke again and said "I see. You have all given me much information to process about Team Kiba as well as Team Chouji anything else to say about either team before we move on?" Her question was met with silence. "Good then let us continue to the last team: Team Naruto."
A/N sorry for not posting for so long I have been busy with work. Read and Review.
