Rewards and Recognition Part 1:
The Genin were interrupted from their thoughts as the sound of applause reached their ears. Although they were deep in their thoughts, they had still heard the Hokage's speech about paying a pension for 5 years to the families of the dead as well as informing the crowd that both the Gama and Kuma clan had accepted the Hokage's offer to wear the Konoha Hitai-ate. The Genin also joined in on the applause, as the Hokage went on with her speech.
Tsunade took a sip of water before continuing; "we have lost many comrades in this war, but we also have made many new friends as well. This war like all the other has taught us much about our abilities." "This war like all wars before it has taken from us many of our skilled shinobi, but it is now time to start filling our ranks again and Promoting within. Because the Village that is Konoha is still as strong today as it was a few days back. The proof of our strength is not only known by us but also our enemies."
The Daimyo again stood up and walked over to the podium as Tsunade sat down in her chair. The Daimyo cleared his throat and spoke again: "The incident that happened in Kumo and Konoha was not hidden from the eyes of the shinobi world and although the village has been on lockdown, the rumours that have spread of our Shinobi's talents have not. In the war against Akutsuki that took place 4 years ago, many young shinobi made their abilities and names renowned in the shinobi world. But none more so than a group of young Konoha Shinobi, I speak of the group of highly skilled Jonin directly under the Hokage's command and led by Shikamaru Nara, a group of Shinobi who have the highest mission success rates for the past 4 years."
Looking at the Konoha 12 he said "I ask the Shinobi squad known as the Konoha 12 to come up to the stage. For it were thanks largely to your actions that Konoha won this war!" The Konoha 12 had mixed expressions on their face as they heard the deafening applause around them they looked at the Hokage for confirmation and upon getting a nod from her they stepped on to the Podium one by one and stood at attention. The Daimyo continued his speech and addressing the young Jonin he said with a smile on his face: "4 years ago you made your names famous, this time it seems the abilities you have displayed have earned you new names as well."
Ignoring the confused expressions on their faces the Daimyo continued and said "Shikamaru Nara the abilities you displayed on the battlefield with your Kagemane no Jutsu (Shadow Paralysis Jutsu) and your archery skills has lead to a new sobriquet: Hitosashi Kage Ishi (The Dancing Shadow Arrow.)" Shikamaru raised his eyebrows in scepticism as he allowed the Daimyo to put a ribbon his vest for his leadership qualities displayed in battle.
The Daimyo the looked at Ino and said "Ino Yamanaka the skills you displayed on the battle field have led enemies to call you Genwaku Toorima (Bewitching Phantom Killer) named so, because of the way you use your Genjutsu skills to cast illusions upon your opinions before entering their minds and killing them." Ino was pleased to have such a beautiful nickname given to her; it seemed that who-ever had given her that name had a poetic streak in them.
The Daimyo turned to Chouji and said "Chouji Akimichi you used your mace and Taijutsu skills in battle to defeat your enemy I battle. When you use your mace in battle it breaks not only the bones of your enemies but also their courage and as such you have also gained a new alias: Kosshi Koppamijin (Bone Breaker.)"
Winking at Ino he flexed his muscles slightly which caused his shirt to strain under the pressure momentarily, although this went unnoticed by everyone else. Ino suddenly got a Naughty look on her face and using her clan's abilities she sent a mental image of what she planned on doing to Chouji after the ceremony was over. Chouji had to adjust his pants slightly to hide the boner he had gotten from Ino's mental image she had sent him while The Daimyo pinned a medal to his chest.
Turning to Shino The Daimyo said "Shino Aburame you have earned much fame and fear from your time in the Anbu, however by having your insects devour the flesh and bones of your enemies to replenish your chakra has spread fear among the enemies of Konoha and you have also been given a name aptly suiting your abilities: Hitokui-jinshu (The Cannibal)." The Scion of the Aburame clan remained silent and stood still as the Daimyo congratulated him by pinning a medal to his chest."
Kiba and Akamaru were next in line, once the Daimyo had finished hanging a medal from Akamaru's neck and pinned a ribbon to Kiba's chest he said: "by taking the form of a three headed wolf you defeated a tiger and sent him to Kami's realm, this fearsome form of yours has been called Jigoku No Souku (Wolf Of Hell)." Kiba was all smiles as he figured out the meaning of his name and his smile only got wider when he saw Izumi give him a special smile that she reserved only for him.
Hinata waited patiently for her turn as she had her hands at her side. The Daimyo approached Hinata and said "Hyuuga-san thank you once again for all the help you have given me during the Chunin exams, the diplomatic help I received was invaluable. It seems your battle skills are as good as your diplomatic skills if not better. Your graceful movements and deadly battle whips have earned you the epithet of Chimei-Teki Odoriko (The Deadly Dancer)." Hinata heart warmed as she saw Naruto's face break out into a proud smile. She longed to feel his strong arms around her, as he played with her hair. Although it was not possible at the moment, she planned to take full advantage of her lover later at their apartment. As Hinata plotted, the Daimyo moved on towards Lee.
Turning towards Lee he said "Lee-san, while training and serving within the ranks of the 12 Guardian Ninja you put your life on the line many times in my name, I am proud to see that you're training at the Fire Temple did not go to waste. It seems the Drunken Fist style has given you a new epithet: "Tetsu no Kobushi Lee (Iron Fist Lee)." Lee knew that Sakura personally preferred thename Handsome Green Beast, but nonetheless he smiled and carried out a Military Salute, which the Daimyo smiled and acknowledged before moving on to his teammates.
Tenten stood between Lee and Neji as was her custom, she was happy to see the Daimyo praise Lee's abilities, her brother had always struggled in life and love. He trained hard every day to further his goal. When she saw the look of Pride reflected in Sakura's eyes she knew that Sakura truly loved Lee as much as a woman can love a man, although Sasuke Uchiha would always have a place in heart and that was something that could never be changed, but she was satisfied that Sakura would always value and treasure Lee's love for her.
Tenten turned her attention to the Daimyo as he stood in front of her. After giving her a quick smile, the Daimyo spoke: "My fair lady, it is often said that a beautiful women with a quick wit is the most alluring and dangerous thing a man can ever ask from Kami. I beg to differ: I believe a beautiful woman with a quick wit and a high level of skill in weapons is the perfect recipe for keeping a man honest and satisfied."
Tenten laughed softly as she processed the Daimyo's statement; "I believe every Kunoichi in this village would agree with this statement Daimyo-Sama." The Daimyo laughed heartily and said "I have no doubt in my mind my fair lady, or perhaps I should address you by the sobriquet "Kisaki Kengeki (Queen of Weapons)." Tenten smiled and like her brother before her she performed a military salute after the Daimyo finished pinning a medal to her chest.
Neji was stoic his face blank and devoid of any emotion as usual, ever since Tenten had returned from the war he had become almost inseparable from her. When she had learnt that he had been seriously injured in battle, she had rushed to his side. While the Daimyo was speaking to his team mates
Flashback
Upon seeing her bruises and her arm in a sling Neji forgot everything he had tried to do to push her away and tried to move to her side. However before he could do that Tenten had crossed the room to his bed and sitting on his lap she kissed him fiercely on the lips. A kiss Neji eagerly returned, Tenten then proceeded to use a paralyzing seal on him to keep him in place.
The seal was so strong it not only paralyzed his body but also his tongue, Tenten then took out a small pouch of senbon needles and began speaking "listen to me well Neji Hyuuga, I may be a woman of unknown heritage and might not know the first thing of diplomacy or politics, and frankly I don't give a shit." As she spoke she applied her senbon needles in strategic places all over his body while Neji watched on helplessly.
Neji was already in pain from his recent battle, that it was a good thing that Tenten had paralysed him. Before he could dwell anymore on his thoughts he felt Tenten get up from his waist and sat down in the chair beside the bed and after looking at him silently for five seconds she suddenly got a naughty look on her face.
She quickly checked her watch and seeing as she still had ten minutes before Ino said she would be back. Ino had been strict in her rules. Only 20 minutes of privacy would be allowed. Tenten then took Neji's penis out of his pants, and after stroking it a few times to make it hard, she then took him in her mouth and sucked him until she sensed his orgasm near just as he was about to cum, Tenten stopped her actions. She then took him out of her mouth and put his penis back in his pants.
She then removed each of her senbon needles one by one, causing his body to bleed. When she had finished her task she said "despite whatever twisted logic you can think of to reject me Neji Hyuuga I am not going anywhere, so you better get used to it. As for what happened just now was punishment for thinking you could get rid of me.
With that said she then turned to leave. As she was leaving she released the binding seal on him with a single hand-sign, as soon as Tenten had left Ino came in the room and smirked at seeing him with blue balls and tiny pinpricks all over his body. "That's what you get for hurting one of my girlfriends Neji-kun, now stay still so I can heal your wounds, you have the rest of the day to think about what happened before Sakura or I discharge you."
After he was discharged Neji had gone looking for Tenten even before informing his uncle of his discharge. When he finally found her, he took her forcefully by the waist and kissed her passionately. After kissing her Neji hen broke down in tears and started apologising for the hurtful words he had told her before the war. Tenten just sat there with Neji's face in her bosom and let him cry his heart out while her own tears flowed freely. When he had finally calmed down, Neji took a deep breath and said "although the punishment was deserved it was not needed Tenten."
Seeing Tenten's confused look he continued, after the battle while I was recovering I thought long and hard about our relationship and I realized that I couldn't live without you, but I didn't want to subject you to the Hyuuga clan politics; so I made a decision to leave the Hyuuga clan and register as an independent shinobi."
"As per the rules set down by the Nidaime Hokage even if an Anbu agent belongs to a clan he/she has the option to appeal for direct support from the Hokage if he/she feels threatened by their clan. In such a case the Hokage could offer said shinobi safe asylum to practice their clan techniques without backlash from the clan, provided that said shinobi stays in the Anbu until death or retirement." Tenten was shocked that Neji had taken such a big step for her, it reaffirmed in her mind that Neji would be a good father to her children, she listened in amazement as Neji continued to tell her about the meeting with his uncle and the possible changes in the Hyuuga clan.
End Flashback
Neji snapped out of his thoughts when he felt the Daimyo's hand on his shoulder; the daimyo smiled at him and said "Neji-san it seems your valor and bravery have not only gained you much fame it has also gained you much fear among your enemies. Your skills with your Trident and the elements of water and thunder have led to your enemies giving you the name of a god. From this moment on you shall be known as Hokosaki Ryūjin (Trident Bearing God of the Sea.") Despite the grandiose name that he had earned in battle Neji was his usual stoic self and executed a Military salute like his teammates before him once the Daimyo finished pinning a medal to his chest.
Sakura for once was not arguing with Naruto and was instead silently observing Moegi. She smiled as she saw her student shoot furtive glances at her Team mate, she had seen the signs early on 4 years ago, in Moegi she saw much of her old self and therefore was not surprised when Moegi had come looking for her and had asked her to help her improver her skills. Although she had not said why; Sakura knew that in comparison to Konohamaru she felt weak and helpless. Like her master before her she had taken the young Genin under her wing and drilled into her the basics of Medical Ninjutsu and the Chakra Enhancing Technique. It was only in the past year she had started teaching her Kalaripayattu. Sakura was proud of her student's abilities; Moegi had taken to her teachings like a fish to water and had rapidly improved her skills.
After the war in Kumo Sakura had seen a further change in Moegi, she had become more focused and almost Naruto like in her training and execution of her duties. Moegi was not only assisting her and Ino with their surgeries. When on breaks she would only rest for one hour and use the other two hours to practice her Kalaripayattu stances. Although Moegi had tried to be discreet about it, Sakura had still noticed that she was trying to improve her skills.
To help her student Sakura had also been taking only one hour breaks and had helped her young student improve her Taijutsu skills by sparring with her for one hour using only Kalaripayattu and the other hour using only the Chakra enhancing technique. Although it had only been a few days since they had started sparring Sakura was both proud and happy to see Moegi's skills improve, she was also pleasantly surprised to see that as a result of her training, her student's chakra control skills had also improved.
Seeing the Daimyo approach her Sakura turned her thoughts away from her student and smiled at the Daimyo as he approached her. Showing the proper respect she covered her left fist with her right hand and bowed to the Daimyo. The Daimyo smiled and said "Sakura-san your skill and beauty have earned you much fame in the previous war. You earned the title of Nisei in the previous war along with your Team-mates Naruto and Sasuke. However I am proud to say that your skills with the Kukri knives has earned you a ferocious name in this war: the way your kukri knives drank the blood of your enemies and the enraged expression you wore in the setting sun has lead to your enemies to calling you Yasei Kukri Senshi (The Wild Kukri Knives Wielding Warrior.) Sakura smiled and thanked the Daimyo as he pinned a medal to her chest.
Naruto smiled and executed a Military Salute when the Daimyo stood in front of him. The Daimyo smiled and nodded his head in acknowledgement before speaking: "Namikaze-san, your courage and skill has long surpassed your father and Master before you, this war has only proved this fact further. You met Kabuto Yakushi in battle and not only defeated that vile snake in battle but you also ended his existence once and for all, ever since becoming a ninja you have proven your loyalty to Konoha and he Fire Nation at every step of the way to sometimes defeat the monsters that threatened our survival you became a monster yourself. It is with great pride that I pin this medal on your chest and call you by your new name: Akuma Ryu Satsugaisha (Demon Dragon Slayer.") Naruto was seldom shocked but he was shocked when he heard the Daimyo say these words. The blonde Ninja was struck dumb as he felt the Daimyo shake his hand.
The Daimyo then turned towards his audience and said "there is one more man that needs to be honoured, a late addition to the Konoha 12 but a valuable ally and honourable man; his name was Sai and he gave this life of this village and I would have him honoured as well, The Hokage has given him a New Moniker in death: Gaka no Shi (Painter of Death.) It is my wish that Sai's name be engraved on the monument of heroes, among the other shinobi of this village who gave their lives for their motherland, for that is the least we can do to repay them for their sacrifice." He then turned towards the Konoha 12 and said "you may resume your seats brave warriors of Konohagakure." The 11 Jonin as one entity stood at attention and executed a Military Salute before taking their seats among thunderous applause.
A/N: Ok well here is another chapter finished, I hope you liked it. I assure you the second part of the chapter is also halfway finished and will also be posted very soon. I actually intended this chapter to show the thoughts of the Jonin only, but then I decided to do something else.
Although the two recent chapters might not tie in much with the story, I assure it does, Why I posted these two chapters will become clear in my third chapter which I will publish shortly. I originally intended to make it all one big chapter, but due to time restraints, I am no longer able to write long chapters.
I estimate that there are three more chapters to publish after this one. I promise my readers I will finish this fanfic by the End of July. June if I can make it.
