That's it for the teams! Try to figure out the parents of each actual character in Naruto XD PS, Minato and Kushina's teams are in an earlier number because they graduated from the Academy sooner.(Kushina because of Mikuto's help) Also, I haven't made the sensei for all the teams. Team 2 is lead by Dan(You remember him from Tsunade's flash-back, right?) and Team 4's sensei is Jiriaya! There are other teams, but these are the only important ones for now. Enjoy the chapter! :D

Edit: I know, this is a long AN, but just needed to tell you guys I finally got to rewriting this chapter. After last chapter, where I managed to basically triple it's length, I'm excited about this!

Minato's sky blue eyes snapped open at the sensation of light shining against his eyelids, his ocean-colored irises gluing themselves to the entrance of the shelter. It was the morning of the second day of the Chunnin Exams now, and the pale light of dawn had managed to flutter in through the entrance, wind having separated the ferns enough for it to reach him. Hikaru, who slept beside him, was gone, out on the last watch, the ground where he slept holding a slight Hikaru-shaped indent. He and Sari had taken turns so Minato could heal during the night, much to his chagrin.

The blond groaned as he pulled his hands under him to push himself up into a sitting position. His whole body ached, his muscles sore from their extreme exertion the day before. Gritting his teeth, Minato ignored the pain, having dealt with much worse before. Sari, who had been sleeping on his other side, shifted, pushing herself up sleepily and blinking at him slowly. She rubbed her eyes with one hand, yawning. "S'mthing wrong, M'nto?,"Sari asked, only half-awake. Minato let out a soft laugh at his friend's expression. He shook his head, reaching his arms above his head, hoping to stretch out the soreness if only a little. He winced at the burning pain that swallowed his arms, only to sigh in relief as his arms dropped to his sides, feeling more loose and relaxed than they had before.

Sari stared at him for a few minutes, as though trying to comprehend what he had said. Finally, she seemed to get what he had done, sending him a smile. She pulled herself to her feet slowly, clipping her ninja pouch to the top of her pants clumsily. She wobbled slightly as she stumbled to her backpack, yawning again as she unzipped it. She stuffed her hand into the sack, missing the entrance a few times in her sleepy trance, fishing around inside for a moment. She pulled out a small, portable hairbrush, running it through her tangled dark brown hair, which had been pulled out of it's usual pony tail, falling just below her shoulders.

Minato groaned as he remembered his own blond locks. He hated his hair getting tangled, but he had forgotten his comb, as he didn't think he would ever get a chance to mess around with it during the few days they had. He ran his fingers through it, hoping it would suffice for now. Giving his arms one last long stretch, Minato pushed himself to his feet.

His chakra felt like it had restored itself most of the way, and he felt much less light-headed - almost completely better had it not been for his sore muscles. However, the heavy feeling of the former day's uselessness still weighed on his heart and formed a rock in his throat, making it hard to swallow. Minato gulped, shaking himself out as he clipped his ninja pouch on his thigh. He quickly folded the blanket he had been sleeping on, stuffing it into the backpack with Hikaru's; his older teammate had already cleared his area, having known they would leave soon after the others woke.

Sari pulled her red headband up from around her neck just as Minato turned to look at her, finally finished with her hair. She hadn't taken her ninja forehead protector off during the night, he noticed. Minato reached up to his own forehead, taking comfort in the feel of the cool, solid metal that rested there. He double checked that it was on tightly, before grabbing his backpack and zipping it shut. He smoothed the dirt from where he and Hikaru had slept, before pushing the ferns aside from the entrance and leaving. He caught a glimpse of Sari clumsily doing the same, folding her own blanket into her backpack and clearing the area of evidence of their stay.

Hikaru was sitting just outside the entrance, legs crossed Indian-style and back rested against the tree's roots. He turned, opening his squinty eyes to glance at Minato. He grinned in greeting - how the hell is he so freaking awake at this ungodly hour? - and stood up, brushing his pants off and grabbing his own backpack. "Are you feeling better now? Is Sari awake yet?,"He asked curiously, his lopsided smile never leaving his face. Minato nodded in answer, opening his mouth to give a verbal reply. The swish of ferns made him close his mouth and turn to glance at his only female teammate, pushing her way out of their shelter.

Hikaru laughed when Sari stumbled tiredly towards them. "You look like a walking zombie!,"He exclaimed in amusement. Minato covered his mouth to hid a chuckle, not wanting to be on the receiving end of Sari's wrath. She froze at his words, her head snapping up with a glare that would make the devil cower in fear. Hikaru yelped, hiding behind Minato. With a chuckle, Minato pushed the boy out from behind him, taking a few steps back. "I'msorryI'msorryI'msorry!,"Hikaru apologized repeatedly, his eyes wide with terror as Sari slowly walked towards him, a dark aura surrounding her.

Minato winced in sympathy as the girl's fist slammed into his head, sending him flying into a tree. "After all our missions together, you should know by now not to mess with Sari when she just woke up!,"Minato called, trying to hide the amusement in his voice. Sari yawned once more, as though to emphasize his words, then stretched, looking much more awake when she was done. Hikaru had managed to get behind Minato once again, nursing his bruised head pitifully as he used his teammate as a human shield. Sari smiled at them, acting as though she hadn't almost given one of them a concussion.

"I'm starving, so let's go hunt down some food!,"Sari suggested enthusiastically, before pausing, glancing from Minato to Hikaru. She sent Hikaru an apologetic glance, noticing he still hadn't stopped gripping the bump on his head. "Let me check both of you over first." She signaled for both of them to come closer. Minato obeyed without hesitation, while Hikaru followed much slower, eyeing Sari suspiciously with a pout on his face. Both males sat down comfortably, while Sari crouched in front of them, her hands glowing a pale green. She checked over both of them carefully, before nodding in satisfaction. "Minato, you seem fine now; your chakra reserves are almost back to their original level, so you should be okay. I did what I could to lessen the pain of any sore muscles, but I'm not a miracle worker and I don't want to deplete my own chakra too much."

The blond ninja nodded, thanking her as he stretched out his arms, tossing a kunai and retrieving it to test his reflexes. He grinned when he managed it easily, the burning pain in his limbs now just a sting he could swat away like a fly. Sari turned toward Hikaru as Minato returned to them. "Your fine, too, Hikaru. I went ahead and healed most of the swelling, anyway. Since you didn't get a concussion and the bump wasn't major, it shouldn't hurt any more. Just take this as a reminder to not try something like that again, you understand?" Hikaru yelped at her snappish voice, nodding and jumping to his feet.

Minato's stomach growled uncomfortably, and from the looks his teammates threw at their own bellies, the blond knew his companions shared his discomfort. He took the lead position of his group, jumping up into the trees to head out, Hikaru and Sari just a few branches behind him. Minato reached into his backpack and pulled out his water container, tilting the opening against his lip. He frowned when nothing came out, pocketing the canteen once again; they needed to find that main river, and fast. Suddenly, a sound caught the blond's ears. Minato skidded to a stop, his heels digging into the tree branch below him, tilting his head to listen. Sari landed on the branch a few feet below his own, while Hikaru caught a branch above them with both hands, flipping himself over it to land on top. Both glanced at him curiously, wondering what had made him stop without warning. "The hell, Minato! Why are you just standing there?!,"Hikaru shouted. Sari sent him a glare, to which he reacted by dramatically zipping his lips and throwing away the imaginary key, before sending Minato a worried glance.

"Minato, what-,"She began, but Minato cut her off, having barely even registered their presence until that moment

"You hear that?,"Minato asked his teammates, tilting his ear upward.

"What? Hear what?,"Sari questioned, before falling silent to listen. A soft, distant croak split the silence. "Frogs!,"Hikaru exclaimed with a grin, jumping off his branch to land beside Minato. "And where there's frogs, there's water!,"Minato concluded, rushing towards the noise with as much speed as his teammates could handle without losing track of their surroundings. The treeline broke ahead of them, and Minato landed on the rocky riverside in an easy crouch. Sari landed to his left a split second later, and Hikaru dropped to the ground at his right, stumbling a few steps before righting himself and rushing to the water. He dropped down to the edge of the water with a grin, watching the fish swimming by hungrily.

"Sari, can you handle collecting some firewood and starting us a fire?,"Minato asked, meeting his teammate's eyes as he spoke,"Hikaru and I can handle hunting." Sari huffed in annoyance at the obvious lack attention to her own competence, but complied all the same. Immediately, Minato and Hikaru began the more creative version of the fishing process they had been taught in the Academy. Hikaru stripped down to his underwear, tossing his clothes into a small pile on the pebbly riverside, before diving into the water with a loud splash.

Hikaru stayed underwater for a moment, before popping out from the top with a loud gasp, grinning. Minato would have laughed at his friends antics, if he had not been so hungry himself. The black-haired genin took a deep breath and dived back under the water, while the blond quietly took his stance, a kunai between each of his fingers - three per hand. Hikaru swam with chakra-enhanced speed, herding the fish towards Minato, sending a surge of chakra through the water as they got closer. His wind-style chakra disrupted the water, startling the fish enough to send them jumping into the air. With a practiced flick of his wrist, Minato sent all six kuani flying. Six fish were nailed perfectly against a tree trunk beside the river, the remaining few falling back into the water and scattering anxiously.

"Good shot!,"Hikaru admired, pulling himself from the water and swiping off a few stray droplets of water that slid down his forehead into his eyes. Sari held out the towel she had brought, grinning. Hikaru received it thankfully, drying himself quickly and changing back into his outfit, while Minato stuck the fish on sticks and left them over the fire Sari had started to cook.

They sat together, ravaging half their food hungrily before slowing down, staring at the map Sari had laid out for them. They quickly plotted a course upstream - the fastest route to the tower - and began to plan their next course of action. Sari and Hikaru immediately looked at Minato, who chuckled nervously; he had, apparently, been unofficially named their team leader. He looked back at their map, his face setting seriously. "If we take out more teams, even after we have an earth scroll, we will have less competition in the next stage. So if we get another heaven scroll, we need to keep it,"Minato decided, passing a cooked fish Sari had been reaching for over to her. He took another, handing it to Hikaru, and then took the final one for himself. They ate their fill as they discussed strategies, and finally, Sari filled up the water containers and Minato kicked out the fire before they moved out once again, staying far enough into the woods to hide in the foliage, but close enough to hear the river - and maybe catch a glimpse through the trees here or there.

I think we should to start looking for teams. Minato thought. A crack of a twig caught the genin's ears, and his head swiveled around to stare in the direction of the noise, signalling for the rest of the team to halt - not that he really needed to; they had heard the noise just as clearly as him, after all. He took a fighting stance, waiting for an incoming attack. When none came, all three ninja separated into the opposing trees in a triangle formation. Since they haven't realized we were there, Minato theorized, They'll be easy bait to ambush. He waited in silence, casting second glances at his teammates now and again to make sure they were okay.

Something about this didn't see right, Minato knew. The other team was still there; now that he had noticed them, he could easily sense their chakra. Why hadn't they moved yet? The hair rose on the back of his neck, and, by pure instinct, Minato jumped, dodging an incoming kunai by a hairsbreadth. It continued on, heading toward's Sari's hiding spot. "Sari!,"Minato gasped as he realized the intended target of the offending weapon, but it was too late for him to react and help her. Sari spun around, deflecting the kunai with her own. A girl dressed all in black jumped down behind her, slashing a short taito forward to hit Sari in the back. The brown-haired kunoichi was in no position to defend herself, barely managing to spin around. Sari let out a cry of pain as it slashed across her chest. The attacker used the hilt of the sword to hit Sari's stomach, sending her flying into the tree with a heavy thud. Sari let out a gasp before going silent, her eyes rolling up into her head as she fell sideways off the branch. The girl looked up at them, her eyes flaring with silent challenge.

Hikaru jumped from the tree beside Minato's with a cry of rage, kunai extended. She turned to Minato without sparing his teammate so much as a second glance, but the blond ignored her, his focus remaining on his falling teammate. He jumped off the branch with chakra-enhanced feet, sending himself shooting downwards at a slight angle. He grit his teeth as Sari neared the ground; he wouldn't make it!

Making a split second decision, Minato pulled one of his personal kunai from his pocket, flinging it at the ground beneath Sari. It stuck in the dirt, only moments past Sari. Time and space warped and slowed, the kunai medium allowing Minato to travel much faster than he had before. He landed on the ground, catching his injured teammate in his arms just in time.

A man who much taller than the girl from before jumped out from a bush beside Minato, his fist pulled back. Minato began to duck to avoid the man's punch, biting back a growl of frustration as he realized he wouldn't be able to while holding Sari. Instead, Minato waited until the man had thrown most of his weight into his arm, unbalanced. He jumped up a little, kicking off the man's back like a launching pad to get back into the branches, sending the attacker into the dust. Minato carefully knelt down, leaning Sari against the tree to get a better look at her wound. He winced as he glanced it over; the wound had ripped open a gash, running diagonally across her chest. Thankfully, while the shirt had a large cut in them, the tight cloth continued to cling to her form, her modesty saved. Minato's male teammate had jumped backwards, landing on the branch beside them.

"Hikaru, Sari doesn't look too good! Take her and run. I can handle these guys!,"Minato ordered, gesturing towards his injured friend. Hikaru glared at him, shaking his head sharply. "I'm not leaving you alone!,"He snapped,"Not with her! You may be fast, Minato, but this chick's got some crazy agility!"

"Sari needs you to go!,"Minato growled,"NOW!" Sari let out a whimper as she shifted, blood gushing out, her clothes staining in the deep red liquid. Hikaru flinched slightly, shooting his angered gaze back at the female attacker for a second. After a moment of conflicting hesitation, Hikaru nodded, gently lifting Sari into his arms and taking off away from them. "Hikaru! Keep this!,"Minato called, throwing Hikaru one of his special kunai. Hikaru caught it without turning around, dropping off the branches into thicker foliage and disappearing. Minato spun around to face his opponents.

The man that had attacked Minato earlier jumped up to the girl's branch with a third, new ninja, both taking offensive positions on either side of her. Minato paused for a moment to analyse them. The girl was shot - almost the height of a nine-year-old - with pointed, pitch black eyes alight with intelligence and black hair in a neat bob cut. Her tight, black kunoichi kimono, held together by a blood red and pure white strip, contrasted nicely with her pale skin. She was obviously very accustomed to using her sword, if her relaxed grip was anything to go by. Her small body was lean, muscles taunt and strong underneath her skin, obviously built for speed and agility. Minato would have to watch for that. She wore an odd contraption on her arm, similar in built to a crossbow. Was that... senbon?

The two men - no, more like teenagers - stood on either side of her in mirrored stances. Most likely, they were the supporters, meant to hold down or distract the opponents while the girl finished it off. The first, the one who had attacked Minato, was much taller than him with tanned skin. He had curly black hair that fell around his face in tiny rings and elegant, emerald green eyes. The second had a peach skin tone, with dark brown hair, the bangs of which swept to the left, spiking outward. He had large blue eyes, sparkling with the arrogance that was also marked by his smirk.

Minato pulled out his personalized kunai, only for both boys to circle around in opposite directions, running at him with their own kunai held out from either side. Minato shot his kunai straight at the girl, his eyes darting back and forth rapidly in an attempt to keep all three in sight at the same time. The girl deflected the attack with a single, graceful movement of her taito, dashing at Minato. Her teammate's, however, got to him before her, slashing out at him in sync. Minato ducked under their attacks easily. The blue-eyed teen stumbled, taking a moment to right himself - he had obviously gotten too distracted by the thought of winning quickly, and had not prepared for missing - but the curly-haired boy had not, continuing the assault. Minato cursed; this would not go well if he could not separate them, even a little.

Choosing his target, Minato ducked under another attack, placing his hands on the ground and kicking upwards. His foot made contact with the curly-haired ninja's jaw, sending him flying a few feet and effectively knocking him out. The blue-eyed boy began to run at him again, but had to stop to deflect a special kunai Minato had thrown at him. A weight slammed into him from behind, sending him stumbling forward a bit. Minato spun around, growling at his own stupidity as he came face-to-face with the girl from before, the hilt of her taito extended. How could he be so stupid and let her out of his sight?! He ducked under her swinging blade, only to have to push off to the right with chakra-enhanced feet when she expertly changed the course downward.

Minato used the moment to jump behind her, moving to grab her arm. He managed to twist it behind her back, but she quickly wriggled out, lithe form easily untangling herself from the hurriedly-created hold. Minato moved to punch her, but she ducked and spun, twisting around his attacks like a ballerina, coming in for a few smart jabs here and there. She pulled away for a moment to steady herself. Minato did the same, removing another special kunai from her pocket and running at her with all the speed his feet could muster in that short distance.

Minato threw his weight into his kunai, using it like a sword and meeting the girl's own. His speed and larger weight gave him the advantage, sending the girl flying backwards. She flipped back onto her feet, before sheathing her blade, much to Minato's surprise. He didn't waste a second in tossing his special kunai at her, but she simply tilted her head, letting the blade sink into the bark of the tree behind her. She pulled a bottle of purple-ish liquid from her pouch and multiple senbon, which she held in her teeth as she removed the bottle lid. Minato's eyes widened, and he moved to stop the girl; he couldn't let her bring poison into the battle! One of the boys grabbed him from behind, growling. "You're not getting out of this! No one loses to Ren-sama!,"He boasted arrogantly, though his grip never loosened on Minato's arms. The blond tugged on his arms desperately, struggling to get away. The girl finished with the poison in less than a second, easily sliding the senbon into the contraption on her arm. She pulled a string from the back, firing.

Minato fell still as his eyes landed on the kunai behind the girl. A smirk spread across his lips as he went limp in his attacker's arms. The gentle tug of his kunai pulled on his mind, but he waited, counting the distance of the nettle in his head. Time seemed to have slowed to a snail's pace around him. 30 feet. The boy's hold remained strong, but he obviously already believe they had won. In fact, the whole team seemed to have relaxed a little, including the curly-haired boy, who had woken up. 20 feet. The boy's hold relaxed a little, but Minato didn't take advantage. Not just yet. 10 feet. Almost... Almost... 5... 4... 3... 2... NOW! In a single blur, Minato was gone from the startled boy's grip, reappearing behind the girl with his special kunai held to her neck, biting her skin. The nettle struck the boy with a thud, impaling itself into his arm, rather deeply. He sputtered, coughing as though he were chocking before crumpling to the ground. The girl gulped, staring nervously at her teammate.

"Ren!,"The boy with curly hair shouted, struggling to stand up - he seemed to still be disoriented from that kick,"Teuchiro!" Minato, using his free hand, pulled a fistful of shuriken from his pocket, one between each finger. He rose his arm to take out the final member of the squad that had come after his team; he hated to hurt people like this, but Sari was badly wounded, and Minato knew for a fact that Hikaru had slept through the first-aid class in the Academy. He had to finish this quickly and find them!

"Wait!,"the kuniochi gasped. Minato's arm froze as he turned to look at her. "Please! I'll give you our scroll, just... Don't hurt my teammates!,"she pleaded. " Ren, I don't care if I get hurt! I know how much you want this-,"the green-eyed boy insisted, but was cut off. "We need to give Tuechiro the antidote immediately! We can't keep fighting - not like we are now! Plus, if you pass out, how am I expected to carry both of you giants to safety?,"Ren snapped back, turning her attention back to Minato,"Please, young ninja!"

Minato removed the knife from around her neck with a reluctant sigh, lowering the shuriken back into his pocket. "Fine. And I'm older than you." Ren glared at him. "I'm fourteen, brat! How old are you? Ten?,"She hissed. Minato stared at her in shock, his jaw dropping. She was shorter than he was! Shaking off her anger, the kunoichi pulled an "Earth" scroll from her pocket, handing it to Minato. "Thank you for your kindness,"She thanked, her eyes flaring with the same unspoken challenge as before as she continued,"Please, tell me your name. I am Ren."

"I'm Minato Namikaze, from the team lead by Jiriaya,"Minato told her, taking the Earth scroll and placing it in his own ninja pouch with his team's heaven scroll. He turned without another word, forming the teleportation hand signs. He had to find Hikaru and Sari and make sure they were okay. At the very least, he knew they had his kunia on them. Hold on just a little longer, guys.

I hope this chapter had enough action for you :D I originally put Ren as Shizune, but then I realized Shizune was the same age as Kakashi, I decided to change it to an OC. We can't have Shizune being an old lady, now can we? I don't have much to say this time around. You guys know the drill. Review, favorite, and follow if you like. Favorite/Follow me(the author) to join the Sacred Army. Also, if today isn't Monday were you live, I'm so sorry for the confusion. For everyone in America, a new chapter comes out on Monday! Try to figure out what day this came out, so you know when to look onto my chapter! See you next week! Bye! :D
